Bethesda needs to address arena servers.
US players are almost always at a disadvantage against European, Russian, or Asian players.
This has been ignored too long.
I have absolutely had it.
I've sent the results of data collected from seasons 3-22 to Bethesda through feedback and received no reply. I've sent it to CVH as well.
Bethesda needs to own up to this, otherwise no US player will have any incentive to keep playing and just walk away from the game

I have heard (but not confirmed) that the primary Arena server is located in Italy, and all other players connect via a "relay" server.

Results matter. And the results show that EU and points east consistently outperform US players at the highest level. Either US players just stink at this game or something else is going on.

And that trend is growing. Fewer US players as a percentage of the whole are gaining top 100 over the last 4 seasons.

Until Bethesda or it’s representatives explain to us how arena servers work, all we have to go on are results and anecdotal evidence.

Many US players/chatrooms are unfortunately kinda toxic and spread lies and rumors about the game, making the game more difficult than it is. It's easy to see there are many different reasons people play or do not. I took a break for my own reasons. If I wanted to put my character and my alt on the leaderboard then I would, and that would be considered 2 NA players on the leaderboard? I'm not taking a break due to connection issues, and me climbing with multiple characters would simply make more newer players stop playing. Dozens of players have said this is a reason before already as they stopped playing. It's just a fact, as some players wished to have more PVE content so they quit because the game is mainly based on PVP. It would be better to have stronger connections for everyone though since we all have these effects sometimes

The best way to settle rumors or falsehoods or just misunderstandings about game /arena mechanics is for Bethesda to answer directly.

Unless/until we get some straight answers from the horse's mouth, I am not going to keep encouraging players to bang their head against the lag wall that is most definitely there for US players.
And I'm done feeding cups to European/Russian players. I fought Fast Denny 10 times yesterday. I saw ping under 100 ONCE... and it was still 80.

If "dozens" of players are bailing because they can't compete with legit Alts, they need to check themselves.

I haven't heard a lot about this from the developers. It seems to be something that a lot of players have been concerned about. I once wrote to the devs about it myself but I became convinced that EU and Russian players get the same lag sometimes. But we've all seen warnings in our guild chats, "so and so is pushing their alt up. Time to take a break from the game." I find the connections to have slight differences in timings but overall stable

The differences are small, but impactful, especially when playing for a top slot
If I am delayed by high ping...
At the start of the match, there will be a delay before i can access abilities and spells. Even medium good players can take advantage of this to get free shots in before I have a chance to even do anything
There is also a delay in when i am seeing what my oppo is doing - that will cause me to miss high blocking bashes or attacks - they land before i even know they are coming
It will also delay me seeing shields drop/raise, leading to inadvertent stuns. The risk of getting stunned will cause me to be less aggressive which multiplies the advantage for the other player
It snowballs from there.
From the data gathered, and from my experience in this game, leads me to believe that the advantage goes to European or Russian players far more often than it goes to US players.
And that is what Bethesda should address.
They need to prove me wrong

I kept track of every match I played on JIB last season. I had 68% of my matches Orange 100+ ping. That is not including matches that were “in the green” but still had very noticeable lag, for whatever reason.

That is not acceptable. I agree with @prisma forum that Bethesda clarification of the server system, or proof that everyone everywhere has game affecting, poor ping in 65-70% of their matches is long past overdue.

If someone collected transparent stats wants to claim their is a difference across contenders’ geographical location then they have evidence, not a guess what might be going on with arena engagement. As someone who has been in top 10, one of the few from NA, I get 100+ arena ping majority of the time doing top 10 matches, claims seem legit to me. Would be nice to see more NA opponents and know how the arena servers work simply to understand and engage deeper into the realm of Blades. Love the international TES: Blades. ❤️

Honestly, I love that we CAN play against people on the other side of the planet. That's one of the coolest aspects of the game. But I am going to need assurance that the playing field is level.
I waited until I had lots of data to draw upon... 19 seasons worth of arena results.

I think there is this misconception that Bethesda can somehow magically make lag disappear for everyone when that won’t happen in this day and age. One of the parties is going to lag, it’s just a matter of making hosting more balanced.

