#Georgia Tech (2022-2023)
1 messages · Page 29 of 1
got in during EA
Congrats to everyone who got in!
^^^
is the acceptance rates high for that
Nope apparently sometimes 100-1000 get in from like 4k-5k ppl there’s no set amt, it’s j based on how many ppl chose other schools over tech
everyone pls go to Yale or something then
;/ was my top school
in state dual enrolled and waitlisted 😔 they really relly dont want me
I feel ya it so sucky, nd ik ppl w worst stats who got in nd idk what went wrong
if u meet all the requirements, yes you'll get in when u submit transfer application
any official server for class of 27 admits?
ill dm u
tahts actually painful
im scared now
GTs randomness is so scary
😭😭
fuck it
im planning to open all my decisions together
on april 1
cuz i have exams to focus on rn
i'm scared and i'm oos
Bruh WHAT?! I have an A+ in college calculus and they didn't accept me?!
What is GT doing?!
I sometimes wonder if some of the admissions officers purposefully decline good applications because they hate their life.
most logical a2cer right here
GT is pretty random dw
bruh grades aren't everything
direct admit, i got conditional transfer with a severely low SAT
i think it's our ec's that got us accepted
well i wasnt directly accepted but yk
true but ik many with great scores, academics, ECs and essays but didnt get in
obviously not yeild protect but
GT always looks for something specific each year
which no one knows
he niche chart for GT says a lot lmao
Well i have good ec's and lots of volunteering. What else do they want. I also have lots of honors and dual enrollment. I don't know what a school would want more.
congrats!
that’s how it was for me ☹️
I was rejected early tho
i got in gtech but uiuc was defer->wait list
tbf most strong applicants have that
they cant admit everyone
i’m probably gonna get a B in calc bc but yeah i have a 76 in physics C rn
Tru
Their loss I guess
It's pretty much a lottery
I had an A+ in ap calc bc when I applied but I just bombed my last test so I have a C+ atm
Same
I feel that rejection pain dawg, but good looks on conditional! Really easy to transfer if u take advantage of it
well I'm trying to do a gap year program is the problem
and it's only for summer '24
so i couldn't do both
sorry to hear g. keep ur chin up tho cuz transferring isn’t easy but isn’t nearly as hard as hs applications (if u wanna consider it)
Oh shoot
There isn’t any way u can take gap semesters between the summers and take like 1 or 2 online classes?
summer*
it's language exchange
Ohh ok
i would be in turkey
Yeah probably won’t work 😹
i doubt i could get 30 credit hours this summer only
but regardless, if u wanna transfer, regular transfer is still substantially easier than hs applying
yeah ik
How many ap credits would u be going in w
i wanted to do a cs/ling dual and gt doesn't have ling anyway so I'm not too worried
uhhhh i would have csp csa physics chem apes spanish and econ i believe
plus 2 semesters of gt distance math
and one at chattahoochee tech but i don't think that counts for anything
solid choice g, go to uga unless u got the 7 year guaranteed at Augusta. I don’t think u will find it hard at uga, was hella easy for me compared to tech
don't like athens
haha I gotchu
I hated Athens when I came in too
but it absolutely grew on me
same for most people i knew there
i like cities and it's a bit car dependent for me
ah yeah
only part of uga campus I've been is the music school though
I love metropolitan urban vibes too, that’s low key why I wanted to come here since 6th grade, but I mean I definitely feel as dependent on a car here as I did in Athens 😹
fair
thats just me tho
my family would be in cobb which is stupid and too racist for marta so i would need to drive for that
Cuz I go to the gym everyday and I’m interning for my roommate’s startup, which is an aggregated version of Uber eats so we do hella deliveries around midtown
Oh would u plan on commuting?
no but when i visit
if u came here?
also maybe laundry
Oh ok
Not bad
Austell is 25 min away from here
So is my crib in Roswell / East marietta
But yeah commuting definitely sucks
nah I was Roswell
oh you were on the fulton side
word same
East marietta is where it actually hits Cobb
i live right by that roundabout by Cobb and fulton
im from jc
oh ok nice
are u going to tech husky
oh ok nice
they're going crazy with the transfer pathways this year
Fr
gt?
