This theory is for individual mods, but the person still able to enter to the in game mod section. The more annoying one is wen the player can not enter the mod section from the main manu. Some people are commented happen because mods in the LO of the player were remove from Bethnet. I don't know if this is true but wen happen to me I delete my mod partition on Series S and I was able to enter again to the mod section and in fact a mod from my LO was remove from the site.
Little update it still crashes so any help?
I wish there was a mod for the Intitute that allowed the faction you joined take over the Institute. I mean there are mods where you can run the institute and tell the leaders it's my way or get out, but none where if you don't join them you the only option is a nuke? come on hasn't the world seen enough destruction? Banish or execute anyone in the institute who doesn't comply with being supervised by the player's faction they joined. There is so much good the Institute could have done.
Current theory is that if you had a mod that was removed from bethesda.net (for whatever reason) you can't get in to the mod page anymore. Enough reports of that were here since the updates and i had the same problem because one ma removed all of his mods. Only solution is to clear reserved space and rebuild your loadorder. And be careful what mods you download because as long as their is no fix it will happen everytime a mod in your loadorder vanishes.

I use Alt Drag for the same problem in the CK and it works fine.
I think there are multiple causes for this, all the ones mentioned
- back end server load (that has always been an occasional issue)
- corrupted image files on the back end for specific mods
- missing mods.
The problem can exhibit:
- when starting the game
- when starting the in game mod manager
- when starting the in game CC manager
- when browsing or searching mods
- when using CC Download All button
If it doesn't resolve on a few retries, for each platform (PC PS XB) there is a different procedure to effectively clear your local cache of mods. This then seems to greatly reduce the chance of getting the error, allowing you to rebuild your list of mods one at a time.
If you identify the issue is specific to one mod, do contact the mod author but also raise a ticket with Bethesda.
From my own experience, the corrupted images were themselves caused by back end server issues around the time of the NG update. Images were being corrupted on the Bethesda back end during the upload process.
I'm not saying there is one single cause, but, errors on individual mods do at least partly explain general errors in searching and browsing mods. It's very clear that the whole in game mod manager will force-exit the second it encounters any kind of issue. That could just be scrolling quickly past a mod that has a corrupted image. Or it could just be a transient back end failure while trying to pull data about a mod that is itself totally fine.
In the Last Gen days when this error occurred, Bethesda support would say check your network connection, your proxy, use a hard line, etc. Clearly something very different is going on with this error since Next Gen. It is still at epidemic proportions, even now 5-6 weeks later.

Also - it's important to distinguish the Load Order screen from the main mod browsing screen. The Load Order screen is a secondary screen reached from the main mod manager screen. In my experience if you can actually get to the Load Order screen that's a big win. The Load Order screen seems to be more stable and allows you to control your mods more easily. If anyone is having trouble but is able to ever get to the Load Order screen, try Disable All Mods. That may immediately stabilise the problem. Failing that try Delete All Mods.
Lastly, the Bethesda.net website (login required) is accurate and stable. Use it to:
- check which mods are in your Library
- see if a mod has been removed from Bethesda.net
- see if a mod may have broken images
- get mod author details to try and contact them
- get the mod ID to raise a ticket with Bethesda
- add or remove mods from your Favorites as a way of tracking them
- add or remove mods from your Library. This should eventually sync back to your platform - but is not guaranteed in the current situation.

A basic FO4Edit question for the mod authors here.
Is there any way I can create a new reference with FO4Edit? Or can only the Creation Kit do that?
I have used FO4Edit to change an existing ref into a different form type (a wrench into a bench, say) and reposition it. But that gives a nasty CK load warning. Can FO4Edit make a net new reference?
I normally would use CK for this but my potato PC can no longer render the world. 🙁

Hey can anyone here help with some mods? I need Cbbe and body slide compatibility mods for two mod sets as it requires very specific body types and settings to use.
I don't understand what you need here, can you explain bit better? Like can't you just use bodyslide to build them to your own body preset? What's the problem?
The mod armors are a bit oversized and don't fit like they would on the Halo models. And I don't have the knowledge of how to convert them into body slide compatible files.
The mods are the UNSC marine BDU and ODST armor mods.

I figured out how to copy refs into a new ESP file which kind of solved my immediate problem.
I looked it over and tried to follow the instructions but whenever I tried to get the file to use I couldn't find them. The .nif files are not there.

