Friendly fire is disabled in a pvp game. Those who play PVE don't care, but those who play PVP don't use tactics. Combat involves crowding forward and pressing the punch button, sorry sight. Turning on friendly fire, for like 50%, will force people to learn how to play the game, and not be dummies who, apart from pressing one button, can’t do anything else.

I agree. Only issue I see so far with this is when u get a giant mob of NPCs on you in a camp and for that I say maybe just slightly reduce the amount of NPCs. In the camps but change there loot and respawn rate to accommodate for that.

This topic goes along with the combat system in general tho needing a major change

While friendly fire can be toggled off in the inventory screen. What you're asking for is consequences for indiscriminate swinging of weapons, and there is that already in the game. If you hit an ally, you interrupt their attacks.

But with the way the mobs and wild animals are currently I’m not sure it would work great

#

You’re have to change both imo for it to work. Which would be better I think but I highly doubt they would do that

Should be a part of combat improvements if they ever get to it. When I think about peak melee combat I almost always think of the way Last Oasis combat worked, it wasn't perfect but the foundation was very solid.

Yep. LO itself lacked any content whatsoever. The melee combat tho and player movement was really good. Probably the only reason it didn’t just die on day 1

How I wish the combat at least doesnt stuck whenever i do attacks. They should fix this its interrupting my strategy of my attacks and its frustrating. You can see when I shaked the camera it means its stuck! It wont do 8 directional blocking. Only to resolve is to finish that stuck up attack

perhaps the damage would be greatly reduced to team members but I see no reason why you shouldn't get messed up if you are shot by your own siege

Friendly fire should be enabled immediately on PVP servers.

Chivalry2 has friendly fire, and it is 25% of regular damage, this works great in that game. Friendly Fire would dramatically increase the level of skill, tactics, and strategy for players to have more engaging battles instead of just swing spamming in giant blobs

The problem is the combat is so wonky tho. I like the idea of friendly fire and not just spamming but the more I play the more I can see the combat is just bad and needs to be better and more “reliable” before anything else. A big issue I’ve seen is if it doesnt seem to cancel an attack if one person hits the other first. Then on top of that I’ve been in voice with people fighting and on my screen I hit first and on theirs they hit first. So the combat in general is just not good at all.

They need to get the lag/latency under control. I'm not sure the thought process of having a pvp game that is largely figured on melee with such a poor connection. I can't even fight NPCs fairly sometimes because everything will appear to lag and I can nice but then I take a ton of damage all of a sudden...

That out of the way, friendly fire has been needed for 3 years. No friendly fire is part of what had led to the zerg meta of official.
