#upenn (2022-2023)

Yike
i was honestly really happy when the people ik got into places, even when they got into the place i applied to 🥲
because
it's nice to see your friends succeed
holy fuck
Frfr
No one got into Columbia ED in my hs iirc
exactly
A guy I despise did get in RD tho he committed to Yale instead
someone in my grade got into upenn for track
but he’s a nice and smart kid so i’m not mad or jealous plus grad school
i will say i had a bit of a psycho I hate everyone who got in moment during break but i think i was just really unstable because of how hard rd app season hit me
I don’t think I ever really
Cared about getting in
Then again
I got my first rejections on ivy day
So I didn’t have a lot of time to be miserable
most ppl either go to my state school or northeastern
but many go to an SEC school as well
Most ppl in my hs just went to hunter college or ccny
yeah uh... very different over here
like it’s umass amherst or an SEC school (clemson, uofsc)
the smarter kids all go to northeastern or an ivy
i will refrain from commenting further
27 votes and 8 comments so far on Reddit
i swear every single uni experiences a "record high" every year 💀
so valid
Well in fairness Penn let their application date go to the 20th
i’m still mad penn did that
just had penn m&t interview
how'd it go
i had a penn cas interview 2 hours ago 🤞
p good, told him abt my buisness and he loved it. said i would be a good fit for m&t
ended it at exaclty 30 min cuz he had another call.
You would think, huh?
Wharton is not much harder than CAS lmao
Do they have guaranteed housing for all of those people tho? Like I know they calculate for a specific yield but I’m genuinely asking cuz idk why they try to get the same number every time
from easiest to hardest i think it goes CAS > SEAS > Nursing > Wharton but the difference isn’t that much
That’s…not even close
but idk i’m guessing i’m prolly wrong lol
well they’re all difficult, the numbers I have seen in the past is Wharton and CAS are almost the same but Wharton is like 1% different I think? I’ve seen 6% Wharton and 7% CAS but I’ve also seen 7% Wharton and 7% CAS
I saw nursing was a relatively high percentage but also have no idea where they got those numbers, like 25%
And nothing for seas
i figured nursing would be competitive because it usually is at a lot of state schools
You’d think huh
bc my state school has a 66% acceptance rate but their nursing is <10%
This is the number I keep seeing on every website that talks about penn nursing
Seems outdated
But still, general idea
Again, not sure where they got this
But that’s the numbers I keep finding
Depends on the year too Ofc
if that’s true that’s higher than a lot of state schools’ nursing programs
I tried looking in cds and didn’t find it for specific colleges
So I couldn’t tell you
yea they don’t which sucks
But CAS and Wharton always have very similar acceptance rates, nursing seems to always be higher
wait rly
i thought wharton had closer to 2-3% acceptance rate or maybe that’s their mba program
I received my Penn interview request today and suggestions/tips are greatly appreciated
I mean, maybe for rd? I saw that UPenn overall had about 4-5% for rd
Do research into the school. Have questions for them. Relax and be yourself!!
probably because these numbers seem high
I made a post on here abt the questions I got
On the sub or here
I think the post is old af
Now this website is defff old cuz they have figures for class of 2023 but still, I guess you could use it as a general idea?
But they don’t release data by each college so again, not super sure where they’re getting this..?
Thanks
wdym?😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
second highest acceptance rate lesgo?
still wont get in tho
also penn interview done
quite good
@covert shoal thank you for the adviceee
most of em were
thats great!
intro abt yourself, academic interests u have, why pursue them at Penn, what does your typical day look like, what professor are you interested in meeting, is there a subject which you dont like much, and what things non academically attract you to Penn
he started off with a Why Penn immediately as I joined call
those are some interesting questions lmao
and he is BA economics from Penn so he was genuinly interested in knowing what Computational Linguistics entails
Thats amazing
he also asked me abt companies that he must've heard of that are into Comp Ling
wut did u talk to your interviewer about?
