If it's for your own personal use you should use whatever music appeals to you. It's your game, your rules. Personally I think songs from the 30s to the 50s suit the game world best (I absolutely cringe when I hear "Take Me Home Country Roads" in a Fallout setting). But if a song makes sense to you, use it.

I'm not the biggest fan of the green filter but it's a big part of the game's charm so I'd say the best way to handle it is to reduce it but not completely get rid of it.

Like keep it in areas that are heavily destroyed with a lot of nuke craters around like the DC mall.
But remove it from areas away from the main city where there's no craters nearby

I have an idea for a mod but am not fully sure how much making a mod full of licensed songs is gonna set me back. I want a nice Louisiana based radio station. Perhaps one to rival the Blue bayou radio mod on Nexus.

Some songs come to mind like the gumbo song, chickens on the run and it ain't gonna rain no more all from Moe D and Moe D Too. Because those are some nice sounding ones that is sure to bring up spirits in the harsh Boston area.

Not entirely sure how much it's gonna set me back though to license those songs as I know nothing about synchronization and master rights for songs And I hope it ain't gonna be like crazy out the wazoo expensive as this will be a simple radio mod made to be free for anyone to enjoy, jam and listen to.

That's standard Bethesda Video game design, Jethro. It's not just BoS. Imagine a coding system not smart enough to teach the NPCs not to step in front of a sniper with his eye on the scope. I've shot my NPCs in the back an embarrassing number of times. And it'll take however long it takes, Mily. It's Bethesda.

Since they are prepping to launch Burning Sands, I would guess at least a couple more hours

yes and no. I don't remember having that problem with Mass Effect. But Starfield, Fallout, and Elder Scrolls... The NPCs won't stay the hell out of my way. I agree NPC ai is a joke across the board, but BGS' NPCs seem to be especially stupid, when it comes to getting in the PCs way in combat

which is why once I finish their loyalty quests, most NPCs get stuffed in a settlement and forgotten about

I give developers a bit of a pass on this. Iin fast-paced real-time action it's nearly impossible for coding to predict what a player is going to do.

True. Where I don't give them the pass, is when the enemies literally dodge bullets. If I'm point blank range, and fire, and the enemy jumps sideways, causing me to miss, I call BS on the game engine

Dodging an arrow (elder scrolls) is one thing. That's maybe 300 fps. Dodging a bullet that's doing 3000 fps is a whole different story.

The Oblivion release is not what surprised Bethesda fans the most. We were foreseeing a possible re-release. What surprised us the most is how Oblivion got visual upgrades and some change of gameplay and changes to NPCs in general. That's what surprised us about Oblivion Remaster. We were hoping for an announcement or at least acknowledgement that people want Fallout NV remaster or Fallout 3 remaster or both. But we were overhyped enough to get our hopes up.

We're not trying to be greedy or not trying to ask for so much; not like those entitled spoiled people. We just want to hear something new.

They re-re-re-re-released Skyrim (base, Legendary, Special, Anniversary, Switch and VR/next-gen) while also launching Fo76 and Starfield in a badly optimized state. While I am not part of that group that "dogpile and treats them the same way either way", it leaves a precedent as for how they handle their IPs and products with the player base (their customers) . They could've brought Obsidian for the FNV remaster and that get a full-on 180 on the scope of things, but decided to run a cheap shot with re-releasing Fallout when it's already on next-gen, all while launching FNV "collector's edition" with knock-off TEMU Victor and price it for $155+/$270 CAD for "their loyal fans".

So the criticism, while harsh, is much warranted because they stoked the flames for it.

I already said this earlier today, Bethesda set up this hype and disappointed themselves! They didn't list anything for a remaster yes but the hype with all the New Vegas stuff leading up to this AND the unexpected clip of the guys who worked on New Vegas during the Livestream talking about the 15th anniversary was a crude setup by Bethesda to insult everyone. First off. Distiny 2 was backing off of the success of destiny 1. Destiny 2 had a successful launch compared to FO76 which is their first propper online fallout game next to Fallout Shelter Online which isn't even available in the states.

It's possible, but it's not very useful because the base damage is pretty low. For a weapon with low base damage and high fire rate like the Gatling laser you want something like Wounding.

Bad does not describe how terrible the game was on launch. The only AAA game worse than FO76 (IMHO) would be Cyberpunk 2077. For the older folks (Pentium 4 or older) the winner for absolutely worst game from a AAA studio is Rouge Warrior from Bethesda (no surprise there) that was so bad I actually recommend game reviewers finding a copy just so you can baseline reviews of other terrible games. Now FO76 is leaps ahead of RW, and has improved over the years substantially, it is still terrible.

