2nd session of my Fallout D&D game just concluded. My players met Trashcan Carla, Trudy and her son Patrick, Wolfgang, and unknowingly met Deacon

I had to improvise a few Raider NPCs and had to come up with names on the fly. Ended up deciding to name all future Raider NPCs after metal bands. Today they met Motörhead and Metallica.

They just crossed the Charleston by being smuggled in a boat captained by the Railroad, only for the boat to be hijacked by raiders from the USS Riptide. They killed the hijackers right before the boat crashed into a Boston floodwall. Next session is gonna start off with them trying to save as much sweet loot as they can before it all sinks.

About water purifiers in f04; Does anyone know with absolute certainty that water purifiers inevitably get damaged during a settlement attacks even if they are off the ground and completely protected encased by full size concrete foundations? I wonder. I could swear that I had some pretty well protected purifiers and an attack happened, I sat with my purifiers and it didn't look like they were hit at all, but once the attack was over, they shut off and spewed smoke needing a repair! 😫
If they do take damage regardless of how well defended, I would like to find a mod that turns off damage for purifiers, generators and crops. Sick of repairing.

They "tied" radiation to the special big ghoul (not Maypole big, but big), which you need to kill with special bullet(s). Quest complete, rad is gone. Though, I don't remember about rad fog.

So many things can affect it such as settlement attacks if someone was unalived. Codsworth and robots do not contribute towards happiness. Your settlers will miss you if you don't visit often and be disappointed if you are not there during an attack. Beds must be under a proper roof. Angled roofs do not count unless they are directly under the lowest slope. Be sure that every settler has an assigned bed. If a bed is not claimed, than settler stands up all night which brings down happiness.

OCDecorator takes all the items you can pick up in the game and puts them in the workshop so you place them from the workshop and they can't move.. Bottles, baskets, plates, etc..

So you can't knock them over by accident

But that's one of those things that should have been in the vanilla game from the start.. 😄

Only cheat mod I use is all weapons, armor, etc... Is in sanctuary cellar, just so I can start with the weapons and outfit for my roleplay.
Everything else is to improve survival, make it harder,and QoL.

I was attempting to work on some mods to add cellular automata to the game to make survival better but ehh.. I don't think it's gonna work.. lol the best mods for it are Horizon, Frost survival simulator and faction control/war mods like warlike and conqueror and sim settlements

The game is already made of a cell based world grid which is what is needed for Cellular Automata

For Cellular Automata you have to treat each cell as 1 Cellular Automata element..

And track cell states using a 2D array

Imagine radiation slowly spreading from nuked zones or irradiated creatures across a grid based map and you would have to clean it up with tech or decontamination tolls, reclaiming safe areas over time.. That's what Cellular Automata is.. It would be like having a artificial life system..

I doubt that. Buildings can be entered in the Elder Scrolls games. Only in the Fallout games do we see a large percentage of boarded-up buildings. This suggests that boarded-up buildings in the Fallout series is a design choice.

Just save(quick) every 15 - 30 minutes or so, if the fps starts dropping, it will probably crash soon.

If your on no mods survival, there are beds, mattresses, sleeping bags everywhere, you'll eventually memorize where they all are.

Download it manually, open the file, put the launcher in your main Fallout file on your drive on steam or whatever and load the game with the F4SE launcher..

Fallout 4 script extender kinda broke with the next gen update and it was never really updated

It does not, no. Fallout 4 gives you experience for discovering locations, completing quests, killing enemies, and more.

There's like 1000 different buildings and plots if you get the addon packs and even full city plans.. And there is custom quests involved, custom npcs and its fully voice acted

So you probably have the DLC but gotta hunt down the magazine for the armor paints (I think)

Nuka-World and Far Harbor both introduced armor paint schemes

Minutemen, Railroad and Military should already be there in the base game if the DLCs are installed..

One of the Hot Rod magazines is near sanctuary at the Robotics disposal ground

So they're there, you just have to find the magazines and unlock them..

Pick up as many as you can carry while looting enemies.

Personally just pick up high value weapons and all ammo, only armor pieces I pick up and sell are legendaries I won't use.

Hi all. 1st time player. I didn't understand the level up mechanism and maxed out the entire top row 🤦 you might have seen my recent post on Reddit. anyhow, again this being me 1st time playing, I've gotten to the point where I have access to the Institute, The BoS, The Railroad, and The Minutemen. can I continue doing missions for all of them or will my companion eventually leave if I don't choose a clear path? or will I eventually get into a situation where I have to pick a side in a battle?

Yes there is an eventual point where you do have to choose one of the 4 paths. Not sure what that point is...sorry...and as far as I know the companions won't actually leave you...but I'd definitely say there's ones that fit better depending on which path you choose. I chose Hancock this time and the minutemen myself

At certain points with the different factions you have to make a choice that will make other factions hostile to you...some companions will turn hostile aswell.

There is a way to have a 3 way peace, there are plenty of guides and YouTube videos on this out there.

The game definitely leaves it on the table with some of its dialogue options. The Brotherhood doctor asking you if you’ve ever been sick has some really weird responses including “never” and “I don’t remember” both of which are… like… impossible right? But other than that, you’d have to assume an unreliable narrator, and you’d have to assume that Shawn’s dad/mom died, and the one you play as was dumped in the vault freezer… it’s pretty elaborate. Shawn was going through a lot of trouble just to prove a point if that was the case.