50% i might go to purdue though
I somehow got lucky twice
i am trying to get out of georgia
probably not going gatech if i dont get instate
Yo reminds me, if y’all tryna join tech’s transfer discord I gotchu. hopefully this isn’t breaking any rule advertising this, but the tech transfer homies are clutch asffff if u considering transfer, just made up of a few transfer tech dudes who answer a lot of questions about transfer on the daily so dm me if y’all want it
just dm them the invite if they ask
ye
Ah man
solid choice
yeah
I mean I have a homeboy who goes to Purdue and he really likes it
He was finna transfer to tech since he somehow got rejected w that 36 act but he liked Purdue a lot
applies to a lot of people tho, it’s crazy how the first and second semesters of a college outside of tech changes their view
I got rejected the first time from applying to transfer here since I never had conditional and I was about to call it right after and just finish up at uga
when I got into purdue, I sincerely thought that’s where I would end up going
great school
completely different environment from GT
sort of similar to UMich in the sense the town is almost completely made up of college students
their approach to teaching is a bit different too
could you elaborate please
I don’t want to say Georgia Tech isn’t collaborative but Purdue fosters the teamwork mindset a lot better than most stem programs
keep in mind, I’m really only speaking for CS because that’s what I know the most about
after getting 2 rejections yesterday i am quite thankful that i got into my state school and transfer pathway for GT lol 🙏
someone give me hope for hetting off the waitlist as an engineering major 😔😔😔😔
^^
Kill admitted students until you get in
Lmao 💀
yeah college towns are sooooo fun
speaking from my experience at uga
everyone be boolin in college towns
metrocomplexes like midtown are a bit more uh ...
ubiquitous?
bummed I’d be missing out on any real aspect of social life in any of my top schools
Yea from what I’ve heard going to GT is sacrificing any chance at a social life lol
Rly unfortunate
😭
wait for gt is it that the earlier u commit the better housing u get?
yes
you need to commit and then pay the housing deposit to get a better spot in line to pick housing
same fr
doesn’t matter if you get a good roommate
True but I’m not 100% going to go to gt so I would feel back getting a roommate setup then backing out for another college and making them find another roommate much later
bro i j want GT
fuck housing
we'll live on the T of Tech Tower for a while
but admission first😭
do yall have some conspiracy theories when GT comes out for non georgia residents
I think last year they came out mid march
it's been explicitly stated rd gtech for oos will be before march 24th
conspiracy theories💀💀💀
brother did u not get the email?
OH YEAH i totally forgot lmao
Yeah i got it I totally forgot lmao
Housing app are the earlier the better 😩
So Gl with roomates
cant help it when they defer me😭
Conspiracy 💀 lmao
23 days left!!!!
isn't it on the 24th?
good luck!
manifesting jackets dropping all over my screen when i open my decision 🤞
good luck!
Lmao
Actually tho, this whole college application process feels like a whole conspiracy 💀
when is financial aid coming out?
guysssss
if i end this semester with a 78 (c) in calc bc and a 76 (c) in physics c, will i get rescinded 😭
A C is a passing grade so likely not. But two might be concerning
Unlikely but, I wouldn’t risk it I’d there is anything you can do to get those up a little
thakns for the advice 🫡
If you can get the 78 up to a B you should be good
yeah i gotta lock in a bit ngl but theres a good chance i can get one to a B
how bout just 1 c?
I wouldn’t worry too much. Certainly not an auto-rescind
But they may still be a little unhappy
Just do your best
lowkey i have senioriits 💀
Don’t we all
will i be screwed with 2 Cs (still gonna try and get them up)
for what it's worth, anyone stressing about housing, there's only two good dorms anyways and those are typically gone with the first week of housing deposits anyone
yo same i might get a c in ib math lol
which is calc 2
Likely not. It usually isn’t trouble until Ds I think
dont think they will rescind tho
Especially if you have As for everything else
i highkey have senorities
got 6 classes, like 4 or 5 are gonna be B's lol
and i'm fully bombing my IA's so probably not gonna get my IB diploma lol
i mean calc is gonna be a 78 soon but tech and society and mentorship are literally free on levels but the rest will prob be As
Yo, StudentVUE!?! That cursed us looks awfully familiar
damn i have 6 too and 2 of them i gotta lock in to get to a B 😭
Never seen another school with it too lol
yeah thats student view lmao im in georgia
If you get calc back up to a B I don’t think you’ll have a problem
bet thank you alan
Nice I’m in KS and we used that too
r any of yall instate
oh yea i took the act there lol
yes
im tryna figure out who to dorm w
i havent submitted my thingy yet to their page yet tho
boutta do that if my financial aid looks any good 🙏
Isn’t it April
what if you got EA?
