like no poor kid can do horsebackriding while most rich kids do

these things indirectly do end up testing important things that are needed to get good grades in college in almost any subject

but thats just it - only college readyness, nothing else

the US school curriculum is so bad at its base and most people dont tend to do insane APs so thats probably why u like the sat so much

its a metric that can actually be used to compare well

if the school curriculum wasnt so easy and it was actually challenging to get a high gpa i envision a utopia where its all gpa based and gpa is factored in much more

Not every person gets it the first time, and there are some books that greatly help/benefit you, and the free resources can only take you up to a certain point, see in your experience, it worked well but also consider "Did I do this math stuff before a while ago bc I had already learned it?" for a lot of people, like you said the time is tough because they have to support their family by working as otherwise they don't have the necessities to entirely live, and also with just the online resources available, it might be harder for them to prepare bc they don't know what's most efficient or not, etc etc. I am not saying that you using the free resources and doing well is bad, it's just that it doesn't work like that for everyone.

I don't think it tests what you have learnt in high school exactly, and I still dislike the fact SAT is used in colleges - let me remind you I think it tests your skills in Academic performance - not that it is a good exam. If anything I fucking hate the CB and the SAT

But at the same time, I will have to say it does test you on things that most majors and subjects directly or indirectly need for you to get good grades (albiet, I will say, you can good grades with several other factors than just the ones it is testing)

The math section tests your logical skills (not by a lot, but basic ones atleast)

Then the English reading & writing sections test your coherency of understanding the texts, putting facts together, your comprehension of what is the best and most concise explanation as well as making you fill into other tiny details.

If you do think about it, for the most part, all of these skills are what you have to follow through in college while you write essays and understand the subject matter you are being taught. (Ofc, several other skills come into play for this, but the skills that come into play the most often are these)
