Yep. You can only sustain a high block (in pve) for 1.5 seconds. After that it drops to low. In PvP it is 3 seconds. If a mob (or arena opponent) hits your high block shield, then the primary enchantment will be inflicted But if they hit you in low block, only a secondary enchantment will count. If you hit a high block with a manual attack, you will be stunned. But hitting a low block will not stun you

Practice with Heinrich or Staki. So much of the combat in this game is timing. It’s not a brute hack n slash like Skyrim or other ES games.

I think the biggest issue is the "get 2 combos of 4 hits" challenges and how it, unlike everything else isn't given a tutorial and doesn't need to be used until several hours to months later, making it harder to figure out. I'll give waiting a few seconds after the opponent blocks a shot, then.

It takes practice, for sure. Once you get the hang of timing your own blocks and swings, you’ll progress much more quickly

The game mechanics and the timing are what make the Arena so fun - outside of the lag you'll get playing against folks on the other side of the planet. If Bethesda had put a little work into solidifying the Arena experience, this game would have exploded with players. As it is, there aren't enough active players to support regional servers/leaderboards, so it's mostly just folks who really dig the game who are still playing.

It would have been nice to get some frank engagement from the devs or whoever about the punishing RNG. As much as I love going 0-2000 (at least) on regular enchants, 0-10 on enchantable imbuement rings (580 sigils down the toilet today, about the same last week and the week prior, and many times before that), 0-100 enchanting imbuement weapons (innumerable sigils down the toilet)... where was I going with that? Did I say I love that?! I must, because I keep doing it.
What we know about the RNG we got from some early tech-savvy folks who plundered game files and leaked it to the community. While much of that has been proven at least mostly correct through trial and error by the community at large, that doesn't change the fact that it stinks on ice.

RNG was much less punishing in an early days but then I had a problem even with dragon bones. Now I have a whole lot of FB opals, Arentines and so on but nothing to spend them on.

I’m reminded of how bad the RNG on Necks is today. Forget the odds of actually getting beneficial perks. Layer on the odds of getting “crit health” secondaries, of which there are four. So many potentially great necks ruined.

Who wants to spend 60 sigils for a 2% chance (or less, really) of a usable item?

Walls. Upgrade/downgrade your walls. If I remember right all you need is cash and copper. Btw- make sure all of your shops are in or near your front gate so you and your guildmates don’t have to go hunting for them

If you have any houses up front, trash them and move your shops.

Ideally you want at least one smith right in front of you, and your two enchanters on two of the other corners. Alchemists next, then your other smith, with your Artisan next.

If you have to move stuff, do it before they are level ten!

+condition secondaries are active no matter what, the primary enchant will only fire off if contact is made while in high block, and ravage secondaries will fire off any time contact is made

I’ve spent hundreds of dollars on Blades over the last 3 years and have had multiple characters , it’s a money maker and a first for this kind of game on Mobile. It’s insane to abandon it , I’m very frustrated that this game has fell by the wayside when so much more could have been done and we get no answers or plans , the game is not even easy to find on Bethesda’s website anymore. It needs bug fixes badly, and as new mobile updates come out the bugs will get worse. There are several areas in the game feel unfinished. The abyss is one of those, you go all the way to the bottom and it just “ends” no reward, no chest, no dialogue ,not even a nice statue for completion, very disappointing. The frostbite crit bug is an exploit used in the arena far to often, and needs fixed to be more fair. We need a storage chest and museum for our stuff instead of constantly sifting through it in our inventory cluttering our inventory space up. Also 5 loadouts are not enough, this can be fixed by making loadouts as a separate scrolling menu, and the loadouts are currently very buggy often having to reinstall the game to fix corrupted loadouts that don’t delete, and cone back in and merge with your new saved loadouts each time you restart the game, very aggravating. From someone who has spent a lot of money on this game , the lack of development or care to update and fix bugs/ known issues is very troubling and I find a shame that development just quit entirely.

I imagine there are some good devs that report up to their management, but they key stakeholders do not see the value in this game. That's why I firmly believe it's up to this community to reach out to those key stakeholders, and convince them that there is so much more money to be made from this game. They just need to put a little effort in it.

