I've been eyeing uChicago for awhile now because of their pretty open curriculum. I'm able to essentially enroll in whatever classes I'd like to, which is super awesome and somewhat unique, especially as an engineer

Also, they have a really unique atmosphere and excitement on campus because everyone that goes there really wants to go there. (b/c they have like an 85% yield)

Yea, the core is required, but I like that it is required because that means that I am forced to explore a lot

I love learning about everything, so I actually like that it's required

It means everyone has some knowledge about each subject

Open in the sense that I am not forced to take certain classes. I get a fuck ton of freedom, especially compared to every other engineering school in the country

PME is one of the only schools that allows students to get a engineering BS and take humanities classes

I was told the contrary on my tour. You take any classes you want related to science, so you could take an environmental sciences class that talks about the effect our daily lives have on the climate. Or you could take classes that focus more on the chemistry and biology behind nutrition.
