Haven't played modded Fallout 4 in about a year anyone got any mod recommendations for PS4? I've got a mod list going but I'm curious to know if anyone has any recommendations i may not have heard of yet

i never used it
because turns out, with that one mod that lets you make any type of gun, it also lets you do different ammo types for whatever gun you make
which includes cannon balls
so by putting cannon balls in a rifle, shotgun, or pistol, any of those, i can basically make my own cap and ball weapons
they also fall after a bit, so i can fire a gun with cannon ball ammo upwards and rain down metal on my enemies
genuinely, kinda more fun than missiles or mini nukes
oh also, the liberty prime laser attack thing is also an ammo type i can put on guns, so i made a kickass bfg-like weapon with a tesla cannon with the charging barrel
and it hits multiple targets at once

does anyone else know that the whole thing with sony not allowing external assets has been sorta lifted
maybe it was just for certain games like skyrim, but i dunno about fallout 4
is there a mod that reduces the wetness effect? inside buildings that is
those chances are low unless some modder actually wants to make it for their own save aswell, otherwise ur best bet would be to get a scrappy laptop and learn modding

Yea legendary effects. Its such a crapshoot. There's a mod that makes it a removable augment which makes it more palpable
it was cooler to have unique weapons in new vegas
total randomizer mechanic is lazy
or at least make the unique weapons have some sort of unique appearance
cuz they literally just have weapons with a specific name and with a specific augment

theres several places at several settlements that just shouldnt of been done, or have been made scrappable
a wooden plank in a house in Sanct, a random orange shipping container in Nordhagen beach, the collasped ceiling piece, sunken boat, shelves, and hanging light in Egret tours marina, a piece of wall in croup Manor, just to name a few

Cuz its minecraft+Sims injected in a fallout game. Its legit 3 games in 1 idk what they were thinking cuz the main story suffered hard for it. They were using it as a 76 alpha tbh and passing it off as a full game

in theory yes i believe those settings can be edited in the creation kit hours to respawn and reset cells

When looking at your pipboy, I think you hit "select" button on controller
Please be aware when you are using place everywhere, there are various toggles that turn on and off various snapping and clipping features. F1,f2 and f3. If you hit any of those buttons and a message is not displayed, then the installation was not done right.
But, yes vault pieces are a pain in the @ss by default š im only FINALLY getting use to them. It took me about 6 building sessions to get an understanding of it.
I find that i spend the most time in atrium pieces. If you can get an atrium room completed, then the "rooms" sections is kinda like the last steps.

i havent looked into it too much but it might be what youre looking for, theres definitely screenshots with firefighters turnout gear in it

it is kind of a big mod if you JUST want the turnout gear, but if you really want it that badly thats the only thing ive found so far
you might also have better luck finding someone to make a standalone version of just the outfits, instead of finding someone who will make the outfits from scratch

before the update to the mod that expanded it
and even when i found walkthroughs that do go over the mod with the update, one of them was really just a first playthrough type thing, so they didnt play through the whole mod
really the only problem i had with the mod was something on sony's part, where their restriction didnt allow for custom quests

Google "the midnight ride". That guide is usually everyone's starting point. And you'll want a mod handler if on pc. I recommend mo2. Lookup gamerpoet for a easy installation guide for that.

You donāt want them to break if you like performance. A pre combine is like a collection of meshes rendered as one big one to boost performance. Scrap everything breaks pre combine in order to allow you to scrap patches of trash and whatnot
i still wish that Bethesda didnt do what they did with the settlement system and gave us the ability to scrap way more than they did
i could list several things that i would instantly tag for scrapping if a bethesda dev asked me how i would improve the settlement system
i wish i could scrap the ground so there's no ground in the settlements to stand on

why's it even there in the first place
anyway, i found out that someone had recently put out a doom super shotgun mod
right after i asked if someone else could make a doom super shotgun mod
so now we have two super shotgun mods, both based on doom 2
i guess the best thing to do would be to compare them both
okay then, so, compared to how accurate it is to doom 2, uh
the barrel length isn't all too accurate, the doom 2 ssg sprite has more of a sawed off barrel
the damage i feel is a bit too high, even without full rifleman, it's still higher than the super shotgun's base damage in doom 2
and the reload speed is fine, but i feel like its only that fast because i have the quick hands perk
making it 1 shot until reload is accurate
though, kinda strange to put sprinters on it but i can kinda see what they were trying to do

Funny but true story - I bought a PS because I could not afford a PC that would run the same games properly.
A PS is not the best in many ways, but it is good value for money.
Within the Sony rules you can recombine existing models and materials but you cannot so much as make a new mesh (afaik). So options are (very) limited.

so you can't just take models from the game and turn them into weapons
You are talking material swaps, maybe mixing up attachments, but itās very likely that you wonāt be able to fit the attachments together snugly, because you canāt make a new mesh.
IIRC you can rescale existing meshes but not make new ones.
(Thatās how Busty works on PS afaik)
You might be able to do that if the weapon has no mod attachment points, or none you want to be visible.
So for example you could maybe make a hammer into a melee weapon, but your problem there would be a lack of melee animations.
But I think they did have tools as melee weapons in the PS version of Frost, back when it was still available.