So out of curiosity, what would be the right kind of “toe-dip” to do if I wanted to learn how to use the Fallout 4 Creation Kit? Some suggested I make a simple melee weapon or Deliverer remesh to get familiar with some of the tools. If you're using the collection, then only use that collection. Nothing extra. That's why collections exist. They're full load orders. (or are supposed to be)

Nifskope you can look up ethereon on NexusMods. He made a written tutorial on how things are laid out. DAmanding is king of clutter and snapping and might also have something on his website tutorial-wise. There are at least two very good videos on his modding wiki. I’m unsure if kinggath made a video but you can look for Bethesda Mod School and see if he made a tutorial for the snapping. There are a couple for Nifskope.
3DS Max 2013 (easier to do than in Nifskope but stick with Nifskope and tutorials for that if what’s next is confusing or you don’t have Max- I don’t know if you’re a 3D artist and I don’t know all of the vocab):
Semi-Automated:
Robotten has a max script that lists the point names but it doesn’t work to automate things completely. It will create the WorkshopConnectPoints node though and set up the properties. It will not create editor markers which are 16 cm hemispheres with a shader property of a specific color from the BGS exporter tool at each snap point. Local Y-axis snaps together.
Manual:
make a dummy point where you want to snap, keep it with sgokeep=1 on the properties. Make sure it is outside collision. Give it a name starting with p-
Snap points pivot points snap together on the local Y axis for floors. They have specific names to snap into so you can look at those in Nifskope. (If you’re creating custom, no other pieces will snap to yours. Do it yourshelf snap points names are open for use with credit.)
Make a dummy helper at 0,0 and name it WorkshopConnectPoints. Make sure to keep it and all dummies with sgokeep=1 on the properties. It will be the node for all your points except the p- workshop origin point. Origin will be under the top node of your model and is the default point of rotation for the object if you don’t set up a rotation point.
Set up your collision to not cover your snap points.
To export, follow kinggath’s export instructions from his 3DS Max 2013 collision tutorials. (if you made editor markers, in elrich you’ll want to check the box to keep them.)
Not a “good” tutorial. I’m on phone but it should cover the basics and give you a starting point.
Kinggath, Seddon4494, and Darkfox127 all have good video tutorials covering those. Seddon4494 has interiors for both GECK and CK and the basics are the same for cells. Precombines are more advanced optimization than portals and roombounds. But there are tutorials for those too.

Darkfox covers Skyrim but NPCs are set up in the same fashion. There’s a few differences with the appearances and template system but it’s rather self explanatory once you know what the basics are and study how the NPCs are set up in the base game.

You cannot make statics from those. You can use Nifskope to make collision. I’m on phone so don’t have access to my bookmarks. Look up JBostrus or Jonathan Ostrus (I forget which he goes by on YouTube) to find the collision for Nifskope 8 or 10.

You will not be able to make navcuts for any doors unless that plugin is setup to support collision as well.

i really hope the starfield mod tool is easier to work with. hopefully more similar to unreal or unity with bringing in items
i can mod an unreal game so quickly and easily but this takes 10x the amount of time and a dozen extra tools

I use two versions of blender 4.1.1 my main and 3.6.11. this last one is the only I see have a update 3.6.12

The working theory that is cause by broken images in the mod gallery, only thing you can do is try to contact the mod autor.

Yes I think that's a major cause. Not so much the NG update itself now, as the ongoing issues with mod connect/login/browse/search/download
Multiple causes - broken images, missing mods, generally high server load, maybe IPv6 clients...
If you are using AWKCR uninstall it or install its compatibility update
Sounds like there’s a missing file or the UI is trying to load/access something that isn’t available. Are you using FallUI? Do you have the icons pack enabled? And are you playing NG or old gen FO4?
Running old-gen LooksMenu against the NG build? Just a guess - I have no idea otherwise.

I think in my case was over 300mb was a landscape texture mod, and since textures use esp on xbox i do not know how bad going to be continue using that save, so I start again. for the third time. 😮💨

I love settlements, it's the main reason I have nearly 120 days of playtime.
From my understanding the stuttering will happen if you have ANY mod that changes NPCs installed.
How much of a change? Like, if companions have different faces?