Not a lot of time to make your decision before May 1. hmmmm....
Is it true that there’s no social life at Georgia tech
What do u mean by "social life"?
parties and shit?
there are enough imo
not ucla level social life
and if ur coming for that then u prolly shouldnt choose GT lol
but the social life aint non existent as well
worst case scenario, emory is near by
When is RD oos
24th?
Oh I see, Gl to all ❤️
for any current students, does gt allow negotiations with finaid offers through matching with other offers from other schools? (@/reply me please)
funnily enough emory students come to tech to party
Isn’t Emory much more Greek though?
there does exist social life… it largely depends on if you yourself want to get involved. Sure many people are the more nerdy type who don’t particularly enjoy going out so it may seem like there’s not much social life but if you want to there will be something for you. But don’t expect frats to be like the ones at Alabama or somethin
tbh i want to come to gtech also because my grandma is a short drive away 🥹
idk ab percentages, it probably similar, but I’ve heard Greek life at Emory is not as good. Like their sororities don’t really have houses and lots of them come to tech on weekends
Hmm interesting
GT kinda just gives the “nerdy” vibe from outside but like you’ll find your group
I’m only gonna go to GT if I suddenly decide I like engineering
Because it probably isn’t worth it for finance
some of my friends went to visit other colleges like unc and they have said their parties are hella dry compared to at GT but it again depends on ur group
yea idk much ab finance here, prob only worth if ur in state
or if u have scholarship
If I double majored with CS, CE, or IE it might be worth it. But that’s a brutal workload
although tbf it’s not bad
yeah I would not recommend a double major here, especially since having two majors is really only marginally beneficial
it’s not even really 50k, more like 45k
CS and Finance is a killer combo tho
and yeah it’s a nice deal for an OOS school
CS by itself gets hella recruited to a lot of the trading firms if that’s what u mean
My best two schools now are GT and UNC. Unfortunately they split because UNC is leagues better for finance but GA tech is literally t5 for cs and engineering
u can also do the denning t&m program
I wouldn’t say our finance is bad, but not what we’re known for. And the t&m program is really good looks
Yeah Scheller is fine but it’s worse than my in-state Wisco
minor in business in a concentration and major in cs or engineering
I just don’t know if I’m up to the task of engineering
yeah. If you’re unsure, GT allows major changes really easily. Though if ur pretty set on finance or a business major then maybe consider other options
I’m mostly chasing the outcome
So like a t5 engineering school like GT is great
But I did mostly apply to good finance schools
by outcome u mean money or your ideal job?
I feel finance is largely dependent on school and pretty hard to break into those Wall Street jobs unless ur from a T5
it’s certainly many hours
But I also like the idea of cybersecurity and the starting salary from GT in that is like 100k+
Besides it surely has amazing startup opportunities
yea there’s not really a wrong route, just depends what you really want to do
startup stuff is good here too
This may be moot if I somehow get a t10 later this month. But I really do like GA tech, it’s just that I’d end up doing something totally different than if I went anywhere else, for better or worse
yeah that’s fair. Pursue what interests u as the first priority
Yup. I appreciate your insight
fs, gl with the rest of ur apps
Thanks
@strange forge I’m doing finance major cs minor
think I’ll get recruited decently from that
That's a solid combo. I'm just concerned a CS minor doesn't have enough weight
Vs a CS major/ some business minor
But GA tech recruiting is good so it probably works out fine either way
Ehhhh depends where you want to work
I want to work as a quant at a prop firm or IB so think it’s fine
Getting into quant out of undergrad is hard
And IB from GA tech is hard
But it can be done
quant recruiting out of GT is good, tho most ppl who go into quant are cs majors. You still need to be top of ur class bc quant is inherently ridiculous to break into, though GT is kinda a feeder to some quant and they only recruit from select schools.
you should do CS major finance minor imo
ehh
I’m a finance kid at heart
I’ll find where I’m supposed to be even if it’s not IB or quant
For CS, most workplaces are willing to recruit non cs majors, it just depends on your skill set
Ik people who went to faang and other big companies while having a biostat, IS and other such degrees
But if u want a more tech/engineering route then go GT but otherwise a finance major and a CS minor at UNC is absolutely goated
Thats what im looking at right now for UNC. Likely where I'll go unless I get in somewhere better
Yeah
And also UNC gets really good recruiters as well
The RTP has grown so much in the last few years with so many new tech companies,
That’s what matters most.
i feel you
but
denning t&m my g
its really cool
either way, our spot at UNC finance isnt confirmed
so might as well try for denning in 1st year
worst case scenario you still got a great CS program
whereas in unc if u dont get in to your major....transfering looks like the only viable option
Finally got GaTech physical mail
That's hype dude
oh wow intl get mail?
