FSU is ranked the same as UMiami, and a very good school too. Affordable both in and out of state. UF is also a great, affordable school that is academically more rigorous than UMiami.

Yup FSU is also a solid choice. I got in with a small scholarship, but personally I would still pay more to go to UM since it's much closer and is located in a better area

Definitely depends on the person. If you are first-gen, looking for more diversity, looking for more academic programs, FSU is the better choice > UMiami.

If you are not rich, you will feel out of place at UMiami.

I am not rich at all, but I really like the academic freedom offered through foote fellows and I love how much smaller of a campus feel UM has, so imo I wouldn't mind being surrounded by people with much more money than I do

but it's definitely not for everyone

the issue is more when it comes to living up to the standard. umiami is in coral gables which is a very wealthy-rich person area of miami. students at umiami are of similar demographic at boston college, tulane, usc, etc. if you are okay with at times being excluded because you do fit the quota, or if you cant always live it up like your friends, then its a good choice

i personally feel like the fsu campus is smaller than umiami

at least thats how i felt when i toured LOL

UM definitely has a lot to offer, but even applying I knew that finances would be the greatest barrier to attending. No normal middle-class person can afford $88k/yr, unless they give you substantial aid
