Prior to anniversary edition we had a less messed up ghost space system

If a mod was 100mb we didn't need 200mb, only like 130 or 140

Ghost space is different, and I’m not entirely sure how that works (I think it has to do with how the mod is cached in the system).

With this system, the mod is basically downloaded twice, one of the files is unzipped, and then the copy gets deleted (super laymen’s terms - I’m not smart enough to use the right terminology). So you need double the space so both files can exist until one is deleted by the system.

Add in the weapons and armor and tons of mods for settlement stuff and than sim settlements 1 and various things like vehicles and other lands and locations and yeah suddenly you're going huh yeah thats way more 300 mods. oops. and you gotta combine things and all that. chaos indeed but the end result is what one can go for. you might want your game basic and simple fixes and thats cool ive done that but for me I want my commonwealth a warzone and nowhere is safe and its so overloaded with armor and guns and things to do one would be busy for months irl doing it all. however I do not deny the cozy of a nice 20 mods tops loadout of fixes and patches.

And even if there is conflict, it's not going to be an absolute deal-breaker for everyone. Mod authors can go about addressing the conflict.

Yes there will be conflicts and you can usually clean that up and fix it. Just earlier in fo3 I installed a mod and had to clean up a few things it busted so I loaded up fo3edit and got to work going in and doing so. So the conflicts do exist but with some effort one can usually fix those problems.

as for the types of mods out there I dont know what to suggest to you but I do know that there's almost something for everyone. So look around for things involving father on nexus (maybe one lets him be companion) and you can find tons of things for settlements. there's sim settlements 1 & 2 and most tell you play ss2 but I didnt care for those lame forced quests it has to get the cool stuff so I just stick with sim settlements 1 and I prefer some of the buildings people made for it. that being said you can even get mods to let you build a settlement almost anywhere. Just get on nexus and other sites and start digging around and finding things to try out.

Well, it would be great to have a mod that rewrites the Institute, tbh. I like this faction a lot because of the possibilities they have — they could easily make the whole Commonwealth a better place. But because of bad writing, they have to be evil for no real reason. I mean, they’re secluded and hidden beneath the Commonwealth. They don’t have to spy on everyone, replace humans with synths, or constantly be in conflict with the RR or the BoS.

A mod like that on PS4 would be amazing, even if it were 100 GB and I had to sacrifice all my other mods for it. But everything I find when I search in the Creation menu is some overhaul that just makes Institute workbenches available or adds a few outposts in the Commonwealth

I tend to add new factions and groups to the games (fallout and elder scrolls) just to throw a few things into the mix. Pity the game isnt adaptive and was able to play out according to who's doing what. Still though its fun having factions running around even if its some group in a camp sending you on scav missions for caps so they have more stuff at their camp.

I spent far too many years playing fo3 with increased increased spawns and mods like mmm, fook2 and fwe on top of others. that gauntlet while hard is not fo3 fully modded out and x5 spawns so while I might die during it I still dont view it like I would 40 raiders attacking and with melee from mods removing almost all guns. not bragging as I probably have more died than didnt in history in the games but the gauntlet seems tame compared to how over the top stupid my fo3 game got.

Ive taken my overpowered level 200+ characters there with special stats in the 90s and everything maxed out and they still will outdo your stats. sure you can sneak up on 99.999999% of the commonwealth at that point but far harbor seems to play on a whole different level and your stats while godly seem to mean almost in a way nothing to them in regards to the spooky stuff. in a punch per punch sure you'll win but sneaking up on them isnt going to go how you think.

That reminds me of a mod I once had on PS4, called The Curse of Darkness and its Hardcore version. In simple terms: the mod adds a few thousand ghouls to the Commonwealth, increasing their speed, damage, and durability. It was hilarious, XD. I was level 70 in my Power Armor and got ambushed by twenty ghouls at once while I had my minigun. In the end, my armor was pretty damaged, I had no ammunition left, but there were plenty of dead ghouls. I didn’t want to find out what would happen if they exploded, XD, so I deleted the mod after a few hours.

Is it just me, or do most of the “patches” seem filled up with a whole lotta nothing. “Performance improvements in the creations menu” is one heck of an achievement when the menu wasn’t working at ALL on release. Despite it working now, half-heartedly, it’s still laggy as hell. “You are now able to like/dislike creations as intended” is wild. How can such a feature, a basic feature, be broken on release?? Either way, maybe focus on the bigger issues, like say, I don’t know, get the damn DLCS working for playstation players?? Sorry for the rant, but damn. That november patch seems like a lot of statements for nothing concrete. I’d honestly rather the “anniversary edition” cash-grab would’ve never released, or would have been delayed at least. I appreciate the “mods with achievements” sentiment but honestly to me it seems like a net negative. And YES, I know that they are working on it, but it should’ve been in the November patch. Besides, how does an update to a game end up needing multiple patches??

I assume something happened where Sony devices didn’t like whatever they intended to fix in the patch. The same issues were fixed for Xbox in that November patch.

So while the frustration is warranted, I don’t think they intended for it not to work.