Which of course might mean it wasnāt possible.
Like maybe you could clone a tire iron WEAP and ANIM onto the hammer mesh and the switchblade WEAP and ANIM onto the screwdriver mesh.
I might give it a try.
Maybe use the Supersledge to make a shovel. Pipe wrench for regular wrench (rescaled smaller). Etc etc

and then make a custom grip, frame, barrel, and sight to make the pistol have the same type of design as the mysterious magnum

all that can be done on playstation is swap around the guns soundsets, so like a .44 uses the .44 soundset and i swap that with any ingame soundset

on xbox or pc i can upload new soundsets, for playstation best we can do is swap the soundset with any vanilla soundset(or DLC)

Neither is. Alternatively, all 10 of my weapons are available with Vault Crafting once you reach level 50. Like all of the uniques in the parent mod. So you aren't locked out of them if you can't fine one.

vault crafting, or "vaulted crafting", whatever nickname we use it as, is a crafting system provided by the delirium station, as a failsafe in case you cant find a unique weapon, or something glitched and it became inaccessible for clipping reasons.
the requirements of course, are you need to be level 50+ to even see the category appear in the bench
oh, is it really just part of the base mod you need for other delirium mods to work
i hope that helps to clarify for any confusion going forward with that. never hurts to double check though, pretty sure that capy has followed my own system to make sure things flow more or less coherently for her users

more than likely. fortunately, you dont need perks to build one, and it only costs a few pieces of steel. alternatively, you can find them pre-placed in larger settlements such as diamond city, as well as in significant locations in the dlc's such as far harbor, the nucleus, and parts of nuka world.
you can get those with the scrounger perk, and just loot EVERYTHING, as well as by buying them (randomly rolled for types) at various merchant npcs, and for the legendary-typed ones, by detaching and recycling legendary mod boxes
important tidbit for the future, but not this very second. i'm rebuilding that system from the ground up for a pending update, and will be advising capy on how to update her addons that depend on those features.
just something to keep in the back of your mind. it'll be a bit easier to interact with once that update is ready š

cut the map into 4 huge quarters (or quadrants). isolate to just the top left quandrant of the map. things existing only in that block.
look for any lakes (even ponds, if that helps) around that chunk, and see if you can ferret out anything that resembles a retirement home.

pre-war house gives you i think 1 new weapon, a double barrel shotgun with silver metals and mahogany furniture, as well as a thing for making a marble grip for revolvers
and there aint n micrsoft pulling the strings bethesda wanted Sony to have the same modding as Xbox does but Sony refused
and the path of a psycho gives a laser gun with a nice gold and white skin, and a double barrel shotgun that looks actually worn down
so unless that's like, some big brain iq stuff dogofwar is doing to make those guns, then i dunno why it hasnt been done more

pineneedle rest i think includes a chrome shotgun, which has the metals replaced with chrome, and maple manor had a .44 pistol with a white grip and black metals

In practice yes because the only way to upload it for a console to use is via Bethesdaās client, which enforces Sonyās rules. To get past that would require⦠shenanigans. So I can make whatever I like on my own PC, but I canāt get it to my own PS.

No Sony could care less about whether it breaks your game. ESP mods will do that just fine. They just do not want anyone putting pr0n on their platform that breaks social rules in say, Saudi, or worse, legal rules in Japan. Sony has a core mission of being āsafe for familiesā or whatever and they are not going to compromise on that for the sake of modders, anywhere in the world. Thatās the brand they are protecting. Sony = family-safe.

The grey area is scripting. I donāt really see a strong argument for banning scripting but apparently Sony does. Early days Bethesda (I understand) allowed it, in good faith, as they also didnāt see why that should be a problem, but Sony cracked down on it. I still donāt really understand why. The best explanation I have heard was that it would be too hard for them to analyse if someone was doing something devious via scripting.

