Some steel, black Iron or meteoric iron tools with better durability would be even better

Bronze hoe and sickle are unlocked before iron tools, so im not sure what you are asking about here

Meh, yes and no. Polished iron tools do pretty good as is in terms of collection time. Rare wood and meteoric can take awhile to hit still, but thats also kinda intentional. If they added mor tool tiers it would be more about duribility rater than power i reckon.
Also now you can forge iron tools, making them a good bit stronger as well.
