Yes it is!

And unlike other competitive UC's, if you meet the requirement, you're pretty much guaranteed into the major

The earliest you could transfer in would be first year spring quarter

but for most, end of your first year

If you passed AP CSA, you need to take ICS 32A so then you can take ICS 33

If you passed AP Calc BC, you'll PROBABLY take 3 of the following: ICS 6B, ICS 6D, (ICS 6N or Math 3A), and STATS 67
(I say PROBABLY because I'm not sure if you're forced to retake calculus since instead of picking the math 2b for the 3 courses, you could pick the others)

If you wanted to transfer ASAP, you'd have to take at least 2 math classes for one quarter

which is generally not recommended due to how long it takes to learn math, but it's doable

Since we're so close to the beach, the temperatures are much lower here than most other places in California

That's a subjective question, but what I can send you is facts and figures for our engineering program

Whether UCI's engineering is good is relative to other universities and what you're aiming to get out of it

As a strong public flagship university, you can't really go wrong though

The public university undergraduate ranking for engineering for UCI is 24th for 2021

This year it seems we're 38th

Tied with Yale and underneath the University of Virgina at rank 37

I think it's safe to say that we're a strong school for engineering, but not known for it

If you say ANY effect, of course the school's reputation for a certain major will boost your application over others

But attending UCI's engineering program would not negatively impact your career outcomes

Your job prospects will depend on your extracurriculars, internships, and application of your skills

You will learn all the information you need from academia but just a degree from pretty much anywhere minus maybe MIT will get your resume tossed into the bin if you have no other work experience

People in A2C put too much focus on the university they're getting in and not enough on searching for real job experience

(Not talking about you in particular, just talking about a general sentiment of A2C)

Question for UCI CE students: How easy is it to get into CS and EE classes? I am majoring in CE but I might want to take select courses from either CS or EE depending on how my interests develop. Is this possible or are courses typically full? I'm not honors.

Lower divison CS courses are pretty competitive at UCI but usually doable.

If you're not already in the school of ICS, getting the class that you want is a bit of a race

Realistically, it's specifically the entry programming courses that are especially competitive

My suggestion to you would to be to research what specific classes that you'd want to take
