Base building is completely optional and the best feature for a lot of people. Why would you want it gone from the series?

Its literally making custom safehouses to survive the wasteland or rebuilding civilization with your own custom towns

I lowkey hate radiant quests but it’s more so how bethesda implements them. I dont like npcs having infinite quests and being unable to tell if its genuine story content or just a generic meaningless quest.

My ideal Fallout game would be satisfying shooting mechanics, atmospheric setpieces, excellent stories & dialogue choices; an extremely diverse sets of responses; a lot of reactions between you and factions (and to each other); and ultimately pretty much it being a post-post-apocalyptic bunch of stories where it's two step forwards and a couple of step backwards

They could easily implement bounty hunting in a meaningful way by having bounty posters that lead you to near by pre existing raider leaders and criminals, and have npcs talk about them before you hunt them and after you’ve caught or killed them, and building up your reputation as a bounty hunter should get you access to a whole questline.

I dont want infinite bounties that don’t have names, don’t say anything, and might as well not exist to the world

Yes literally this! I want them to make it more advanced so you can just build anywhere and scrap everything that’s an object. I didn’t even do it my first play through and I love it now it’s all I really do when I want to relax from grinding quests. It’s actually that these games haven’t dramatically improved from previous installments is the issue

they’ve seemed to somehow backslide in quality

Fallout 4 and Fallout 76 aren’t dumpster fires, the issue is far more subtle

That seems to be why people have been trying to temper their hype for TES6. People don’t want to get overhyped for a game when they have the feeling it may not be an improvement, hell may even be worse.

I don’t hate Fallout 4’s story, I just don’t care enough about it for me to like it. Which was kind of Emil’s goal so I guess he succeeded and is an amazing writer.

For me, it'd be Warhorse.

My issue with that is that Warhorse would put too much emphasis on realism (aka survival), and while that’s some folks bread and butter, it isn’t for most and would likely push people away. I really can’t think of a other studio aside CDPR that I’d want to do a Fallout game. I don’t even trust Obsidian anymore to be honest.

I’d honestly prefer Bethesda to refocus and recenter to what made them such a great studio to begin with. I love FO4 and 76, but the writing does need some assistance.

Well its not the fo4/f76 system (its the OG Beta) but you really should look into Real Time Settler. I run it in fo3 and it allows you to build yourself a cozy settlement (and did back in the day).
And if you read the comments its the settlement system fo4/f76 built off of from this mod (its talked about in the comments by the author and others).
so Real Time Settler is the fo3/nv mod that forged fo4/f76's settlement system. (or so the comments and history goes and I cant confirm if this is 100% accurate or not but is the common version of the story and timeline).

no, BGS still had the rights. Todd explained in one of the Fallout 25th Anniversary vids that Fallout New Vegas originally started out as an expansion for Fallout 3. Todd felt that it should be it's own standalone game, and he felt that Obsidian was the right choice.

hmm. I guess.. I played NV on 360 on release, played thru twice. I didn't even really know about mods at that time, and i was over the moon with the game. I played thru F03 on pc no mods just fine, actually really enjoyed it vanilla. Games are good without mods, you don't need mods to enjoy a game especially one like fallout imo. There will always be games to mod, but that's not BGS specific problem, modding has always been more friendly on PC and I doubt that will change much.

I also played through fallout 4 twice without mods. The games sold really well on consoles, without mods.. i didn't realize Bethesda confirmed they're going to remake the game. if it's a remaster no doubt people are going to mod it and wonder why their old mods don't work anymore. I concede, as it's a bad argument anyways. I didn't play oblivion, original nor remaster and i don't really plan on doing so. Nah Enclave aren't the coolest, they're shown that they couldn't fight a real war due to not knowing how to exist in the post-apoc wasteland and due to living in a bunker for most of their life they would be more at risk of dying out. They're horribly managed and ill-fitted, much like the fascist state they were based on.

They also wouldn't know how to effectively farm the wasteland as opposed to groups like the NCR because well again, they have no experience working with farmland, just reading how to farm isn't the same as actually knowing how to.

