That's a first. I normally have Raiders fighting Bloatflies near the small Raider camp next to Sanctuary. But, a Deathclaw popping out immediately after exiting out of Vault 111? That's extremely terrifying.

Although: Earlier I had a massive Super Muant war party trying to kill everyone in Sanctuary.

(I had the Bedlam settings set to max: Uttter Chaos!) Some of them had high powered weapons: Miniguns, Gatling Lasers, Laser Rifles. All in all, the settlement definitely won't be lacking in firepower anymore, that's for sure 🤣 Plus, the crappy weapons I disassembled came out with a lot of great scrap too. Can't complain.

I was looking at some mods, and there is a lot of choice. I've notice the massive ammount of dirt and trash accumulated for 2 centuries in Boston and i'm having fun by scrapping everything. Even bugging some areas because was not intended but still, i'm enjoying the "clean boston" runs.

Not just picking junk as usually we do but litterally looking at cars, scraps or any kind of rubble scattered around and i'm immediatly "scrapping" everything in usefull resources

I'm surprised bethesda didn't manage to create a perk for this kind of necessity

And it makes actually finding a group like, say, the Enclave, even cooler, because your finding the old government that ruled over all of that

Even if the old world is gone, doesn't mean we can rebuild it and keep it clean. No one is forced you to live in the dust. Only if you are a hobo with no skills. You woudn't survive in the wasteland without a proper equipment with medicines, hydraulics/water supply, you need to stay hydratated and clean constantly your body from radiations.

I prefer to keep clean my wasteland to avoid more radiation pollution. Or can cause tumors and cancer, worst, turn everyone into ghouls.

Keeping clean Boston is not just because i want to restore the pre war glory but to keep sanitize and healthy the location for my next settlement expansion. At the end i'm the govern at this point. I am the king of the castle and my settlements are my farm of resources.

That's fair, personally I just like the idea of the Old World being more of an almost unrecoverable dream, an echo of the past which reverberates throughout the overgrown and abandoned streets of decaying ruins, with the only way to even possibly reclaim that dream being to side with the only active remains of it, and to do a lot of horrible things to get it back

Let's be real, there is a similarity with the ancient rome and medieval age. When rome fall there is high and low medieval age, then we move to the Renaissance era. Things like this can happen in Fallout as well. Sure the old world might be gone, but that doesn't stop civilization to build new things or re discover old methods of production or even invent new one.

No yeah I agree with you, but I feel like the idea of rediscovering those from the ruins and then using them to build something new instead of trying to desperately bring back any semblance of the Old World is just... Poignant yk? Maybe as was said in NV, it's time to just let go, let the past be the past, let the old ruins and bones of the dead finally just rest, and take a note from nature and just move on. Plus you can't say the idea of moving through a pine forest in the chilly October day with mutated but still mostly normal animals roaming about and only small scraps of metal or debris and bones from ages past scattered about, and then finding some mostly destroyed old brick building, with an old American flag covered in vines and other plant life still barely clinging on to the side of the building as a reminder of a bygone era, isn't atmospheric and hard hitting as hell

Well, in term of history we took inspiration from ancient roman architecture and readapt some forms but it was added just for the aesthetic despite most of the buildings changed their fuction. The same roman temples mutate by the christian influence. And with a proper world building old buildings acquire a different functionality. BUT if a pre war facility still keep it's function why change it? Happens also for many buildings in real life too. Untill new technology makes that building obsolete and get dismembered/demolished.
You can still rebuild if you have the resources but you still can only mimic the aesthetic if you are the most wealthy and smartest man in the world. Or you can rebuild it in your own way and change the function as you please, or simply demolish and scrap things for material. Something that happened before. my city Roma turned their old ancient roman buildings as quarries and use the materials for building houses and temples too. So the same thing can happen in the fallout universe. If some buildings are still functional and not collapsing like the Sierra Madre village.

Maybe we just need post war themes, something original that isn't just another ugly shack or made by scrap metals with high risk to get sick of tetanus

One of the big issue i encountered is the architecture stagnation.
Back in fallout 1 and 2 i can see the NCR try their best to rebuild civilization and in fact they got their own home made buildings. Solid houses made of bricks and in Fallout 2 their society evolved, adapted, restored what the pre war lost but made in their own way.

The institute is a great example of Post war tech and architecture

Yeah but like, the Old World also left behind some NASTY secrets when it died, and trying to salvage those old ruins may just cause you to stumble across one of them, and is that really worth it? Because in my opinion it isn't, and also there's a reason the Old World died on Oct 23rd, 2077, it simply could not sustain itself, so why would you want to just redo and reuse the Old World, when that'll potentially just lead to the same old mistakes. Imo it's better to just let it's remains rest, and let nature recover and then build something new

Old world blues is a litteral archeologist expedition to the unknow, same for Dead Money and Lonesome Roads.
But yeah, that's why pushing too much on the old world itself is redundant, let's have new forms of expression. Let's have new identities that populate the US.
And again, the only great good thing bethesda did in Fallout 4 was the introduction of the Institute. Gosh i really wish we could have other factions with this kind of identity:

• architecture
• technology
• art and culture

The issue i have with Fallout 4 is the fact is just a Fallout 3.5. Sure we have all the tech improvements with the gunplay but fallout is not just ruins of the old war, savages raiders. Is about human societies rebuilding the world destroyed by war and forming new governs

I still feel Bethesda should have focused more on the aspects i've pointed. Make unique the world by feeling the difference of each faction for the tech, architecture and their art and crafts

We all know what is vault tec but we can always focus on the vaults and vault tec. After 210 years is better focus on something else

Every time I push the button screen goes to grey and then...nothing - it just sits there. This appears to be a common bug with playing cutscene video.
Is there any way to get past this? I can do a console command set stage, but I've heard that can mess things up.