Yeah but you'd have to really fuck up to not get in KF
getting into KF that easy?
i lowkey thought CS and KF are gonna be mad competitive for me
i wanted to do a CS and Finance double major like u too
and the uncertainty of major is really making me second guess unc
im atp where i think rutgers biz+CS is better cuz at least its sure shot
It's like a 40-50% acceptance rate and you can reapply if you don't get it the first time
You have to be focused on getting in KF but if you pass with almost all As and join a few clubs, you'll be fine
Unfortunately KF costs an extra $1k/semester too
damn
but the roi for cs+finance is high
so im not that worried about the cost
my parents are luckily willing to cover it
hahaha i'll be damn focussed when i know my future payroll depends on it😭😭
I thought we don't but yes we do
That's what I'm thinking
UNC isn't a super hard school either
has tech started spring break already? Idk if I should be expecting an email back anytime soon or not
if thats the case then fair enough
also
as an OOS/Intl admit
i think my stats are way higher than most other non a2c instate unc kids
so i think we'll make the 30-40% cut
without prior knowledge in biz lol💀
Exactly. The average SAT of KF is like 1450. We'll have no trouble getting in
Just talk to your advisor day 1, make a plan to get in KF, and apply it
whats kf ?
ohhh
yepp
unc should be pretty easy compared to gatech
CS isn’t that competitive. I heard everyone who got at least C’s in their pre reqs was accepted so it’s honestly just weeding out people who aren’t made for CS
Which I see as a good thing bcuz I’m not worried abt if I will be accepted or not bcuz that just means you’re not cut out for it
guys what is this years acceptance rate for Aerospace engineering
89%
i dont think the numbers are out
ahh then fair enough
no worries then
When does GA Tech come out next Friday ?
Isn’t it next next Friday
doesnt georgia tech historically release decisions on second friday of march so its today?
wait
i have no clue
its on march 24th
fuck fridays
march 24 is the date
y'all need to open your mail more often smh
coping
4th friday usually
they said 26th march last year and released on 25th
Yeah isnt estimated the 24th
any mf here taking the IB diploma who got accepted / rejected
a friend of mine last year got into g tech with the ib diploma
44 expected 45 actual tho
public state school dont got much aid money
they're already heavily discount the cost of a degree for in state students
Deferred
same
what was ur predicted
IB 45/45
1540
5 APs all 5s
bro how tf everybody here is getting +40 on the IB while its probs the most challenging high school diploma
yall are some weird mfs bro
Just 4 in my school
No one who isn't comfortable sharing would share, entire server is full of us
Lol
sad man, International Asian male Cs in the bin
bro cuz everytime I ask for someone's IB score on this server they be telling 42 - 45
shit makes me wanna kms
Hey man, don't worry
Don't forget they compare you regionally, your school, your area, city .. country
Some schools hand out really inflated predicteds, they AOs know what they;re doing
If you've done comparatively better than most people you know in your proximity then look forward to decisions, ignore the stuff on here
^
Sweaty schools prpbably
My school has massive grade inflation, like 10-11/58 of my graduating class have 40+/42 preficted
my schools predicted are the harshest
but usually its only 1 point 2 points max difference from the predicetd ones
either above or below
how I go to sleep knowing I don’t have to deal with IB bullshit
Lucky
My school has massive grade deflation
tbh we kinda fucked our juniors over lol cuz when our grades drop in finals we'll either be blacklisted and/or they get deflated preds
not posted on their site?
Isn’t that generalized
check the bme schools stats prolly
Yes I got accepted
Don’t worry
I didn’t do predicted but I’m not sure I’ll even get the 24 points to pass
congrats homie
are you intl
No
makes sense then
idek why i applied here
Does GT match other schools in terms of money? Or can you negotiate aid with them using other schools.
