Nah that was just Autumn spouting out garbage to rationalize the horrible things he did to justify it, like he even claimed the Enclave was at its height as he was actively losing project purity. The entire idea of "I'm going to save the wasteland" is unfounded when his forces were actively executing wastelanders for not doing a genetic screening and his goal was more about control than it was about actually helping. The speech check where he goes off is just his denying the fact he was never going to win.

There's also the issue of the enclave doesn't view what it does as bad, they were raised on the ideal of being genetically pure and the last hope for humanity. To them everything they do is good.

Not when a group is incredibly insular with no interactions with outside elements, that's why the bos's schisms are always about allowing wastelanders in, because the BoS had such a long relationship with the wasteland that the NCR even named a state after their founder

But yea, they could have done something special with Autumn but he was wasted potential

It's the way you worded the question that had it removed I believe, I think I saw a few things that were tempting the rules. I think my answer to your question though is that from my point of view, it wouldn't be very easy for them to develop a bunch of remakes at the same time as being in-between so many active projects if they weren't always seeking ways to also provide the monetary gain to make them possible. For the launch of Fallout 4 on Switch 2, it's a good idea because it's another platform and they likely looked into the sales of Skyrim on Switch to decide if it was worth the time investment, along with Indiana and Oblivion. On New Vegas, it would be more difficult because the original wasn't made by BGS and doing a remake or a sequel might require a much bigger investment because of that.

My honest thoughts on where the most likely next Fallout game will be: but first, to discount a couple I think they aren't going to do.
Canada, non American locations, even annexed, have been largely told they aren't going to go there.
Las Vegas, SoCal, or anywhere in Appalachia, they have repeated they won't revisit anywhere.

Where they might go:
San Francisco - consistently mentioned in the last major installment, Fallout 4, also if the brotherhood story and the NCR story were to continue into the games. That'd be the place to do it as the recent fallout games have had a propensity of high population areas.
Texas - consistently mentioned throughout Fallout 76, with their newest studio being stationed there.
New York - Most likely location if they continued doing the megapolis of the East Coast.
Colorado - Similar to San Francisco, but this would be likely to be a reloring of Fallout Tactics into something a little more lorefriendly for Bethesda.

I have an opinion I'd like to share. Todd Howard should step down from fallout and Tim Cain should be brought on as lead developer. The "it just works" mindset is flawed especially when 4 and 76 don't. Not to mention the production choices for the TV show. Pretty sure Novac didn't have a pool and the Dino delight gift shop was faced the other way.

I must say, while I tend to appreciate most opinions, this one is a bit strange. Aside from the issues on PS with dlc, I don't really see what doesn't work with FO4, and from my own experience 76 is rather good now and has improved significantly since launch. The show's criticism honestly feels a bit pedantic because it's slightly minor details compared to the fact that Todd most likely ensured the lore stayed close enough to the shared vision to be canon. It feels like you're simply suggesting Tim Cain take over because of a bias for NV, based on prior comments.

Aside from the last update, we know there's a critical issue on PS where dlc's are not functioning despite being owned. They would most likely want to fix this issue first and then (hopefully) ship the 100gb increase for both consoles and some functionality fixes for the creations menu in the same update, rather than over varied updates or launching the 100gb update on Xbox before fixing the PS side, as that would fuel the flames for favoritism claims.

I wish there was like a mainline game that took place in Antarctica with like an entire underground base that has slowly been built for hundreds of years and was successfully completed before the bombs dropped. What they're up to there now? Will just have to find out. But the base would be large enough to be the size of an entire state, complete with it's own various artificial biomes in different sections and on different elevator levels/depths. Plus, the surrounding surface world on the continent of Antarctica itself and it's icy waters.

I would imagine they have a different group of people working on the Switch 2 port, while the "main" group work to fix the PS issues. Realistically, it's brilliant timing for them to launch it on Switch because of the show ending so they probably want to take their best shots while they can, plus it's always nice to have some extra profits coming in to help on the upcoming projects. Sure I agree it doesn't look great since there's a major issue like this looming, but always better to take opportunities as they come. Plus, I'd imagine it's been in the works for a while, maybe even before the update even happened.

So like just over time from playing water could erode rivers..

Maybe a rad storm floods an area and creates a irradiated swamp and attracts radiated ghouls and creatures and you have to build dams to purify it..

Rain could turn dirt paths into mud, restricting movement, while hot, dry days could accelerate the spread of fire..

Radiation could spread dynamically throughout the map allowing for radioactive spread that you would need to keep under control..

And you could have real-time interaction

It's what we would call Cellular Automata similar to Conway's Game of Life.. You build a grid made of cells..

