I figured it would fit better here but how do the new weapons added with the next gen update stack up with everything else?

okay, I can help you with that. I would say that endless loading is a different issue. If the CC was opening wrong, you'd have a CTD opening the game. So you're doling something right.

I'm looking for a mod that completley cleans Fairline hill estates. I did it myself on xbox and previs remained intact. Tried to do it myself on pc but I broke the previs. By "clean" I mean, replaces those borken houses to fully fixed versions from snappy and cleaned or even repaired the roads too. You'd think such a mod exists, but on nexus, I see next to nothing with fairline hills
Is that the one that has homes like Sanctuary, but Supermutants living there? Don't recall if that one had a workshop. Been a long time since I visited it.
Doing edits on vanilla settings like that is pretty much guaranteed to break something with distant LOD and Previs. Never minded that much myself, but you can generate that stuff for any changes in CK. The only real downside is that you can't isolate it very well
No that's Everett hills estates I think it's called. Fairline hills, is that small cul-de-sac neighborhood with the bear and ghoul chained behind the door. On Xbox, I had every scrap mod, and scrapped every house myself and where the houses stood, I placed down the fixed one piece version of the houses found in snappy housekit. I never had problems. With Conquest, I used that neighborhood as my holiday decorating neighborhood 😊 I decorated it for Halloween and Xmas entering in settlement building competitions on Facebook lol. I tried to scrap the area on pc, and like I said, I ended up breaking the previs after I had just finished 2-4 hours of scrapping, it broke right at the end. Don't know why it broke on pc and not xbox. But maybe that's why I cannot find such a mod. I do not know how to use creation club. Would be interesting though. I like how geekrage made a starlight settlement that had a basement below that parking lot. Crazy how that can be modified.
Has anyone ever found a mod that cuts Vault 88 into 3 separate settlements? Vault, Drugstore, Subway.

Does anyone know a mod I can use on PS5 to set quest stages for a quest I’m stuck on? Best I can find is Holotape of Quest-Fixing, but I’m not so luck to have my problem quest on there.
Has anyone seen a settlement mod that makes the slog completely barren? I need that building gone and only keep the pool. I really don't want to have to use scrap mods as I almost always break previs especially on PC.

I have never used Creation Kit, but I have been watching videos on it latley. I might be brave enough to try soon. Might be tricky though as I am on GOG version. For now, I may have to temporarily install scrap mods, do my cleaning, save a blueprint as a mod, load it and then disable scrap mods. Would that work?

Ah man! If only I had waited. I just looked it up. Yeah, that's exactly what I needed. I ended up just enabling scrap mods and did it myself. I just hope I don't break previs. I tried disabling scrap mods after I scraped the building but the structure came back. I'll just have to finish building, save and enable the blueprint and then disable scrap mods. Or however that goes.
So that's why I didn't find your mod initially. You have the slog as one word "theslog". I understand there are other mods of similar name but dang. I would have made the title different somehow like "The slog ultimate deep clean by Estonia" or numbers at the end. I dunno.

I just took a look at the plugin. It's not previs safe and doesn't rebuild them. The mod author probably isn't aware of current precombine/previs practices. :/
It also technically breaks DN154 (Arlen's quest that is tied to the terminal that got deleted)

No worries man, I left a technical post on your mod's comments about the major issues before I left for family Christmas dinner. If you need help with the precombines side of things, I know a few articles that will help.
I'm not either. Can you please enlighten us? I had to turn scrap mods on and get rid of the building myself. Is my previs doomed? I scrapped the terminal, I do not care about that. I also used a npc eraser knife to get rid of every ghoul. Again, I do not care about them or their quests though.

You don't need to rebuild previs unless you make significant alterations to something that will or should be present in previs. I.e. If you remove the rocket on the red rocket and replace it with a giant clown
Previs is what you see from a distance. It has nothing to do with what you see when you are in the cell or even adjacent to it somewhere
Precombines are used in previs, but they are just an optimization locally, like a nif you make from an SCOL

If you are putting little bunches of scrub or vines in a previs, or similar, by somehow turning them into objects which will be rendered in previs, you are going to de-optimize the game. That stuff shouldn't be in there
Turn the structure into a number of SCOL and create nifs from it
I did this exact build on Xbox, and luckily I didn't break anything er, I mean no invisible walls glitching around the world luckily. But pc seems to be extra sensitive.
Once you create the nifs, delete the structure and import them as statics
Turn the statics into a precombine
A what and how?
Then build previs on the cell it is in
Static collection
Select a group of objects making up part of the structure which use the same materials, or no more than 3 or 4 material groups optimally, and create a static collection, and create a nif from that
You need a common coordinate object for each SCOL for the origin
This is something to do in creation club i assume? I need to get my feet wet with that program

