#Penn State University (2022-2023)
1 messages · Page 2 of 1
Yeah I got NB
Nb is worth it more than Penn State Harrisburg
Actually imma try convincing Penn State to switch me to University park
I got in Abington
I asked them they said they couldn’t. Try tho
I’m gonna press them and try
Anyone know when the Honors College application deadline is?
In like December lmao
Scheyer was December and we find out Tuesday
Ohhhhhh that's good to know - thanks
WHERE MY SCHREYER GANG AT
ye
bruh
im refreshing
and nothing happening
lessfuckingggoooo
This place dead af bruh
Real
Congrats 🎉
congratulations!!
wooohoooo
I’m excited I got in and all but it’s the only aid I got which is very disappointing so I’m rejecting.. sorry y’all!! Best of luck to everyone
congrats!!!!
That's fair, penn state's aid is pretty bad. Best of luck to you as well!
just got penn state cs university park 😋
Congratulations 👏
thank you ❤️
SCHREYE IS GOOOD
I LOVE SCHREYEEERRRRRRRRRRRRRR
LESSSSSSSS GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
schreyer could be an ivy league ngl
with all the resources they give you
fr? what is it xD
Can we apply for schreyer now?
or after 1st year
because I didnt apply earlier
Congratulations!!
Yep, you can apply for shreyers after 1st year as well
Alright
i got waitlisted from the main campus
i applied jan 22
does it mean main is full
should i just accept the 2+2offer lol
@rancid kelp
Yeah it probably means main is pretty full, but if you're waitlisted you could have a chance later to be able to go to main, depends on how many people accept their offers. It's up to you if you want to do 2+2 tbh, compare it against your other choices and see what you want
is the 2+2 2 at other campus 2 at university park?
Yep, precisely
And the value of 2+2 depends on which branch campus you will be going as well
i selected erie
Have they mentioned when they are going to inform the applicant if they get in from the waitlist?
before may15 yeah
when did u applied
I have 1460 and applied for physics so now I am worried ☠️
I got into engineering without a sat score I wouldn’t worry unless you applied super duper late
did u get ur decision yesterday
i applied jan 27
so i should prob see my edcision like end of this week
I applied end of dec 💀
guys I got into Abington
with a 1470 sat and 89uw
should I email them asking if they could switch me to main campus
I don't think it hurts in trying but it's unlikely they'll switch you into main campus
The branch campuses are pretty good too
Idk abt Abington tho
I got into other similar schools on their main campus
Rutgers and Pitt
Yeah I mean I think those could be better worth versus a branch campus in my opinion
Anyone have any questions? I'll try to answer them to the best of my ability
Did you go in as OOS?
Ah I see
But I might as well have come in oos since I didn't visit campus until orientation:p
Do you know if you stay there for one year as OOS, you can be considered as in state?
for sophomore year?
According to https://admissions.psu.edu/costs-aid/residency/ and https://www.bursar.psu.edu/residency-policy , if you stay here purely for educational purposes, like attending university, then you are still classified as oos
ffs
IB diploma 36/45 with very good ECs and letters of recommendation + good essay ig (International ) what are my chances of acceptance engineering (aerospace)
Unfortunately no chancemes are allowed in the server
But you listed very good things
alright thank you so much
also how long does it approximately take them to give a decision after the completion and submission of the application
Since it is rolling, it depends. Some people got their decision in a few weeks and some in a few months
ye hvnt gotten mine since dec lul
Damn. Hope you get the decision soon
I mean I’m chillin since I got vt but kinda sus
True true
I didnt really experience this type of wait since last app cycle they had ea nov 1st, and i applied EA and got my decision by like around thanksgiving
Definitely, im not sue what the holdup is this year
Do they even look at ecs
I heard that they take everyone that meet a certain Gpa and test score in EA
But idk
nvm
I'd assume they do
Not sure tbh. Could be the case
I did have some relatively weak ecs
is penn state erie good for cs?
had a really low gpa and 1400 sat
got accepted to 2+2 CS in harrisburg/university park
not really happy about the 2+2 stuff
i'd say i had pretty good EC's
CS
Business
I feel like 2+2 makes it not worth it
I just want to be on the main campus
yeah im feeling the same thing
They dont have a minimum gpa requirement, which is why i think i got accepted
im probs going to go to a local town college for my bachelors over the 2+2 💀
witha a 1470 you ddidnt get into main?? sheesh
Didn’t write essay
Copied my common app essay into why Penn State
ah
And didn’t submit common app essay
there wwas a wwhy penn state essay?