You know all those support tickets where they tell us that "we'll submit this to the devs but we won't get back to you to tell you anything"

The Online mode of PvP, of the Arena, is the spearhead of this game, and it is precisely the Arena that is making Blades long-lived.
The various manual attack techniques, strategies, spells, abilities, and gear offer a unique experience on Android that Castles is unlikely to achieve.
Castles will be a flop because it will never match the complexity, fun, longevity and loyal community.
Blades is not an easy game, which is precisely why it appeals to its most active players.
Unfortunately, this time Bethesda is wasting time and losing money with Castles.
It would have been better to improve Blades' Arena and implement usable items (even for a fee if they are abandoning this game for this reason).
In any case, Blades will continue, even if there are no changes from the developers.
Because it is and will be the best Elder Scrolls online PvP title on the Android platform.

The problem with offline mode is the game can’t update itself or update character progress to Bethesda’s servers or help you if you run into problems, because of the rotating store and sigil shop this would be hard to do and frustrating for the player also because it’s not a stationary type game

PvP isn't dead at higher levels. It's just that all the really good players have over 1500 trophies at this point of the season, so you won't get as much of a challenge in the lower Arenas. Most. Not trying to diss anyone lower than that, just saying that up there it's a whole different ball game. Super hard in Heroes Hall right now, I love it

I realize that blades attracts perhaps a limited audience and I’m okay with that. I just want the bugs fixed and some user friendly enhancements and the sigil shop items returned that used to be there that made the game interesting . Not a lot to ask from a company that has a loyal fan base and active community that we have in blades.

Last month I created an Alt and instead realized how many players are starting to play now.
Even though Blades was launched many years ago, precisely because it is part of the Elder Scrolls it will attract players to this title for many more years. Then yes, the game itself then screens out who can sustain its complexity and who instead ragequits after the first defeats in the arena or even before. Castles will likely entice players to try it, but it will definitely be easier and less stressful than Blades. This might seem great for a developer, but it is precisely the complexity and stress that Blades gives that gives buckets of endorphins with every hard-earned improvement, with every win snatched from the enemy. These are qualities that can maintain a long-lasting game, competitiveness, not easy playability.

Now she's in Dragonwood and still like #300. So at least 300 people with a pretty respectable trophy count

I also created Sithis, my alt, to get that artifact, but still nothing. I kept my character at lvl28 and opened several legendary, Elder and gold chests twice, but I had no luck finding her. But this is in a month of life. I think I'll start again with another Alt with the same name every month until I find her.😂 But it's worth it, a build with 5PDOC is devastating.🤩

The TOP100 is just a matter of dedication and consistency in improving manual combat and gear, the more you play the more stable you will remain in the high ranking.

@rough shadow Sithis has only found Mehrune at the moment, it's a very rare artifact but for the ebony mail I would gladly start the character from 0 again. In a month starting from 0 you collect several gold chests and also some Elders and Legendaries. Once opened, however, if you don't find what you wanted, it takes a long time to get as many chests. I might as well start over and make an alt a month until I find that artifact. In the end I like the main story, so it's not hard to start over.

It would be, I’m just wondering how that could work though as jobs get replaced by new jobs after you complete them and if the game engine could randomly generate those on its own rather than being connected via internet. I can totally see abyss working just fine without it though and maybe dosent even need internet to randomly generate those levels.

You would want/ need some internet connectivity at some point however to update the sigil and store shop and to purchase if wanted.

Before I got decent internet my biggest problem in the abyss was losing connection to the internet and loosing all progress so it was a pain.

And that’s something that should be fixed also….if you loose connection you shouldn’t loose progress in the abyss.

Dagon. What are you basing this on? It seems too wide? Are there any examples that break the 12 levels up/down rule, or say two tiers up/down?

If it’s two tiers (consistent with the end game parameters because you can get level 8 artifacts) it would be a level 44 cutoff. Low end would be level 18 for Ebony Mail. This is consistent with say the Collector (level 14) and my level 15 alt - the artifacts are all within 1 tier either side of the current one (Saviors hide, bloodthirst, namira, pandemonium). But maybe spellbane are chrysamere are also accessible? Not sure.