Yooo same
Am I gonna get rescinded for straight B’s
nah
what abt a C as well
unlikely but just curious
since im struggling w calc bc i stopped caring abt school
💀
Any information through counsellors about decision release?
yeah im also curious about this
all b’s, one C?
If you applied with all As it's gonna look bad
But probably not bad enough to get rescinded
Getting more than one C would probably mean needing to write a letter explaining
And that's even possibly necessary with all B's but I doubt it
me too dawg
just keep them up as much as you can ig
I think we can get decisions this week
How do you know?
🤞
nah it's confirmed for the 24th
Is it?
In the mail they just told before 24th ppl will get
Oh
i thought gt comes after uga always
i have given up on colleges
im opening everything together on ivy day
💀💀
fuck release dates, i'll open them when i feel like😭
The wording on the decision date in the portal changed from "by March 24" to "March 24", so I'm p sure its confirmed for that date now
the anxiety is gonna eat you away
💀
Me fr
Yeah but we all know when you feel like is the minute they come out 💀
Not one person here has the patience to wait for all decisions before opening
this fr
unless you have emails disabled
probably
but im trying to not open it till ivy day by hook or by crook
my mum will open all decisions in case i get any waitlists and they need immediate action
💯💯
then i shall prove u wrong
i've made a promise to myself and im gonna try my best to hold it
i think i can
cuz
I’ve not opened any since mit
when purdue was supposed to come out
i didnt care
so i wont
i wont open them till the end
This is the way
that way i'll lose the value of the decision and hence be less disappointed even if i dont get in
respect that
Oh wait I lied I opened uw this weekend lol
But other than that
!!
fair enough ur allowed one lol
Confirmed 24th
Thank you again for your application to Georgia Tech. We are currently in the process of holistically reviewing all remaining applications for our 2023 first-year class.
Admission decisions will be released Friday, March 24, 2023 at 7 p.m. ET via your admission portal.
That email got me for a bit lmao
now i have that and the jpegmafia album to look forward to
are decisions time sensitive? eg: waitlist
Don’t burst his happy bubble :((
Guys is there any way we can see our decision before hand ??
yeah. GT gave me ~10 days to accept my waitlist spot last year
Wait u took a gap year??
yep
Yes, if you go outside at exactly 2:60 AM on a day when there is a waning crescent moon, and you wear an outfit made entirely of raw meat, and you spin in circles singing Dance Till You’re Dead, an ethereal being known only as the “Georgia Tech Prophet” will float down from heaven and tell you
I tried it last night it worked well
yes
my mom will accept it for me
Sounds fun will give it a try today 🤣🤣🤣
she will open all my decisions as they come lol
I wish rejection letters were like this;
My mom would just be accepting my rejection for me 😦
u never know bro
ohh cool then
lmaoo no intentions to
I was thinking abt opening all at once but thought they're time sensitive so didnt do that
best
guys is the GT conditional transfer pathway guaranteed?
I think so
yea but u gotta meet their requirements like gpa and stuff i think
can international students get that?
I don’t know
Ik it’s offered to anyone with siblings and above average stats
*siblings at GT
but there is a guaranteed transfer for general students without alumni
Fax
do i need a georgia tech account? only just noticed
dont need finaid
i have the admissions portal, but only just noticed the banner at the bottom
you should have one set up for oscar
but I don't think you absolutely have to
admission portal iirc
try signing in on this: https://oscar.gatech.edu/
Georgia Tech's frontend for the student information system is OSCAR: Online Student Computer Assisted Registration. It provides students with resources for registration, secure access to self-service tools, and links to other essential information.
perfect, it detected that the account wasnt active and im updating password etc
thanks
no problem! glad I could help
Why does the financial aid tab have a pay now option
idts
what does a rejection letter look like
We had a record amount of applicants this year, and unfortunately, we cannot admit them all. We regret to inform you that we cannot offer you admission.
oh okay thanks
did u get wl?
there is also a personalized video if u get in on the portal
yep
a girl who got into berk early
got a full ride from scu
Thanks
yes
best thing about ga tech is u can switch to whatever major u want
although i've heard during sophomore year it gets competitive to switch to CS so keep that in mind
when u commit u confirm ur major
but i got into the business school i believe
and u can switch to like any major
it’s not competitive tbh it’s just they get stricter the longer you’ve been at tech
like i got in as an EAS major but like if i wanted to i can switch to CS before freshman orientation if i ended up committing to tech
when u enroll you get a form to confirm or switch your major to anything
mhmm
damn really?