Yes
did u get accepted somewhere else?
there was no "wwhy penn state" in my application
weirdd
Rutgers, UPitt, Neu global scholars, Binghampton
it was the supplemental
idk wut it was
ah, i guess it was ur lack of interest
uh do u like penn state or what
and I got Pitt
yeah
I like Penn State
but if I wanted to go oos Pitt would be better for premed
Penn State is cool cuz its closer to me and I liked the vibe
but I got Rutgers
In state
I unironically live in NJ
o:
thx
guys, is penn state harrisburg worth it for 2+2?
depends on major
aint even got my decision yet tf
I got 2+2 Abington I think
CS
they have so many campuses
im not sold on the 2+2 idea
there's got to be come catch not being in the main campus
💀
Cost for me
NJ students have a discount I believe
With 2+2
It would cost the same as my in state Uni
But at that point why not just stay in state
Although NJ
harrisburg and uni park
at least its not ohio
💀
i mean your other schools
your other options
like if you got into rutgers main for four years id go there
2 of them didn't give their decisions yet
💀
i got rejected from university of arizona. which was my "safety"
since then i just forgot about everything and applied to a local college
hmm what r ur options
or where you applied to that you're waiting for
purdue and umass amherst
tho i dont think ill get accepted to purdue at all
i did write the best application for purdue but my gpa is trash tier, and my sat isn't that great for purdue cs
yeah purdue cs is crazy
thats what my friends recommend me
thank u
purdue is nicee
it is
but my gpa is below < their requirements
by 0.1
💀
i was high on some crazy shit applying there
what is it
oh damn
yeah but it was during covid, i took a year off due to mental issues
i did write that stuff as an excuse for my low grades? but i dont think that would matter really
:(( time to cope
I don't think Penn state considers interest at all, they are a huge university after all
Well I mean the catch is that you won't get the main campus experience, but other than that classes are pretty solid in branch campuses, plus lower stress environment for gen eds and weedouts
Lots of my friends took 2+2 and in hindsight maybe I could have. I felt like it was a pretty jarring transition from at home to moving away pretty much. Even though I am in state, like 3 hours away from main
i mean everyone recommends umass over penn state 2+2 to me
At home I had a branch campus near me so it could have been feasible
Yeah I would take UMass over 2+2 tbh
i guess there is the fact that the degree i'll be getting would be university park so i guess thats good?
but i am honestly not sure where to put penn in my choices as the rankings can def not be trusted
Well any Penn state degree is just Penn state. It doesn't matter which campus you study at your degree will say Penn state
But of course there are tons of other things that make a degree unique to people other than a certificate of course
Example is experience, organization, etc
Imo Penn state 2+2 could be midrank,, depends on your colleges
Ohh ok
im losing braincells
Lol ur fine dw
Of course, anytime!
im gonna since they told me too LOL
I applied early Jan /dec still hvnt gotten my decision
So I got into main campus but they barely gave aid
I have to pay like 44k
Would doing 2+2 make tuition cheaper?
yes, it would make tuition cheaper for at least those first two years. by a couple thousand i think
Yeah PSU is a large university and aid is very sparse
for in state its like maybe 4-6k less tuition. For OOS its more like 12-15k less expensive

this kinda makes it better
Yeah but also quality of uni life needs to be factored in, not all branch campuses are of the same quality of life. Some are pretty tiny like Hazelton, some are larger like Berks for example
I applied rd and got psu scholarship mail yesterday. I have to fill some application to be considered. Any idea how much aid is generally given(intl for cs)
uh
you might get the provosts award (24k over 4 years)
i got that as an OOS
Generally aid is very scarce, especially since it is a large university. I was lucky to get a couple thousand in scholarships along with some outside scholarships
I was also given the opportunity to apply to a very good scholarship fund by a PSU alumni but I wasn't selected unfortunately
Gotcha thanks
hey, did anyone commit to the berks campus?
i just got a mail saying i got into the honors program
anyone know what that is
some syra something honors college
Congrats! Schreyers Honors College is quite a prestigious program!
