Yhh, I did
that’s what’s up
Any news yet?
it comes out tuesday late afternoon
Ohhk
Good luck to all the other ED applicants tomorrow!
what major are you applying as?
gl
Good luck guys!
bro i literally cant focus on anything rn 💀
i have a ap stats final next week that i need to get a 95% on but i just cant focus on studying for it
That's tough man but just believe in yourself 💯
alr
You can get someone to distract you for the while... my siblings do the job well 😂
did you do the interview or 90 second video?
I intereviewed but i didnt do the video and im afraid that will affect my chances
It's purely optional bro , you've still got that chance...
It's great you got the interview
I only submitted the vid.
do you mind sharing your stats?
😅 I'd prefer not to at the moment... Let's be optimistic and live today without Ao's and stats in our minds 🎉
Ikr
also its kinda strange how washu doesnt have much name recognition
i live in the bay area and go to a relatively competitive school, most people havent heard of washu
True... It's kinda like a secret to the outside
But the students prefer it like that
i told people i was eding to washu and they thought i meant uwash
how do i familarize people with it when i talk about it?
like should i say its a t20 school or does that sound too pretentious
The best way to familiarize it with other students I think is to say it for what it is..... Great campus, friendly and diverse students, quality dorms and food , focus on undergraduates too
Plus it has really good aid for both domestic and international applicants
what time is it coming out?
i applied political science
Any info about the signature scholars programs?
Especially about how applicants are notified of it?
the due date for those isn’t until jan 4 so my guess is no notification yet
So naturally ED applicants would have to wait
yes i believe so
Anyone got the result?
nah but it’s only 2 central time
Yeah damn
good luck you guys
thanks so much!!!!
Good luck y’all
It’s out
Yea it’s out
how'd it go?
I got in!
Same!!!!
deferred 😦
i’m sorry to hear that but i have faith in you getting in regular decision! write a good loci!
What's a loci?
Letter of continued interest
Oh when should I send that?
Depends on the school I’d say
Generally maybe when RD apps go in…?
I’d recommend asking your counselor!
Did washu reject anyone, or did they just defer?
they did reject a bunch of people!
its good you got deferred it means they like you
I feel bad for needing other people's failures to fuel my hopes
international?
no
oo
washuions accepted ed, how was your financial aid package? was it pretty accurate to the npc, better or worse?
im deciding to apply ed 2 or not after getting a fat rejection from notre dame
My efc was above the COA so I didn't get any but they meet 100% of demonstrated need i'm pretty sure, and you can also talk to the fin aid people before hand if i remember correctly
Btw use this one for ED 2 don’t make another one for it
WashU ED 1 + 2
Yall doing the 90 second videos?
I did, i think that it’s a great way to show more of yourself but if you don’t want to i’m sure you would be fine
in the grand scheme of things it probably doesn’t affect your chances all that much
True lol. I think I might want to make one just for fun cuz im kinda in a unique place rn with my extra criculars so it could kinda separate me a bit.
But at the end of the day probably won't change much
i'd recommend it especially if you think it will be fun
that's normally a good sign that your video will be good
i did both
but i do think you should at least do one because it allows the committee to get to know you more on a personal level
is it fine if i dont do the video but i do the interview?
for ed2
i dont really have anything interesting to make a video on
should be! it most likely won’t change your admissions decision
that’s what @teal tiger said that they did
yea and imo its alot easier to prepare for a interview than edit and create a video
i heard its pretty easy to transfer schools once ur there
yea
so is it worth applying artsci then switching to olin?
or just go with olin to be safe first place
i mean just to be safe i would apply directly to olin
i think you need like a 3.5 to transfer schools
I doubt it will impact your admissions that much since its common to change schools
think its 4.21
would applying undecided to the college of arts and sciences hurt?
my school college counselor told me not to apply under pnp because it’s so competitive to get in but idk if i should apply as another psych major or undecided
im not sure bc they do have everyone to come in undeclared anyway
but i also want to do PNP
ah ok
i might apply to the psych and brain sciences bc i can write more about that
PNP makes more sense for me bc im philosophy club president
thanks!