Last object selected creates the origin point for the SCOL and nif created from it
So something you toss under the ground with the same materials will work
That simplifies re-importing everything and placing it.
The thing with large objects however, is that they can be called until you can see the origin

The popping in and out is generally just because you have so much stuff in the loaded area, and the game culls stuff as you move the camera around, so it will sometimes have to be reloaded into memory

I actually set up an SCOL/Nif build mod so I can create a build layer and move stuff to it, then delete and build on it as needed without worrying about breaking anything
Makes it much more efficient when you can hide the default layer, which most stuff is built on, and just work in a clean layer while keeping stuff that you need present for layout
Once the nif are created you can rename them, put them in an appropriately named folder in meshes, and import them as statics and place them in your mod, on the appropriate layers without breaking anything. It's much cleaner, but you still need to navmesh, (SCOL can't be navmeshed, but static nif can), and build anything else the mod needs after
Given how involved building can get, I just find it greatly simplifies the process.

hi, my Materials folder is missing on my Fallout 4 directory folder, what do i do? do i need to create it? i already enable the show hidden items option on the view tab
That should only be needed for loose files and should be added by any mod that is using it.
If it's not there you should be fine.

Sounds like you probably have a version mismatch for that file after downgrading. There's a way to downgrade the CK as well, I'd look into that.

Almost finished my first big settlement mod for Abernathy farm.
New structure, expanded build area, a few other additions and changes, and new navmesh and req. Scrap lists for some new build areas
Probably close to 100 hours in, lost count at this point

The new ESL appears in your data folder, next to the esp. It will not replace the esp.

Hello guys, anyone knows that why my textures render so differently in substance painter and in game (no enb)?
In substance painter they are not saturated but in game they are extremely bright and saturated
The speculat and glossiness maps are almost 0 so I don’t think it is because of speculation maps
Raider sack helmet and ragged underarmor, Hallucinating grenades, nuka world grenades, syringer with frenzy /fear darts.
Hells I’d take the Mothman cultist armor, just something better than the Raider stuff
Substance painter is great, but the game uses a different render engine, so you're going to get different results
When you build the mats in CK, you can tweak them to look better in game.
I did that with a bmp 2 material I made using the suns surface and it honestly looked really good after
But it takes some work. I had to play with emissivity, and tune the various roughness settings to get the result I was looking for
Basically, you want to assign the materials in nifskope through strings, or set them up as skins, then build the materials using CK material editor and your rough, color, metal, etc... dds files.
I looked at substance designer briefly, (I have the old version), and realized it wasn't going to be of much use, but b2m and painter can be used effectively with the CK editor

Generally resolution based, so if you have a low screen resolution it might look like that.
Some wi dows can't be resized unfortunately

I've never heard of it as a plugin, but a brief google search would suggest it's a modding framework for other titles that aren't supported in the BGS server (examples being Monster Hunter Rise)
Perhaps Random Encounter Framework? Isn't that the one Glitchfinder made?
If you have Windows 11 you might be able to adjust it through the text scaling.
I would sort of expect, if your laptop has the ability to load and run the CK, it should have a higher resolution display too.

There are various mods that add a "jetpack ring" which one specifically are you using? What is the author's username?

Unfortunately due to BGS very bad error handling in their mod manager client, any missing mod causes their mod manager to crash. Is there any chance you could upload a "No Op" dummy mod that just says "Delete me!"? This would allow PS users with UFO4P installed to regain access to the mod manager. Thanks in advance if you are able to do this...

Lot of people have this problem including me. One tip is to get a 3rd party drag widget so you can drag to the areas you need to get to in the non resizable windows. I have one, its called AltWindowDrag

if you can’t access the mods menu at all, clear your reserved space. this is caused by having a mod in your load order that was removed from bethesda.net
if you’re just trying to download a specific mod but it keeps kicking you out with the operation error, this is because the images on the mod page were corrupted by the next gen update

I'm doing a vanilla playthrough because with just a few mods, my load in time takes about 20 minutes. Unacceptable. I have pc pre next gen, but I don't know how to get shading to look as good as xbox.
this has to be an exaggeration - i have a near 150 mod load order and don't experience load times anything close to this
On Xbox? It could be types of mods and I broke previs with scrap mods. Next gen update did not like that. But it all worked just fine before next gen update. It was a "stable save" for about 2 years.
That makes more sense. Breaking previs and all precombines is just too much for the game at a certain point. It’s always a shame to see a save go.
Someone (newermind43) is recreating the equalizer in fallout 4
Is anyone else getting Creation Kit going into an endless loop at startup? Says Initialising Archive or Initialising FaceGen. For hours, CPU bound.
It is a known issue historically but no cause is given in what I found. The fixes are to run CK from Steam, and do file integrity checks on both CK and FO4. No effect.
I am on latest versions (NextGen) for both. Any ideas? My next step is uninstall / reinstall CK.
It's been fine since NextGen, I have done dozens of mod updates since then with no problems until the last 2 days.