If I fight someone and they host me 9 times out of 10 then that’s odd. It’s also odd if I host someone 9 times out of 10. If hosting was more balanced I think people would complain less (probably not but it’s worth a shot)

Just from watching Nareal who is by far the longest running Arena Grand Champion and arguably the most experienced player in the game, he almost 100% of the time has orange ping even against other players in Russia where he lives. Orange ping seems more abundant there based on this observation. Also orange ping doesn't determine lag or who is hosting. Orange ping is usually just as playable as green ping until it gets to red, unless it's different for different devices. You can play as a NA player vs a NA player and have green ping sometimes and both players are lagging. I can swing twice into quickstrikes or recovery strikes vs some players but get stunned just swinging once at others and they both immediately block. If you are getting up into the top 50, 20, 10 then you already know how to adjust for lagging and it comes down to technique. Top players like the true Grand Champ I mentioned know their opponents and are playing chess with you. They know your moves, when you use them, how to counter them, how to make you use the moves they want you and for what reasons. Test your reaction times, know what timings to use, can take massive damage and then adjust mid round. These are the real differences that make a player a Grand Champ vs others in past arena seasons as the game has been played.

True the chess game but that does not eliminate having red ping vs outside of NA majority of the time. If I host (1:10 rare) to some of the past champs they are not nearly as nice, not all but some, some are really humble, but some not so humble blame high ping high lag related issues. Really exposes technique, hiding behind lag. Take out the lag and looks like dancing with one’s self rather than adjusting. Simple balance of having equal opportunities given both sides have a strong connection would be refreshing.

I don’t buy it. I’ve played Nerael hundreds of times. When I have a good connection, I win more than I lose. But those times are maybe 2 in 10 when I fight him.

It should be 5 in ten.

Same for all European or Russian opponents. All I want is fifty/fifty. And that ain’t happening.

But I’m not trying to convince other players. Y’all believe what you want to believe. It’s up to Bethesda to spill the beans and give us some info.

So yeah some players depend on connections and gear and can only win when the connection is great, but don't realize that their opponent suffers lag too. I watched him for hours with Dagon, Dan, Tarry, and many other players so I've had more experience and communication with players outside of NA too I suppose to make me believe it goes in all directions

And maybe there are other factors. I’m west coast USA. I can fight Dagon ten times in a row and have high ping, but manageable lag. I can fight Joey or Ofton or Ghostwill or Dan or Jarsh and it’s all pretty predictable. But I fight Nerael, Hropter, Denny, Zehir and it all goes wonky.

Orange ping doesn't give bad connections on my side. I have several videos of having orange ping against Russian based players who are lagging against me. Ping doesn't determine lag until it goes above 300 into red from my experience and I've played quite a bit and recorded my matches

I told them I had done that already and elaborated on the issue
They responded again ( a different person this time) and said they'd pass it on to the developers

Just from my experience I sent the same ticket you are referring to now over a year ago. They responded very politely telling me the very same things. I followed up by giving then additional information with screenshots and accumulated evidence of disrupted connections explaining that it was a community issue and not one that only I was experiencing. I was informed that there was no way to resolve these issues. Different factors can interfere with servers such as weather for instance. Also that EU players have the same experiences and possibly worse than NA. I'm guessing you will hear the same thing again but good luck and hope it gets better for you.

I enjoy having more players in this game and people who play at all hours. No reason to kill off everyone or convince people to stop playing for bogus reasons. I would enjoy watching more videos from players. When we submitted our tickets for poor connections a year ago we included videos to support our claims. It would be nice if connections were more stable for everyone since anyone who plays has the same experience. After playing for a while now myself it's easy to see the difference between ping and lag and how they don't determine one another

I have total respect for you, your kindness, helpfulness, and kicking my behind several times in the arena. Nice interactions. On the topic of general arena connections, that ping and lag and connectivity play a major role for opponents, and yes major or minor lag can be overcome in some capacity with perseverance. I have a backlog of recordings of monthly high-profile matches on my once active Blades-themed YouTube channel. I can relate to uneven matchmaking connections, server-side, being an issue for everyone, I am advocating beyond myself. Inspiring to hear your interested in player Blades videos, makes me want to setup future multimedia posts once more.

I get the host low ping end of the server about 1/10 or 1/6 vs the typical top 50 not from the NA side of the world (a reference I am in NA). Furthermore, I don’t understand the reasoning when it would be green low ping then a rematch vs the same opponent (shortly after a match) goes 200-250 spiking up and down the next matchup back to back to back, several more matches where the third, fourth, etc., are red ping (rather than A/B/A/B/A/B compared to A/B/B/B/B hosting). That pattern could go both ways but majority of the time is not even, evenness is what I wonder could be a possibility for a resolution patch, equity, a bit more consistent evenness. I like the arena mode and 1st person perspective; is entertaining, immersive, and compeditive. Be simply nice to understand why back to back to back to back arena matches could be diffrent connections, vastly diffrent, lots of factors. Lag as a topic has been addressed before in an early Blade’s update patch note. So perhaps the arena lag might have a way to be revised, by someone who might be able to do something about addressing and helping the active and enthusiastic TES: Blades community. I would be so happy to read current patch notes too, there is a lack of communication the past more recent updates, which I don’t understand the vagueness from a top notch programming outlet, I am curious what update changes occur on a detailed level when updates are release from software designers.