I believe you get priority course registration, plus a very nice $5k/yr scholarship
wait don't you have to do a separate application for it?
how'd you get in without knowing what it is?
they send me an mail saying i got in
i think i have to accept it online
i didn't apply, idk just got a mail
Woww rlly? Iirc you have to apply for it separately
Maybe you're so cracked that they let you in
Or you unknowingly did it on the application
How does penn state rank for aerospace engineering ?
for main campus? yeah around there
It’s rolling admit; so you still have time
yeah but it must be crazy hard to get in now right
is it harder to get into ASU or Penn Sytate
Penn state
It also varies between major
im applying for compsci, will that bve hard?
That’s in college of engineering so maybe? Worth a shot
whats the easiest nmajor to get into
bet
But if you want comp sci just apply for comp sci
too scared for rejectioon
@uncut bay what ab university studies
is that easy to get int]
Bro it’s easy to get into bc you can’t get hired
Just do comp sci
Worst case scenario you get placed into a satellite campus
Then you can transfer
so the satellite campuses aren't bad?
is harrisburg good for CS? I got accepted into 2+2 there
basically nothing . _ .
what are the good ones for CS? apart from Uni park
You can transfer to uni park after a year or semester I think
Oh idk how penn’s campus transfer stuff works
well thats the plan right now, I had a shitty gpa in high school due to covid(infected twice) and all and got accepted absolutely nowhere
2+2 sounds good. Since lower division is pretty much the same anywhere
I feel ya. I got acute bronchitis after a back to back Covid infection and my crappy immune system kept me outta school for weeks
Idk but I think it's pretty high up
They're 17th, essentially T20
For mechanical engineering they are 14th
how would my previous grades from previous years affect my application
because I switched from a moroccan system to an american school in 9th grade
my grades got shit in 9-th grade
got better in 10th
took the IB in 11th grade
grades stayed the same as 10th grade
and now in 12th grade they are good
like 36/45 IB
how would that affect my application
will not affect so much
Generally I think colleges like to see improvement, if your grades got better over time I think it is a strength and shows capability of development
Why does penn state require three physics classes including e&m and thermodynamics
Well I can’t go to this school since my gpa would die from that
So I got uni park for CS
but its hella expensive
and i want to do 2+2
what other campus is good for cs and would have lower tution
@rancid kelp
sorry for @ but i think u are the only one that can help me
You're fine dw! I'm not very familiar with the branch campuses , although I think that Berks, behrend, Harrisburg, Altoona, Abington(?) are among the best branches
I'm not sure if be able to help you regarding which one has a better cs program, though, sorry. I'll try to keep researching tonight about it
Sounds good 👍. I would also say, have you considered other options than 2+2?
wdym other options
Drexel is quite a great college as well for stem
Like , I mean 2+2 in Penn state is great but for the first two years you wouldn't rlly get the main campus standard experience, plus for some reason the computer science program here is pretty good but not very top notch
hmm
But if you're dead set on 2+2 , after research, I'd say go right ahead
u talking about uni park or just cs in general at penn state
Cs in general at Penn state, but it's more of an issue at main campus for lower level courses
Although I am just getting this from here say and reddit posts. I'm not a CS major so take it with a grain of salt
That’s what happened to me for university of Pittsburgh
Got accepted into Bradford or some shit
Like nah bruh
Just going to a trash university for a year just to go to Pittsburgh
Rather would go to ASU
does anyone if the berks campus is good, i got accepted for the 2+2 program
Well if that’s in state for you it might be worth it
Temple university good
What is 2+2
basically im starting at a common wealth campus and then i would get into the main campus
Are you in state
Have you been accepted to anything else
i got into drexel, msu, umass boston and i got waitlisted from colgate
I see so you’re going to have to pay a hefty tuition for just their satellite campuses
Which are pretty bad compared to Penn state university park
Full 4 years for these?