Gunsmith, or you can buy/find .44 and remove advanced mods from them by replacing them with basic mods, then put those advanced mods onto Kelloggs pistol

Anybody know the best way to farm Rust Devils for Heavy Robot armor? I had Ada + 5 other Automatrons stationed at Red Rocket for them to spawn but unfortunately the spawn rate there is a lot lower than I thought..

Just keep playing... The spawn rates of rust devils is rediculous once you start the dlc... Go to random event locations.

An easy spot is the bunch of ruined houses near Hangmans Alley, keep waiting 24 hours to get new random event spawns, works better if your outside the cell when advancing time, walk from Diamond City.

It's just that once you start the Automatron dlc, the rust devils spawn constantly at random event locations.

An easier way is to do the repeatable radiant quest to locate hostile robots.

The Winter of Atom source book for the fallout ttrpg describes the hidden settlement of Beatsville which is a commune of sculptors, painters, and musicians who’ve taken up residence in an abandoned junkyard.

I think it’d be an interesting place for my players to meet to man who’d end up becoming Pickman. Pickman’s paintings look like something the town of Beatsville would produce and the town’s mantra is “Creativity at all costs”

I think settlement building is a novel idea which in game manifests as bland, borderline logistics tycoon mechanics. Not great Role Playing IMO. Completely different than earlier entries.

Not a replacement for fully fleshed cities with lore, NPC, quests, etc. And the shooting galleries that litter boston are not a replacement for interesting faction locations which fo3 was actually full of unique faction locations

I just finished reinstalling Fallout 4 and 16.71 GBs of mods from the Bethesda.net tab in the game, and when I go to boot up a new game, it just gets stuck on an infinite loading loop, I don't know if I should try to disable or delete a few mods, or if there's a specific mod causing this, or if it's just too many mods for my Laptop to load

Try disabling the mods first. if it works, put them back one at a time time find the culprit.

I decided to run another Fallout D&D campaign set in the Commonwealth but this time it's set a year after the events of Fallout 4

They decided the Brotherhood ending was canon and that the story is centralized around the fog engulfing Far Harbor and acting even stranger than usual and expanding across the Northeastern Coast.

It's causing sea creatures to mutate in strange and twisted ways and making them attack the eastern seaboard. It's super easy to slot in story elements from Winter of Atom making the expanding fog a product of the Last Son of Atom and his dealings with eldritch beings/

Gonna stage the Battle of the Castle 2. This time the Mirelurk queen is accompanyed by fog crawlers

Starting from scratch is the best way unless the list has 100% of the things you want.
I play with a very lean mod list that keeps the OG spirit/feel of FO4, but makes it better. If on PC, Beth Pie (formally BethINI) is a must.

My fallout dnd session with Kobe Bryant and synth Malcolm X went really well believe it or not. It was about rescuing a large group of prisoners who were the captive audience of a Raider sponsored basketball game.

As Kobe made the final game winning shot, that was the signal for Malcolm X and a small squad of Black Panthers to move and take down the Raider guards before they could call in reinforcements.

All hell broke loose and it was a 2.5 hour long combat session with multiple objectives, lots of close calls, all 3 of the nameless Black Panther NPCs dead, and 10 out of 12 prisoners rescued.

I modeled the battle map after the basket ball court in Lexington. The buildings surrounding it brought a lot of great verticality to the fight while the tight spaces surrounding the court provided an intense ground fight.

Hey what's a good romance option for an institute run?

During my current playthrough of FO4, I came across a curious bug and was wondering if anyone else had encountered it. During the questline for Vault 88, when it came time to interview the test subjects, the second settler would just run out of the vault while I was interviewing the first one, although I didn't notice it at first. This caused the quest to stall, as there wasn't a second settler to interview anymore. Luckily, I had saved just before doing the quest, so thinking something hadn't loaded right, I reloaded the save and tried again. This time though, when interviewing the first settler, I can clearly see the second one just take off running out of the vault. And again, the quest stalled. Reloaded for a third attempt, but this time before talking to Barstow, I closed the main vault door (let's see the guy run off when there's no door to run through). Interesting enough, during the first interview, I can see the second settler attempting to flee again, but because the door is closed and the bridge is retracted, they are just running in place. After completing the first interview, the quest proceeded as normal, I assuming because the second settler was still in close proximity. Just curious if anyone else had seen the guy take off like someone was trying to kill him.

Several companions will express interest in or even favor the Institute depending on their individual beliefs and motivations. Curie is among those who are more likely to be positive or at least accepting of the Institute's actions or ideals.

the Fallout4/Data folder that one, look i play on Xbox Series X but i mod and port for it on my PC, i never downloaded a mod off of Bethnet on PC(not for awhile atleast)but since my Fallout4/Data Folder is filled with esp's and Ba2's from mods i cant enter the mod menu on PC like the bethnet one

It's been this way since the next gen update,the mods menu is screwed up, still waiting for an update we don't know is ever coming.

You just have to keep trying to download and install mods, and hope the menu stays open long enough.

Question: in Fallout 4, if I use the minutemen to get into the institute, can I still follow through with the BoS questline? I’m trying to figure out a way to keep Paladin Danse inside of the BoS without completing the Minuteman ending.

You can use the minutemen or any 3 factions to build the relay and still complete the story with the BOS