Hi Lucas. Your sound correct. However the software backers have long title runs. Span years so I believe eventually their investment will come around glorious one day with revisions when they are ready. Otherwise nothings been revamped since around updates 1.5-1.11. But some simple things would be nice and ya I have a bunch of feedback officially submitted. And they did do exact things sometimes in the past including arena, daily jobs, and events. I got yesterday someone responding on an App Store review from the developer side. Might be small things but be insane if they never do anything. Long title runs. Some of the other channels on this server have designs that go back years and years with dedicated fans. 🤗

Blades is a great game. It's a lot of fun and convenient as a mobile game. Arena is the best part of the game in my opinion. Ping doesn't determine lag and anyone trying to learn the game I would recommend joining a guild that has top 10 players that can explain some of the finer details to make it easier and more fun. High ping and high lag generally are going the same direction. The Arena is great, but it has issues, specifically when facing oppos from other regions. Those of us who care about this sort of thing will continue to look forward to this being addressed by Bethesda. There is no need to sugarcoat it.
US players need to know going in that they will have a big disadvantage going for top spots until these issues are addressed.

I'm not the exlcusive ambassador of the US Blades population myself, but I do reside in the US and have come to understand that there are some connection issues sometimes during matches for players internationally. So kinda frustrating but definitely something that happens to everyone. Still a fun game though ⚔️

Just for any newer players reading over this, your ping is indicated in the top left corner of the screen when you are matching in the arena. In low numbers it is green, 100-250ish is orange, and higher up it turns red to indicate a less stable connection. In many of my videos I have around 200 orange ping and my opponents are lagging, not myself. Lag is when the animation doesn't seem to be synchronized with the actual gameplay. So when opponents are lagging they may attack while I am blocking but they see me attacking, or vice versa. Also I have several videos of having good green ping and I am the one lagging. So ping does not determine lag. Many players have accused me of being Russian or living in Europe after losing to me and claiming to have high ping. 95% of the times people claim to have bad connections they have no videos and poor descriptions of how that is possible. It is visible when your opponent is lagging or reacting in real time. It can cost you or your opponent a match, but is definitely not a one sided phenomenon. We can learn from watching our own videos what these differences are. Debating over how to properly talk to adults really doesn't impress me or give me any reason to take advice from players with poor sportsmanship as well. New players will have fun playing this game because it is a lot of fun

As for ping and lag in the arena, the issue was escalated to Bethesda. It's up to them to address it, rather than relying on the players, who do not really have knowledge of how the matching/connecting/servers work.
Bethesda has been presented with the issue, provided the results of nearly 20 seasons of arena data, so I'll wait for them to engage with us and let us know what is going on, and whether any fixes are in the works.

I've never used or purchased any sigil shop weapon of any variety, but I agree that offering light weapons or more 2H weapons would be a great addition. Even just to have more unique skins for light weapons would be great. They don't have to offer a -max stam/-max mag enchantment. No reason to continue spreading lies and rumors about a game without any real research or data though. Let's try to make the game more fun for everyone! 🙂 ⚔️

I am a US Blades player and I can relate to the connection issues, just like EU and other players from around the world do and anyone who plays Blades around the world. Sometimes the connections aren't 100% stable

It's more about how often euro and russian players get the advantage over US players. If I fight the same euro or russian player 5 times in a row, I will probably have lag and high ping in at least 4 of the 5 matches. If that player is even semi-decent, then it is almost an automatic loss for me. If it were closer to fifty-fifty I would not have any issues. But it is not, so I do.
My only solution is to just leave the arena when I see one of those players.
And then that means I get to play less. Other US players with a similar experience will also continue to play less.
Then the only players left will be euro and russian.
And then that means that the likelihood of a US player facing high ping and lag will continue to grow and grow.

95% pf players who have claimed to have bad connections simply show screenshots of ping being above 100, because the videos do not show any lag and it cannot be proven

Joey, I love playing you—you’re FIERCE—an incredibly great Arena player. Better than me by a longshot…but if we took stock of your Arena videos, we would find the same ping/lag issues that any USA player suffers from.

Now granted, being on the West coast I have slightly differing issues than somebody on the East coast…but overall, the same players have the same results against the same players.

Show me video of you against 20 German players with you in the green and I’ll change my mind. Show me 20 videos of past matches with Hepa that are in the green and I’ll change my mind.