This is a Creation. Thatās like FO4 Creation Club. External assets and scripting are allowed in those. But they are curated by Bethesda.
In FO4 terms thatās a hundred mods or so out of a hundred thousand. You have to go through a content approval process and basically you have to be asked by Bethesda to make a mod (āCreationā) for them.

Another possibility is cut content. Say there were muskets in the dev phase of Skyrim but never went live. If those assets are still in the game, a modder can unlock them, and boom, ānewā assets.
Example would be the Undersea Vault mod, which has masses of ānewā assets on PS4. But they are not really new. They are just buried, unexposed.

Hmm, I haven't heard of that issue, and in fact I've used the mod to get around issues with other mods that mess up the Nuka World entrance border area.
Is the issue only occurring when you have the mod enabled, or even without it enabled?
Also, this issue is often caused by Scrap That Commonwealth, if I recall correctly. Try temporarily disabling that if you're using it.

so before i got scrap that commonwealth, same with scrap all the things
OK. So does temporarily disabling No Borders fix the issue? And/or does temporarily disabling Scrap That Commonwealth fix the issue? Based on either/both of those, load order may be something to look at, or you may have to choose which mod(s) to disable permanently.
I'm not sure if Scrap All the Things is known to cause the issue as well, but if tinkering with the other two mods doesn't do the trick, it might be worth temporarily disabling as a test as well.
A quick Google search shows me result after result of people either disabling Scrap That Commonwealth or using my No Borders mod to fix it, lol.
Make sure No Borders is below Scrap That Commonwealth, at the very least. But I recall I ended up disabling that mod, probably because it caused other issues like framerate drops downtown, etc. A cool concept, but it wasn't worth the issues to me in the end.
Hmm, apparently Green in the Commonwealth sometimes causes the issue, so check if you have that enabled as well and consider temporarily disabling it.

Ah, so have you tested going there without the mod enabled? If not, try that.
Frankly, I'd be surprised if the mod is causing the issue, but also with No Borders at the bottom of your load order, you should be able to cross the Nuka World entrance border regardless of what's above it...

If nothing else, I'd make a save right outside the border where you can't cross, then go into Load Order and disable all mods temporarily. If you're not sure how to do that, google it. Then, if that fixes it, re-enable half your mods, test again, and so on until you find the culprit(s).

By the way, another angle on No Borders: if you use one of my Vertibird mods (eg Free Vertibird Jump) you can fly out of bounds. It turns out that bounds checks only apply to the player character and not to a vehicle they are riding in. š
Just donāt dismount the Vertibird out of bounds, otherwise the only way back is Fast Travel, so if you are in Survival mode thatās game over right there.

Use creation Kit to make the object mod and construable object. Then use Gimp with the DDS addon to edit the texture. A material editor file will be needed too, the tool for that in in your in your Steam\steamapps\common\Fallout 4\Tools folder.

if you can get ahold of a PC and do it yourself, i think there might be a space where you can upload mods to where you can see it when you go on your Xbox, but its not uploaded for everyone else (idk how the community feels about that tho)
but that space is only tied to your Bethesda account, so you would need to either do it yourself, or break Bethesda TOS to do it

My theory with the crash is that the header clamp issue happened with the plugin (unless the user is using gamepass or EGS, then there's complications)

so spent about 2 days, reloading this game and setting up a few mods, tried to play and game crash in start of game before vault 111, removed a few mods, played again, still crash. NEW install, with just F4SE, game still crashes as start of game before Vault 111, NEW install, ZERO mods, game still crashes before getting to Vault 111...
Are you sure it was a 100% uninstall and reinstall? Even deleting appdata folder? Many people miss that one.

For the most part, things added to the chem lab or workshop mode will probably work. Things placed in locations most likely will not work.

only ones on nexus is one that requires Armorsmith extended, one that only hides the player helmet, and one that while it does do it for NPCs and doesnt require any additional mods, it leaves these lines that doesnt seem to go away when i move it around in my load order

There is a mod called Atomic Age or something like that, that fills in the gaps in and around the Conmonwealth with extra content. But itās not a story like Far Harbor or Nuka World

yeah xbox has you covered i use a lot of weapons mods made by Micalov myself, pretty small sizewise most are like a few MB each
anyone else having an issue with mod configuration menu not working with vortex? everything I find online says to run "f4se_loader.exe" which I have no idea where that is in my files but I also assume that hitting this also works, but it doesnt?

i always tell people that you dont need a 1k/2k giga computer to play games and whatnot, you just need a PC to get you into the world of PCs, a $600/$700 PC that you can upgrade over time is better than a $600 (not including taxes) Xbox that you cant upgrade, and with used parts you can cut that price down even further as long as youre careful and know what youre looking for
put whatever you can save towards a PC, trust me
you can find monitors that will work fine at thift stores, wont have more than 60Hz and wont be 4k most likely, but it'll work until you can find a better monitor, or you can use your TV as one
mice and keyboards can be found at thrift stores too, and also work fine
you can also find stuff on the side of the road meant for the trash sometimes as well, not often, but sometimes
skip RGB as well, it'll cut down on $10-$20 or more on PC parts

There is a series of mods for PS called VATS Immersion project or similar and one us called Plonk VATS. This gives you as much or as little VATS as you want.