yessir
Yeah I’d reccomend tbose 3 over the penn state satellite campuses
100%
If the cost is the same, that is
Idk if penn state gave you a scholarship or something
But the experience you get on the satellite campuses are not a real university experience, it’s just a mini university experience since it’s not even the main campus
The thing is penn state has way too many campuses , so none of them are that good other than maybe Harrisburg
the thing is i applied for business and Penn state apparently has a good business school
so like idk yet im still waiting to hear back from upitt, utd and university of houston
Yes that’s university park business
It’s ranked high at university park
Not their satellite campuses
makes sense
Did anyone receive a decision for MS CS University Park?
does anyone know around how long it takes for decisions to come out atp in rolling?
mine took like 8weeks
did you receive a email or did you just check your portal
check portal
i didnt get an email
did anyone who applied in Jan rolling get their decisions yet? (CS)
Everyone did
ain't that just nice
is there anyone else who hasn't heard from em yet?
Me
my guy when did you apply?
welp I completed my application on 4th feb so according to copium theory, 8 weeks from then would be 31st so imma wait till 31st
how long does it take to get the scholarship decision
wtf am i reading
people got into shreyer without applying
wtf
thats so fucking unfair
why the hell did i write 11 essays
nah bro im so angry
they take only 300 people
now im learning its a fucking handout?
.
Nah bro what is this
i got accepted to erie
Campus
they said after two years at erie, i can move to the honors college
Frankly I dont think its the case, i think there was some incomplete information about the explanation
if I don't get my decision 8 weeks after rolling then should I mail em asking for my rejection letter?
when did you applu
common app says my app was downloaded jan 15
if jan 15 dudes are getting now then imma have to wait 20 more days
I would still wait. Maybe you can email them or email your local admissions officer about it. 8 weeks sounds like a lot
Congratulations!!
the acceptance before the ivy massacre lmao
it is a lot, everything has been smooth sailing up till penn and UMD, all acceptances but these 2 idiots never dropping my decisions
Yeah I mean atp I would wait maybe a week, you said above people from jan 15 are getting responses now, so you will be coming up soon
Similar with umd I bet
any one here got into berks?
I submitted my application almost a month ago, a week ago they emailed me asking me to update my self reported grades because something was missing, does that mean that my decision is coming out soon since they have already reviewed my Application
it means they started to review it but since you need to update now ur application would be looked after hence prepare for a delayed decision
arizona state or penn state for Aerospace
penn state
I mailed em askin abt my decision the said I’d get it in April end 😭
penn state p good, i was debating between penn state honors college or ucsb
Penn state for any major over ASU
Ucsb
what did you ask them?
That I haven’t received my decision could u help me out
I applied 4-5 th feb
would you mind sending me the email adress that you contacted
I wanna ask them about my decision as well
i got honors program mail a month after i got my decision
Yea me 2
A friend with trash profile got in 2 weeks
bro I swear if I dont get in, then it gotta be witch craft
I deadass think I have a really good profile
but I didnt get into any of the US unis
isn't ucl the top5 uk
it is but not for Aerospace engineering
plus they dont have good athletics
lets go, did you get accepted?
hey i got into berks
Cool. U out of state or in state?
Cuz they gave me like no aid
out of state, i applied as an int student
same
nah not yet, I was just curious
goodluck bro
did u commit to penn state?
nah i j got admitted and im choosing between it and another college so i wanna ask some questions to students
university of washington (but not for CS)
just trying to determine how the quality of life is at penn state
ah, goodluck in whatever you decide! I think there may be a few people here that could respond aswell. But lets hope somebody does invite you to the penn state discord
if someone finds a link plz send it my way as well
udub
also heres the discord
@uncut bay @fading owl dms
lmao ur saying go to udub?
yeah
My condolences
I'm intl and haven't found any psu intl yet
me! although I rejected my offer and am in the process of reinstating it

I might commit if its reinstated
Istg deciding is tougher than the applications for me
YES! its so stressful rn considering im also on the waitlist for my dream school lmao
LITERALLY SAMMMEEE
AHAHAHA WHAT DREAM SCHOOL
UBBCCC
the candian one or something else?