I think you are just as good as I am. I am definitely no top player myself. Some of my experiences have been exactly the same as you are describing. However sometimes I get terrible lag against Muscle for instance even while having green ping. I can barely get the screen to register my movements and can only get 2, sometimes 1 swing in after a stun. Just one example to keep it short, but I also have watched these other players streaming their matches and see the same effects happening to them as well. Hepa has been lagging very bad before around 300 ping and at the same time his opponent is also experiencing the same thing. It is one sided sometimes but I don't believe it is fair to say it is only detrimental from a NA standpoint. I think it would be great for everyone worldwide to have stronger servers, and I'm not convinced there is a strict US disadvantage

I believe green, orange, and red each have a varying level of (a) not being soggy, (b) medium soggy, and (c) very soggy feel when doing arena matches. The ping has to do with latency and can still have latency if the indicator is green. The soggyness is an over all connectivity feel both visually and one’s kinetic timing. Random example, individual networks can have 300 up and 300 down but could have 40+ ping (own network) or the opposite a 5 up 5 down could have 1 ping (random extreme example if using a testing analysis gauge). Anyway overall, if not already doing it try an app for testing network speed, ping, and reliability. I do record matches and I have done a lot of in the green matches with the latency still there but does not feel soggy. But some get red more often than others and that has an impact too but that is a different concern why is red more than others given all looks good on one’s side with a new supported device and fresh install. Anyway, it does go both ways after watching lots of footage vs most everyone who is a regular. But some end up with more favorable conditions more than others (for example A/B/B/B in stead of A/B/A/B). The world is amazing and can’t blame the Earth for its vastness but so many factors. I am glad to be able to have live matches. Is so fun, so enjoyable. But ya there is consistent latency to overcome and if all things were designed a bit more equal likely there would be global shifts but I hope more keep coming on new and advancing. Has been great to see new opponents rising and trying at all levels. Difficult to master arena and all the concepts involved. So thankful for the community and supportiveness. Be great to see some retired veterans return to battle in arena too. I have said before I got into Blades because the creators are known for long entertaining title runs. Be nice to have some positive news and interactions.

It's a numbers game - I have to match the same EU/RUS opponent 20 times to get ONE match where I am not lagging. Meanwhile, the same player lags 1-2 times in that same 20 matches (and then posts that ONE match somewhere).
IN THE SAME session, i could match a US player 20 times and we would experience roughly the same amount of high-lag matches (less than 5, for sure). But in the very next match, I get the aforementioned EU/RUS player, and instantly my controls are sluggish, I get hit by bashes I don;t see, I walk into blocks that magically appear from nowhere, my shield doesn't stay in high block...etc.
The ONLY thing that changed is the oppo I am playing.
If it were "even", then the EU/RUS player would get the lag 50% of the time, and I would get the lag 50% of the time.
But it ain't even, not by a mile.
And the US players who are trying every day to improve should be informed of what they are up against.

I lag just the same against players in my own time zone in the USA. If I lag 80% of the time against the same players, it makes absolutely no sense at all to assume that they have a perfect connection 80% of their matches. They share the same experiences.

Now - I'm not the quickest learner. it took me 2 1/2 years of playing arena for me to come to this conclusion. That is one of the reasons I compiled 20+ seasons of top 100 results - to see if the impact of this disparity truly made a difference.

It does. The proof is in the pudding. the top ranks go to players that get the lag advantage. Season after season. And it is getting worse, season after season, as potential top US players continue to drop out.

I am not going to sit back and accept any gaslighting trying to tell me that this is not an impactful issue. I've done the work, i've fought the fights, and I've collected the data.

Euro and Rus players GET to play more matches, and get higher ranks, because they benefit from more "freebies" against the remaining US players

When I did not know the difference, I played hundreds of matches every season, not understanding that the 20 matches in a row where I faced the same Rus player were stacked against me. I thought he was just THAT good.
I waited and eventually got my 1 win in 20, and thought 'Wow'. But that 1 win in 20 was coming on the matches that I wasn't getting the high lag..
Now I know better, and I bail when I get a match with one of these Euro/Rus players that automatically gets the lag advantage.
So I am not playing near as much.
And the incidents of getting those players are going up, as they are representing a higher percentage of the remaining player pool.
So my fight total continues to go down.
As do the totals for other US players.
And it's gonna keep trending that way unless there is a fix.