You need to claim only one temporary settlement to complete the main quest and it never needs to have any settlers or anything else built there.

I followed midnight ride guide. Google it if you don't know. Through that, I believe I had to change my .ini to 59.99 or something. I also made sure my monitor refresh rate was not in power saving mode and also set at 60hz. If you go higher than 60fps, you need to do additional .ini adjustments I think. I'm happy with 60.
The only other catch for me personally was since I use mo2, I had to add an argument in the executables tab -forcesteamloader. Otherwise, it won't work. Nor will other mods work like place everywhere.

Only thing you can't really uploaded to the in game mod is NSFW stuff. Which I'm sure most normal FO players don't even use. If they did add them they would have to make the game an Adults only rating since the mod can be accessed in game

Has anyone figured out a clean way to tidy up the established "cities" of post-apoc massachusetts?
All the mods I've tried break precoms/previs and don't regenerate them, or they render random furniture invisible when the whole goal of the mod was usually to "clean up trash and patch holes"
Anyone have any console commands I can use to force a settler to stay assigned to an shop? See I have a mod that allows me to build anywhere but I can't build shops for some reason, so I console spawned one in and placed a settler down with another mod but whenever I try to assign him to it, he runs to it assigns and the immediate unasigns. I'm trying to build a Slocums Joe in diamond City and it's real hard when the NPC won't stay assigned.

Are you using Conquest mod? You should use that mod and just make the market a settlement which will allow you to build stores.

Iām having an odd issue in creation kit.
I cannot get Rowdy to stop selling power armor parts or the atom cats power armor set or the power armor frame.
Iāve got:
her set up in the unused powerarmorvendorfaction for the atomcats,
unhooked atomcats faction from being a vendor,
set bluejay up as the unused atomcatsvendorfaction to compensate,
set up a replacement Reference chest in the same cell as the original for the faction vendor chest,
set that chest up with custom leveled lists within a leveled list consisting solely of power armor mods (including both misc-mod and pa-comp mods),
only imported the vault-81-caps-food list and the atom cats paint job,
and after testing with no changes even after doing a new save and then testing 3 day respawn, I changed the buy/sell list from vendormisc to a custom VendorPAMods using the keywords for PAmods and PAmaterials
I checked my mod order and I have nothing that alters the atom cats location faction members or vendors (I did have atom cats settlement by tenhats but removed it which prompted the testing on a new game)
I canāt figure out what it is Iāve missed that could cause rowdy to still sell power armor pieces (including unspecified ones like raider pa) and the atom cats full suit. Is it hardcoded or something?
For clarity, Iām just trying to make her sell only mods and paint for power armor, my mod is trying to align with power armor scarcity mods

I'm on PlayStation. Anyone know of any foliage mods that have a version without custom wind shake? I prefer the wind shake from Weather Redux, but when it comes to foliage mods, it always combines with that mod's wind sake to make a jittery mess.
Also if anyone knows of a grass clipping fixer that doesn't require DLC and is compatible with denser grass, that would be phenomenal

I did it before, but you need to do a lot of things if you really want to downgrade, like replacing all files inside the data folder, replacing the .exe, replacing the F4SE with the one you need for the version you need, installing BEES for newer mods but after all that, you can still have problems, so I recommend just a clean install with the normal version of fallout
alternatively you can also buy the GOG version of Fallout 4(its pre next gen out of the box)
Can't use it. Just tried. I am building INSIDE diamond Citys markets. I can't place down the campsite to make it into a settlement because it's inside of an existing city. I need another mod. Otherwise I need someone to tell me a console command to force a settler to work at a shop. Because they keep unasigning.

Depends on your version. Are you running next Gen or the last version before next Gen? If you want to keep using next Gen I'd suggest renaming the folder your FO4's installation folder and reinstalling the version you want. Swap the name accordingly whenever you wanna use whichever version.
probably going to sound impatient or incompetent, (or completely miss a thread on this exact issue) but i was using the bethesda.net site to try and "download" (adding to my Library) mods for FO4 . does that bit not function anymore? its just easier to track down mods there then through the in game menu.