You have any mod can cause it? Some body mods can cause it, like A-Body (male body) has screaching bug with lower body, it's known bug for that mod and gets fixed after you create your character.
I haven't had these issues in my copy but I am having trouble with two mods communicating. It's the Eli's Armour Compendium and it's classy chassis replacer mod. The replacer mod hasn't been updated to work with the newest version of EAC. It's mainly textures so I'm wondering if anyone can make a texture "patch" for it so I can use the mod without using the older version of EAC.

Yup. Currently using older version but would like to have an updated version in case of newer models added thanks to enclave additions to Fallout 4.
Here how I fixed: download both versions, let newer one overwrite older one, that fixes pink texture problem, only problem you will have is some armors having black weird parts, only 3-4 of them or something, zap those parts on bodyslide, eli's armor compendium already have too many look-alike outfits with classy, and it works fine.
Hi all! I was hoping to get some help or guidance that I have not found online regarding creating a custom companion.
She is created in the kit, placed in the world, followed el classico Seddon tutorial. I zip up the archive and send it to my partner to test because I currently can't test with my setup.
she is in the world but just stares at him. I am wondering if I an not exporting the scripts somehow. I use the "creative archive" and zip up the files that are then created. am I missing something? I hate to remake her. Thanks in advance!
How long do you have to wait for enemies to Respawn and dungeons to refresh?
5 days in game. Same as Skyrim.
Tried that but the fatigues, raider leathers and drifter outfit completely disappeared leaving any female model wearing them nude.
Whenever I try to go to the mods page this happens, how do I fix it?
Mods are so broken. I can't get on my mod page on the web site for over a week now. I can get in on PS5 but i can't even get my new pc version on stream to load up. So im waiting for a pc disc version and mod shopping the nexus instead.
That's probably normal, you gotta wait in game for a 185+ hour after changing any mod changing your leveled order, do that then wait or sleep for at least 185+ hour (more than a week), then go check them again, should be fine. Because when you do change on leveled orders changes wont apply until new enemies respawn, and that takes at least a ingame week. They get naked because you take/change their spawned armors (mostly id changes) since they can't wear things out from thin air they just lose their armors instead.
And longer in Survival. 21 days? 14?
MAs, does anyone know of a default script or other existing asset that can fire SendStoryEvent or SendStoryEventAndWait? Other than the BOS grenade script, which hard codes some checks like SafeLocation() check.

Does anyone know where to get ahold of greywolf357s? I have been using his "Hidden Bunker" mod on PS5 but it breaks Far Harbor past the Glowing Grove. I tested each of the mods I had, painfully, one by one, so I am 100% certain that it is his. There's some conflict that just crashes whenever you get just past that space in any direction.
I've been using the STS - All in one, and the body one on PS5 without issue. Even though previously it had issues with Far Harbor, as a lot of things do, the game has never crashed because of that mod yet. Slowed down? Maybe. The Echo lumber mill was being pretty slow and glitchy, but that also may have been due to the "remove build limit" mod I have installed as well.
Uh what about pc?
Not sure. I would assume it would be a similar outcome, depending on your PC hardware. My laptop isn't powerful enough to run a lot of things. It's got an old Nvidia 940MX card.

Easiest thing you can do is take your current file, make another duplicate hard save, download and enable the mods. Far Harbor and Nuka World from what I hear have the most trouble with STS on all platforms. I have them both at the top of my load order (not sure how much of a difference it makes, it hasn't seemed to make any difference to anything).

So I’ve been getting a bug recently where when I load in to the game or just randomly in the game during dialogue it will exit out of the dialogue and it is stuck in 3rd person for a few seconds where my character says “seems to be growing well” or “I need to assign someone to this” I never added any other mods that would do any settler changes to my knowledge and my load order is basically the same as it’s always been. Anyone have any ideas?

@vapid mulch At last finished mod list and started playing, but now I'm having FPS drops happening out of nowhere and the game freezing for 1-3 seconds, it drops from stable 60 fps to 1-15, etc, quite annoying and couldn't find the culprit yet :I
It's that NG bug... Basically any mod that edits NPCs will cause the stutter. It's very annoying

I still have some mods there and there I need to install (like that good looking settlement mod and needed mods), test, etc, and not that necesarry. 171 hard, 261 plugin (the ones with esp/esl) but total without esl/esp (plugin count) 757 mod total.