A pdf I have and game experience.

As you have already wonderfully stated, 50 + or higher level toons are able to get artifacts no lower than tier 8. This implies that you should be able to get two tiers lower than you. However I have no evidence showing that you can get an artifact two tiers above you. I’ve only ever got an artifact one tier above so this could be wrong.

But the tier two below UNLESS it only applies when you are level 50 or above which I greatly doubt.

Interesting, me too in terms of above. Right, so two tiers below Ebony Mail is tier 4 - level 18.

I’m not expecting my level 15 toon to get EM, in other words, until I level up.

It would be hard to test, but I figure either a) you get super lucky and happen to get an artifact two tiers above you (highly unlikely as this is just speculation) or b) get all findable artifacts within 1 tier and then get an artifact. If it isn’t possible to get two tiers above you then I assume you’d just get the artifact bug.

However the rule of - 2 tiers seems to be relevant. This is corroborated by an artifact pdf I have. Let me send it to you

the artifact levels are also dependent on the chests they come out of. Legendary chests have a chance of giving you an artifact above your level I believe, while gold will give you below level artifacts.

Elder: 1%
Gold: 0.1%

These percentages are supposedly boosted during seasonal events.

Aye, in addition, I believe the actual levels are affected too. Like, you have a chance at getting an artifact higher than your current level if you open a legendary chest vs a gold chest, gold chests tend to give you gear that is below your level

Anyway, thanks.❤️ We both know that as the Blades community grows, is solid and continues to play despite no patch for two years and ten days, I believe that in the meantime thousands of Tickets have been sent without a concrete change in Blades from the Developers until now . They will have their reasons for finishing this project by not promoting and improving it, we have ours for continuing to play and advertise this beautiful game.

I also want to add that better rewards from chests for high level players , I’m level 67 and I still routinely get dwarven and elven legendary gear as rewards. These are items that I’ll never use or craft anything with, for people at our level it’s useless junk aside from gold, which we really don’t need at this point. Could we not increase the cap on items based on character level? More Daedric, dragonscale , dragonbone is really what we are looking for at our levels, and as @meager badge has said it would encourage more play and grinding for those.

Also the game seems to give more glorious gems at higher levels than grand gems, but you use more grand gems than glorious enchanting so that is out of balance

Going back to resist physical damage on critical health. OMG there’s a few players in the arena that must have 100% can not hardly kill them im beating them like a piñata trying to bring them down when I’m using a breaching weapon.

I don’t find RE very useful or effective in the arena not for a 2 hander, more mage on mage types or versa spell sword yes but 2 hand fighting is totally different as you well know and there are other ways of dealing with some of these as you mentioned that I feel are more efficient and quicker. Everyone has there own style and nothing is full proof and it has alot to do with how you play and what you are good at. I myself find RE not viable for my style and I don’t even need it for PVE anymore. RE has one major flaw and that’s the delay on casting it.

There is no reason potions need to be stacks of 50. Why not an unlimited stack, like materials? Scrolling through potions in between rounds is awful

Leaving 50 health potions, 50 stamina potions, 50 magicka potions, 50 potions for each elemental resistance (4x50), 50 aversions for each element (4x50) makes the inventory much cleaner and faster. 12 stacks.

I noticed the flaw with recovery strikes yesterday during a sigil event. If recovery strikes are used first in a series of quick strike abilities it works fine. But if it is used second in that series it does nothing at all most of the time.

That said… Ebony will only get you so far. If you are planning to go above 500 or so trophies, work on getting to L50 so you can unlock your full tree and also have access to top tier materials and enchants from L10 towers

Hi. Arena is so good. It is great to see the opponents from years past and anew. It would be so awesome to hear an announcement about Blades in any form. I liked the patch notes approach the first few years from updates. There has been some mystery updates the last year that have helped with crashing but no notes to my knowledge that went with an update for stability improvements with the events starting. I guess my observations might be conspiracy theory’s because there are no notes. I think someone, at least one individual or a team exists if summoned to work on the project due to someone created a mystery patch along with adding in the season changed without having to download the app again like it has been the first few years, at least on the iPhone. I am thrilled to continue to enjoy Blades. Just it would be nice to empty my wallet on something within Blades to support ongoing progress. I have a special place in my heart for unloading money into TES Blades but the options are exhausted without expansions to what already exists.