i accidently said that i dont like Eng Lang lmaooo
so he said u like Comp Ling but no Eng lang? sus
Hey theyre not exactly the same
then had to explain how the curriculum teaches us Lang different what I want to learn is thinga like the phonetics chart and other Ling related high level things
exactly, he understood cuz he was in the same national board curriculum as mine
lang is legit writing arguments
I put a list of the questions I was asked in this threat, but more or less I talked abt my family situation and my interests in psychology and my plans to be a psychiatrist
BRUH
ISTGG
I was turned off from it
lmaooo
but knowing that other people had good interviews makes me think most people at Penn are nice
she was just snobby as hell
very good chance
cuz Penn has snobby kids
a lot of em
as far as i've heard
my interviewer talked abt how he had fun at Penn and did things like Soccer etc...which I'm into...and he said how Penn is an oasis in the middle of a city
its like your own kingdom in Philly
his vocab was so good
Not everybody at Penn is a snob, but if you need to ever find one, more often than not they will be at Wharton
yes
My why us for Penn was so shitty
truee
what did u say
I said that it was cuz they had research opportunities I like in fields like psych which lots of schools dont have much research for cuz its a social science and not a hard science like chem
and how they let you do research in ur first year on campus
i didnt know what to say LMAO
I was like I can say the real reasons why but she will hate them
I like penn because its close to home and they have amazing clubs that make me laugh
and their psych program and neuro program is amazing
said how i wanted to start my journey with Machine learning right after 10th grade so needed to learn python for that...took up a course from Penn which had super awesome instructors and naturally the first thought that came to mind was how cool would the instructors be offline
and then i built up on that
thats actually a really good answer
should have just said that, but your chick was snobby
no she was so rude
she wouldnt have loved such a candid answer
I knew she would hate it
im assuming so too
Like she said what are you reading in english class and I said frankenstein and she said "ew, your curriculum is not exciting, where is the Shakespeare?" and later asked me if I took language classes and I said yeah 4 years of spanish and she said "so are you fluent yet or what"
and I said I can write and read pretty well but not speak
and she goes "yeah, the American education system isn't great with preparing kids for real life experiences" (she was from london)
bruhh
i feel sorry for u man
thats so rude
😭😭😭
i was so niced with my guy man istg
he knew abt Anime as well
man i still dont get why this British chick acted like such a bitch
but no offense to any other UK kids, British ppl in general have a snobbish attitude and consider American things to be shit
and you got in anyways
so jokes on that bitch InNiT?
😭😭
Don't take it personally. To me it sounds like banter. It's just their culture and the way they talk, I don't think she meant to come off as rude in general. Well as an Aussie, I don't see it as rude anyways.
prob, but it was weird
Fair enough haha. When i first moved to my school (an american school) there was definitely a bigger cultural gap there than I initially anticipated and I had watch what I said to avoid misunderstandings
lol well in Aus we call each other c***s so
thats not an issue
but i wouldnt expect that kind of language nor that attitude in a professional conversation like an interview tbh
india itself has comedically being derogatory and cussing out of love in its culture, cant use that in a profesh enviro tho amirite lol?
so wharton, cas, seas have very close acceptance rates
i wonder why people are all like wharton is the hardest
seas nutz
I reckon there's a fine line but with respect to attitude, that's something that varies in cultures yk especially when it comes to formal settings. What's formal in India may not be formal in Aus or vice versa.
quality of applicants maybe
its barely harder
but upenn is ranked 1 in business
so wharton gets gassed up
@covert shoal you applied to cas?
true
Where’s this from
And it’s probably quite old/inaccurate ngl
because now the overall acceptance rates are significantly lower than you’d estimate with this data
Lol
Honesrly I’m a little surprised at the nursing acceptance rate
Maybe substantially fewer people apply for nursing I guess
Since nursing is also the smallest school
dont laugh at my misery😭
I’m an intl, needing full aid, and applying RD…..I have immense pain😂😭
upenn is need blind for canadians right
Literally
Yeah they are
I need a miracle to get in😂😭
Unless they absolutely love my essays and the projects I’m doing rn during my gap year
It’s all politics heavy
And I talk about my interest in minoring in MMS but that’s it
True dat
I have always faith regardless of how bad my odds are but also have to have realism yk aha
I’m looking forward to an interview if I get one tho
Should be fun to discuss my interests lol
Will do
Dude your interviewer sounded great haha
Chill asf
Hope I get someone who loves politics
And can just talk about it all day
I would be so happy
istg
30 mins is super less istg
Haha can only imagine
Hope I get to experience it!
