yeah what’s the difference between direct and aoi? because based on the way it’s described in the essay it seems like you are set as long as you take certain classes, which would be the case for direct admit anyway.

As my high school experience began in September of 2019, I rushed to the club fair and signed up for the first spot for Science Olympiad . I looked around and there they were, the seniors of the club, those who had spent their 4 years of high school participating in events throughout the state. I desired to achieve the same status as them, and I knew that with my technical ability and passion for learning, I would be able to.

In January of 2020, I participated in my first regional olympiad competition. Over the previous months, I had worked hard on my build event, Gravity Vehicle, an aerodynamic vehicle propelled by potential energy from a ramp. My passion for STEM was exponentially growing and the feeling of participating in more events became natural. The Gravity Vehicle that I built received top 8 in the competition and now my school and I were headed to the 2020 state level competition.

Being a senior now, it is my chance to become like the seniors I had seen as idols. When given the opportunity to sign up for events, I listed my name for multiple events. Soon after I began, the advisors of Science Olympiad contacted me and offered me the role of being the Build team's leader. With all the hours I spent working on events, I received 5th place and a medal for NJIT Regional and other events, as well as satisfaction of leading the team to the state level.

The early action decisions deadline was on 15th of January and still I haven't received any updates. In normal situations it would be considered a defer but I am still not losing hopes haha.....so take it as an example and keep hopes high