I would love to see more craft options in the artisan shops , especially for larger decorations as the options are few. This needs updated in light of the newer prettier town decorations that are availiable for gems. I would love to see a 12 hour day and night mode as well and can be a selectable option in settings as well.

If anyone is looking who can apply an update, these are my top 5 suggestions for improving Blades without breaking the balance that was discussed at the beginning of TES Blades history in the seminal patch notes: 1. An update for re-enchanting items would be a considerable improvement such as after an item is given an enchantment there is an option to reason with Sev the enchanter which he replies in sum., “sorry about that, I serve to please, everyone makes mistakes sometimes, I will try again after the enchantment cooldowns in ( ) days. 2. A small assignable hot list for potions so the long scrolling line is avoided. 3. One of the gates opens or adds some square footage to the town, which reveals more plots to put down decorations because there are too few spots for the decorations in the town, and it would be nice to place the items somewhere. 4. Abyss floor rewards line up with the town and character experience levels such as how mobs drop items in daily jobs/quests. 5. The event shop had several weapons and armors added in an update such as Golden Saints plate armor and Dark Seducer devine mail armor, bring back the all the original items that were updated in the patch notes into the event shop occasional rotation. While there are other things to consider, a personalizing experiences would be a nice improvement in my opinion using the existing inventory/gear system.

I prefer QS and PS, both at R1 so I can inflict ravages cheaply and frequently. Try not to get stunned so you don’t need RS or a dodge.

Resist Elements with 2 offensive spells, and sub in Ward (level 1) if facing a high mage

as you can see, this more or less puts us in a perpetual loop of going back and forth between discord and bethesda tickets

In the Sigil Shop there are many items at a disproportionate cost that should be eliminated, For example Pyrines at 275 sigils🤯😑... they are easily found in the game.
Instead of these, it would be better to sell the Divine Light Weapons elemental ravage stamina-magicka for 899 sigils.
These weapons, compared to the Versatile and Heavy weapons, are not present in the Sigil Shop and so the game is very unbalanced.

Almost to xp 99! My inventory for enchanting materials consists of 3500 glorious gems. Got 15 and 18 glorious in two arena elder chests today. I have 20 transcendent gems from arena tier rewards. And zero grand gems. There is no purpose in the majorly off set balance. I have submitted yearly feedback directly to the portal. While there is no reply stated it would be nice to ponder what if there was balance. How harmonious that would be.

Got a legendary chest from arena. Got 25 glorious gems. And also completed the Wrath of the Undying event for more glorious gems. Unfortunately there was a patch note a few years ago that mentions giving high level players more glorious gems. I am almost xp 99 which took about 4 years at the pace I am engaged with Blades. Unfortunately there is no need to keep getting glorious gems as only one is needed for a top level enchantment. I have over 3500 still climbing. It would be awesome to revise the patch and award high level individuals more grand and transcendent gems as the dedication to leveling has no purpose other than hurting the ratio into out of favor for the enchantment aspects. I have zero grand gems from drops or rewards. Well, you can buy grands, and TSGs and Grands can be had as abyss rewards as about the same rate as glorious. I am also way heavy on glorious though. Seeing as how grands are used at 4x, glorious at 2x and TSGs at 1x, it’d be nice if the drop ratio approximated that as well.

Also, it’d be nice if I stopped getting lessers and commons and exceptionals … especially at level 100

I have not gotten grand gems for abyss rewards but maybe one time in 100 runs. Unfortunately getting past xp 98+ the glorious gems are overwhelmingly abundant. There are ways to get other gems but it would be great to not be punished for leveling up with the off set ratio that appears to be 90% glorious drop rate with no chance for grands in elder and legendary chests.

I don’t really know…in any event, it just makes the whole concept of an international leaderboard a joke and a half. And they’ve strangled the game so much that the odds of us getting enough players regionally are slim to none, with Slim well on his way out of town.

So play arena for fun, and when the connection sucks, walk away.

And let the ones who get free wins just enjoy their spots on the leaderboard… some day they’ll actually have to earn something and we’ll see how that goes for them.