Thanks man
@surreal rock u didn’t get a interview?
I submitted my app yesterday haha
Penn?
Yeah
Ohh
They extended deadline to 20th
So I decided why not
UPenn has an Aussie society
It’s quite fascinating and exciting
i didn’t get mine lmao
haven't gotten one either
i mean it’s still pre early
90% apparently
But
It’s based on availability
No interview =! You’re a worse applicant
Idk if it’s true
But I heard they give interviewer a list
And the interview pic who to interview
havent gotten an interview
!=
i shower
🚿
U are literally a software engineer
oh
Lmaooo
Got my int tomorrow
got no interview yet
anyone know when the interview deadline is?
do u have to request one?
No, I was asking about the deadline for the interviewers to send in their report
What are somethings that are unique to UPenn 👀
i havent gotten my interview request yet 💀
do u have interview for penn?
source?
Yeah
This Saturday
The interviewer was a d1 athlete 🥵
ru from canada?

🤩
Still haven’t got an interview yet🥰
me neither 😇

💊
if any of u guys get an interviewer named kimberly plz tell me
mine was named kimberly and graduated from wharton
yes
yes I mentioned this
apparently ivy interviews can run run like feb/march or so
yeah they can do it near decision date I think? they did for some of the qb kids
what'd they ask bro
I don't got kimberly but I got mine in an hour
this ain't 100% idk but I remember my interviewer saying smth about submitting their material to ao by like late feb
but they could prob easily do some and submit in march
- Tell me about yourself and your home life (I talked about my difficult family situation, but you can talk about anything to give them a context into your life. It’s just a conversation starter)
- What do you want to do in your future/after you graduate college?
- Who do you think was your biggest guide during the college admissions process? Why?
- What does your class schedule look like, more or less?
- What is your favorite class right now? What are you doing in that class right now? (I talked about English class, so she asked me a lot about the books we were reading etc)
- Who do you think is your biggest mentor in life? Who do you look up to?
- What would that mentor say are your most positive qualities? What would they say are your most negative ones? (this was so fucking hard for me to answer)
- Why Penn? Have you done any research into the school?
- Do you have any questions for me?
- Is there anything else you would like the admissions committee to know? (they right down whatever you answer to this question for them to read)
does anyone know how they check for proficiency for a lesser common language
for huntsman
yeah my interviewer said smth ab that yesterday and i was like hmmm
cause ik u can take an ap exam but what if my school doesn’t offer it or language isn’t offered
well my school didn't allow me to take a foreign language class bc im billingual
so i took the nyu language proficiency exam
and got 15college credits
i just added in my common app additional info
and you can contact other school in your area to take the ap exam if you school doesn't offer them
there’s no ap class for my language tho
what your language
arabic
i think u can go to nyu language proficiency exam and take it
anytime you want
usually take 10days to hear back your result
it cost 500dollar ish
but its 16 college credit max
definitely shows your foreign language proficiency
yo
Yo
They will probs give out interviews till early march
mine only asked like 2 of these
the rest was just talking abt biking and random stuff
yeah some of the questions and specific to you
she asked a lot specific to things I said or clarifying questions
those are just the general questions she gave
not every interviewer is going to ask the same questions
i still havent gotten my upenn interview
and theyre suppose to inteview 90% of their applicant
Lmao
💀
y’all what kind of questions do they ask
"do you hike a lot"
"what are some companies that are involved in Computational Linguistics that I'd know of"
"You are applying for Computational Linguistics, how do you not like English Language"
anyone who knows abt it would never ask this question cuz they are miles apart😭
its gonna be really chil
just the typical questions:- intro, why penn academically, why penn extracurricularly, build up questions on these reponses, any questions for me, end
ok awesome ty
Got my interview today lol
You got it bro
It’s actually the best one I had, seems like many others feel the same
Much more conversational than the others
truee
@covert shoal hey i saw u got accepted into upenn and im applying for ED during the summer, i was wondering (if you're comfortable) could you share your supplementals to me if it's alright?