your counselor prolly knows more than me but i thought they admitted via school not major
also keep in mind you can just select this as your 2nd choice major
which is what im doing
either 1. PNP 2. psych+brain or 1. PNP 2. drama bc my essay makes more sense w/ drama
im a theater person
they do, but she says pnp might be more competitive than just psych bc neuroscience
ya i was also thinking of doing drama (i’m also a theater kid)
i’m also president of my schools drama club so that could def be something
i’m just trying to figure this out now bc of the supplement lol
yeah lol
the supp asks about the academic interest but not the school, so should i still include what the school offers for my major?
it seems to be a combined "why major" + "why us"
i would say yes, im writing it like a "why this major and why at washu specifically"
ah okay
i know 😭
im gonna rewrite mine
same
also yah 200 words be annoying
im so sick rn i cant get anything done 😭
aw :( feel better soon!!
thanks, im always sick for christmas lol
rip
Hi! If you don't mind, can I ask you what you took a video about?
mine was kinda strange, i had 3 people talk about how i could add to the washu community
i thought it was kinda unique
That sounds so good! and yea it's def unique as well. Thank you for sharing!!
gracias
anyone here who got in ed this year, how close was your financial aid package to what the collegeboard npc estimated?
#1051003339195822170 message, idk about other people
Discord is the easiest way to communicate over voice, video, and text. Chat, hang out, and stay close with your friends and communities.
anyone know where I can find the ed agreement for washu or does it just show up in the admissions portal after u apply
i thought it was in the commonapp
like for parents and counselor?
its in the commonapp
also u have to do an agreement under that first tab
would it be wrong to mention alzheimer's research in my why us if im applying to PNP? (psych-neuro-philosophy)--it's in the college of arts and sciences, and most of the alzheimer's research happens in the medical branch but faculty within neuro and psych are still very much involved in this kind of research sooo??
i want to mention it because it's something very personal to me
and it was mentioned by my tour guide when we talked about PNP
WashU ED2 here!!
yea definitely!
You can print out a common app or Scoir Ed agreement form and submit to WashU via your Admissions Service Coordinator
One hundred percent, the med school isn’t a part of undergraduate education so any alzheimer’s undergraduate research would occur is a&s or mckelvey anyways, but you don’t have to be going into medicine to do research on brain functions and if you are going into medicine, then you can say that! but especially if it’s personal to you and why you want to do pnp i would include it
you shouldn’t have to print anything out, you put your parents email on the common app in the FERPA and recommenders section and your parent has to fill it out on their end 🙂
Yes, of course. I believe that the individual switched from RD to ED. I know if they applied via Scoir they would print it out.
I had to print mine out and would've submitted it, but I gave it to my old counselor (I am a gap year) and she just emailed it with my other materials to my Admissions Service Coordinator yesterday.
Actually, it's funny. She emailed my stuff yesterday afternoon and my application was completed literally 3 minutes after.
congratulations on finishing your application! good luck 🙂
thank you!
whend u submit ur app
december 4th, withdrew it december 12th because my counselor was refusing to submit my requirements (talked to my admissions service coordinator abt it), and yesterday a school official finally sent all of my counselor materials and stuff to my ASC and so i called her and we talked, and she re-instated my application and finalized it. i got this email today for the alumni interview
did u get one
i havent submitted yet
ooh ok
did you apply for arts+sci?
i wonder if they match an alumni to the school ur applying to
yes!
well good luck with ur ed app and interview 🙏
thank you!!!
perfect, i found a way to include it (the word limit is sooo annoying, i wish it was 250!!)--thanks!
it’s based upon whether or not there is an alumni in your area, i did a virtual interview with a current student
ah so u did it before applying
before applying? no
yeah im just doing both cuz my stats r shit 😭
im trying to demonstrate as much interest as i can
seems a lil awkward to reply to the email and say im not interested also
even if its really optional
lol im the opposite, i love WashU bc they love stats and mine are good
stats, essays, and LoRs are my strongsuit... not EC's or awards
uchicago, umich, UW Seattle, UW Madison, macalester for EA
LSU and Mizzou for rolling
deferred uchi, accepted mac, accepted LSU honors, accepted mizzou honors
oh and USC but not EA or anything, just an early RD for scholarship consideration
thanks! yeah usc is cool, i love the west coast
but WashU is in the middle of the US so at least it's equidistant from everything! nothing's too out of reach lol
a lot of places but northwestern was my ed and i got rejected
uchicago also rejected me
tulane deferred me
but im sure im gettin in
and
the other 10 so far ive been accepted
washu says this on their alumni interview page: The last day for EDII and RD students to have an optional interview is December 31.