Eh, I got the laptop for $180 used. Can't complain too much. 
Yeah I'm trying everything I can find, like lowering shadows, opening precombines on settings, trying some performance settings given by windows and users, but can't fix it, not sure what problem is, hope I can found it, at first I thought might be because of VTAW armor mods and mod I have for them to given raiders, etc, they were looking hot but size was to big, so I tried that, but it seems it wasn't the culprit, then I though god rays and shadows, but again not helped, I don't know I feel like it's not about the hardware I have or graphic settings, I feel like there is another problem, but can't find it, yet I hope...

Anyone know any mods that have pre set sanctuary roads that u can place down I found them before but I had to delete my save file cause a mod was causing my game not to load
The stuttering is unfortunately caused by any mod altering NPCs. Remove those mods, and the stuttering goes away.

Since I have 700+ mod, I might never find the culprit and worst if it's not culprits and it's culprits or mod conflict :I I tried disabling outfit mods with lots of loose files like VTAW and Obi's armors, but that didn't helped, so either I have to disable more outfit mods and I have not enough VRAM because of loose files, or culprit is not VRAM. I might try to disable all or nearly all loose file mods and give a try.

so, check this out: I uninstalled vortex WITHOUT purging the mods on my skyrim se.
so i reinstalled vortex for skyrim lol,and spent the last two days getting back into it before screwing soemthing up. So I unstalled all hte mods and the game and reinstalled it and mods using a guide. Right now i'm getting jk's inside mods lol
my favorite mod in skyrim was the mod adding little bit shake like thing to weapons, it was fixing no hit feeling problem of skyrim, you were feeling like hitting something alive and not a wall

I spent hours to just to google how I can detect the culprit, I find some known mods can cause problems like AWKCR (I already knew that tho) and like scrap everything, tried install some texture overhaul mods letting you get better performance, etc, but non helped sadly 😄
Damn, it's the darkside of modding. Mod to make an awesome game even better but mod too much and you have a higher chance of breaking the game again... But at least you can grate cheese off those beautifully textured abs while sitting comfortably in a cushy pre made settlement, with all the shiniest guns and armor and companions to protect you. Modding can be a fickle b*tch for sure 🥲

I just disabled all outfit mods, it was around 150 or something, nothing changed, either I gotta disable more texture mods with loose files or problem is not outfits nor loose files, imma continue.

The upside is that when I do load my game, it looks and runs amazingly aside from the expected stutters. So technically, I should just play it 😅
Update: disabled all hair mods, not fixed whole problem, but felt like drops happened less frequently. But that's a problem by itself, cuz I need hair for a lot of mods 🤣 And it still not fixed whole problem, time to disable all body, face, etc, mods :I
Edit: did, and fps drops still happens as much in face part, so not sure if really helped or not...

You can, but next-gen has a lot of problems and a lot of mods not works, I personally suggest downgrading your game version before next-gen then modding after it, that way you can use more mods and have more stable game, and I don't suggest HD DLC either, it's not worth it.

The armor look cool, I think is because look smaller in the picture, in my head is for infiltration and sabotage of enemy bases. Project Shadow, Enclave special project to develop a smaller PA for infiltration and sabotage. If the Enclave operative is discover, the order is to inflict maximum damage to the enemy base. If escape is not possible the operative should activate self destruction of the unit, to avoid the unit fall in enemy hands. The self destruct can not be disable. And that is my head cannon

But there are still some serious fps drops there and there, so I tend to believe culprit is still there, but deleting 500+ mod made game just more stable and taken weight of from problem, but real problem is still there, that's what I hope at least.

It's not really a fix for your problem, I mean it is, but not really, but since you are on PC staying at next gen is bad decision, I would suggest downgrading your game.

The Nuka Collector Workshop one has a a lot more content to it available, so if you're going for one, go for that one.
The mod lets you craft the outfits at the Chemistry Station for no cost. They don't take up any armor slots but also provide no benefit, weigh nothing, and have 0 value.
There are pants, boots, vests, bags, boots, and socks that you can wear separately or together.
Things will clip. There's no way around it that I know. Make sure whatever you're wearing underneath is tight. I tested with the vault suit primarily.
As far as I know, this is the only mod like this. It actually brings some clothing choices to your character so you can mix and match.

I'm ba2 packing every loose file mod I can 💀 I don't know how to fix this mess ngl, it's become far more stable when I closed hair and face mods, and some hairs and face mods are replacing npcs faces, etc, (obviously) I'm thinking maybe they are forcing my vram limit, because that fps drop happens when I walk, happens when the game is loading something then? dds files are basic loose texture files, like this, packing these are easy, I did before, or modding them, problem starts with complicated files 😄

Is there a mod that has weather follow the player? I’m a fan of the True Storms mod and the rainy weather, but when I fast travel it is always changing the weather me. I’d prefer it to follow the player so I can enjoy the full cycle of the weather patterns.