Finished interview for Penn
LMFAOO
Great!
she applied thru QB so i dont think she had the same exact supps as u'll be, but i could be wrong
I think ur right
Ik qb had diff prompts
And im like 99% sure she applied thru qb
yep she matched thru QB
love blue lock
me when im locked in frida kahlo's house (ive never watched blue lock)
ok
ohh
I get the same supps
the actual application has more essays than the common app personal statement
but I still have to do the normal UPenn supps on top of that
But even so, I don't feel comfortable sending my supps out to people applying. If you ever need help with writing supps I will feel more than happy to answer any questions you have!
Okay, thank you so much!
I actually had a question I asked earlier to some people but I wanted to ask you specifically, how big is Calculus BC for Wharton? I'm in AB and I can take BC next year in my senior year.
I dont think it matters
They dont have it listed as a requirement Im pretty sure and I have friends that are in Calc AB that got in
just keep your grades up
It will probably help you in college if you take Calc BC though, and I would maintain course rigor as much as possible
Alright, thank you.
No problem! Also, if you feel confident in your math abilities, you can get credit for getting a 5 on the exam for Calc BC but not Calc AB
I believe their portal has a spot to upload LOCIs
I checked my sent emails and didn’t email penn mine last year, so it must’ve been that
Maybe it isn’t called LOCI but something like “additional materials”
there's an upload materials section, could it be that?
Yes I think so
awesome thx
hey has anyone ever been a research assistant at UPenn or do any of you guys have knowledge about becoming a highschool research assistant there?
For Penn interview is it ok to mention things on my essay
Of course I don't see why not
Thanks 🙏
Just finished my Penn interview
it was good
we talked too much and got cutoff in the end during the last part cuz free zoom only lasts 40 minutes
he sent me a quick email about it and said thank u and stuff
should i send an email back rn or wait for 24 hrs ish and send a more professional thank you email 🤔
Just cold email
Yes they don’t get access to your application materials
That’s so nice!
I’d reply sooner rather than later
Replied already
Yeah it went really well 😇👌
Oh yeah thank goodness mine had premium or whatever because we went 50 minutes 👀
He's a professor at University of Washington looks like, he's kinda old too but he was really nice
Lol
At the beginning of the meeting he was also like... we should only have this be like 30 minutes max
Mine was a d1 athlete lol
Same lol
He also kinda asked me to explain some stuff I spontaneously mentioned lol
And we talked about Indonesian cuisine 🧑🍳
mine did grad school only so i was like asking him some really deep questions about penn and he was like... "that's a really good q but idk cause i didn't go there undergrad"
☠️
Thats how my harvard interviewer was like bc he graduated in ‘74 or something 😭
Lol mine said that they had a class called how to waste time on internet or something lmak
my stanford interviewer graduated '84 or something yeah lol idk how it's gonna go
oh gosh 😂
Yeah like I mentioned "Lunch and Learn," the Percy Jackson class etc
oh LOL interesting thing to study at penn
Bro everyone intends to double major at upenn 💀
lowk wanna double major with some random misc waste major
that i will never use in real life
😂
For me it’s math and history
And I really had to convince him that it works for me given my background and interest
yeah
i really want to do their business program which is... most competitive
so rip that
LOL
For me getting in is most important idc about major
imagine doing CS
good luck
That... I would get rejected from my ED school which is twice Penn's acceptance rate, and somehow get into Penn.
