Hey guys, having some trouble with fallout 4 freezing. Couple quick notes. I'm level 53 and have found and completed the entire top 1/3rd of the map and done Nuka world. I'm playing on Xbox one, and I have no mods. It's vanilla fallout with the season pass add ons. Once again, no mods. I cannot physically play the game inside of the Boston area. Every time I try and do ANYTHING I get maybe 5 minutes before the game crashes or freezes. I really don't want to start a new character as I've spent a ton of time building this character up. I've tried entering in from different areas, Cabot house is about as far as I can go. Fanuel Hall has crashed 4 times in as many loads. Its basically to the point it's unplayable. Any suggestions or should I just uninstall and say welp I tried. Gg.

I was having issues with mods originally so I had created a new character, disabled and deleted all mods, uninstalled the game, cleared all save data etc. It was like it was a fresh new game and I can't even venture into Boston. On vanilla gameplay. It crashes as soon as I do anything.

Yeah, I was just listing things. I cleared content disabled mods, etc. Then started fresh. I didn't want to have it crash like it is so I made sure I wiped it all. Now I'm stuck with a game that won't stop crashing in Boston.

Idk if this matters or not but fallout has had crashing issues with certain sections of Boston forever. Its the way the game loads new regions i believe.

After awhile you learn to avoid certain sections. Like on my game to get to the railroad bunker I have to go from pick man's gallery. Not following the freedom trail. To get into bunker hill I have to walk around to the side entrance. If I try to use the front entrance my game crashes. To get into downtown Boston from diamond city I have to use the raider area to the right then skirt outside the city till I get to the basketball court. I can then enter downtown without issue

Leaving good neighbor i cant go right to that raider area over the wrecked truck or bus that drops down into that raider area either. And there's a few more like trinity tower. I cant go to it from a certain direction

Hello, I'm sure this has been asked but I just got a disc copy of FO4 GOTY and on steam it asks for the product code. Now I'm new to PC gaming and unfamiliar with steam but I've looked EVERYWHERE for the code and tried different ones. A code on the back of the case, on the CD and even tried the one on the bottom of the VAULT-TEC chart. Any ideas? New game, unopened

Those codes are usually found on the back of the booklet in the case. It should be around 9 digits long

Modern weapons mod adds in the vulcan which is a 20mm×120mm and somehow the game allows you to carry it. It also adds in the m134 which is a 5.56mm

Is there a mod that fixes the eye slit on the Overboss PA torso piece so you can see something through it other than the distant rooftops of buildings fom ground level or passing cloud? I'm wanting to have a "first person but you can see your character's legs" mod on while using it but the slit is way too high to be practical.

I've been having issues on Xbox one with certain areas. The crash is bad around the old corner bookstore. And the church the railroad are in. And that church held by the supermutants close to the old corner bookstore. And bunker hill. When I get missions to kill the supermutants there I fast travel to goodneighbor and work my way to the docks then walk in and go in the backdoor to kill the supermutants inside. And I do the same to get to the old north church. To get inside bunker hill I have to use the side entrance

I can't even walk about for more than 5 minutes without it crashing which really sucks. Can't progress the story because I'm unable to follow the Railroad. No mods btw, this is purely vanilla, no creation club content either. Bethesda just don't seem interested at all in either fixing or acknowledging the problem. just the usual run around of telling you to remove all mods, uninstalling and reinstalling the game. It's quite sad.

When in doubt, the .coc command works like fast travel but for the interiors of buildings. Also when the trail heads through a doorway, don't do what I did which was jump over the fence and keep following it to Bunker Hill...

I feel your pain. But there are other ways to get to the old north church. Dont go downtown come in from the north. Get to the Cabot house fast travel out fast travel back run straight to the door. You should already know the password. If you dont just ask I or someone else can tell you the password

is there an actual Power Armour rework mod that completely revamps how Power Armour is distributed in Fallout 4?

Like, so its actually END GAME content, that armour is rarer and fusion cores dont exist around every corner

Why would you even want to make power the end game content. Imagine you are making a regular armor build just to swap it to power armor once you hit the high levels. That's just a waste of the perk points.
I'll explain. Power Armor in Fallout 4 was designed in a way that it serves as a build option. Like guns/melee was in previous games.
So, you have perks for regular armor. For example Adamantium Skeleton.
And you have perks for power armor - Pain Train, Nuclear Physicist, etc.
What I'm trying to say that saying that Power armor in Fallout 4 was handed too early is like saying that 10-mm pistol in Fallout 3 was handed too early and you should have been playing with a baseball bat until you hit the high levels

Yeah it made me ill that power armor was given to you in the first mission. But it makes sense for your character. He was a medal of honor winner and before the bombs hit yall were getting ready to give a speech at the vfw. So for you its not hard to imagine that you already know how to use power armor. That eliminated the need to learn how to use power armor like you did in fallout 3 or nv

I kinda doubt that if you remember the Lookout robot when you get near the USS Constitution it specifically says she was lawyer not a JAG. While JAG's are lawyers but they are more specialized. Of course she could've have been a former JAG and became a civilian lawyer later but I think that would've been mentioned.