That functionality has been quite broken since NextGen. (Even though it was advised as one of the workarounds for when everything broke.)
It is a pity because the search interface on Bethesda.Net is much better than the in game search interface. So yes it was convenient to find things on Beth.net, add to Library, then find them in game from your Library.
Since NG my Library in game never seems to hold more than 2-3 random mods. I think they broke the sync between the two.

Tricky one. Are you sure the āunusedā faction vendor you reused didnāt have some LLs in it? Have you checked every LL you are using to make sure it has no nested LLs (and so on and so on). Check her NPC record and any parent records. Check any quests she is in to see if they dynamically add anything (some vendors have that happen eg Suggs).
Raise a ticket.

You could try add to Favourites rather than add to Library? Iām not going to vouch for that method but it might give you a second roll of the dice?

My strong suspicion is that they had some kind of back end database crash at Beth.net during the NG rollout and never fully recovered from it.

Use Info doesnāt show all types of dependencies unfortunately. But itās a very good place to start.

The other thing with vendors is they often sell their personal inventory. But surely she does not have PA parts in her personal inventory??

I did a similar analysis with Ronnie once and to be honest I could never fully figure out where all of her inventory was coming from. 90% maybe but not all of it.
The only time anything changed for me was when I had all the pa_comp left out ie only misc_mod objects were being sold
But that meant half the mods werenāt being sold

Yep, edited that directly at first, then saw tuts saying thatās not advised so remade the mod with a new invisible container in the same cell being pointed to as the new reference
Also maybe put something crazy and unique into her normal container- the one you are trying to disable - like a million caps or something. That way you can see if she is somehow getting reconnected to her vanilla container despite your efforts?

I like to think so. F4 is the only one where not only are cars fully painted 200 years after nuclear fire, but the whole world seems like it just woke up with the sole survivor - still lootable stores, still stealable power armor in a world where gunners and even raiders can reprogram turrets and bots but not hack locked doors, etc etc

@rugged raven @main mist Unfortunately cleaning places up pretty much involves breaking precombines. There's no way around it if you want to delete trash and whatnot. Look up PJM's scripts on Nexus for both scripts and tutorials useful to regenerating precombines and previs. I saw mention of Tenhats. His settlement tutorial is currently the best tutorial available. As for deleting objects, make sure you run your mod through FO4Edits auto quick clean afterwards. It'll undelete the references, mark them as initially disabled and move them 30k units below ground. Never just leave references as deleted. They'll cause problems like crashing if another mod tries to reference them. Good luck with your projects!

It didn't fix anything. Couldn't find any scripts that did anything either. The LCharGunner template didn't touch the inventory in the way anticipated.
Only thing I can think of at this point is that I have to somehow unhook the vendor inventory from a location and forced reference [which would remove it from the container too]

I tried doing a simple edit to Moe Cronin's store container, removing everything in it but the caps leveled list he starts with. I swapped his shop inventory of sellable merch to alien blaster and alien blaster ammo. That's it. Nothing else for sale.
Save. Go in game. Visit Moe Cronin for the first time ever.
He's selling his default things with none of the new things anywhere. This is aggravating.

When I have dug into vendors it was for the purposes of adding extra items into every vendor and different items into weapon vendors. So I was doing the opposite of what you are trying to do: adding items not blocking items. Which it turns out is more difficult.
Actually⦠there is such a things as inventory filters on vendors. I wonder if that could solve your problem.
An example is Takahashi and also the wandering bartender guy. Iāve never been able to quite figure out how to make that work.

well yes, same as for skyrim after all, they have the same purpose

also my game is in italian, but it's easy to see the option that is grayed and locked
so you have a custom ui, and you have a 2 looks menu mods. it could be version incompatiblity if you have paired those to mods with the custom ui before
if im honest im used to looking to others for help and only recently got back into bethesda games as well as mods but most issues come down to incompatibilities between mods, or version conflicts since filenames can change and a bunch or other stuff

im glad you have sorted it though, version incompatibilities will cause you most of your issues
for now seems all good, but could be there are more mods i have to downgrade that maybe i didnt notice, and maybe ill solve the problem that i never ever solved: starting a new game without looping in main menù forever
i suggest doing it this way to minimise issues and repeats:
write down your current modlist
find the mods you know 100% work with no conflicts.
remove all others.
and them again in groups of 5 or such depending how large the list is
and start when you add them back start with the mods you know you will definitely need/want including dependencies
