#ED Cornell CAS vs. Brown for CS + Bio

I'm actually in a similar situation than OP, what school do you think would be more generous in FA? (I'm international too, that likely matters)
Honestly, it's really hard to say unfortunately! I'm sorry I can't provide a clear answer, and I wish I could, but it really is dependent on your financial situation and by what the school defines as demonstrated need.
On the bright side, though, both Cornell and Brown do promise to meet full demonstrated need for all students, and both schools offer loan free financial aid.
I'll have to check if this applies to international applicants
It does apply to international students!
They do it for everyone who is admitted.
That's great 🙂 Thanks for the insight
Brown is also working to become need-blind for everybody by 2025, which is also pretty nice.
It's a bit off from now, but they are being more conscious about it.
I thought only 9 schools or so meed full demonstrated need for international students, do you know anything about that?
It's way more than 9 thankfully!
It's about 100.
Oh, I might've gotten confused. Only 9 are need-blind for international students
If I'm not mistaken
Ah, that makes sense! You're right, it is 9 now.
Bowdoin and Dartmouth recently joined as need-blind for everyone schools.
Are these grouped in a list online or something? That'd be helpful, if you have access to that
Yes, they are!
Need-blind admission is a term used in the United States denoting a college admission policy in which an institution does not consider an applicant's financial situation when deciding admission. This policy generally increases the proportion of admitted students needing financial aid and often requires the institution to back the policy with an ...
And pretty soon, Brown will too which is nice.
It's actually 8, according to Wikipedia, dang.
There is one more called Minerva!
But they're a bit of an odd school.
And they work very differently compared to most universities.
I think so.
Oh yeah, I totally forgot there's a tenth need-blind for everyone school.
Sorry about that, I should have mentioned it.
Georgetown is also!
The only big con of Georgetown though is that they can't guarantee meeting full demonstrated need for international applicants unfortunately.
But they are need-blind for everyone.
No worries!
Best of luck for ED apps OP!
cornell is not good my friend in engineering hates it there
what are u applying for
cs!
?
yea thats sucks
a&s requires u to take a lot of gen eds
ppl outside eng and cs don't complain as much
id apply to the bio program if i were u their buildings nice
i toured w my friend
I think CAS is easier for men because the engineering school prefers women due to an imbalance in the number of men to women applying
That might have changed post Covid though
Deep Springs is also need blind for everyone, but they're also a weird school to say the least
The CS building is amazing though?