By some strange way I'd get into Penn but... we shall see
LOL
upenn
penn(is)
still haven't gotten an interview email yet, should i be worried?
i haven’t either
most applicants get one but they can come through like mid-late feb
okay cool
alr yall quick shyt
sound stupid but
if you got deferred ED and say you're redoing your essays
you think its bad to go over the word count cuz aint no way they gna inspect element and check the word count right
😩 😩 😩 😩
They might have an automatic cutoff in their database that literally just cuts off at the word count...
Hopefully not but...
Unless they literally turn your PDF into a doc on their end and do that same process
Probably not worth the risk...
freak balls
Cause then it implicitly shows them you can't write about yourself within the allotted space.
and considering the few they accept from deferred...
dyk the %
freak balls
You gotta stick out... one of the best ways is to not create something super super long that drones
(they might not watch the whole thing)
you gotta create a letter so at least they glaze over all of it
yea im workin on that now
yeah yeah
yeah ofc :)
i like the way u speak
thanks LMFAO
Wait are you trying to redo your penn supplemental essays for your LOCI?
I don’t think that’s the best idea
i called them and they said i can redo them
no its not for my LOCI i can litterally just redo my essays and they will look both my past essay and my new one
i have a separate LOCI too
10%
do you know what the general acceptance rate for Electrical Engineering at UPenn SEAS would be?
probably around the rd acceptance rate
which is.....?
💀 Wharton isn’t really harder than like CAS and that’s a common misconception
does anyone know what the general acceptance rate for Electrical Engineering at UPenn SEAS would be?
That’s the only school I don’t see much for
Expect low numbers
5-15% is my best guess if I had to say something but idk
which school in penn did u apply to?
Lol for me the only major that fits my resume is statistics at Wharton
But I wanted to double major math and history
So CAS def fits better
I wonder what’s the respective math and history acceptance rate @CAS is
you can do a major in CAS and a stats minor at Wharton, I am doing that
you cant do two majors between CAS and Wharton unless ur in one of the special programs I think?
they dont accept by major
Maybe I transfer to Wharton if I can get in
Lol my main concern rn is to get in
I don’t really care which major lol
you cant even choose ur major until after the first year
So I just choose one that fits my profile the best
That’s what I like about these schools
You choose the school tho
So much freedom
Wait I saw this wrong
Like I'm in CAS doing psych and neuroscience and I could change my major to any other major inside CAS but not really like Wharton cuz thats another whole difficult process
Yeah I might do a minor in the case I get in
I see 👀
Yeah and I heard that getting into special programs after admissions is basically impossible
Probably
Just got contacted for my first t20 interview slayyyy thanks penn 🥳
Thanks!! You’ll get it soon I’m sure
LETS GOOO BISCUIT
I feel you mate….I feel you
I’m asking for full aid as an Intl😂😭
But spirits are high, no matter the probability!
isn’t penn need-ware for intls
most places are needaware for intl
Exactly my point
did my interview like yesterday i think
it went well
the interviewer was actually asking me about real-world stuff though
like if i mentioned "i wrote an article abt x" they would ask how x manifests in the media or how i see x in my daily life
then i mentioned smth like "what i do for this org is kind of like a feminist version of effective altruism" and he asked me what i thought about effective altruism
so im just glad i didnt like about anything else id be preeeeeetty screwed
Ll.
Lol
My interview pressed me on stuff too
I answered well and he was pretty impressed lol, man studied criminology
Was trying to peel me like an 🍊
is the upenn fin aid stuff a softdeadline
damn sounds like a lot 😭 my penn interviewer was so chill he asked how covid affected how i learn
like very basic stuff
basically
I talked about the specific history research I was doing and stuff i learnt, how it improved myself as a whole. He proceeded on to ask whether I will continue to study that topic or expand to other areas of history..
But the hardest was finitely how does my two major interest relate to each other 💀
same
are interviews required?
it was a lot but at the same time i didnt get to talk about some stuff since all we did was go through my resume and converse on derivative topics
like i talked about why penn fit into my academic interests but was never really asked about what i'd like to do there besides study
im glad he didnt ask me why i didnt apply ED though, i heard some older people in my community get asked that
wait
how come u got interview
are u intl?
what did u apply
i’m oos but in us, I had mine yesterday
whats oos?