What about you
Canadian
Purdue >:( but it feels like they have a lot of people on their waitlist
Oh yeah my friend too
Where you from btw
what major did he apply
Cs
same 💀
Asian/Ind
Cs is deadly but pays well ig
Us bhai us
I have to say though I have pretty bad stats and did not even expect a waitlist at Purdue
LMAO
Anyways I hope you get in purdue
Thank you! Best of luck for UBC!
Indian CS Major, probs over-represented so im not hopeful but lets see ahahaha
I mean pretty much every indian goes for Cs
yeah thats a problem, i wish i grew up differently lmao
Bruh indian trauma coming out
lol, no, just maybe I could've grown to like something other than CS lol.
True true
Bruh I’m Premed
And Indian
Engineering and medical*
Every Indian. Engineering Medical CS
That’s the magic trio for us
when exactly is the rolling application due for penn state
my sat score is taking forever to send
rolling decisions dont really have a set date on when they're going to give you your decision
July 28th but the later you submit your application, the later you will get a decision, and the more the options are limited
"First-Year applications may be submitted between August 1 and July 28, but options may become limited later in the admissions cycle."
Hey @rancid kelp, assuming youre knowledgeable about the CS program, from what ive heard it is totally awful (the consensus on the reddit atleast), do you have any informed opinions or thoughts on it that you wouldnt mind sharing w me?
(At penn state)
Sure, although im not a CS major. At this time, the cs department is doing a little bit of reshuffling and restructuring, from what I've gathered. With that, there are a couple professors for I think one or two classes required for the major which probably sour the opinion of cs students: one for intro compsci, specifically python (cmpc 131) and one for discrete math in programming (cmpsc 360). Those two classes specifically give ca students the most angst because of certain terrible professors
I wouldnt say that the cs program is terrible, I think it may be pretty good, but what , in a way, poisons the program a bit are those two required classes
Now idk what will happen next year but due to overwhelming feedback by students I'm thinking those professors could get replaced
To get a more informed opinion, I'm gonna ask someone in the PSU discord for you. I'll paste their responses here
HAHA MFS IN THE PENN STATE DISCORD MENTIONED THE 131 PROF
I got a link to one of em but idk if its the same one you do
Yeah hewas (is?) Notoriously bad but the department asked for student feedback so maybe jt will get better
Yep, same one
The decision between udub and penn state is killing me
Scared of going for a disappointing program but also scared of going in undecided
Yeah that one's a thinker
Aw I see thank you
Yep np!
Is this about the main campus?
Yes
Alternate campuses have different professors i assume
Yep you'd be correct
would Harrisburg be a bad campus for first 2 years?(2+2)?
or is there a discord for CS students on Harrisburg?
I'm currently deciding between ccc(transfer to UC's?) or Penn State while staying on Purdue's waitlist
Bruh Purdue’s waitlist=reject
ik
i wouldn't be considering the ccc option if I was expecting to get off the waitlist.
Someone send me the link to psu discord server coz I'm considering committing to psu for cs
U got any scholarship ?
Dms
can I get the invite too
guys i really need your opinions, which campus is the best for the 2+2 program?
Dms
+1 I’ve chosen beaver as my starting campus @rancid kelp is it any good??
I haven't heard much about Beaver so I wouldn't be able to give an in depth judgement, unfortunately
I think iirc it is on the smaller size of branch campuses
I'll have to look up specifics
bruh did u choose your starting campus without checking anything about it? cuz thats WHAT I DID!
YESSIRRRRR U KNOW I DIDDDDD
I'm sure there's still a chance you can change your starting campus, you could ask them
I think the best ones(imo) are Berks, behrend, Altoona(close to SC), maybe Abington
Basically I'd think the better ones are the branches with most students
But I could be wrong tho
I think Scranton is good as well for meche
Got accepted to Penn State Altoona 🥳
congratsss
Same, I wanna switch to University Park haha
I applied like 2 weeks ago for scholarship. Any guesses how much and when the I'll get the aid
Cs, intl
is it too late to apply to Penn State?
isnt Penn rolling admissions?
but I think yes its very late rn, didn't you get accepted to UMinn?