this means we have to submit it the 31st right?
i think they just say that
because i just got an interview notification yesterday and my interviewer just said we need it done before jan 15th so that is can be considered in my app
did you request one?
or did they reach out
They only reach out for alumni interviews
ah ok ty
whens the video due
by January 17
Hi guys
Did anyone have idea of ED2 acceptance rate?
I got relatively low GPA and no SAT/ACT, but my bg and activities are strong, do I still got little chance as an international student for ED2?
My counselor thinks the university of Rochester will have a higher chance for me but I don't find research opportunities I like there.
If your number one choice is WashU, then ED.
Don’t ED somewhere just for higher chances.
probably around 20-30
they announced ed1 was 35%
Mine was 3.65/4.0 unweighted but I got the explanation written by the school for the reason of the exam board, only one in my school got admitted in ED1 get 3.8/4.0? GPA+ACT30+?, but my activity should be far better
According to WashU's common data set (for 2021) they put more emphasis on academics than other stuff
Our school won't submit GPA though, no idea how WUSTL consider
Yeah, I knew that
Well to be blunt, if you aren't submitting GPA, you should probably have something to submit to show academics which means ACT and/or SAT
No, the school will submit a transcript, but the one from our school will not contain class rank and GPA
only grades
wat
Well I am not a university but my assumption is they will either calculate your GPA themselves or ignore the transcript
haha
Also how do you guys think about the pressure in WUSTL?
Will it be hard to get high GPA if get in?
No idea really but I'd assume it would depend on your major
pre-med and engineering probably more stress than theatre or drama
Mine will be biology, what did you apply?
Yeah, definitely
I'm a junior but I'm going to apply pre med probably
Molecular bio or biomedical engineering most likely I feel
Oh, still junior in high school?
Since they say pre-health chooses stuff
In US or as iternational?
That's why I have the role
Yep
whats your class rank?
might be rough getting in with that gpa because percent who had GPA between 3.50 and 3.74 is 8%
that is enrolled though
You should really consider taking the ACT and/or SAT if you want a higher chance considering the GPA is not the best
lmao ur gpa isnt even low
I retake one of one external exams, might pull by GPA to 3.7+ if results come out this month though.
Yea but considering they are not submitting ACT or SAT it should be higher
my gpa is lower than his and I didn’t submit test scores lolll
a 3.6 is a solid gpa
oh you’re a junior lmao
What's your BG and what major you are going to apply?
BG? And my intended major is secondary education, but my ECs and gap year experiences are extremely skewed to the field of education
That should be a strong BG I think
My gpa is ass but it’s because of one specific year of excruciating circumstances that were explained
Aside from that one year, I had a perfect honors gpa (4.0uw, 4.3w) as a freshman and a 3.8uw and 4.8w as a junior taking 7 aps, half of a semester honors course, 2 gen Ed electives, and sophomore year was when I had a 2.8uw and 3.3(out of 5)w. So definitely very strong course progression.
My cum. Gpa is 3.39uw and 3.89w.
I’m an early grad, gap year, have a very strong and interesting gap year, have strong LORs, strong essays, applied for the 4 signature scholarships, applied ED2, and so yeah — hoping to have a good shot
I think better safe than sorry
haha, which course curriculum you take mate?
eh
id say thats a bold claim to make when you havent got in yet
its not a bold statement. a 3.6 is a very good gpa
sorry youre stuck in the a2c mob mentality
generally yes for washu not a very good gpa
what im saying is you cant really say to that person
his gpas fine because u applied with the same stuff
lmfao what?
his gpa is fine
a 3.6 is literally far above average dude
Whoa WashU goes crazy
WashMe
Sorry bad take
Horrendous take
I thoroughly apologize to you all…
what are the other percentages
For admitted students?
