Literally will never update beyond 163, I have a game with 1200 mods that runs pretty stable, and I’m very happy with how it is. And there are systems that work fine to use NG content on old gen anyway. Any bug fixes implemented in NG were probably already fixed by modders anyway. all that they do with new updates now is break mods that a lot of people like using.

Also have GoG, so will never be forced to update

Every light source from explosions to plasma rifle shots to construction lights and most egregiously the sun are all making an unbearable staticy effect that makes it impossible to see
Does anyone know how to fix this?

for fallout 4, anyone has recommendation on how to fix the "sped-up" issue where we basically gotta limit the fps cap or else your character runs extra fast?

I’ve just realized that Ada is not a good xp companion because all she does is kill my enemy’s and doesn’t give me xp so I’m gonna go down a rabbit hole and use dogmeat for xp my next play through and also Ada kept taking the legendary enemies weapons and armor and leaving them nowhere to be found

If a companion is picking up weapons, they can be found in thier inventory.

the legendaries disappearing isnt new, it sometimes happens, mods that touch certain things makes it happen more, im not sure what causes it tho

it should appear on the enemies body eventually

and like what Zero said, if a companion picks something up, it does appear in their inventory

You have to do some damage yourself to gain xp from a companions kill, even a small amount of damage.

CC stuff isnt always safe, its better and safer than most other mods yes, quality assured as well, but its still consider mods, and depending on how many of the CC items you have, it still adds scripts, objects, quests, etc

One thing to try: At the little window before it starts with Play, Options, etc. go to Options, find the display settings and change it to 1080p. On the PCs I've tried with nvidia cards it doesn't like running at higher resolutions.

You get the operation cannot be completed when you have no mods installed aswell. Just trying to open the in-game mod menu it kicks you out at varying time lengths, if the mod wasn't on bethnet, it wouldn't show up in the in game mod menu... So there's more to it.

It’s hardly a mod manager, the in game Bethesda mod manager is horrendously awful, learn to use an external mod manager, hell, even vortex would be better, since you seem like a beginner in modding. I would recommend Mo2 for future proofing though

Personally, I would just go straight to mo2, which is what I wish I did, there’s a bit of a learning curve, but you get much more stable gameplay having much better management to how your mods interact with each other. I have around 1100 mods and rarely get crashes

There’s plenty of tutorials to get you started with Mo2 as well

Yep, that’s the problem with in game manager and vortex, they inject the mods straight into the games directory, and sometimes don’t completely remove all of the files when you disable or uninstall them, completely ruining your game in the process

1. Delete Fallout 4 completely, remove ALL FILES associated with it and uninstall it completely from steam.
2. After you have wiped everything related to your previous installation from the pc, make a clean install of fallout 4 on your second drive, so it’s not in program files.

It’s a reliable manager that uses a virtual folder system so it doesn’t actually touch your game files, you should never run into an issue like this again.

I would recommend downgrading at some point, you can use the steam depot method later down the line which is super easy if you keep your directory relatively clean. im going to sleep in 15 minutes, so I would honestly suggest following this tutorial exactly, keep everything on your secondary drive: the one you installed fo4 on. One thing I would do in your case just to make things easier for you to track is import nexus categories, where he chose not to.

Ah, scripted extender, brain fart. Given the information, I’m going to assume you have a somewhat large modlist. Given that your game was reaching the menu, and then crashing after a few seconds(typical of ba2 crashes) and the fact that it was fixed when you purged a few mods, it’s most likely a ba2 crash.

This can be solved by unpacking the ba2 in injecting the loose files into the mod folder(could have a performance impact depending on size), or just having less mods(but who wants to do that)

Also, vortex isn’t foolproof when it comes to purging mod links, especially when you have a lot of mods. the likelihood that it accidentally leaves some in increases the more mods you have.

This is why Mo2 is literally just the best and it’s not even close, when it comes to mod managers.

Well i was on a different save. the other Modded save is when i got the 1st Total Hack magazine, and the other one is when i retrieved 2 of the Total Hack magazines. one from the graveyard and one from Watts consumer electronics

Okay here's the detailed explanation. i was on a Unmodded save this was a couple hours after i uninstalled the mod and i was in the Financial District and all the sudden the elevator takes long, Stuck in a Loading Loop, next thing i know there's 1 crash in the menu, and next thing, 2 freezes in the game menu so i had to reinstall the game

you know, i think i can solve the problem with "What is this from" in this case the Classic 10mm Pistol and the CR-74L

and in case you all don't know about the Real World Colt Delta Elite, which is the Only pistol that can fire the 10mm Auto. which the Classic 10mm is similar to the Colt Delta Elite, because the Classic 10mm is a Colt. but it's similar to a gun of the same brand.

Now with the CR-74L, introduced as a Creation Club Creation. it's one of the most easiest things you can get in game. but did you know if you look closely at Both the Magazine and the Barrel and even the stock of the CR-74L and take a look at the Black Matte Paint. you can see it's similar to one, Kel-Tec SU-16

now for Pipe SMG and the Pipe revolver, however. if you take a look just Beyond the junky appearance of the SMG with the Mods, automatic reciever, Recoil compensating stock and Finned Barrel even a Large Magazine. you can entirely recognize that it is the Sterling L2A3 SMG, and as for the Pipe Revolver and you notice it has 2 additional alternative recievers. .38 and .308, the .308 Pipe revolver is similar to the Smith and Wesson modell 500, and the .38 version is similar to the Smith & Wesson Model 10.