yeah!
idk y u would tho tbh scheller is so good
so just to confirm, even though i got into the business school, i can change majors?
yes
i also got into utaustin which is better business so idk
the world is your oyster
tech is far better for quant i know that much
let me@put that on my list
quant is good cause money LOL
but you gotta be crazy at math and i’m not amazing at math
tech will make u so good at math
i have a few friends who failed calc and stat in hs but are now math majors at tech bc the profs are just that much better
damnn
is tech or ut cheaper for you
i’m from new jersey so both are similar i think
this is still crazy to me LOL
cause theoretically cant you apply to a non competitive major and then switch majors?
yes
yes u can!
this is one of the only schools where i've seen such a laxed major switch
but ur like app is so dependent on ur major so its like kinda sus if u like are super cs in ur ecs but then apply like english
or maybe i’m just overthinking it
and some ppl do switch right after acceptance but tech often won’t let you in unless your desired major lines up with your application.. so like i had a lot of business ecs but if i applied biology i probably would not have been accepted
my app was focused on business but i showed i was also into cs
like in my essay i said i wanted to do the business + cs program
which you have to apply to
yup t&m
did you get in for business?
i did
congrats
but i’m instate
yeah so it’s easier for me but also so cheap
honestly georgia tech is a pretty good option then
are you looking to go into finance?
almost every ga resident at tech gets a full tuition scholarship from the state of ga
probably tbh
kinda want to do marketing and finance
so im intending to go to finance too
but i heard for finance they're looking for more technical people (cs, math, physics)
so maybe major cs minor finance
but i have no clue
yeah i interviews for a business deans scholarship and at the event we had like a current student panel and business school tour and it honestly is incredible
interviewed*
i get that they definitely were putting their best foot forward but the programs they offer are just unparalleled
i was thinking ut austin over tech but now im second guessing myself
i didn’t either yet tbh i don’t find out til later if i got deans
ut is like 63k oos i think? but gt is under 50 (barely)
yeah i mean i dont think cost is that significant of a factor for me
like i think its prestige and opportunities over cost
i mean both are urban setting but when it comes to roi tech is just so much better
also i got into business honors at austin
which is only for like the top 200 ppl
thats why its hard to choose as of now
tech is #1 for career development in the nation.. at my interview event literally every student i spoke to was on their like 3rd internship already
that’s insane
it’s so hard to turn that down tho
yeah
honestly though, i have a lot of RD decisions, so maybe something will sway me
is there any other finance major thats a bit more techy? ill have to take a look
so switching majors is basically confirmed right? like if you switch a major you'll most likely get the major especially if you do it soon
living a state away, unlucky ☹️
timeframe doesn’t matter. if you switch when you enroll you will 100% get that major
alr tysm
ngl i need a room mate for tech 😭
zell miller scholarship
OPEN IT
but kinda understanding now how it may get difficult when gt comes out
how do u know u got it?
do they email u
yep
how u gonna survive
they released a wave today
fine ig, im not that stressed
cuz i have unc and unc is better than neu
didnt open mit yet either
cuz thats auto reject
bruh
my mum and sister opened it for me
oh
to accept waitlist if thwre is
had to download neu decision letter cuz they dont show it again iirc
at least for deferral they didnt
how u download it
so yeah, its just marinating on my desktop
my mum did
i'll lowkey be so stressed when mich, usc and gt come out
luckily it'll all be by march 24
and im opening them on 30
lmaoo
so ur saving those to the 30th?
scary
yess
will open them with penn and berk
why not lmao
i wanna learn patience
and
if i reach a state where im not bothered of unopened decisions
i bet they will email u saying
i will not
u have a decision
be worried
and we have not detected that u opened it
my sis or mum will open it for me so no worries
is gtech out
nope
nothing out till march 24th right?
yeah
Thanks for letting me know
yeah i prolly got into their intl programs
who wants that ew
i wanrt GT
Wait… you mean to tell me that GT_simp wants GT?
Wild stuff
I also want gt but it’s not gonna happen for me haha
😭😭😭
why?
never asked your stats
mind sharing them in dms?