Thought about getting back into FO4, but there are rumors about NPC-edit mods and UFO4P are unsafe to use post-NG update. If used, about 5 days into gaming, your save is completely unplayable. Any truth to that?
I usually go with Orphans of the commonwealth and some other mods to get the settlers to be not so generic, like Better settlers.
mods that alter NPC records will cause pretty nasty stuttering due to a bug that Bethesda created in the next gen update. UFO4P is one of many mods that unfortunately suffer from this game bug.

Found a mod on nexus that help PC-players; X-Cell.
It will however no be ported to Bethesda.net so console will be screwed until Beth patches it.
The magnitude of the problem has been greatly exaggerated and there's a lot of disinformation going around about various mods being "unsafe" to use with the NG update. Don't let reddit drama influence things.
There is especially no truth to any claim that UFO4P in particular will destroy your game after 5 days. Whoever is making these claims that mods have some kind of ticking time bomb in them is flat out wrong.
Anyone know how to fix Material Swaps after the NG update? I'm pretty stumped, and I'm guessing if they're not outright broken, I must be overlooking something. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
X-cell + pre generated face gen files and it’s a non issue.
I know midnight ride dropped x-cell as it’s such a minor issue in base game and it maybe had some other issues.
Can have. Any script heavy mod has the potential to contain scripts which can destroy your save over time, but generally speaking, most mods which have been well tested probably don't
I know of at least one Starfield Mod that almost certainly does, but I've never posted which as I haven't actually tested it to find out.
I do know from playing with the same sort of script heavy mods in X3 that it's very likely, as that was a problem there, though admittedly one that could be overcome
X3 had a feature in game that allowed you to adjust the scripts iirc, which made it possible to fix issues while playing.
It has been quite awhile since I played that, but I recall it being fairly simple to access scripts and make adjustments or even stop them.
"Script Heavy" is an urban myth. Your script performance in this game, as well as Starfield and Skyrim, is governed by your frame rate. The more frame heavy things you install (like 4K everything packs etc) the more the system will slow down and in turn that affects anything dependent on that. Like the Papyrus VM.
If this heaviness was an actual thing then every vanilla game would be hopelessly unplayable because they all contain orders of magnitude more scrips than any mod ever will.
If I recall, it was dropped in response to edge case crashes that I don't know if they were ever resolved.
Vanilla games are optimized to perform with the scripts they have.
The problem is when scripts are adding a bunch of stuff to the game continuously, increasing AI activity, and constantly polling. That's what I mean by script heavy
They basically add 2-3 times the AI load on top of constantly updating and adding other stuff
But, when I refer to those which can cause issues with saves, I'm referring to those which are written in such a way that they cause save file bloating
On Xbox if I move to another console with my saves set to sync, will my mods move over or do I need to reinstall them all?
So i uploaded a mod to Bethesda.net in 2020 and i thought i had it set up to be available for xbox and pc but apparently its not and its only available on pc how can i fix this and make it available on xbox aswell?

Currently for Fallout 4 you'll need to upload a separate entry for it on XBox. The ability to combine releases onto the same page only exists in the new menus for Skyrim and Starfield.

Question for those who played Fallout London:
Do you see holstered weapons like in most bethesda games or is it like fallout 4 where you don't see it?
With this FaceGen stuttering issue in NextGen, I get that we are advised to make no edits to NPCs, even purely non-visual. Is it a viable approach to make a copy of a (non unique) NPC form and edit the copy? Does that eliminate the problem? Or does it at least contain the problem to just the copy NPC, rather than the base NPC it was copied from?
@split yarrow could you please upload a "no op" mod to Bethesda.net, on the same modID as UFO4P, just a banner saying "no longer available"?
Because of how brittle the error handling is on the in-game mod manager, the Mod menu crashes on start for any PS users who have UFO4P in their load order. The only way for end users to fix this is a full redownload and reinstall of the game. So you would be helping a LOT of people who have installed UFO4P over the years if you could put up some kind of stub mod.
Maybe if you have deleted the mod on Beth.net you no longer have access to upload to that modID?
Uploading such a thing would have the same effect. It would break the game. I'm not unsympathetic to the consequences of our decision, but there's nothing we could do to mitigate that now.