76 struck a good balance. All PA pieces are level locked meaning even if you find one early you can't wear it

Eh, it didn't take long to get power armor in 3, new Vegas is a different story if you don't do a b-line to the BoS bunker. 4's overcorrect wasn't the start because the power armor you get is not a full suit and it's incredibly weak with several parts needing repair, it was a dumb "cinematic" start sure which they need to stop doing. The overcorrect was making suits way too common in the wasteland and the fact it was level based meant you eventually started seeing XO-1s all over the place, they also shouldn't have been respawning

I really don't agree with the idea bounty hunter and ghoulification are what's needed to make fallout 4 feel "complete" because neither are traditionally fallout nor really add anything groundbreaking and necessary to fallout 4's world

There's a difference between someone wanting something and something needing to be in the game to be "complete"

For instance the only game to allow a ghoul character in the setting is 76, bounty hunting is rarely shown to be a major part of the fallout setting either and I'm pretty sure Diamond City does actually have wanted posters for like three misc bounty hunting quests since that's the only place with any kind of organized law enforcement with the rest of the Commonwealth being a lawless wasteland unless you rebuild the minutemen to the point they patrol around the Commonwealth

At a certain point if they kept adding everything people consider makes a complete game it'd be a feature creep bloated nightmare because there's a wide scale of what people think needs to be in the game

Hey guys, quick kinda not question for anyone on pc! So I just got my first gaming pc via a coworker and wanted to know if it’s decent to play Bethesda games and what other games it could handle potentially!?

GraphicCard NVIDIA GeForce RTC 4060 Ti

Also just gotta state I’m not pc smart at all, this is the first computer I’ve ever owned since a family computer in early 2000s and I don’t regularly use them for any reason. That being said what’s your guys thoughts on Vortex for managing mods for a first time pc owner/mod user!? And yes I’ve looked up a ton of modding vids already but been watching one that gopher posted for NV 2026 just this week and seems kinda easy to follow! And last question, what version should I buy of fallout 4 on steam considering I already own it in console!? Sorry for such a long post btw!..

Yea that's a pretty good PC

Especially the GPU, that's going to last you a good while if you regularly dust it out and maintain it

Only thing I'd upgrade right now is the storage because a 1TB is alright but will get filled up fast

@real pelican I know of none but I know people usually recommend viva new vegas for more recent mods and a lot of it is at least intended to work for ttw so might maybe work for 3 too

tbh a lot of more recent modding for 3 and NV is way more involved with NVSE than I remember ("back in my day" in my worst granny voice)

which admittedly is probably good since it lets them do stuff that wouldn't be a thing in gamebryo of the time

Just feels like “Tales from The Wasteland” could be an entire series of novels and comics.

“Memoirs of a Vault Dweller” a compilation of short stories from various vaults chronicling the progress from 2077 to “present-day” in 2290’s and all the whacky nonsense that happens. Like what was it Vault 3 I think it was with that Dweller that ended up going insane and had a hand puppet.

Have you perhaps considered that maybe, it was unintentional that PS players are in this situation, that they're trying to work with whoever is required to fix the problem in due time since only PS is affected this badly, and that assuming they don't want their PS players is a bit silly considering they're actively trying to work on the fix. Sadly nobody cares about consumer rights because many people play with a PC and the U.S. doesn't have gov consumer rights like some countries in Latam

And being realistic. Many players play Fallout 4 or 76 with PC. That is why the studio and cenimax don't hurry up. But here the authorities took like 20 minutes to debunk Sony support answers

At this rate I gave up with the studio, cenimax and mods here. Days and weeks passes like nothing

I get feeling neglected, but the problem is they've given as much of a response as they can. People want more than just "we're working on it" but yet even if they got that, they won't be happy until its out. People will cry "consumer rights" or "this is scamming" but it's an unintended problem which they're doing their best to rectify, which may or may not be a complicated situation. Pancho here is bringing up Zenimax when they don't even have a horse in this race. in theory there's a way to get Hanlon his best ending too but it's convoluted as you need to delay finishing return to sender until way later than most people will pick it up