I am much the same way except I think I learned the game at a slower pace even. It took me a few years to catch up and I always listened to what the majority of players said. I realized not too long ago though that many players say the wrong things and do not understand many things. So it is best to determine uncertainties for yourself. My friend TarryOrange also shared this opinion and found many rumors spread in the gaming community to not be true and to show these claims in videos as well. I would be interested to see any lag videos that players have but I have only seen a few from friends in my guilds and most of them were not from NA

Okay - from seasons 18-22, the percentage of US players in the top 100 has steadily decreased. This is a trend that is observable over 5 months.
Past results are the best predictor of future behavior.
And seeing as how I am in steady contact with many of the top 100 players from the US, I attribute the trend to US players realizing that the deck is stacked.
I am not telling people to quit the game - but I am telling US players that if they want to compete for the top 10, or even try to get #1, they need to temper their expectations, because the lag balance will work against them, and will work in the favor of players from europe and russia

What they are discussing is provable if I streamed all 300+ monthly matches and someone watched every single match. There are some predictable things as far connections go with arena (I have been top 10 for at least a year during the month and several times at the end of the month). I think all is being asked is that the issue be discussed in recent update notes or an announcement since there has been no detailed communication in months or a year regarding feedback that could help improve the arena features. I have had feedback responded in the form of patch notes before. Feedback and suggestions were added into patch notes over a year ago about other things such as blocking for arena and monthly resets of the leaderboard. Also features for the events and daily jobs. The top opponents understand the overall mechanics well and some like to help. And the the person above has a quantifiable statistic and qualitative feedback from an abundance of sources that have been at a high level for the game. Otherwise not my argument. I have feedback if anyone asks since I am a fan of TES: Blades and look forward to future updates that expand the enjoyability.

I think players should play and decide for themselves. If you are in the USA and you have traveled then you understand that you can have strange connection issues anywhere. Just because players feel strange connection issues doesn't equate to being an American only issue. It's very simple. It's like the stun timer when you get stunned on the screen it shows you how long you will be stunned while playing. If you didn't even realize stuff like this then why try to solve difficult issues by dividing the gamers? The same players who already divided a large community into thirds is actively trying to divide another third now. I'm sure every player would really agree on stronger servers if players talked to other top 100 players around the world. Hate to tell you but Fastdenny is just better. He plays a lot more and has really good gear. Alhena is good enough for top 10 but plays lightly. You're only focusing on one factor and not narrowing down any other factors. Even if you were correct which could be possible because the theory isn't unproven either, it hasn't been proven by any means with limited biased data. That's all. Seems like everyone who plays in any region gets bad connections sometimes, and sometimes it's always vs a specific opponent. Haven't seen anything to justify messaging my GM or other players who refuse to be on chats with you for other reasons and tell them all to stop playing or only play during the 2 hours you want to play. Everyone can play how they wish to. Play when it's fun for you. I believe that this conspiracy theory is clearly debunked now

Thanks. From the videos y’all watched yesterday it looked like inconsistency with evenness was visually a trend. I can replicate about the same results. What is reducing input latency on patch note 1.6, “reduced input latency for higher ping players in PvP.” Does this impact stating with low ping then connecting to someone with lower ping, if so how?

…to clarify someone streamed on Twitch yesterday and mentioned it here. Really fun to watch others in arena. The opponent doing streaming has green ping a lot but there was one low ping (in the red) in the red individual in several matches. It appeared it was not even, the person who had green streaming seemed to have a consistent average in green then vs one opponent was red over and over. Individual battling aside, results aside, one clear trend was one opponent was red and there was less chance it appeared to get a lower ping such as the other matches. Anyway, my question for anyone that could interpret the patch note. Latency and ping has been addressed before, so could there be something with the ping that could be normalized for everyone that could be helpful. Patch note 1.6, what does this mean in less technical terms for understanding latency potential differences among opponents that may have unintentional low ping?

One thing that stood out to me was that the high ping also occurs during matches with an NA based player as well as out of NA players. This seemed to differ than the large argument being passed around that it only occurs with NA players vs outside of our servers. There is no "only" anywhere in my argument.
My point is that when I as a US player face a non-US player (specifically EUR or RUS), it is much more likely that I will have high ping and more lag. I do know that it is possible to have regular ping and regular lag against these opponents, but that rarely happens.
This is common for many US players.
I have never said this only happens to US players.
I have never said US players should only play during a specific time, but have encouraged more US players to play at the same time so that we can get more matches against each other hand have a better arena experience.

I actually do understand. The issue is that Nintendo told me that any issues that arise from the game is 100% developer issue. Then when the developers are contacted by the gamer, they say it’s a Nintendo issue. So the gamer is left with issues which neither Nintendo or the game developers take responsibility for. I did ask what could be done, and his answer was literally “File a complaint with the BBB”. I look forward to the time when the console/platform and developers actually work together for the good of the gamer.