Penn vs SBU which is better for Cs ?
if you want ig you can apply, but i think people would prefer UMinn over penn
idk tho
why would it be late rn to apply, isnt it rolling and the deadline is until July 27th
I'm assuming most of the competitive majors would be full by now
maybe it isn't, idk.
how much does penn state care about the IB?
@rancid kelp what do you think about this?
I mean I think I said a while ago that the competitive majors would be full, but people up until now are still getting admitted for CS to main campus for example
So idk. I think the competitiveness would be increased but I don't think the majors would be completely full
What’s the best campus for Public Policy?
After may 1st, however... Your likeliness of getting into UP probably significantly drops
Ooooo you’re in penn state??
I'm not sure, sorry since I am meche.
Yep
Main campus
How is it?
It's pretty good tbh. The size of the campus has both pros and cons, lots of people, lots of different communities to join
Great sense of campus pride
Downtown is pretty big but somewhat limited and beyond downtown you'd probably want to take the bus or an uber
Personally I don't party or drink, so if you happen to do either of those(I don't endorse drinking btw I'm just saying) then you'd probably have a better time than me
and how are athletics in penn state because I wanna play D1 soccer or D1 volleyball
did u get a response yet?
I emailed them adding more ECs that I coi
couldnt fit on my common app
and I also asked them about when I will be getting my decision
and they said end of april
Athletics are very strong, Penn state is one of the unique universities where a thriving academic and sports program can coexist
Football is obv the focus but I'm almost certain there are d1 teams for soccer and volleyball
dope
thanks homie
Appreciate it
$0
Don't you have to accept your offer quite soon after that then?
iirc the deadline is May 1
hows the deadline May 1st if the deadline for application is until july
when should you be applying for a scholarship (is it only after admission) and how long does it take?
May 1 is national college decision day, but I mean people transfer after that etc, so I guess it doesn't matter much
comp sci?
is that hella competetive in penn state
probs is the most comp one
I mean, I don't really know anything. I am just assuming.
I'd still recommend applying, but I would expect it to be hard to get accepted
Is penn state 2+2 worth it if I can't pay for university park?
Let me know aswell @zenith wraith
May 1st is when you'd need to accept your offer for PSU so that your spot and housing is guaranteed for you in the fall semester, iirc
I'd assume things are different at other colleges with may 1st deadline
anyone who had applied in Feb first week got their decision??
Neh
i think if you applied in feb ur prolly gonna get a wl
i still need to accept my offer. might do when i go to tour
would you suggest i commit to another school instead of waiting for penn state in that case
i hope one of y'all steal my spot
if you have the option yes, commit by may 1 and afaik you can change where you wanna go if you get accepted later.
Make sure to inform the university you commit to about you not attending that uni
You committed to another school?
I’m prolly not going to Penn State
I hope they use my spot well
I got in Abington tho
Nice
Case is nice, although someone at my hs said it sounded like some military camp 💀
Sbu vs penn state vs Msu Firstly in general
then for Cs
Then for Econ
Damn
Penn dumbass
Depending on ur major im guessing
but overall I think that penn state is better
for what major?
bro harrisburg sucks
just go to ASU or SJSU
at least main campuses
Penn State uni park is the best
It's cs, I know penn better but dunno about harrisburg
That's what I was asking about, 2 years kinda wasted If I go for 2+2
Penn vs SBU Cs ?
What is SBU?
stony brook university
this is penn state not up
Sorry for not clarifying, the main campus for Penn state is sometimes called "UP" , "Main", state college , etc
UP is in and if itself an abbreviation of university Park, PA
The curriculum is strong I think but the professor sometimes are lacking in the department
what about for mechanical engineering (Virginia tech v UP)
i heard both were pretty similar
As a matter of fact I'm at Penn state for mechanical engineering! I think PSU has a strong program with a good alumni base in the industry, but I heard VTech is also rlly good too
I'd say whichever one is best for your finances and which you like the best
ohhh ty
University Park yeah that checks out
Yep np!