The corporate (read T.H. idea) concept of an MMOP as a revenue center doomed the game from the start. Terrible management of production, rejection of design team ideas, and other development and production issues essentially doomed the game. Unfortunately the history of prior modern era FO games persisted in leading players and fans into believing Bethesda had things under control and were not aware of many of the ongoing problems.

Once the BETA was released to the very oversized 'BETA testing audience' it quickly became clear that Bethesda had no feedback system structured to accept the responses from the 'BETA Test group'. I was a BETA tester on FO76 and for the first several days I could not even login to the BETA Test portal. I did eventually manage to access to portal but was met with continued difficulties in trying to enter problem information, loading a debug log was impossible, and even the occasional developer questionnaire was impossible to complete due to issues on the Bethesda servers.

While I performed due diligence, getting the information to Bethesda was nearly impossible. I eventually emailed a member of the project several times with my logs and testing commentary. I did receive responses, but got the feeling that even he was just going through the motions for the BETA test and had become disillusioned with the project. This was hardly my first BETA test, having performed several prior BETA and more than a dozen ALPHA tests on other projects in both the gaming world and production system software.

For those I spoke with during the BETA, most with prior testing experience agreed that it was more of an ALPHA release and calling it a BETA was being very generous. As we all know, the production release was little better than the BETA, with many of the issues still not resolved. I do think they were able to clean up the mesh quite well, for the most part, and very few of the 'world fall' holes and landscape mesh traps were not repaired. There were still a few places that a player could fall though the mesh the last time I played, and a couple mesh traps that players can get caught in. Although I have not played in several months, those who I talk to and are active say it's better, but still very much a B-grade FPS with a few other live players around to interact with as you grind through repetitive search/fetch tasks.

The ideas are few but they have some depth and definitely some reading to be had but decent ideas though, I hope.

I also have to post out of order. Though it won't be overly crazy. You'll see.

I have ideas for the next fallout game. Some of these ideas are already starting to sprout but I'll throw it out there anyways. 1. Players can become super mutants or ghouls. If a player invests or comes into contact with FEV for super mutant transformation or if they have the misfortune of acquiring too much radiation there is a 1 in 3 chance to become a ghoul, otherwise player instantly dies as would be normal but if they transform into a ghoul it changes the game quite a bit same for super mutants. For both it will turn many factions away from them but may also open some unique factions up too. Also, there is a chance to reverse being a super mutant but that way will not be quick easy or convenient, if you want that you'll have to earn it. If you're a super mutant you can ally yourself with a large settlement of other super mutants and maybe you could somehow gain alliance with them, and it may persist even if you find a way to become human again. You'll need to prove yourself beyond all doubt for this to work. Not just at that time but later on as well. As for the ghoul path, it is irreversible but you may discover a secret cluster of powerful ghouls with unique insights, information, and learn able and unique moves and attacks and can become instantly liked by the child of atoms and open up a completely different main story line unique to this transformation. You'll see this no other way and this particular option may open some particularly disturbing revelations you will know no other way. There is also a chance that with both forms your intelligence and other stats may degrade with time. The time in which this happens is random and happens in slow increments. Most of the time it won't be quick but it shouldn't be ruled out that it could be. After a certain point these losses become permanent. You can do things to stave off these effects though for a while and significantly slow the process. Even completely halt things at times.

2. More factions to be a part of, simply be able to be apart of more factions both large and small. Being able to potentially partner with a whole bunch of factions as long as they can also align with the main faction or factions you choose to align yourself with. Yes you can have a dark alliance too, enclave, institute, and raider super alliance would be cool to see and at some point this is tried or attempted. Maybe once a deal can be brokered with enclave and institute both can come together with a plan to make the raiders serve them.....
3. Revisit creating your own faction like in fallout New Vegas. This needs minimal explanation this right here. Now I'm well aware this won't be possible in every game nor should it be but you got to do this again at some point, it's too good not to. My personal opinion. Maybe you do this from the ground up slowly next time the idea is implemented. Once you form enough friendships with potential members you can create a settlement and your group becomes a growing player in the world of the major factions. As you reach milestones of influence, and size other factions will notice, probe and mettle with yours, in both positive and negative ways depending on how they view your actions and how they are impacted by them. It's not just about you, it's also about your group now too. You directly influence if they survive or not.

What Fallout 5 really needs is the option to start off with any of the factions: you could of course play as a Vault Dweller if you want, but you also have the option to start out as a member of the Brotherhood of Steel, or a Raider, or any other faction that might exist in the game. And of course you could also choose to play as a Ghoul. Wherever you choose to start will greatly affect the story as well as how other groups and settlements treat you. It also gives the player a huge reason to replay the game.