Hell yeah dude! I think it's been ported to xbox, if not just the animations. The anims are too long for my taste though 😅 but they are pretty siiiiick.

It really depends... Since the bug occurs when npc records are altered/edited, I'm not sure if that also includes the npc item level lists.
I would think no unless the weapon itself alters any npc record directly, which is highly unlikely.

You have weapons with short animations already, you don't need more basic guns, we need more guns like this

I would think so, but don't quote me on that. I'd suggest testing it out if you're unsure. I currently have mods that cause the stuttering but choose to play as they occur infrequently and it's hard to avoid mods that don't edit NPCs, at least for my preferred LO.
It's really an issue with NG update so I'll hold off until Beth decides to fix it.
Don't know when that'll happen but mods just dropped for Starfield so that'll keep me busy for awhile 😅

Is anyone else having issues building large settlements since the next gen update? I like building really big settlements, and never had any issues, other than occasional slight framerate drops, before the update. Since the update it seems like as soon as I pass vanilla limit I get texture glitches, and if I continue to build ctd's. (Series X)
Hi I'm making a companion mod in creation kit for fallout 4 and I could really use some help as no matter what dialog I code for the npc they never say anything or enter cutscene/dialog mode. The companion is a clone of codsworth that I'm modifying as my companion is a Mr Gutsy so I thought it'd be a good starting point. I've been watching Kris Takahashi's mod skool video but there's a big cut in the middle where his recording cut out and it's right before he sets up dialog etc so it could be that I missed a step there

Hey all, I had a mod that created new settlement items. I placed a new bobblehead stand and then one bobblehead. I deactivated the mod, then later realized the one bobblehead I placed on it was still floating in the air. I’ve tried ‘place anywhere’ manipulations and adding back the bobblehead stand. I tried removing (make invisible) it with the place anywhere and then creating a new one with the cheat terminal didn’t work, as the game thinks this item was already acquired. Is there a mod that will allow me to delete in game objects and then redistribute them into the world?
You never should disable or uninstall mods while you still have the items in the game like that, go back older save you don't have mod installed if you want problem fixed, or read the mod page or ask author how you can uninstall (there are some instruactions mostly) then uninsall properly.
Do you know of a mod that can delete/remove objects and then add them back into the world?

i have an issue with various enemies like dogs, ghouls, and super mutants wont attack me but i cant figure out why. according to cheat terminal all the factions have me listed as enemy other then the main 4. its probably one of the various mods i have but every mod i have tried to remove or added a comment on nexus i geta reply saying its not that mod causing it. i have some mods that add in new character like dalek ,cybermen, super mutant, fnaf. but i honestly idk what would cause the issue. any help or guidance would be appreciated.

Hello I am new to the fallout 4 game this is my first play through and ran into a infamous bug that a lot of people know the taking point sunshine tidings co-op bug which is cleared but doesn't say it's cleared I followed a lot of steps to fix this none that has worked I'm on xbox so I can’t put in commands to skip over it so I downloaded a mod called holotape of quest-fixing and don't see a bypass for the quest I apologize if it's in the list and I don't see it I have BPPV which causes me to have very big spurts of dizziness and it's made it difficult to read very long paragraphs because words start getting blurry
Try cheat terminal, it have a quest section, enter and is a list of quest categories look your quest in that categories and apply the fix.

Get out of the game and navigate to your game folder. See if the Creations manifest folder is there. Rename the folder to Creations_backup. Restart the game and see if you can access
If not rename the Creations folder back to original name.

Hi. Your Beth.net PC port, Helipads from Hapless, I believe has corrupt server side data or files. It causes the in game mod manager to force exit consistently, when browsing to its details, despite other mods (eg your Helipads with Hazards port) not doing this.
I haven't tested on other platforms but it may also be an issue on other platforms.