The crash happens at 10pm pst every day. This is when the in-game shop updates. I actually have to set an alarm to make sure I’m not starting anything like abyss, job, etc around that time because the update pushes a crash which will make me lose any bonus to exp gain in the abyss.

That time related error has to do with notifications or updating the event. Happens on all platforms and has not been address. And sounds like you are aware so that is good to just avoid that moment. Arena is usually empty 10 mins before and after the event loading in. That time differs because of time zones but happens at the same time around the world. Unfortunately it might be something to address with an update and feedback has been present since events began.

I have been having a discussion with support from my ticket from hours ago. I have been getting responses. Was instructed to reinstall and reset my device. The error continues to persists reinstalling and restarting, the error message says check Bethesda’s sight for more info. I sent them another reply. Been 4 back and fourths. No sign of an outage on the sight. This is intermittent from when I get the errors at random times all within 5 mins of booting the app, error…check sight for more info.

Yeah, I got the initial response, but out of 2+ years of ticket experience knew that it would lead to nothing. Mine suddenly worked again around 9:30pm. But considering they have data and potentially payment info on all of us…the fact that they don’t even know their own game isn’t working isn’t exactly a good signal for inspiring trust. Does this mean someone could be mining data for hours and they wouldn’t even know?

I have had two replies since your reply. Both asking me to reset my device and reinstall Blades and reset my home network. I don’t think who ever got my messages could do anything at the time. Usually someone replies they are aware of an issue with…or other players have concerns of an issue… thanks. This time 6 replies that my end might have an issue. As far as that note I posted… Yes, that was a past update (not current)… “Reduced input latency for higher ping players in PvP.” …latency for arena has been addressed before in the past. An issue was known with arena latency. The past patch notes hold a lot of relevant information about the functionality of Blades (no patch notes beyond 1.6 [older] address PvP latency and we are on version 1.24 [current]). Based on the patch note the latency addressed is a foundational topic concerning TES: Blades arena. As far as what I do know about the topic, a typical definition might hold that latency is in regards to time delay concerning visual, audio, and tactile responses presented from a stimulus (such as seeing or hearing and reacting). Lag or lagging seems to be slang for latency. My question if anyone has the tec background to explain what does having reduced input latency for higher ping players for PvP entail? How might this previous patch (assuming is currently applied still for pvp) impact one’s pvp experience.

Yes latency/lag have been concerns for every player around the world for some time now but I still find it very fun. "Lag" is defined in our English dictionary and is commonly used in place of latency. I believe it is a much better term than simply saying ping, because ping alone doesn't cause latency. I've seen many videos with orange ping in the 100-200 range that don't exhibit lag/latency, so it seems very playable in that range from what I understand.

In California, was able to play 6+ hours straight, no issues. I do have auto-update disabled, maybe that’s why I am still able to play?

I got more communication errors. I submitted another reply to the specialized team on the support sight. The error message says, “Mundus is not in order and Jygglalag needs time to restore it. Please visit the support sight for more information.”

What’s the deal with high lvl 50+ coming into arena with under 100 points, and then mashing the hell out of me? Do they lose on purpose to farm players like me and give points to friends? Was just 387, now 212 from fighting this guy twice. Seems to be this is a farming scam.

Just because someone is at or above 50 does not mean they are great automatically. Is not a pay to win or level up be successful. All level 50 is gets the cap for skill points. Gear depends on personal choices as does skills and actual practice. I don’t know anyone who farms in old arena on purpose because the rewards get better as one gets higher tiers. Only reason I can think of that someone might farm the first 100 cups on purpose is to get some gold coin and load on the chest counter but I don’t know what is really going on for old arena with someone who has fully leveled up.

Some players wait until the very end of the season before playing arena because it makes it about 50x easier to rise in ranks with much less chance of being deranked large amounts of trophies. It's not a very commemorable approach among most arena players. Maybe they are just afraid to play every day so they take the easiest road, but I enjoy playing a little arena every day and I lose a lot too. It's all part of the game.
I finished the Blades storyline in about 2-3 months playing slowly, but I beat the new Diablo in like 7 days playing slowly, so for comparison I think Blades is a very good free to play game that isn't overly monetizing anything, and giving fair play to everyone. I hope more pve is coming soon too, but hasn't seemed likely so hopefully you enjoy some arena and get your trophies back too! ⚔️

If you are not into PvP, there is probably nothing that you paid money for that would really change your gameplay experience - you can probably crush the PvE as a free to play without much trouble, especially the second time through. I know I discovered quite a few things about the game on my second pass that I totally missed on my first go through

you can also take a second run through to try a different playstyle - if you went 2H on the first run, try out light weps on the second, for example

What do you think about setting up small knockout tournaments ingame with three or four balanced presets to choose from? You could give small prices (GSG for example) to the winners and it would reward skill over gear.