Sure, not bad stats just losing hope a little
okay same lol
1/3000 chance
a usc moment
this should include deferrals right?
it says "Students who applied in Regular Decision" tho
literally says "or were deferred" right after that 😭
Your right
That math is wrong 😭
21% or smtng chances for deferred kids i've heard
y’all have a good chance
I hope so
all engineering is competitive
almost every course is competitive for international
This all very true
so its the same chances for all types of engineering
more competitive than most other majors
is physics competitive?
you get accepted to GT not by major
and once you get in, you can switch to any major (except music theory) when you do the major enrollment form
wut
michigan is april i thought?
no one knows for sure
and april 1 is too late for mich
historically has come out before that
Heard rumors it’s today or next Friday
Thank you again for your application to Georgia Tech. We are currently in the process of holistically reviewing all remaining applications for our 2023 first-year class.
Admission decisions will be released Friday, March 24, 2023 at 7 p.m. ET via your admission portal.
same bro same
guys if I get in as an econ major can I switch to cs?
Yes
Literally the easiest way to bag a top 5 CS school
Still not easy per se
But relatively easier than applying for CS or some convoluted major change application at another school
wait I thought it was top 6
I suppose. But Berkeley truly sucks even if the program itself is good
i'd rather go to stanford fr
Crazy campus and culture
understaffed
It's really a pit
yeah
But job placement is 😘
Yes. Haas and CS are truly top tier
I just assumed since they have so many kids that it wouldn't be that good just due to the sheer number of grads
oh yeah
haas
And it's excellent at everything else still
the school they're making more competitve my year due to direct admit
augh I hate how berkeley had to make everythign harder just the year i get accepted
That's the other thing. You can get in and get utterly fucked over if you don't get accepted to your program
Imagine not getting into Haas after your first two years
Like wtf are you gonna do
Berkeley econ is good but it's a far cry from haas
like i don't think it even counts as a target school for ib
yeah
so sad
rip berkeley dreams
it was nice romanticizing it for a good month
<3
Sorry I don't mean to ruin your image of it because it is a good school and most students like it. It's a massive W to be accepted
But
It has it's share of problems for sure
oh no, I found all this out like a month ago
the high demand major thing killed it for me tho
yeqah
cs was my backup
i was just planning lscs if i didn't get haas
but eh
who knows
Damn just suffer through it at Berkeley then it's probably worth it
for what?
the cs?
I'd rather go to an ivy
even though they have plenty of problems of their own
but at least you aren't limited so much like you are at berkeley because admin can't get their heads out of their asses
Have you seen georgia techs m&t program?
no
I didn't apply to any because my profile was like purely business
is it any good
I've heard it is
I applied to tech and got in for finance but if I do go to GT I'm gonna probably switch majors lol
Computer engineering salaries are crazy
lowkey I might just go from finance bro to tech bro
work life balance is soooo much better
Fintech bro 🤑
Tied for 5th for undergrad
When do financial aid packages come out
tbh this is only a problem for lower div classes at the beginning and after that it thins out
this is defo an issue
yh 2nd highest overall after caltech
caltech stanford and berk got those silicon valley jobs
tbf the only reason mit is so low there students end up starting up more companies instead of joining or getting employed but yh
why not apply EECS ?
what's this based off of
i think this is where @fallow lance got it from
average starting cs salaray is at like >100k now for the top schools
inflation is crazy
got fucking ucsd but undeclared major
practically impossible to get into CS first year
🫂 i got UCSD ee
That's hype
💀😭
which other UCs
Atleast you got in
uci, ucla?
I know mfs who didn't get Purdue
UCLA rejectede
i had been deferred originally
Didn't apply uci
so yes im happy i didnt get rejected from purdoo lol
UCSB releases on 21
same
nicee good luck
Ye 💪
Ucb tho 🥺
Same, my remaining ones are the ones i really want
fr fr
UPenn, GT, Mich, USC, UC Berk
eesh
i have a personal vendetta with cmu
rejected me ed
yield protected from scs fr fr
😭😭
yeahh
had they offered admission
wouldnt have had to sustain this bloodbath of an application season
rooting for gtech acc
good luck
thankss
Want to ask too
basically j regular rd chances
it's historically been around a quarter
or a third at the max
eesh
i researched into it more
and found out
i technically havent gotten into any UC
i got ucsd for undeclared and getting CS is close to impossible in first year
its a mega capped major
then uci is waitlist
and ucla reject💀
yuck
who cares
GT better
wait that’s actually pretty good
try not to get hopes up challenge (impossible)