I am surprised by that as normally making an update to a mod does not break the mod manager - missing files or missing mods seem to be what break the in-game mod manager. But you know how this all works better than anybody.
What about a mod that was not a total NOOP but contained nothing except an LSCR saying "please uninstall UFO4P, so long and thanks for all the fish"?
Making an update to a mod while stripping all of its functionality out of it WOULD break things. Badly. So it was either that or just delete it entirely so that nobody else ended up downloading it.
If Sony would have just gotten rid of their stupid restrictions this wouldn't even be an issue, but it's because of those that we were unable to continue support for it. It's quite infuriating to constantly be told some fix you put in simply refuses to take because of it.
I wish there was a fresh start mod for FO4 where you are an infantry soldier for a faction of choice, and you have a squad and objectives, new quests to retrieve stuff or clear locations...
Like CoD with fallout factions.
It could also make factions feel like real militaries, or you could be in charge and coordinate the progression, expansion, and conquest of your faction!

Sim Settlements 2 does something like that. Normal game start, but there's a series of quests that lead to a war between factions with Alliances and heading up the allied factions
I'll give that a look, but I mean like the base game's events have happened and you are just a random soldier...
With varying armaments based on a choice and much like 76's survival aspect, where you have difficulty authority with a low concern for food, hydration and rest but it's still important, and if you fail that can affect the rest of the campaign afterwards...

Xbox is so boned-
Basic troubleshoot btw:
- revert back to a save previous to having the mod installed
- re-install the mod to uninstall it properly (a. if it has that option) (b. its more unsophisticated but you can also grab any components from the mod, fast travel to a corner of the map > drop everything there > fast travel to the opposite corner of the map > uninstall the mod.)
- (ADV) manually reupload the mod

I mean exactly that, you go into mods, look up the mod, and as soon as you click on it to try and download it, it sends you back to the main menu with that message
you could also be missing dependencies like Nuka-World or some other mod community resource like AWKR

hmmm you could also have reached your maximum mod limit. Console has a hard GB limit to mods you can download.
uhh my last guess would be that maybe you aren't appropriately logged in to Bethesda.Net.
Besides that I would need to start seeing what you see like Screenshots, Clips, Error Logs, etc.

You could try a fresh install of fallout. I think these may just be out of date. That is my final call, other than that I am not as familiar with the console scene.
Oh, I just deleted all my saves. I literally wiped all data for the game and I'm redownloading it right now

the images on the mod page were corrupted due to the next gen update and need replacing

This is a common problem. Really this error message is so generic it is almost useless. Some of the common causes of this error message are:
- a mod in your mod list has been removed or its main image is broken/missing (error occurs before mod manager displays anything)
- one of the images in the mod is broken (error occurs after starting the mod manager, when browsing/looking at that mod)
- a specific XBox error to do with... some technical XBox specifics, "reserved space" or whatever, IDK Xbox
- just a generic transient failure, either Bethesda servers are busy, or your internet connection is flaky
-- for this last one a good diagnostic is: can you get to Creation Club? If you can get to Creation Club fine, but not to Mods, then it's not a connection error, password error, etc.
Its essentially just because of the updates; The mod was last updated 2017 and the game was updated as recently as May 2024. If you got the bells to download it on PC you can jingle it to Bethesda.Net (privately) and download it to your xbox so you can jangle it into your game.

Here's a tip for others, a trap I fell into that wasted me a few days of work.
Standard precedence hierarchy of packages is Scene > Alias > Actor > Default.
I was deploying packages on the Alias and then in desperation on the Actor but only the Scene packages were ever working.
It turns out on the Scene data there is a thing called Actor Flags, and if you open that up one of the flags is called Allow Scene Packages Only, and for some reason that was set on my actor. Apparently set by default because I do not remember touching it.
so like I have buffout 4, x-cell and high fps fix installed but still get random slow loading times do I have to edit the ini file or something?

You don't actually need to do that. Doesn't really do much anyway.
What you need to do is remove the ambient lights in the cell, because they are what light the space. In game, it's just black without them, unless the cell was set up to use exterior lighting somehow
Though, to be honest, having an absolute black interior cell is kind of trash
It doesn't look good or make sense. It's just black screen until you turn on a flashlight, and then you have an absence of realistic illumination
Your real light would bounce and have a much greater falloff, which is what ambient light is meant to simulate or 'mask'
Nothing is ever truly black, short of sticking your self in a completely closed space with no illumination anywhere
Even then, it's not really black because there is still infrared
Either way, it doesn't really work when you are looking at a monitor anyway. It just looks like your monitor was turned off
Lighting is tricky. You have to find the right, non specular light, adjust radius, falloff, and tint, and make it fit the space so it gives it very minimal illumination, without creating edges, or visible radius to the light, because ambient shouldn't have a visible source.
Then you work with visible lighting to illuminate the space, ased on light positions and strength, and finally, you add various non specular lights to increase ambient light with tinting and such to fit glows and various other emitters in the environment
When you're done, it shouldn't really be obvious where a light is coming from unless it has a visible source, and there should be varying degrees of illumination based on the strength of the visible sources, essentially diminishing the further you get from bright light sources
I haven't finished seeing up the lighting, partly because I'm learning as i go, ideally it was supposed to be pitch black because we are in a vault and i wanted players to see things in a specific order without the help of a "night light".
Tbh in irl, i know what you mean because i tend to walk around at night thanks to the little leds on my devices like the ones in my TV or my speakers but id still prefer to make it darker than what it is now.
True dark was just an example of how dark i wanted it, i was still going to leave a "squints" worth of ambient light
I tried to do something like that too. It requires more ambient light sources though, because the strength of those sources is tied to the radius
So about 4 times what would need for just a bit more light