It would work if you go light on mods, I have smilar system and can say lots of loose files and mods adding loose files (like hair textures, etc) to NPC's, like NPC replacer mods can cause a lot of stutter, I'm currently trying to have stable mod list as well, so if you go light you should be fine. But the game is not well-optimized, so don't wait smooth performance even without mods anyways.
My suggestions are: downgrade your game, install all required mods like F4SE, Ba2 backported support, etc. Don't use 4k mods at all, use 2k and 1k, try to use ba2 mods, if mod is not ba2 then conver textures (only textures) by yourself, etc.
Depends the mods you will install, if you install 4k or 8k mods, a lot of mods with loose files, etc, yeah sure, and some mods can cause stutter, fps problems, etc, regardless of specs, etc, as well.

I’m trying to take the cheapest route possible for maximum output on building a pc. It seems the threshold is around $1200-1400. I just want to be able to mod with it, and play games like the new Gears and Silent Hill to their full potential when they release.

and fallout 4 is as far I know more CPU intensive rather than GPU
so if you really really only want to focus on fallout 4 (which is bad idea in my opinion) you should get better CPU and less better GPU

Should I go for vivid weathers or true storms for a realism/survival modlist?
That’s preference. True Storms offers more intense weather effects and overhauls thunder and rain sfx. Vivid Weather offers a robust atmosphere more for when it is sunny out.
It would be cool if we could use them together.
Keep in mind that True Storms also adds dust storms. There’s another mod to turn that off if you don’t like it.
True Storms also adds feral ghoul attacks on settlements during rad storms, which can be adjusted or turned off with a holotape.

You can do a bit of both until you find your own flow. I usually, add mods when I find something about the game that needs changing. Adding mods during gameplay is not advised, but this gives me the chance to put builds I enjoy together for a new play through in the event something breaks the game and I have to start over.
Build order is important, that takes a bit of homework to get the hang of and understand. Not every build order is the same, so look at build order templates as more of a guide. Some mods are important to go first (top) and some last (bottom). However, if you have two mods that change one item, but prefer a certain change one mod gives over its counter part, place the one with the change you want most below the other. It’s like it overwrites it when it loads in after.
Anyone can tell me where can I see the keywords added in each DLC? For example, the list of all new keywords added in Automatron, so that I can apply it to random robot in the wilds so I can modify it with the Robot Workbench.
In CK go to keywords and sort by FormID
First two digits correspond to which DLC it is.
The specific digits will depend on your load order, what DLC you have, and whether you are on Next Gen vs downgraded to Last Gen.

I know I'm late, but I'm seeing the message in LOOT right now, so is it assumed that these types of mods are not safe to use at the moment? At least until Bethesda releases a new patch again? (which I'm not sure they do either)
I'm not sure if the PC community has found a work around yet. On Xbox the thing to do is to avoid faction and face overhauls like the ones that alter faces to look 'pretty' or add more faces to the default faces in factions. Generally you'll see more of an impact when using those than itteh bitteh onesies since the overhauls are distributed across all portions of the game. Use best judgement when downloading.

Anyone here knows any mod fixing Dogmeat keeps wandering around player's feet in interiors, like buildings, etc? I tried mods like Dogmeat follows behind, but non works it seems, Dogmeat still follows me very closely when we are inside of buildings, etc, and keeps coming right in front of my crosshair, etc.

Unfortunately that requires external scripts and models. That can’t be done on PlayStation.
I just came up with a mod idea, I don't know if it already exists. The idea is the ability to create your own faction, One that can infiltrate the institute for the main story progression without help from the other 3 factions. It would make the Minutemen destroyable like the other 3 factions, And allow the player to either team up and share aspects from any of the 4 factions or destroy all 4 and take parts from them. For example. Do you want to be like the Minutemen but have Brotherhood gear and Institute-level tech without Preston nagging you about another settlement without a handful of mods. Now you can just team up or destroy and take the things you want from other factions via a custom set of quests.
New quests can be though. Team 3lritech created Factories of the Commonwealth and the project lead 3lric has a number of mods for PlayStation. He’s a PlayStation modder.

I want to create a mod for Fallout 4 that has a great deal of complicated functionality. I'm a pure noob, but I can learn stuff on my own. I just need a high-level overview for where I can begin. Any help would be appreciated.
I want to help Fallout 4 be a language-learning tool. My game will be set to Spanish. There are a few things I want to do (in descending order of importance, probably ascending order in difficulty).
I want to be able to pause and still see the dialogue without it being blurred.
I want to be able to press a button (perhaps "l') while paused to see the original English.
I want to be able to hover over any Spanish word with my mouse and get a Spanish-english dictionary definition, probably from an installed Spanish-english dictionary.
I'm aware that this is a lot, but I have all summer. I just need advice on how to get started. This isn't a mod request. I want to do it myself. I've installed the creation kit, but what other tools will I need? That's sort of what I mean by general overview, not how to do specific things, but what tools come to people's minds when they hear about my project.