I’m tryin out fallout 4 survival. I’m curious if y’all had a special setup for it or nah. I think I’ll do 7 intelligence (rare for me, I know) to get chemist so I can make my own antibiotics… but then I went 6 strength so I can get strong back and iron fist and 6 charisma for lone wanderer and Local Leader and 5 endurance for aqua girl (swim in water) and 4 per for lockpick then I had 3 agility for stealth. - Is this a good enough build? I also plan on having a silent sniper for them long range kills.

You know what i just learned, that if you mod the fallout 4 guns that look closely to Real life guns and name them after real life guns, then you're playing with real guns that look like guns in Fallout 4, like if a 10mm Pistol has a Large Magazine with a Sharpshooter's grip and surpressor even a Automatic reciever, your shooting a Mac-10 that looks like a 10mm Pistol

Maybe. The more militant BoS leaders seem to decide that everyone except them should be denied access to almost all tech. Which they then hoard for themselves just like the Institute. Some leaders want to help, some want to ignore the suffering of the world to "save" it. Hey, people with just clubs and bows can't start another nuclear war, right? The minutemen aren't strong enough to stop a bad BoS leader.

Even the Minutemen are a response force - they don't make a move against threats unless they are asked by a settlement to do so.

The BoS sends out patrols to deal with threats on an ideological basis.

They just get a bad rep because of Teagan (who isn't big on rules unlike the rest of the BoS) and because most wastelanders are ignorant of their mission.

I have just decided to play fo4 after taking a break from playing it for a while (I’ve been playing fo4 and Skyrim since they came out) and have noticed they changed the ai of all enemies to make kiting impossible which has been a standard method used in many rpgs for a long while I absolutely hate this change. I step onto a car to avoid getting hit and the enemy runs for the hills until my boot hits the ground again. Don’t know how this “improves gameplay” but whatever on that. The thing that I really hate is I’ve been playing this came since it dropped and I’ve played multiple playthroughs with all the DLC’s installed and never before did I get bombarded with quests. I like to have a clear quest log at all times, I will legit run in Skyrim if I’m starting to hear npcs talk about a quest I don’t want to do yet to keep my quest log clear this is how I have operated in playing these games for a decade. What purpose does now requiring me to uninstall and reinstall DLCs that I have been playing for years with no issue, and bombarding me with stupid quests have. Does this add to gameplay somehow if it does it certainly doesn’t add to my playing experience. I will now only be buying discs for pc and keeping original DLC files so when I decide I like a game and want to keep playing it I can continue to play it the way I like.

I use the old version through GOG and turn off auto-update. Mods work, no new pile of bugs that will never be fixed. It's apparently possible to "downgrade" the Steam version and break steam updates (see the Fallout London discord or Google it)

Things like Tale of Two Wastelands and Skyblivion require owning the original game and they copy data from it into the new game during setup. That's different legally and ethically from shipping a mod that includes those assets. Even for that approach Nintendo would sue you into skyblivion for trying it, BGS is just more relaxed.

When I launch the game through the default launcher, it only loads the base game — none of the DLCs are recognized, even though they’re installed and enabled. If I bypass the launcher and run Fallout4.exe directly, all the DLCs load correctly... but then Steam achievements stop working, which is a dealbreaker for me. Hmm. So I would recommend vortex because idc what people say its better than mo2. If i remember correctly you have to show vortex your fallout.exe file. It should load your mods if it doesnt download them again. another thing to look for is f4se (fallout 4 script extender) i think the xbox version doesnt have f4se compatibility but steam does. Depending on what mods you have it might disable achievments.

Hey @SillyWabbit, thanks for the tips — but just to clarify, I’m not using any mods at all. I’m trying to play Fallout 4 vanilla through the Xbox App on PC, with all DLCs installed, just to go for the full 1000G achievements.

The problem is:

If I launch the game via the official launcher, it only loads the base game. The DLCs don’t show up, and the game gets buggy — like stretched textures in Diamond City, especially around the radio guy’s house.

But if I run the game directly through Fallout4.exe, everything loads perfectly — all DLCs, no bugs.

However, launching it that way disables the Xbox overlay, so achievements don’t track. No pop-ups, no progress — which defeats the whole point of going for 1000G.

I’m not trying to bypass anything or use workarounds — I just want to play the game normally and earn achievements like it’s supposed to work. It’s frustrating that the launcher breaks the game, and the direct .exe breaks achievements.

Still hate the mechanic design of feral ghouls in 4 and 76. Just lock on hover tanks with a knife on the barrel that just slide on the navmesh and only play animations to look like they are moving.

Wiki says that other merchants sell it rarely.
Also, it's just a named submachine gun with the explosive legendary effect. You can definitely get something similar as a legendary drop, but you'll be playing the RNG game - the odds are very slim.

The assault rifle is almost bearable once you slap the level 4 barrel on it that’s a little smaller. But it’s still such a shame. I just use the laser rifle since it’s basically the only US Army rifle now. Maybe FO5 will add a good assault rifle again.

4. Neither side are truly good or bad
5. Show off the developed nation being relatively comfy
6. No one living in rusted out shacks that have never seen a broom

Since the next gen update the mods menu is screwed up, you'll constantly get "operation cannot be completed"... on Playstation, you just have to keep opening the mods and hope it stays open long enough to install mods and arrange them, the time it stays open is of varying time lengths...
After 4 hours of this nonsense, I was able to install and arrange 99 mods.

Are you talking about long loading times when changing maps? Sadly that's normal though the mods Buffout and High FPS Physics Fix can help. For other problems, maybe try changing the screen resolution to 1080p?