If it’s in creation club and not mods you might get a response. (I highly doubt it tho fallout 4 is a game that isn’t getting updates if any anymore)
It is creation club. I’m angry because I paid actual money for it, and it’s completely broken. Most of the walls and floors are missing, and so is the ceiling. I thought it was just a temporary issue at first. I closed out of the game and came back in, still a problem. I tried loading a prior save, that didn’t work. And I play on console, so that’s all I could do aside from deleting the game entirely and trying again. I wouldn’t be asking if they hadn’t gone out of their way to release a “next gen” update 9 years after the games release that only served to make the game worse.

Clear your reserved space for Fallout 4 - you likely have a mod in your load order that was removed from Bethesda.net. You will need to redownload all of your mods again if you do this.

It's actually a known issue that Bethesda is aware of, as far as I know. I should whip up a mod hotfix for it at some point once the console mod upload problem is patched.

The thing to remember about pre combine patches is that the information is stored in the cell headers, so, since prp.esp covers like 98% of them, load low.
so i'd want it towards the bottom. do i want it dead last or is this good

Hi. I am on XBox Series X and I have a slight problem. I am playing with mods (no graphics mods. Only adding a bit, settlement mods or texture mods.).
I am experiencing lag, but only every 11-12 seconds and only at the red rocket truck stop. I have really no idea, what could cause this. I deactivated all mods and it worked fine. After installing only Unofficial Fallout 4 Patch, it started lagging again (and testing single mods that don’t do anything drastic). The lags appear when I fast travel to RR. When I fast travel to sanctuary and walk to RR it works just fine, but when I use a workbench or anything, it starts lagging again. I will provide some footage and my load order. Maybe someone can help me, cause I am to tired and don’t know how to progress at this point. Thank you in advance 🙂 ❤️

Precombines don't break unless someone changes the vis or allows you to delete something, or deletes something and doesn't find a way to fix them
or the load order is wrong. which is what my problem was
VIS is set up so, if you enter a space where a permanent object existed but doesn't the vis doesn't exist for that space, on one hand
On the other, it's calculated off existing world spaces, and when someone rebuilds vis it can completely break it, causing entire structures to disappear because they are no longer incl.
Load order will only fix it if the overwriting mod overwrites what is broken

Actually, I think they probably did change it for Starfield. They rewrote the rendering module in the engine iirc, and I don't think the way it is set up in FO4 would even work in SF
I also don't recall seeing it in SF CK, but I didn't do a lot with locations when I was using it

Quick question: i been using USO for the past year to build all of my settelments but is there a mod that adds fresh and new settelment objects that add to the post-apocaliptyc vibe... so things like scrappy tables and furniture or defenses

You likely have mods in your load order that were deleted from bethesda. Since the NG update this breaks the mods menu and requires you to clear your Reserved Space for FO4 on Xbox. Not sure how you do it on Playstation? Might need to reinstall if you can’t find anything online.

There's a dlc that adds a ton of concrete slabs you can build with. Though, fair warning it will look like a prison.

So i did actually figure out the problem
Wasn't the internet exact. Essentially i was "logged in" to nexus
I was able to sub to the premium subscription, but somehow wasn't fully logged in or something. I logged out and restarted my browser, and that fixed the problem.
As long as it worked, I guess, though DNS servers are known to be like hamsters at times.
so now my problem is that the sound isnt working
I seem to be experiencing difficulty in saving mod updates to Bethesda_dot_net when updating the description for a mod. I get the Saving Data ... message, followed immediately by the Could not save data. Please try again. message. Any guidance?
Has anyone ever incurred the issue where monsters/mod enemies and modded items appear a bright purple and poorly textured but everything else fine?
If it's bright purple that typically means the game isn't finding the textures for whatever reason. If it's more of a static look, that's usually the result of a corrupt or incorrectly formatted texture or texture archive.