@solar haven and I were just chatting and I was thinking of what this game means to me. Is it fun and challenging? Yes. Is it frustrating that they aren't doing improvements? Yes. However, I was totally isolated with my wife and son during COVID and Blades kept me engaged and gave me a much needed distraction. I sure wish I had joined a guild then as that would have been even better. I probably played the main quest 6-8 times with different toons and I really learned most of the basics from the YouTube videos that @jaunty willow made. I realize now it was my way of getting away from all of the COVID "stuff" and adapting to being a remote worker after 25+ years of working in an office. I believe it’s mostly correct as well. The ping number reflects connection to home network + relay server. It does NOT reflect connection of relay server to main server.

I’ve corroborated this with other gaming communities (well, MOH), as apparently it’s the same process for most games of this type.

I don’t personally think there is any prioritisation on a regional basis, it’s just about the specific connection. In the same way that you guys in NA can list players you rarely host, us EU players can list players in NA that we rarely host.

But also the way it connects two individuals is not a consistent formula just based on connection and location, because even for the players who we rarely host, there is the odd match here and there that we do.

I think the NA players may find things a bit tougher because there is less of you (? I’m guessing). On average more of your matches are over a greater distance. Also you might have more matches that are unplayable - Eastern US to Russia might be a common match up but it’s a crazy distance.

I play through multiple regional servers via VPN in the USA. While none of us can say there is prioritization on Aunt Beth’s part. Geography presupposes prioritization.

I can literally see the difference in connection and opponents matched in Oregon, vs. Alaska, vs. Wyoming, vs. Kentucky, vs. NY. It’s amazing the difference in servers.

I asked for abyss chests that could offer a small chance for artifacts something different from the norm a year ago to make abyss more interesting. Have a rare secret room with an abyss chest sometimes other than the repetive boring vanilla levels over and over again

They could have made the abyss a wonderful rng endless dungeon if they had put more effort into it

And they don’t even listen to development ideas outside of their company which is crazy and short sighted. You HAVE to listen to your players if you want to succeed

No it’s entirely 1v1.

Its very interactive and balanced imo. Paying doesn’t get you as far as early content creators have made people believe and grinding sigils from sigil events is the best way to get end game gear for free

There’s not much going around with guilds. Just join a guild and their discord and hang out and talk about the game or life.

Your cups in arena do contribute to your guild’s rank however. As long as your guild is in the top 100 you’ll receive monthly guild rewards at the beginning of the next season

You can easily play this game for free. You will have to put some time and effort in to get geared up and level up far enough to truly enjoy the PvP part tho.

Spending money really won’t help much, other than letting you speed up your progress… if you spend strategically

And one thing to beware of…. The RNG is BRUTAL. Like mind-numbingly cruel. Be prepared to see lots of disappointment when it comes to creating gear.

I'm not against spending when it's done for enjoyment. It's when games try and force it after hooking you in that it turns me off. When you're spending for random lootboxes and stuff and don't know what you're getting is where I draw the line. But if f2p is fine then that's OK by me.

Nope. There are many ways to grind. If you are trying to just enjoy the PvE aspect, take your time and play whenever. If you are in a hurry to get to meaningful PvP, there are some shortcuts you can take (essentially skipping the main quests and power leveling with the abyss).

Then by all means, play at your own pace and enjoy it. You’ll get “challenges” that will refresh 1-4 hours after you completed or cancelled the last one, good for a small amount of green gems or cash, one daily job for a few extra gems that will refresh daily, and one weekly job. But none of them are worth very much if you skip them.

A lot of that problem could be solved if the money you give your shops to brew potions and temper gear or repair and enchant items actually went into their availiable gold on hand. Yeah that would be great, but at the same time they wouldn’t allow that because the player would have an easier means of gaining gold and that might you know keep them from spending money

In which higher level players can gain gold and have plenty of it and not really even need it anymore but new players are always short of it and copper , encouraging them to buy those imperial packs of gold and building supplies and that may be another reason why new players quit so fast

If all of us got together with Bethesda we could make a killer enjoyable highly profitable game out of this , that encourages new players to keep playing and spending
