Scramble: F2 U’ R2 D’ R2 U2 B2 U2 B2 R2 U2 F L R’ F’ L’ D L D U F

Sorry about the heavy breathing you can just mute the vid lol

Your cross was pretty good, I would personally do x2 U L B F2 D2 L' (notice how the U move not only bring green next to red, but also sets up orange in a way that after inserting blue it is attached to its center). This solution also makes it easy to track the orange-green pair as it is only affected by one move and stays on top after cross, but this is kinda an advanced thing, you don't have to think of that yet actually.

For F2L, two times you had the triple inverse sexy case, and you always had to put the corner on top of the edge with U' and then start doing the solution with U, instead you should be able to spot the pattern right away and just start with R U' R' U R U'... and so on, not to mention that for the third pair you did a bunch of unnecessary U moves. Another thing is the rotation before the last pair, which was totally unnecessary and you ended up having to rotate back anyway. Remember to always rotate only when you know you need to, never "just because".

Thanks for the tips. I can definitely do some deliberate practice with not doing unnessecary U moves and Rotations during F2L but how do I practice finding better cross solutions? I’ve always struggled to find good cross and plan them in inspection even after I’ve watched videos and example solves

Do solves with unlimited inspection time so that you have the time necessary to plan the whole thing. Also you can use speedcubedb cross trainer, it’s a great tool, it gives scrambles which generate crosses that can be solved in a certain number of moves

#

So you can start with 4-move crosses for example so that it’s easy to find and plan them, and gradually increase the difficulty with 5, 6 and 7-move crosses

#

Also you always know how many moves are needed exactly so if your solution takes more you are sure it’s not optimal yet

One last question: How should I memo the solution? Do I think in my head “D2 R F’…” or Is there another way

lapis ravine
#

Definitely don’t memo any letters cause it totally misses the point, rather just try to remember your thinking process when you found the solution

#

Idk it’s hard to explain

#

But you want to remember it more visually

#

Or even better imagine yourself doing the solution, as you have to also think about the finger tricks

U should plan first 2 pairs, and also your cross was a little bit slow because in the mid r cross if you did a m2 move you would have got cross + first pair at the same time

@shadow geode has reached level 2. GG!

I don’t even know how to do an 8> move cross, muck less Plan it in inspection and your asking me to plan cross+2? No thank you

Btw your f2l is great.

#

What cube is that? Rs3m

I have that cube.

I don’t know how I somehow made an RS3M slow but I did

I avg 25 I

Use gan no 1

cedar moss
#

I got a Gan 12 leap but I didnt like the feel so I switched to RS3M because it was cheap and I really liked it

And I clean the cube every 4 months because it can get dirty

cedar moss

Ya I figured that out

Should’ve got tornado. V3 maglev

Instead of the 12 leap

My grandfather bought it for me before the Gan 13 or tornado v3 were even released

#

It was switching from my Rubik’s brand to the Gan 12 which finally made me sub minute

cedar moss
# shadow geode Btw your f2l is great.

Thanks I learned the 41 cases when I was sub 35 but as you can tell from 44’s critique I still have a lot of work to do with recognition, rotations and u moves

I use intuitive

Interesting

#

So maybe I can give you this tip that you may have not heard about

#

For reducing rotations

#

Look at the top sticker of the edge, I’d it matches the color of the front or back face then you don’t have to rotate, if it doesn’t you just have to rotate once

#

So for the last pair here for example, the top color of the edge was orange and you faced red so no rotation was necessary (and this is why you had to rotate back after you did the rotation)

What lube do you recommend for an out of the box rs3m?