my choices will probably be bad cause I don't got much to use (PlayStation player 😭) but I have a mod installed called Grognak Bodysuits 2.0 or something like that and am using the hooded cape with leaves as a sort of camo outfit as well as McCready's Outfit as the underarmor
For the gloves and bag I use UCO, I also have a full set of heavy combat armor on that's invisible via UCO
Id also equip a gas mask but it takes off the Caped Hood so I can't

if you kill riley, they do aggro. you can kill the dc guard but then you become an enemy of dc
But he didn't deserve to die tbh he was just scyzhophrinic

you can use the console to select his dead body and use resurrect, although he's technically supposed to die after this so you might not be able to talk to him

i guess if you have the robotics expert perk you could hack takahasi to get him to aggro agaist the dc guard which might distract them from shoot him

Hello, im trying to make a power armor mod with custom meshes and all was great with flowers and rainbows until i had to do the arms and legs, they are a nightmare, (im using bodyslide studio) there is a faster way to see how they are going to look the meshes in my power armor frame? because what i am doing, is moving a little the mesh part in the bodyslide studio and then opening fallout, that same proccess again and again and again until that very part is in the place i want it to be, but it is very time-taking, i took almost 5 hours moving each part, any help and advice will be very appreciated! thank you

You can clear your reserved space for FO4 but it’ll delete all the mods currently installed. It will allow you back into the menu though.

I’m new to PC and I just got F4 I started the game, I didn’t do anything to it, I then started modding on nexus with vortex, I thought I downloaded everything I needed so it can work but then the game would crash in about 10 seconds upon loading up everytime, so I disabled all the mods and now the problem still consists with or without mods, please someone help me.

i wouldn't use vortex, i would use MO2, and did you make sure you have F4SE and everything installed

I think that Bethesda should not force 3rd person animations on the player if the player has selected to play the game in first person and keep the 3rd person animations only for players that have selected to play the game in 3rd person I’m a low level modder and I’m interested in creating a mod that removes the 3rd person animations if there are any modders out there that could point me in the right direction to look, I don’t mind doing the work and would love some advise on where to start looking in the CK.

The furniture has a a keyword force 3 person, remove that.
In Bethesda games when the player is in 1st person and uses a workbench or sits etc it forces the perspective to 3rd person for the animation and displays workbench menu if applicable

The issue has also been greatly exaggerated in terms of the UFO4P as well. While it's certainly there, it's nowhere near the degree people claim it is because all of the edited NPCs are so spread out. You only really run into big problems when they concentrate in larger numbers in a small area.

New here, I’m still pretty disappointed that the Next-Gen Update was forced into your game save and not an optional download. There’s mod named “Conversions” that adds new ammo conversions for weapons in tandem with Munitions and was unable to make use of any grenade launcher ammo types due to the update. I have no problem with them adding new Creations to the game for those that want them, but I hope Bethesda changes this eventually so it isn’t like this for us players. I won’t hold my breath though.
I think Beth is done with both Fallout 4 and Skyrim. They have Starfield and ES6 that are the focus. The only thing you’ll get for Skyrim are creations and nothing for 4.
I know. It’s just annoying that we can’t choose whether to download them or not. For us on PC it can conflict with mods that we download on Nexus or otherwise. It’s caused a ton of heated debate in the community.

I don’t mind the content, heck I’d rather have the update in order to have the most recent UFO4P. It’s just that you can’t choose to install it, like other past Creations. It’s already there. Maybe if the fanbase makes a big enough stink or something. For those who use the most recent update, best we can do is ignore it.
Problem is Bethesda is only going put anything Fallout 4 on the shelf or like the update, half-baked, so long as 76 is relevant and making money. God I love their games though.
I don’t think it’s that it’s just FO4 is old now and there isn’t much more they can do for the game. CC is dead for VC and they aren’t going to increase the mod GB or add the VC for 4. So it’s just best for Beth to move on from the game.
There's no evidence to suggest that they have no further plans for the game just because they aren't telling you what they might be.

If you're getting this error when trying to open the mods section from the main menu, you likely have a mod in your load order that has been removed from bethesda.net

No you can wipe your reserved space which will remove all of your installed mods. You can also try to sign into a different account, open fallout 4 and go to the mods page and it will let you access your load order. From there you can search for which mod has been deleted by using the bethesda website and searching for each mod in your load order. This can be very time consuming if you have a big load order so it's usually worth just starting from scratch by wiping your reserved space.
We don't know. But it's pure speculation to say they're done with the game forever.
You know, the times i played Fallout 4 Mods, like Graphics Mods, Retexture Mods, even improvement mods, Crashed a bunch of times, corrupted my game twice and had to reinstall my game 3 times because it kept freezing and crashing at the main menu of fallout 4

Does any mod maker have any insight into what mistake I am making if, when I try to set up a hotkey in my mod's mcm, when I want to actually set it in -game it does not "stick", it just sets for a microsecond then goes back to "none" ?

If it's a freeze then crash, it could be game data, game files, or outdated software that needs a update

Alright, i think. It's an "simple" mod that get rid of recoil from the game, from vanilla weapons, modded weapons, everything. Call it skill issue, but i hate it, that's all, zero recoil.