Wow really how is your experiences with the classes
Icic thank you
They've been pretty good, but I'll say that a professor can definitely make or break a class
Obviously you'd want a good prof
Yep np!
yes ofc haha
how are the class sizes geenrally
Mm I'd say it depends. some general lectures I've been in have about 100-150 people, but that is only for like chemistry and economics, both gen Ed requirements. But some other classes ive had are around 20-30 people
guys when I emailed the undergraduate admissions office about when I will be expecting my decision they said by the end of April, does that mean sometime during the last 10 days of April or by the last day of April.
By the last day of April most likely
Holy hell how is it that late
damn rip
so you saying that I get only day to decide and commit
I didn't say such. it is that for his decision specifically، since he contacted the admissions office and they said by the end of april. So which means any day now. And unfortunately with that meaning there is an off chance it could end up being the day before, that's why it's "by" the end of April and not "at" the end of April.
That's the thing with rolling admissions unfortunately, the later you apply the more you roll thendice on when your decision arrives
it doesn't matter how late it is for me as long as it is an acceptance before May 1st. Because I am committing either way and the only reason why I want it prior May 1st is so I can ensure that I will have housing and meals
well he and I applied around the same time so I feel that I'll get mine around the same time hence the approach
Brotha you alr got in stony brook
Why you care
Ohh okay, I didn't know your circumstances, I just thought you were randomly interjecting in the Convo, my bad 😭
I would email the admissions office
Also if you all aren't already, make sure to check your Penn state portals, maybe there is some type of progress there
You got your decision yet??
Damn
brother it's the end of april going on
Well i guess they meant April 29th
Goodluck!
same brother
goodluck to both of you!
when did you submit your application
we all in the same boat 💀
when did you send it
March 28
brother I sent it a month before you
but I had to update it on march 24th tho
added some extra curriculars
Damn
feb 1st they downloaded on 4th feb
what was the decision my guy
what was it
did u get urs
i did commit but i got a scholarship from a lower ranked uni so idk know
im so confused
15k/year
im confused, im thinking of not wasting any money on my bachelors and do it locally
then i can spend the same money on my masters + phd?
idk
Accept
Main campus?
are u gonna attend?
absolutely no idea
I'll most prolly do a inky-pinky and decide my college
this shows how serious I am about my life

it all depends on how important ur Bachelor degree is for your major/ what you wanna do and also what is the ranking of your lower ranked school
for example I got a scholarship for 22k a year for 4 years from a lower rated university but aint no way im going because Bachelor is very important for Aerospace engineering which is what I am doing
think and search about what both schools are offering in terms of internships, connections and student life and from there you can have a more clear decision about where you wanna go
I've no clue about school, is a bachelors important for cs
I'd go to Purdue if I get off the waitlist
but penn state 2+2 idk if it's worth it
purdue is 100% worth it
look for internships in penn state and compare it with your other school and youll have your answer
If I'm doing it locally it's basically like living depression and no life for the duration of my bachelor's
But penn Harrisburg?
there's no good undergrad research, dead clubs etc
Idk maybe things are better in uni park but then the first 2 years are in a campus in the middle of nowhere
because in terms of actual course work theres not much difference but if you have very good internships and connections then you can even work just with your bachelors degree some pretty good company with a starting salary around 100k
i dont have any knowledge about but its also the second best campus for penn state so it cant be that bad
😭 shits confusing, I don't think it's the 2nd best campus
well i already comitted so
idk

how much is the commitment fee
for what uni
Penn stat
nah I applied Uni park as first choice
harrisburg second
choice
If yall have any questions, feel free to ask me, I'll try to answer as best as I can
Penn state beaver and uni park at the end CS vs Vt Cs??