Out of state
yeah i’m intl i applied to arts and science for bio
at least 3 others in my school got an interview
wait what
im oos/intl
cuz im a us citizen living in india
and i got it too
so dw abt it
and its really easy
not at all like an interview
apparenly they stop in late feb
godddd applying for financial aid for this school is a pain
january 20ish idr
for those who got deferred did u send the loci via email or portal or both?
girl from my school got an interview and ignored it bc she thinks shes not getting in either way
like bruh
💀💀
that should’ve been mee
nah the shoulve been ME
my friend
literally
guys
on college cc
someone said the deferral rate was 17%
but idk whr tf the source is
what is college cc, college confidential??
yea
Probably none since UPenn likes releasing their stats after RD decisions
honestly dont listen to college confidential
isnt it better to self check the Common data set and self calculate the rates
i don’t think the cds lists that info tho
it lists total number of admits and total applications... from that you can ca;culate the rate
yea but not by school
thats why i said calculate here
penn releases the overall acceptance rate on the cds
they don’t release breakdowns by school anymore
Finally got an interview my first interview, good job Penn
i see..
COME ON PEN
No interview yet?
Dude relax it’s still early Feb
Anyone here who already got an interview ?
Yeah did mine a week ago it went well
What were the questions they asked ?
the guy first introduced himself
and then i just introduced myself
and he immediately asked a few questions, wanting me to expand on what i said
for me it was part time job and a personal cooking project
and we talk about indonesian cuisine, his from indonesia originally
moving on, he asked me about academic interests and plans @ Penn
and pressed me on how my double major works (math x history)
Moving on he wanted me to project my current history research project into Penn, luckily i did research and so i mentioned 1 prof that i rlly wanna work with, etc. Also mentioned what new stuff i want to try @ Penn
also talked about athletics
and asked a few questions, went to the full zoom limit, was nice
Penn interviews are chill dw
No lol
I LinkedIn’ed him
Found out his from Indonesia
So subtly mentioned that I’m doing this cooking project that involves a lot of south Asian cuisine
He became interested
And Ofc i did my homework
He was impressed lmao
hahahah smart man
my inbox so dry :(
That pfp 💀
🗿🗿
My Penn interview was super chill too the guy was very nice
A professor at the UW tho in the same dept of the same undergrad school I wanna attend lol if I go there
If interviewer told me that the committee should be inspired by my application, will this mean anything?
nah
interviewer was prolly impressed
but the interview doesnt have a major impact on ur app
most interviews are generally positives
yall i need help
scheduled my interview for 4est
and my interviewer confirmed the time
but never sent me a zoom link or anything
just sent a follow up, they havent responded
they also gave me a phone number if i have any questions, should i call that?
im lowkey panicking rn
on my last interview too 😭
ok i think it should be settled now... hopefully
A pageish
Mines at 680 words rn😭
for harvard i sent a page
but it was a full page since i had a lot of stuff to update
470 words for my loci to Princeton
JUST HAD MY INTERVIEW
we rlly spent most of the time talking about my life as an expat vs locals
I seriously don’t understand why so many of you guys can’t grasp the fact that interview offers aren’t indicative of your chances
My penn interview also went great it felt like I was having a conversation with a friend lol
idk
it’s so annoying
did anyone else get an email from penn requesting additional financial aid information?
yes
yea
yes
doesnt mean jack before you get excited/depressed
for Cornell ED it did
they requested more financial info and everyone that got that got in
I think it was tax returns or something
if im a us citizen living abroad with no us income sources, what do i fill my parents income as in the FAFSA form
cuz $0 income doesnt sound right to me
and if I fill in my Indian income...they ask me to file IRS tax returns for 2021. Unless you have any income sources or assets in the US, you don't need to file it
im stuck, anyone knows what to do?
weird
i know 10 ppl who got in
but at least its a sign u dont get rejected?
are u intl
it only works for intls
for americans they ask almost everyone for the returns iirc
ye thas what. iwas talking b
ab
i forgot this isnt i2u
ik many intls who got that tax thing
i guess all got in
no im not
ye I think there's been a pretty good correlation between that additional financial email a few days before decisions and then getting in
for intl students
time to immigrate out of the US, I guess
did you apply for finaid?