The war between factions could be simulated across a macro-grid.. A territory cell occupied by the BoS might spread that influence to neighboring cells, changing the NPC spawns and quest availability in that area.. Diseas outbreaks in settlments could be moodeled to spread from NPC to NPC (or cell to cell) based on proximity, creating quests to quarantine areas..

With Cellular Automata, the game would operate as a grid of cells, each cell changes state (irradiated, clean, built-up, dead, alive) based on simple rules regarding the state of its neighboring cells..

So imagine.. Rather than individual settlement management, the growth of one settlement could affect its neighbors. A prosperous "industrial" cell might provide resources to neighboring "residential" cells, causing them to upgrade automatically..

As a longtime fallout fan, i'd love to see fallout 5 bring back permanent world consequences & detailed narrated ending slides like fallout 1,2 and new vegas. Those endings made your choices feel more historic & meaningful. Strong consequences + a full narration of what the hero has accomplished would give the story a real weight again. Many classic fans truly miss that.

That's not entirely a right aspect of 1, 2 and new Vegas, a lot of choices don't have an immediate noticable impact on the world and a lot of what makes the endings stick is the canonizing of them in future games

Like NCR becoming more expansionist or the brotherhood setting up outposts to protect people and eventually becoming an R&D house to reintroduce technology to the wasteland

Neither are portrayed in the games they happened in but the games that came after

A lot of fallout 1s consequences like the followers being unable to be saved was due to bugs (which is funny when the endings like the followers surviving or the hub becoming the economic power of new California are impossible to get in 1 but the canon endings)

15 crashes in about 2 hours of playtime, can randomly occur, or when i enter cells and loot bodies

i have the 4 gb patcher, nvse, nv crash fixer, nv tick fixer, and nv anti-stutter mods (everything except 4gb installed usign vortex mod manager)

what do you guys think i can do?

I’m a certified Enclave hater but a game from the perspective of an unimportant low level Enclave grunt would be interesting. Like a maintenance worker or something.

Do you buy into their ideology and join one of their death squads to climb the ranks to become one of their top brass. Or try to reform it from within through an internal revolution, both being the target of and issuing political assassinations? Or maybe you see the Enclave for what it is and burn it all to the ground.

This might be controversial, but I hope they leave the settlement building of 4 behind in 5. Like, yes, have some designated building areas, maybe, but I think they should focus on adding to the existing settlements, rather than building new ones.

I’d really like to see the ability to build anywhere like in 76 with an increased build limit and improved settler management mechanic from 4.

Instead of having a few pre-selected ones, let us turn any location into a potential settlement

That feels hard to implement, and just... not a very good idea, unfortunately. I can see a lot of issues with that

I think focusing on existing settlements, maybe make a focus on investing in shops and caravans, instead, maybe sending expeditions to areas outside the map to expand inventory or something

The resource management and jankiness of settlement building in 4 is my main complaint. It shouldn't have been as big of a focus as it was, especially with the amount of "hey, go help this settlement" quests there were

4’s settlement system was really basic and under developed

But a lot of people still spent a lot of time playing with it

“Rebuilding the wasteland” appeals to a lot of people apparently

Although, focusing a a select few existing settlements opens the door to more specialized NPCs and stories

Give me settlers with unique personalities, quests, and rewards like you mentioned

What I'd love is more fortifications and defenses for settlements, and the ability to set up patrols between outposts and settlements, which would let you explore more freely in areas you've done the work to establish

Each robot was based off same model but had different weapons and paint jobs for different route

Could also have bigger raid attempts on settlements, as you built them up, too

Clear out raiders? Some survivors went and gathered a bigger group. Super mutants? Now they have a behemoth you made angry, knocking at the door.

IIRC it's only the way the system is set up, so they could do something similar, just have the groups be led by raiders or mutants, that were part of previous groups you took out

Is it just me or does old art direction from Adam Adamowicz go hard af... like he was lowkey cooking in FO3's art direction, Along with the Green/Brown filters and polluted atmospheres and Art Deco/Industrial architecture it all felt so unique.
Honestly I would love to see more of that in future Fallout games.
I might just be nostalgic but the atmosphere and art direction of older Fallout games along with 3 and New Vegas where fire.
I'm not really a fan of the more clean and colorful retro-futurist design of Fallout 4's architecture and art direction along with how bright and colorful it is but that's just me idk.
The rusty and moody atmosphere of the wasteland in older games really encapsulated the dreariness of post apocalyptic life while also maintaining its zany sci-fi aesthetics.
It also helped with making clean vibrant and or lush pre-war things and color shifts feel way more exotic and important.