What you mean by "costume slot"?
Each part of the gun and the legendary power is a slot filled by a keyword

The weapon can be dropped but not picked up. That's the bug I did not think about to much. Just don't drop a bunch of them and I think you'll be ok.

Hello, good evening or good morning or good afternoon, I today decided to download Gas Masks of the Wasteland (full version 459mb), and upon equipping my mask, I get this HUD widget, and it just says "VALUE".
I tried to see if I can reset the widget by "turning it off and on" again and I got a crash, if I unequip it, and equip it again, my game goes poof.
Additional information: Platform: Xbox Series S,
How many mods I have: 139 (without gas masks mod)
Do I have the same issue with any of my other mods? No.
I have Hudframework and "paper boy" mod, along with "better item names", no hud presets either.

also 76 bgsm's take a few differant maps than f4
id recomend in your material folder under data put a updated bgsm file with your defuse, normal and spectural and metalic in some cases assigned and drag and drop your dds textures in data/textures

Building mods like scrappy and snap n build are fine. It's the scrap mods that you gotta be mindful of as they break previs and can cause missing textures and performance issues. If you want to use a prewar sanctuary settlement mid game like something by the realjenn(my personal favorite) it works well, you just have to follow instructions. Anything you have built will still be there. A good rule of thumb when you add any settlement mod, is to walk to said settlement from far away so it can load in properly. Do not fast travel to it at first. So, after enabling a sanctuary settlement mod, you want to walk from about concord location. Walk. Don't run.
This is why I don't do mods and I used xbox one
Yikes, if you are on old old xbox one, prepare yourself for endless crashing. Even with a perfect load order. I first played on old xbox one s and was crashing like 15 times a day. Do yourself a favor and upgrade to a newer xbox. I play on both xbox x and pc. It's harder to mess mods up on Xbox x, but xbox is severely limited compared to what pc can do. But it's good to get practice on Xbox first. But if you are attempting on old xbox one, you are going to get severely frustrated.
Yea last experience was with skyrim I had to restart the entire game never trusted mods since.
There is certainly a learning curve. What helped me when I first got into mods was finding a good load order template similar to this. Structure your load order accordingly.

Howdy folks, does anyone know if the commonwealth GECK Project mod functions correctly for the older version (.163)
As far as I know, any plugin based mod (esp/esm/esl) should work as expected in .163 and .984 with minor differences in support, with the exception of Far Harbor if you aren't playing on Steam, assuming the plugin touches that DLC.
Most of us mod developers assume you are using the current release though.
I used it all the time on pre next gen xbox. I assume that might be same build version sorta if that helps. Great mod.

If it's set up as an attachment you should be fine.
Just remove it from the gun before uninstalling.
Even if it's not, there shouldn't be any issues. Textures are mostly just in a hierarchy, so it should just drop to the default.

So, i searched like a lot, for what was causing the stuttering post update
And by what i understood, mods that alter NPC faces are causing stuttering, and some other that edit their records. I uninstalled Unofficial Patch, Sanctuary NPCs Overhaul, Simple Settlers (Mortal) as they edited NPC faces, and i read somewhere that Loot realism and referred mods also caused stutter. So i started a new game without them, and if there's stuttering occuring, i am not noticing
But still, i want an plane to fall over Todd's house, they could had just not messed the game up
Sometimes I think it's possible to make patch for NPC glitch for FO4 Next-Gen and UFO4P authors are "just" drama builders and they don't want to check EVERY feature to remove it in case if Bethesda really fixed something. Sometimes.

potentially you could put quest aliases on all workbenches so there's a marker on them when you run the "find workbenches" quest, the only issue is it will be tedious in the ck to do so the batch editor will prob come in clutch for making such a mod
a havok tools license would be required to change the transform of the animation keyframes and tons of experience unless a creative workaround is found lol

Just need a simple mod where my character needs to eat sleep and drink, and maybe have fast travel toggleable. Not interested in it doing anything else, and the penalties aren’t too severe. Does it exist? If not would someone be so kind as to make it, or walk me through the steps of making it.
Fallout 76 is just right for me. If we could mimic that game for 4’s hardcore/survival, or better yet add them to normal, that would be awesome. (Ideal)
I have an idea. Since there are issues with changing survival, or adding needs systems to normal, look at this solution. The need to eat, sleep, and drink can be added as more of an incentive rather than a punishment. Giving these items bonuses worth having will create the illusion of needing to drink, eat, and sleep. Here are some examples.
6-8+ hours of sleep gives an xp boost, perception +1, luck +1, and intelligence +1 for 14-16 hours
Most drinking items have slight buffs as is, but purified water will grant ap refresh rate, +1 agility, and +1 endurance for 4-6 hours.
Same with food. Foods will grant + 1 strength, + 1 charisma, and damage resistances for 4-6 hours.
They already have bonuses that create this, but I’m proposing honing in on this aspect and improving upon it with this approach in mind. Of course, that Yao Guai meat can have a use for cooking, but you get like 3 of them per play through… Lots of molerat meat and dog meat, however. Let’s make cooking them up something to really look forward to.

