||One of my friends at my normal title1 public school, is the top of our class (never got an A-), most APs, finished math up to complex analysis, was an incredible writer (won our schools apush and ap lang award), got rec letters from school teachers who were great writers she was hella close with and Columbia/Stanford CS research profs, was super down to earth and great personality, did math competitions, was debate captain, had numerous club leadership positions, owned a math nonprofit where they actually did stuff, and so much more ||

||And she hasn’t gotten into a single top school yet, not even a tier 1 or 2 UC. There is so much randomness and stuff we don’t know about how it works. It’s not a simple pie chart that breaks down how the application process works. There will always be people with insane ECs and essays and people who check every box who don’t get into top schools, and that’s okay. She’s also one of those people who knows that—she knows as long as she continues her hard work, she will succeed wherever she goes. Anyways a bit off topic there, but point is that there is def a random factor and no complete definitive “ranking” as to what aspects are important ||