Tall order but you’re going to need more than the CK to pull something like this off.
You will need a Flash Decompiler and Adobe Flash CS6 Pro OR Adobe Animate.
Once you have everything setup and a Flash project you can open in CS6/Animate, you’ll want to create a mouse rollover listener over the Subtitles_mc (it’s in the HUDMenu.swf). Then using a dictionary (or hashmap or a JSON - you decide), you’ll be able to perform the translation via rollover.
For the pause menu and pressing a key to switch languages… you might be able to ram that into the HUDMenu as well. However, I’m not 100% certain HUDMenu will respond because at this point, Main Menu now has focus. And AFAIK, you can’t forward data between Menus. The only solution here may be to use F4SE.
For setting up F4SE, I would visit their GitHub and discord server so you may get further setup assistance.
Another hurdle you’ll face is Subtitles_mc is a textfield - a single textfield. So you’ll need to program a parser that separates each word into its own textfield in order to get an individual rollover listener attached. You could try calculating and pinpointing the mouse pointer and try translating whatever word the mouse is pointing at but that approach may be just as challenging.

If I was just doing the first two (unblurred pause, button to see original), what tools will I need? The flash stuff is only for the hover-translation?

The blur is most likely a standalone Flash file or it’s baked within the PauseMenu.swf. Either way, it would be wise to get the Flash decompiler and CS6/Animate setup.
If the blur is standalone, you cannot just delete the file - you’ll crash the game when the engine tries to apply it. You’ll need to replace the file w an identical file - just w the blur effect removed.
If the blur is baked into another SWF (ie PauseMenu), you need to go in and surgically replace it and output a new PauseMenu.swf (or whichever SWF houses the blur).

I'm having trouble finding which setting is responsible for blur. I don't see a PauseMenu.swf within interface.ba2, just a HUDMenu.swf. Within HUDmenu, I don't see anything clearly responsible for blur.
Forget blur, I actually am having trouble finding the pause menu at all. I can see almost every other menu within swf files in interface.ba2, but I don't see the pause menu.
PauseMenu may just be a “mode” tucked within MainMenu.

There is no way to implement anything like Cheat terminal on PlayStation. It is fully scripted with new scripts. Those are the closest you're going to get that don't mess with quests or default scripting that could potentially derp things for other PlayStation mods.

I'm trying now to make subtitles visible while paused. I've successfully removed the blur effect from the pause menu and packaged it as an esp file which works. I see that HUDmenu.wf and MAINmenu.swf (which seems to include the pause menu) are two separate files. Does this mean that I need to work with F4SE? If the two menus can't exchange information? Any advice on how to proceed?
Go for it! I'm sure players will be thrilled. We tried to convince Tim-timman to try something since he knows how to trick the system. Most of what he was doing involved hex editing the plugin though and he couldn't get it to load into the CK to upload to bethesda.net.

I’m currently playing on PS5, but I’m able to load the PS4 version if I make room on my SSD. Does anyone know if the PS4 mods are cross compatible with the PS5. It looks like the majority of available mods are designated for the PS4.
I can of course just keep my modded versions on a PS4 save, but I wanted to be sure that was my only option before either Nuking some of the other games I’ve loaded or investing in an extra SDD for the expansion slot.

Yes. The source of the mod isn't what matters. It's how compatible the mods are with each other. You can have two mods just from Bethesda.net that don't play well with each other. Any problems and conflicts that arise from compatibility issues can be resolved if you have modding skills. A lot of people don't.

Hey all. I'm looking for a survival fast travel mod on PS4/5. I currently have one that allows you to travel to settlements, but the problem is it doesn't recognize any player homes except Home Plate, doesn't recognize DLC settlements, and it actually doesn't work for the vanilla settlement Somerville Place. I think I want a mod that allows fast travel to anywhere, and I'll just set a binding vow on myself that I'll only travel to settlements and homes. Needs to be on Playstation. Idk why this is so hard to find with a mod search

i got a problem im doing a relativly simple challange run of fallout 4 where basically i never get to low health and as an indication i use the tooltip for that to regulary check that i still have never had low health and well i curently at one quest location and in the safe where i enterd the building the low health warning still apeard and i i clear the building i suddenly dont get that anymore even i didnt take any damage during the combat it also disables if i hack a terminal or pick a lock now is that a new glitch ?