I know there’s a few playable ghoul mods for console but none of them are what I’m looking for. One lets you become a ghoul at any time but you can’t really customise yourself much. The other one is great for face customisation but it requires you to become a ghoul as you leave the vault and I’m using an alt start mod and want to avoid that.
Are there any other ghoul player mods on Xbox that have good customisation and let me turn ghoul at any time?

with your present scrap mods, are you able to see other spawn points? Like at Jamaica plain, there are lots of ghoul ambush points that can be scrapped. They are invisible and you just have to look around for them. If you can see such things, then you should be able to see a spawn point for the queen.
Is MCM considered a plugin?
If you are using mo2, you can see your plug in list on the right side. I want to say yes or most likely to it being a plug in. But I'm not 100% sure on that.

Is there a mod to just raise the cap values of food items? I can’t find one that does what I need it to. I’ve tried yellowcake, cooking overhaul, and CHEF. Those were the only ones I could find that adjusted the values. Raising their cap value should increase how much hunger they replenish, right?
I think I found one ‘Survival Configuration menu’. It has a bit of a learning curve, but I believe it is what I’m looking for. This mod author has a lot of excellent mods. Very impressive. Now let’s see if I can get it to work with ‘Survival Options’, which is my favorite so far.
Trying to run GOG version of Fallout 4 with MO2 after having previously used the MO2 build for the Steam version. It is giving me an error where it says this file is not found.
(ccSBJFO4003-Grenade.esl + MakeshiftweaponAMMO.esp, zsz_fixgen_makeshiftammo.esp) I ran the game with GOG and I also noticed the Creations portion of the mods were missing from the main menu. Is there a workaround to that, or are creations just not used with the GOG version of Fallout 4?

Not really, it is extremely helpful with survival too and makes it much more manageable in my opinion.
Just a heads up though, the tools are hard coded as junk even if you use a tools are not junk (misc) mod. So, don't scrap player junk, just stash all junk and then scrap stash junk.

Also, you can have all workbenches activate the mod, which is super convienient for Survival playthroughs where you don't want to really cheat. Sometimes a visual glitch can occur at the workbench if you have other mods that mess with the workbench ui. You can decide if you want to activate it through the workshop bench, workbenches, or just use the Universal Stash Settlement buildable stash instead, however.

Yep. GOG got it in their heads that the 9 additional DLCs in the distribution required access to the Creation Club.

I'm an experienced modder on Skryim, and just got a copy of FO4 for PC - I'm gathering so far that modding for FO4 is quite similar to modding for Skyrim, but I have a few questions about how to pack archives, how to compress things properly, et cetera - all nuts and bolts questions.

Also, and maybe related: why do I have two instances of reserved space?
I just cleared my reserved space to try and rebuild my load order and resume my playthrough, and a day later I can't use the mod menu?
I don't suppose anyone would have any advice? even if that advice is "delete your reserved space again and start over again"

Just be sure to use the provided article, and follow the steps as they are listed, even the ones you have already tried, as this will help narrow down what may be causing the issue. It could be something as simple as a Creation on your list may be conflicting with another Creation, or simply needs to be updated by the creator, so you will likely need to remove it for the time being.

@thin cloud I keep reading that if a mod gets deleted by it's author, and that mod is still in your LO, that can cause it. Has that been fixed?
You will have to log into your account on the Bethesda page, go to your library, and remove it from there.

I asked this, because I deleted a mod from the bnet side before deleting it from my LO - could that be why this has happened, and if so why hasn't this problem been fixed?

It has not been fixed because you need to uninstall the game completely to remove the corrupted files from your Xbox

You deleted a mod from the website, before removing it from your load order. The game then attempted to load a file that was no longer there. Hence why it is not working. This is why you need to uninstall the game completely and then install the game only so then you can go and remove the mod/creation from your load order so that you do not install it again.

Why then, can a mod be deleted from bnet for skyrim, without it completely screwing over the Load Order of everyone that has that mod? When that happens on Skyrim, all that happens is that the name of the mod gets replaced with the .esp name.
Only for FO4 does this problem exist.
also - I can still play my save, even though the mod was deleted from Bnet the mod is still in my game files.

i know. I also see that there are folks from bethesda, that's who I meant. I've filled out tickets numerous times from the website and have never once recieved a satisfactory answer

No. Your save file is tied to your GamerTag. As for your load order, well, you deleted a mod from the website before removing it from in-game.