I got an email asking us to submit some left out documents that applicants sometimes miss idk if that’s what y’all are talking about
It was very general
Pretty much just a reminder
i got that too
yet to submit my noncustodial waiver since it turns out there's one specific to penn
I wonder whether they will tell you whether it’s been accepted after you submit it
im guessing you're gonna have to submit it as well?
i heard they don't
until after you're admitted
i read that somewhere on college confidential iirc
can someone help me rq
yall think they would get mad if you sent in a 'creative essay' to supplement your application if you were deferred
i was planning on sending the creative essay I used for harvard but idk
Please do not advertise.
We took down your post in the subreddit and that does not invite you to do the same here.
In the future guys please report people who advertise their videos
Shore
No, it did not
You’re noticing a pattern sure but that’s not proof of anything, it’s all anecdotal
The admissions office at Cornell is independent from the financial aid office
They don’t talk to each other about who is in and who isn’t
how come? cornell is need aware for intls
Maybe it’s different for internationals since admissions offices tend to have a different team for them, but at least domestically they don’t interact. And even for internationals, being asked for more financial information is not indicative of your admission or not.
i'm pretty sure request for additional finaid documents strongly correlates w an acceptance for intls
Correlation isn’t causation
since for intls, cornell doesn't provide a finaid checklist nor do they ask for finaid documents upon submission of your app
And I’d rather you guys avoid portal speculation entirely
As that’s a bannable offense here
All good
if an interviewer didn't show up is that ok
Yeah just ask them to reschedule and if they don’t get back to you tell the college and ask for a new interviewer
any tips for interview?
but it happened sm tims
ok whatever u say
still anecdotal!
ya i kno
try googlin around and looking on the subreddit
theres plenty of advice posts specific to penn and generally about interviews
i will take my speculation to intl 2 usa where they truly value it
do they actually tolerate portal speculation?
thats sad
it is
but its always right
no not really
i believe it is right therefore it is
sorry im just a dumbass
u aint have to warn me 😭
@low yacht
Hello
do u mind if i ask how much finaid they gave you?
Initially my COA was 72k but I negotiated it down to 29k
Np
is it a red flag if I only sent my loci today
not sure, my friend still hasnt sent lmao
from the penn faq letter for deferrals
since u sent it b4 feb 15th u should be fine
you mean the forms you should have sent in beforehand in the first place?
wha
No
It isn’t even required
You’re chilling
applying for aid for penn is a bitch
why
Many many forms that sometimes can deemed unnecessary
Especially if you have non-custodial issues
Yeah but that’s every school for the most part
Not just Penn
I hated the noncustodial stuff
But penn wasn’t any different than the other schools I applied to
True but they had an additional supplement w the CSS which was something I didn’t see from my other schools. However, i do agree w what you said, financial aid at any school is tedious
most schools just require css and fafsa meanwhile for penn i had to upload documents and fill out the penn supplement (parents are divorced, little to no contact with dad)
does penn send likelies
^^
When?