Ran into an issue, I'm on XBSX and trying to load F4 (non anniversary) saves but I have a message on screen saying
"we can't save more data for this game" it won't load any of my old saves nor save a new game.

I have plenty of room on my SSD, so that's not an issue, l've cleared cache, l've cleared all saved data completely and yet every time I load into the game I get the exact same message? Is the game just cooked now after the Anniversary Update?

@wheat axle you need to manually delete old/obsolete save files, get rid of all but your latest or earliest saves for your characters and it will work, just makes sure you are connected to the internet when you do so it doesn’t try to sync your old saves.

I use the Windows preview that updates pretty much weekly, I create a C:/ Games to install Steam and all my Steam games in, the One-drive cloud does not normally save changes to this folder, deleting old saves is important because the game can't run properly when referring to two sets of saves (Steam and One-drive) or when old saves used different hardware.

So when I haven’t played Fallout 4 on my PS4 in a while, and I usually like to delete an old save and start fresh so I can try different builds . What’s a good starting SPECIAL build for a beginner?
Should I scrap and clear out all the junk in Sanctuary, and also clean out Red Rocket Station since I plan to use it as my companion base? Is it worth grabbing the leather armor from the skeleton by the river north of Sanctuary Hills and looting the root cellar?
After helping Preston with the raiders and fighting the Deathclaw during the “When Freedom Calls” quest, should I head straight to Diamond City? Would it be a good idea to stop at Drumlin Diner and Walden Pond along the way?

Depends. Movable scraps like tires, baskets and boxes that can be picked up by the player is advised that you relocate elsewhere along with cars that can be moved. You can't place more unless you have access to console commands and so it's highly recommend you move them so you don't scrap them when reworking sanctuary hills. Additionally, you can head to diamond city and completely avoid the minute men till they are needed for the end. Id highly recommend getting higher and higher charisma so you can do the speech check at the drumlin diner so you can also keep the chem dealer there. Watch out because now that the quests have changed for lots of CC the sentinel automatic power armor frames will be up ahead. At least the ones whom will try to kill you. Not sure if there is a way to tame them but be careful for going north of drumlin can have you between rock and a hard place. Id recommend heading for diamond city but if you can stop by local venders other then the drumlin (like said you'll wanna level up your charisma before you do that.) so you can pick up a military backpack. And armor is always a good thing to grab so be sure to load up on some gear.

Not entirely true. You can actually increase the build meter by manually scrapping weapons in workshop mode. It’s a good way to get space for sanctuary without scrapping the remnant of the past

Verifying files on pc worked after an update. Is there an xbox equivalent. And sometimes they work regardless of the greyed out thing.

If you’re on PlayStation, it’s a known bug that came with the anniversary update. They managed to patch it in the December patch for Xbox but PS users are still experiencing it (seems to be affecting PS4 players more than 5 from what I’ve seen on here).

If you’re on PlayStation, you may not be able to use that content until after the next patch rolls out (some time in the new year - more details to come). See #fallout-announcements for additional info.

So I’m having an issue loading fallout 4 on my pc through the Xbox app. It opens the fallout launcher I select play and the launcher goes away a few seconds later screen goes black like it’s attempting to load the game but a second later it disappears like I just exited out. I have tried to start the game on lower settings. Tried the scan and repair in the Xbox app. I have updated my drivers and still nothing.. I have also deleted the game and redownloaded it. Mine did that if I attempted to run in windowed mode, but it can be the opposite for some. Perhaps re-install Gaming Services and the xbox game bar as well. Try running the game exe without xbox app as an administrator. If it doesn't work you might want to submit a support ticket.

While some Creations do exist on the Playstation family of consoles, they do not exist to the extent that other platforms do, anything in the Creations which are external assets such as voicelines, custom textures, etc will typically not be allowed on them due to Sony's choice to not allow them as they alter the system in their mind.

it isnt a playstation issue at all. the playstation and its infrastructure is more than capable of handling CC. I have played around with xbox and barebones pc mods for both skyrim and fallout 4 on playstation via a jailbroken console before. it isnt very straight forward of a process, but for the most part you can plop files straight into the game's temp cwd (current working directory) from the digital or disc version via ftp with root access and enjoy a very frankensteined modding experience on playstation.

from what i've observed, the issue lies squarely with sony's policies, not anything to do with the hardware or backend infrastructure...

Without settlement ambush kit, you have to have your resource numbers up but low defense. So have 100 food, or water but next to no defense. You will be seen as vulnerable.

I have one main save that's just me and a raider save where I do the opposite of what I'm doing on my main save and a female one that's just doing the main quest looking for her son, lmao. She's dying a lot, it leads to hilarious moments

I retired my main save of 300 hours, kellog still alive but I reached my goal of creating my own faction with 12 settlements and 3 military bases.

That's the beauty of this game, you can just play and end it whenever.

Okay forgive me if this sounds dumb. Just playing fallout 4 for the first time in years and is it just me or are the enemies ridiculously full of health? Like I’m launching fat man’s at these guys and they’re only knocking down like 1/16th of health at a time. This is even on just radscorpions too

What level should I be before I activate the automatron dlc? I heard the enimies can be a pain in the ass if your under leveled

They're honestly not that bad, if you do the quests yes they can be and some random encounters can be hard but otherwise typically you can avoid any harder fights until you're ready

Are you early levels and against the Enclave? Reload to before you took Pyro's PA

what level u at? it's normal for enemies to have a lot of hp

u need to look for good legendaries to kind of balance it out

Last I checked I was level 1850, just wondering it’s my old account and in my eyes it’s odd that enemies hsve like 50000hp that are commonly found around the wasteland