I think having +4 or +5 Enchantment Synergy on a necklace is one of the most helpful items for making a strong arena build. +5 enchantment synergy makes "stacked" or same enchantments and bonus enchantments, 25% stronger. So I recommend only enchanting necklaces with synergy to all players on this chat designed for Blades players to chat with eachother

His advice is great already. Just to add a little more if you are enchanting your own shield, depending on your build and style will depend on which shield is best to enchant. If you are a mage then the divine Elven shields are great to regen mana. If you are a warrior then the divine Hide shields are great to regen stamina. For protection I would recommend divine Dwarven light shields to block ice spikes easier and prevent frostbite from conditioning, and also a little extra slashing resistance for the really strong breaching swords that are abundant. One of the best enchantments for a shield is exhaustion and best bonuses is -max stamina due to the nature of shields, they mostly come in contact with your opponent while they are striking or using stamina moves. Exhaustion combats stamina and -max stamina prevents regeneration of stamina with enough slices. Shields are great to block spells sometimes but don't interact with opponents or apply enchantments to them while blocking spells

Idea for neutralizing arena lag against international opponents: change the concede button so that it is net zero for both players, but only if used in the first round. No win/loss, no cups , no cash. That way if you run into a player that causes high lag, just concede and re-queue for a new opponent. Thoughts?

I’d even say disable the button after round one to prevent abuse.

My thoughts are that players lag to domestic opponents and also international opponents. This can be seen in daily examples of gameplay so some sort of boost to the server would be beneficial to everyone who goes into the arena to play matches with us. It would be nice to eliminate the queuing information that indicates exactly when you match an opponent. This seems to create problems with matchfixing but doesn't really offer any benefit so I think that would help the arena and I'd put it on my Xmas wish list

Regional servers would likely have similar issues since connecting to domestic opponents also get connection issues, but it's not fully impairing to play either. It would be cool to talk about fun stuff instead of constant negatives though

I have been stuck on“Gabrielle’s treasure” for the Bloodfall Queen quest line for YEARS. I’ve played this game since it was released and have loved it. I have completed the main quest line but every time I come into town Wanum has an exclamation point above his head signifying the continuation of the quest. But every time I talk to him he says the same thing and nothing happens. I make sure I hit every path of dialogue I am presented with. Once I leave town and come back the exact same thing happens and I try again. I’ve done this after every update hoping something fixes it but to my dismay I have never been able to figure out how to progress this quest line. Does anyone have any thoughts on how to progress it?

Sometimes the next quest requires a certain level to begin. If you are fully leveled up then it shouldn't be an issue. If you access the quest map you can see if there are more quests to be completed in that story line, and also the requirements before starting the next quest.

Honestly I think Blades is perfect for mobile devices given it's size and playstyle. The other ES titles are great on PC and much larger but it's nice to have a smaller pocket version too

Blades seems to work on most if not all mobile devices. It works on my phone, tablet, and Nintendo switch. It's a really fun game because it is the most challenging Elder Scrolls game. You cannot mod this game to make it easier, and have to battle other real life players reacting in real time. The combat is second to none. I've played many Elder Scroll titles and this one is great for a small mobile version. Much more than I ever expected, but definitely geared towards a pvp endgame. Most long term players are very friendly and helpful too. Hope everyone has a great holiday!

I think to be top 100 competitive you must be at least level 50. All of your skill points are fully unlocked at level 50. They can always be reset to change abilities and overall build. At level 45 all of the ultimate weapons can be purchased at the sigil shop, as well as some armor and shields that are fully tempered. Crafting and enchanting gauntlets and jewelry can take time. It's good to fight in the arena before getting to high levels though to get practice and timing to be more competitive at higher levels

The game takes place after the great war, where the blades are in hiding. I'd say give the game a shot once you've unlocked some abilities that adds more fun to the combat. Then if you like the fun mobile combat, loot system, lite town planning, and eventually pvp if you're into it than it'll be a good experience. Also imo it's healthy to set the expectation at mobile game quality. I'm having a good time!

There are plenty of your level players in the Old Arena - its always possible to get 1-2 wins. One of my guildmates did that even at level 17😉 Saying that you’ll also lose many times - its a part of fun.