I think around February? I’m not sure but that’s what most schools do
got my interview req
this cycle is strange
likelies are unlikely
literally do not anticipate them
or even think about them
vast majority of admits dont get em
this can be standard
i wouldnt stress about the length specifically
good thing interviews arent weighted heavily
probably wont impact ur app unless u called the interviewer ugly or smth
now gotta figure out how im gonna talk to my damn interviewer im nervy
stalked his ljnkedin and all i could say was hes cute
im so unprofessional i havent done an interview in a yr since my last internship i forget how to speak
sos
But im different
Im expecting a likely from every ivy i applied to
statistically speaking, you will be very disappointed
lol imagine if colleges sent out unlikelies
Lmfaoo
they should tbh
give delusional seniors who only applied to their dream school a chance to apply to more before its too late
oh man that sentence does not make sense grammatically
remove the "go get" and you're golden
Knowing what likelies even are is an A2C moment
Those are called waitlists
'we are emailing you to let you know that you should not expect an acceptance later this spring when results come out. having reviewed your application, our team of admissions officers concluded that you are unlikely to be a good match for the University of Pennsylvania. We get that this may be a disappointing result to your application, and we appreciate the time you have taken to consider the university as your home for the next 4 years, but we hope that by letting you know early you are able to make an informed decision on where you attend university. '
lol imagine its very short and crisp
you are not it
so we are prolly not gonna accept you
but on the off chance the committee is high
you might get in
i’d rather have this tbh
Nah im just like that 💯
Statistically speaking, im beating the odds 100% of the time
if my senior year course schedule changed this semester, do i upload a pdf of my new schedule onnto the portal? or email them
Portal is preferred.
either is good
yALL
you think its a good idea to send a creative essay like the one you submit for harvard if you were deferred
or you think thats overboarding
I'm already overboarding them with like hella updated essays so might as well send 1 extra essay right
lol
yes u should!
while ur at it, submit all of ur amazing works from pre-k too
ur improvement will definitely impress them.
It should be, yeah
It’s working for me
This normal brah dw
Penn breaks all the time
I wouldn’t overthink
i've been getting this message for 2 days now
try again rn
yay it's working now
it's been a while since i submitted my pfas but my checklist does not seem to reflect that. is this normal?
??
yea i think so
i submitted mine like a day before the soft deadline but they sent me an email later on saying that they were missing my info and then i logged in to check the next day and it was all checked off
alrighty tysm
np!
how late can we submit the financial aid forms?
like can we wait until decisions?
(i dont want to fill in 14 pages unless im acc going lol)
Wait penn has a diff financial aid form submission?
idk, i haven't filled any aid forms yet
do u just hv to fill one and it gets sent to all unis?
No theres a couple diff things
But every school’s requirement is different
But idoc also lets u know what the schools need
But apparently penn doesnt use idoc?
so can i wait to fill out financial aid forms until decisions come out?
it was due by feb 1
penn doesn’t take idoc so you have to upload documents onto their thingy and fill out the penn supplement
oh ok i thought that was still there to upload
anyways might be confusing with some other uni's that let u submit late
ya, that’s so stupid
I didn’t know about that until yesterday

and when I tried to upload stuff yesterday they were doing maintence
clown school
🥱
i uploaded my docs like a couple days ago
yeah, that mf is so long for no reason
yea like you have my css profile
use that shit
like the odds of me getting in low as hell
i did everything except the penn supplement
mhm
do i need to submit a non-tax filer statement to penn
if i don't file taxes
my parent does but i don't
Do you work as a contractor or employee?
If you're a contractor, I wouldn't worry too much about it.
If you're an employee, you should.
nah i don't work. i had to submit a non-filer statement through IDOC so i was wondering if i had to do the same for penn
If you submitted your income statements to Penn, I think that should suffice?
You might want to contact the SFAS Office to clarify, though.
Since you're not a working adult, I don't think it'll matter as much.
hello upenn
Hello
eagles lost
valid name
just finished my interview
was pretty fast 30min
didnt spend a whole lot talking about myself
a lot of it was me asking questions about CS/Penn/M&T
i heard interview is pretty important for admission right? how do they put that into evaluation
probably not pretty important" but more "considered"
also the interviewers fill out a form ranking certain aspects and writing responses to questions
or atleast thats how it is with some other schools
I think it's considered "important" but a bunch of other stuff is "very important"
yeaa i think there is a report
submitted my noncustodial waiver 2 days back but it does not show up on my finaid checklist
is it supposed to be there or
is it normal
maybe call financial aid tmrw
umm i think i'll email them
it's barely been two days so i don't want to come across as impatient
my finaid portal does say there's 1 unsatisfied requirement although ive submitted all required documents
Same for me don’t worry about it
I called them and they said it’s more to do w logistics
@blissful ridge are you considered intl or domestic?
oh ok tysm
international