Those “achievements” were only the list of things you had done that are kept on a list on your console to compare to other gamers, and not really relevant at all to the game or gameplay. You still will have all of the challenges and quests, but no log on your console of how your ‘achievements’ stack up to other gamers ‘achievements.’ I mean after all who cares. It’s the game that counts. Repeat. This makes NO difference in your gameplay or progress.

Question to the community - Has anyone ever been able to coerce Theodore Collins, from the quest "Mystery Meat", to broker a deal instead of killing him? I think in all the years I've played, I've never once been able to get him to surrender so he & I could make a deal.

As far as I've known, he pretty much fights until he dies, even if I get his health down as low as I can.

I only really ask because it is possible to spare him (according to the wiki), but I'm assuming it's darn near impossible.

I'm also trying my damnedest, for the second time, to try and minimize the amount of named NPC deaths in 4, excluding X6 and Father since I plan on going against the Institute.

Tbh, I actually reloaded a very old save that takes me back to when I just finished the Nuka World DLC, killing off the raider bosses, and prior to that Theodore Collins (unfortunately) - I figure the the raider bosses are write-offs since they're raiders and deserved it, and I want to sincerely keep the amount of named NPC deaths to at least below 10. With Theodore dead, that really only counts as one thus far.

Sully Mathis, as well as the other named raiders, are also write-offs since they too are raiders and thus deserved their deaths.

I read somewhere that I can technically achieve peace amongst the factions, so I might give that a try.

To be frank, I feel like I could come up with a solution to "resolve" Theodore's death - create a robobrain, name it after him and convince myself that's Theodore as a robobrain but re-programmed to be an ally / hypothetical vendor

Okay, I have a big question for the community - Is it possible to complete the main quest of Fallout, and manage to keep the BOS, the Railroad and the Minutemen alive?

So, here is what I want to do:

1. I definitely want to stick with the Brotherhood of Steel

2. I want to get all the companions perks from all the faction related companions (mainly just Danse, Deacon and X6-88)

3. Minimalize the amount of named NPC deaths, if possible

So, I've been reading a fair bit online, and it could be possible to do this, but it'll require a heck of a lot of work

So, I'm thinking that as long as I don't start Tactical Thinking, I can still be allied to the Railroad. I don't initiate dialogue with Cpt. Kells, and focus my attention on working alongside the Minutemen to get them settled into the Castle, and to eventually get into a conflict with the Institute.

By working with the Minutemen, I can still retain the Railroad & the Brotherhood as allied factions - though overall, I plan on sticking with the Brotherhood as my faction of choice

I don't see many downsides to this, aside from still having to kill X6-88 and Father - but much like the Nuka World raider gangs, I've chosen to make them into "write-offs"

I might not become a Sentinel, but being a Paladin is good enough - and honestly, what does PAM do for the Brotherhood if she's acquired? She's more like a decorative piece in Quinlan's office than anything else.

And now that I think about it, it's not like becoming a Sentinel means anything in the grand scheme of the game - I can make jet pack mods with high enough skills, and I don't wear power armor much, so it's not like I need special parts

Believe it or not, I actually reloaded a old save on my current play-though because I didn't like some of the choices I had made, wanting to re-do a lot of things. I might be out 111 levels, a nice Instigating combat rifle and a myriad of perks I spent hours & days getting - but I'm sure I can get it all back, slowly but surely.

Yea basically you can get to the point with the railroad and bos where you have the missions to destroy each of them, and then take out the institute with the minutemen instead. That's the only way I know of

The way I was thinking about it, I figured that if I worked with the Brotherhood until the end of Blind Betrayal and at the start of Tactical Thinking, I could avoid that quest and then focus on the Minutemen to help destroy the Institute - and before I am to help them, I figured I would help the Railroad until I have the Deliverer and Ballistic Weave at least.