Okay, so how do I exactly, precise sequence of actions please, START playing Elder Scrolls Blades for the first time?

I just downloaded it on to my phone. I try to fire it up. It says "Sorry cannot connect to your character". That's because as far as I know I haven't created a character yet.

It’s actually not bad at all. You can easily do all the quests in the game without making any purchases.

The microtransactions are very very very very misleading. You get absolutely nothing of advantage to advance paying. Is not a pay to win. And quest line is optional. From an experienced TES: Blades top guild master once can join a guild, find a guild and use the visit guild town features for using gold coin for building materials. Grind abyss for gold. Use the junkyard scrap drops from mobs doing daily jobs till xp 45 then get items from the event shop. All skill points and health points end at 50 so everyone is evenly distributed at that attribute. Can respec skills with about 500ish green gems that can be accumulated easy over going to arena on Saturday’s and opening basic wood chests from abyss. Grind abyss get one golden chest then after a few months might get some desired artifacts, most artifacts are junk but a few are quite useful long term. Be sure to compete the more recently daily event quests and save sigils for ultimate gear and devine items for enchantment after xp 45-50+. For someone starting avoid focussing on micro transactions and avoid arena other than checking it out till xp 45+ (PvP is xp 50+ endgame and is great if the goal is to get into a guild to learn from others and maximize your potential). Tip maximums, avoid getting too grumpy about the awfully difficult and demoralizing enchantment odds! Preserve and rejoice when rare nice desired things come from enchantment (luckily there is the event shop that is helpful for planning). Hope all that enjoy TES: Blades ring in a Happy New Year!

I'm sorry if I was not enthusiastic about the gift, I know everyone is doing what they can to bring some life to the game, it just didn't meet my expectations. Having said this, I need to say this is probably my last season in a long time. Even though the game is unique and fun (props to the developers for designing one of the best combat systems for mobile games), my time playing this game isn't rewarding anymore and I don't feel like wasting another 200 GSG (which was months' work ingame) to get a few usable items, not even a complete build.

You're right, Blades is a great game. As @queen spire says, the combat system is unique and excellent. The anniversary gift is a nice gesture and certainly very useful for many. But after 4 years of daily playtime and meanwhile a year without updates, innovations and improvements, I'm unfortunately out of breath. No I’m aftaid. Its not enough players on Arena ( my guess is around 6000 at best) so people get matched with whoever is available, otherwise you might have to wait way too long for a match. And from those 6000 really active are probably around 400-500 or so..

@buoyant mulch I have noted quiet a few players joining Blades and then abandoning it soon after reaching level 50. Talking with players, one of the reasons for lack of retention is the difficulty in reaching the Arena leatherboard with an entrenched group of long term players (of which I am one). One idea is to allow players to see further down the player table, perhaps allowing us to scroll through the top 100, then top 200 on another page, then top 300 or more. I appreciate this requires some programming and an update, but could this be implemented easily?

Another idea to improve motivation and satisfaction for mid-range players is to tweak the win/loss algorithm to allow more players to reach the Imperial Arena, which is currently impossible for all but a handful of players in the last 12 months. This would be simple algorithm tweak (server side, I would assume) not requiring an update and should be very easy to implement.

Difficulty is set not by lvl, but gear you have. For example, if enemies are mostly resistant to frost while dealing frost damage and are weak to fire, but you have no resistance to frost or weapon that deals fire damage, quest may show up as hard, but if you would equip weapon with fire damage and armor with frost resist, it will show as easy or balanced. Spells may help you too, but I don't know if this affects the difficulty on screen. As to the difficulty it doesn't matter often. After a while when you will become more skilled 5 difficulty points quests may become easy. Difficulty you see on the screen doesn't affect gameplay, it's more like AI guessing. Just a tip, many armors you get from random loot may seem to be junk, but they can often help with such quests. Usually it is good to have a weapon with each elemental type of damage, and each armor piece with each elemental enchantment.

Pretty fast, and if you have the Warlock Ring it will be Ludicrous Speed. But no elemental damage. So invest in light weps and then you get to not have to use Warlock for speed

My biggest issue with light weapons is how everything blocks. extremely often. It hurts to not be able to bonk their shields over and over as they do nothing like in Skyrim. I tried heavy weapons (new account, different character so no getting through block skill or enchantment yet) and they suffer the exact same problem while being slower. I have no idea how to solve it for my light weapons character.

Practice. There is High Block and Low Block, and once you recognize the difference, doors will open. Practice with Heinrich/Staki. The real power behind light weapons is Combos, which can be used when the opponent is in low block without getting stunned. Mobs have patterns, and once you suss those out the game will also get easier for you