@ghostsektor5 I had a problem with "go west"(NM) It is a work in progress and didn't load properly. Building incomplete and nothing touched the ground. I am currently trying to get my mods to play nice with each other but still have crashes in and around C I T and other heavy areas in Boston. I have no idea what I'm doing.
@ghostsektor5 Surely there is a formula for load orders but no one wants to give it up. I did find a short that was read only that helped alot, read it deleted it and then wanted to read again but it's been taken down (less than 24hrs later)

Xbox - Download (Limit Reached) ? I have 485.91 MB of free space left; despite this, Fallout 4 is saying I do not have enough free space for a 796.35 KB mod? Does anyone know what the issue is?

Does anyone know how the sorting of crafting recipes within the workstations is determined?
For example, if I have two mods that each add one recipe to the cooking station, and Recipe 1 shows up at the bottom of the recipe list, and Recipe 2 shows up in the middle of the list, what determines those placements?

There’s a formlist for some crafting menus and it is also by priority on the COBJ . Priority 0 will go with priority 0, usually at the end of that priority tier.
If I’m not mistaken, the formlist will have priority and then everything else is added.
If the mod uses priority 10, it will go after anything with priority 10, even if priority 10 is in the middle of the list (if I’m not mistaken). You can do some more testing on your end and get a feel for the behavior.

In order for the Pip-boy tab to appear, the karma mod requires a different F4SE framework mod. The only way to get custom tabs into the Pip-boy and work on Xbox is to manually hack the UI system.

I'm trying to figure out how junk items are distinguished in FO4. Checking Fallout4.esm, it seems all junk items are classed as misc items. Since they're mixed in with quest items and general non junk items, I need to find a way to systematically distinguish which are junk. Are miscellaneous items which have components a good indicator for junk items, or is there a better way to gather these? Ideally I would just include a list of names and their hex code in my program, but I can't imagine that would be legally kosher. Any insight is appreciated.

Yes that is already implemented in Workshop Access Monitor:
To help reduce your micromanagment use a central weapon stash for settler returns & upgrades using access activators which can be crafted (furniture/containers) at each workshop. If one is present, settlers will use the central stash rather than the workshop to return and upgrade weapons when commanded. This means you can still manage upgrades when access to the workshop is blocked.

If you’re using a texture mod that updates water, that might be derping the texture if you’re on series x.

Unsure about retex for creatures. Invoker Gray has a few pets, but you’ll need to check if they’re for PS. There are companion face mods created prior to the CK having mandatory facegen files created automatically (look for dates prior to 2017).

From what I recall, Misc Items that have components are classed as Junk. There may be some exceptions, so test, of course. When I made Not Junk - BoS Holotapes & Synth Components (https://mods.bethesda.net/en/fallout4/mod-detail/4093877), I just removed their components and they were no longer classed as Junk.
(same for Junk is Junk (https://mods.bethesda.net/en/fallout4/mod-detail/4093878) - I just added components to existing Misc items, and they became classed as Junk)

Yep. You can scrap them while they're still living to get around the pesky business of them not being dead. It's hilarious to just turn on the workshop on Spectacle Island and instead of fighting the mirelurk queen, just scrap it.

As I can't find the docs for the creation kit I was hoping someone here could help and explain to me how the Duplicate and Rename window works. I'm guessing Count is how many dupes I want to make of the item, Prefix and Suffix is to give the item I'm duplicating a prefix or suffix of my choosing, Search and Replace I assume does what it says on the tin but I have no idea what # Digits is. Can anyone help?

The thing is it completely replaces your Fallout 4 installation. I am installing it on a virtual machine to isolate it from my main installation and saves; hopefully this will work!
Yeah, otherwise the only way to go back to original FO4 is to uninstall the mod and the game, and reinstall.
I do have my entire mods folder backed up, but it is a huge hassle to reinstall the game, downgrade it, and copy my mods back over!

Yesterday my load order was working fine (I use M02 to launch the game) but I come back today and the game is unplayable and unbearably laggy, so I loaded up a save with no mods enabled and the same results occur.
This does not just apply to fallout 4, this applies to every game in my library, is there a fix to this? (I’ve tried most suggestions but nothing seems to work properly, let alone do anything.)
