honestly i think i knew i wasn't going to get in. rereading my supps, they weren't great and they weren't enough to make up for the lack of outstanding extracurriculars i had. i just didn't stand out enough as an applicant for them to accept me. that being said, columbia was the first campus that i stepped foot on and went "i can actually see myself here", and i really loved the major i had selected, as well as the clubs they had, and i just really enjoyed the vibe on campus when i did the information sessions and walked around with an alum. i knew that columbia had a video for all accepted students & that's the first thing you would see, so when i opened the status update to a letter and saw how short it was i knew it was a rejection. and it really fucking sucked, and i'm still a little upset, because i loved & dreamed abt this school for so long, but i guess i just wasn't what they wanted (and admittedly, i should have just done better)

yeah i just wanted to say all that bc ik people say that rejection is redirection, but it definitely takes time to believe in that. getting rejected from your number one school fucking sucks, and being upset / crying about that is valid. (don't let anyone make you feel bad about crying if you're rejected from you #1 school btw. it's a normal reaction, and it doesn't make you a loser to be upset.) it also really sucks when you see people getting into it too, so if you need to, i do recommend closing out of A2C or turning off your phone for the night to process. at the end of the day, i do believe everything works out, but it takes time to believe in that and that's perfectly okay
