- because mich has plenty of ways to "make the school smaller" ie MLCs which are living/learning communities. u get to know people who are in an MLC (if you choose to be in one + there are lots of ones to choose from) really well and it's personally where i made a lot of my friends 2. class size is entirely dependent on the type of class you choose to take, so like for example, my first semester math class was an honors class, and so the class size was literally <15 people; i know it also varies based on department/track 3. most people (myself included) like the idea of smaller classes more than we actually like them. larger class size != no interaction with the professor, it just means that if you want to get to know the prof, you will have to talk to them in office hours (which also isn't a bad thing). there are some profs that might like cold-calling kids, which they can't do unless they know your name. also, larger lectures are less likely to take attendance-- which is good when later in the semester you just cannot trudge to class at 8am anymore