In a sense, it'd be Railroad, then BOS, then Minutemen to finish the game

Like, I start with helping the Railroad to get the stuff I want from them, switch over to helping the BOS until after Blind Betrayal, then roll with the Minutemen to nix the Institute

And in the meantime, I just make it a priority to get the companion perks I want from Deacon, X6 and Danse (who I hope and remember correctly, should become my companion again immediately after Blind Betrayal.)

Okay so I just had the first experience ever of a fallout 4 mod properly amazing, and simultaneously scaring the crap out of me, very unlikely candidate.

All the physical objects started warping to under me at blinding speed and I moving ever so slightly. Fearing that this was the magic of Todd Howard I immediately started running and very nearly screamed at my desk, but after about 3 seconds it stopped and I looked around expecting some horrible mess but no.
Everything was exactly back to where it was, and proceeded to stay exactly where they are still now.

I've been running through the "Secret of Cabot House" quest and I have run into a really annoying bug. After clearing the asylum, I find Edward wounded on the floor leaning against a wall. I know there's supposed to be dialogue but he just keeps repeating "Here's the situation." Anytime I try to talk to Jack Cabot nothing happens, it just says that he's busy. I've tried using these commands to see if it fixes anything but I have had no luck.

the primary problem in Survival Mode is really just CTDs, by careless modding
I currently have 81 mods active. Some large quest mods. Crime and Punishment and such - 1 CTD in over 200 hours of gameplay so far

I used to crash every 20-40 minutes, which makes everything a drag on Survival.

It takes meticulous planning, and Merging in FO4Edit to resolve conflicts.

Selling all the ammo you dont use and chems is the easiest way to get money. They dont weigh anything as far as ammo goes and chems weigh very little. Also selling purified water is always good. Once you put a couple water purifiers in sanctuary you get more purified water then you can use

But once you send them away then you dont make them mad. Like valentine doesn't like it if you join the brotherhood. Neither does piper. But send them away and they stay cool with you

The mods you want to use load in the correct order on Xbox. But if you load a bunch that all say load this one at the top then you'll just have to try a trial and error thing till you get it right. But its supposed to be automatically loaded in the correct order. Atkeast from my experience

I have an issue where I cannot add the M-SAT to Ada, the option to build is greyed out, I have one on me but the option to attach is also greyed out. I have heard that this is only one of the bugs that the Automatron mod has. These were threads from 2016. Has anyone found a way to fix it (on xbox so don’t have the luxury of console commands)

God I hate down town Boston and the cit ruins on fo4 crashes/lag/freezing central

And the mods that can fix em are too much data it’s like 500 and something MB’s to download can’t even do hunter and hunted story mission cause it freezes and crashes as soon as I get near the greenteck building and whenever I go in the downtown Boston it lags

Faneuil hall is the super mutant church when you take a right leaving goodneighbor correct? I have lag issues at that raider base by the old corner bookstore but not at that church. And I have issues at bunker hill. To get to bunker hill I have to go in over the bridge by the uss constitution and take the side entrance. If I try to go in from badtfl and go through the front it freezes when that lady stops you at the gate. But if you delete the militarized minutemen mod it clears that area up

Yes and I do use the arty smoke grenades. I like to toss them over the walls of raider and super mutant bases

I use the Artillery as well, I meant the Junk Mortar from the Contraptions Workshop. It's a just-for-fun item that you can use to launch stuff across a decent distance (including yourself) but doesn't actually do any damage with what it fires - or at least if it does it's so low I've never noticed. But it's a big looking beast and mounting it on top of something with some nearby random scrap deco for implied ammunition definitely gives off the appearance of any attackers having to make their way past a scrap-shot shotgun the size of a car.

You can, they just won't detonate. Although... scattering a bunch of easily triggered explosives across a wide swathe of attackers is also a pretty good "Do Not Enter" message.

Oh gotcha. Yeah at least the pitching machine activates them when triggered. Dangit! Will tinker with the mortar sometime, I've never used it or the rolling ball tracks.

Sorry - it's one of her "Hated That" triggers but she doesn't immediately abandon you and refuse to join back up like Preston will if I'm understanding your original question. You just have to balance it back out with doing things she likes.

The Vault Tec Terminal VIP Tracker is also an interesting in-game option. That's helped me fix random NPC bugs in the past by finding where they're hiding, if my teleport went wonky

It should be asking you to sign in with your Bethesda.net account (Username & Password) if you've never signed in before or got logged out for some reason... Sometimes with Bethesda mods I would have to spam the Mods button on Fallout 4 each time it backed me out and eventually I got in.

@worthy sedge It could also be because of this but I don't know... I think this is for adding mods Externally like through Nexus Mods.