Cost isn’t a problem
How much do you value social time, and do you prefer a larger or smaller campus
PSU beaver is one of the smaller satellite campuses, has only about 555 students as of 2021
The benefit of that though is that you'd have smaller class sizes and theoretically a more tight n
Knit community
The downside is that there would be less social activities overall
So not much like main campus for first 2 yrs
Virginia tech is quite similar to penn state main, actually . Rankings are similar, similar caliber sports programs(except football), the out of place location of both main campuses too. Even though the student enrollment is much less at vtech
if theoretically you get into a satellite campus can you transfer to the main one after a year
Overall I'd say pick VTech if you want a thriving social life and want something similar to main campus at Penn state, pick Penn state if you want smaller class sizes and smaller but potentially more tight knit community for first 2 years, then go to main campus
Right, I've heard of people doing that, that could also potentially be an option but not guaranteed
I had the option to do 1 yr at a satellite then go to main campus because they over enrolled, they offered a good grant but I decided on main campus anyways. I (mostly) don't regret the choice
i see i see
@crimson sierra did you get it yet
no, not yet.
I emailed them and I called them and they told me that apparently they are behind schecule because of the huge amount of people that have applied, although my decision was supposed to be out by this week, they wont get to my Application until at least a couple of weeks
oh nah then when must mine be 💀
I recently just got MVP for a varsity volleyball tournament and idk if I should add it to my application or not becasue i feel like if I do then it might push the decision even further down the line and I would have to wait even longer
for me they said it cant take longer than a month so i am assuming for both of us someday during the month of May
couple of weeks??
do u really wanna go to penn stat?
if its main campus
u applied in feb right?
nah march
could you give me their email as well
application was downloaded on march 4th but then I had to update my self reported grades and everything on March 31
thanks, maybe ill see you there, you never know
so far my best offers are in the UK
so i dont have any other unis in the US except like Quinnipiac and Umich flint and I dont think I am committing to any of those
even tho I got a scholarship for them
oo how much we talking
clemson but just yesterday
I applied to some of the t10 in the US and didnt get accepted into any
I applied to T10s in the UK and got 3 offers
ok yeah then the UK sounds way better
and rn Im just looking to apply in some good ones in switzerland
but the UK is hella expensive
whats NUS
National uni of singapore
oh yeah I also applied there
nyangan
this one
I applied to like 15
at this point im thinking of just going to the cheaper option, does ranking matter that much?
but the problem is that all the offers that I have now, dont have good athletics programs
and penn state is my last hope
it doesnt but as long as you can find good internship
but i sure hope u do!
thank you
I made the worst mistake by applying late
like I shared my profile/ stats with a lot of college mfs and they all said I can get into T20s for sure
U CAN
fax
im lowkey thinking about take a gap year and then applying very early again
but ill see
are the sports clubs etc not good in those UK Unis?
like you cant play in a division with college in the UK
indeed
bruh
would u attend harrisburg if u got in there?
Probably yeah
i might attend aswell i've comitted
argh college life gets so stressful beginning with the application process.
can i not go back to middle school life ffs
i can only imagine the decision being way tougher for u since u've got way more complicated options

and IB exams next week 💀
I hope you get into purdue tho
or, well i kinda attended local uni but dropped out
thank you!
u got ib exams too?
what do you take
Goodluck to both of u
thanks
idk what i be doing 😭
u've committ to UCR?
y waiting penn decision?
i'd prefer penn
mechanical engineering
oooo
i got into ucr with material science though
I also take physics and math aa Hl 💀
goodluck to you both with your decisions!!
i no lie idk what ucr is
tyty
got waitlist from santa barbara
but people are already receiving their decisions back
i haven't gotten anything aint looking good
was my dream school (ucsb) when i was in sophomore year. but then i got more realistic
is UCR good
not relaly compared to other UCs
damn, i assume people are hearing back from purdue aswell.
is there a place to talk to other waitlists from a school?
was so low our teachers lowballed to match the grade inflation from the last year
only one person got a 40+
truly was screwed over
fr
so you are planning to take a gap year?
💀 where are you going then
probs going penn or completing the degree from my local uni
its trash but cheap?
well
idk my brain is empty
what do you think youre actually getting realistically
are some good companies where you can get good internships for CS
hbu
there*
whats your predicted
nope
predicted 36
no internship no jobs
god damn
for physics could be around a 6-7
sheeshshhh
math also a 5 💀
just like me fr
then go penn state for sure
are you guys in state?
i dont wanna get a job here since starting salaries are like (at best) $300/mo
yeah, bro mathh aa is hell
im inlt
icic im intl also
yess sir
yes ofc
from?
