Boy this is painful, I’ve been waiting years for this next gen update and it’s nothing but crashes and bugs!! Bethesda doing what they do best!!

Runs great, I've had 3 crashes in 80+ hours. No mods. Survival.
You probably know how much the ps4 version would have crashed by now in that time.
Same, quest, npc, world, etc... bugs exist in the ps5 version that were in the ps4 version.
So I'm sure the unofficial patch will fix the issues, same as ps4, as far as those kinds of bugs go.
Overall it performs 100% better comparatively.

I’ve never actually beat it, F4 was my first fallout and only bout NV and F3 when they went on sale. A bit hard for me to get really deep into them since they’re quite dated by now!

Yeah, I was doing quality/visual at 60FPS, but saw a video that theorized with that combo it was prioritizing FPS over video quality so I lowered it to the 40FPS option

I have a save file where I sided with the brotherhood and what I consider my main savefile, but I want to collect all of the achievements and that requires other factions I cant join because they are dead, if i create a new world will it wipe my old one? like on the new world I save a certain amount of times will it push my other save out?

No, each Character is saved as it's own set of saves. I don't believe there is a hard limit

No so long as you have a save file for that character you’re fine to hit new game and start another file separate from that play through

And I can't see where these options are located in the main menu? Playing pc and I checked the little box menu that comes up after you double click the game to launch and the main menu in game and could not see the framerate setting. Can anyone screenshot where it is?

Not really hard to figure out what was done. In Bug Fixes what doesn't say Xbox, PC, PS5 and MS Store as those are specific problems addressed to those platforms is what the PS4 got and the CC fixes.

There are some good mods, for lighting, that fit well with HDR:

Side Node: I do amateur graphics coding, and to mod a game and change its lightnig, is a VERY fancy coding job, I wouldn't know how do it, unless ofc, there is an easy interface for it.

Rifleman on the other hand starts ignoring armor on level 2, level 5 is just crazy how much damage output you have

There are lots of perks that can increase the amount of weight you can carry, specially in the Strength column (every point you add to "Strength" itself will increase carrying capacity in 10). The "Scrapper" skill, in the Intelligence column, will give you the ability to yield other more rare materials when you scrap weapons.

But really you don't NEED any specific perks, just whatever your build uses, what works in the main game for you, will work in the dlc's.

endurance is only good on builds involving radiation, most of the perks are really bad (+10 damage resist on end 1, +10 rad resist on end 6, cannibal is really bad and most companions dislikes/hates, chem resistant can be nuliffied with radscorpion omelette or addictol, lead belly is probably the worse perk in the game)

Hey all. I had a chance to test out the latest patch on Xbox Series X last night, and noticed that while Quality Mode (or Prefer Visuals as it's now called) finally works, the game's mid-level draw distance has been reduced to PlayStation levels.

The previous night I made it up to the top of the Core Vega Factory and looked out over Lexington, this is an area Digital Foundry has oft used to test the game's draw distance on various PlayStation and Xbox consoles.

I noticed however that it was showing a lower draw distance than even the base Xbox One (it was down to base PlayStation 4 levels here). I was surprised as I thought the original Next-Gen Patch was using base Xbox One settings on Xbox Series X.

In the new patch, the game appears to be running PlayStation 4 Pro-like settings. Preferring Visuals has the far draw distance come in, but mid-draw distance is still absent.

I then went back to my Xbox One X, which had full draw distance, but that has changed as well and is now also at PlayStation 4 Pro settings.

Is there anyone else on Xbox that's noticed this?

So yeah, the good news, "Quality Mode" now works on Xbox Series X|S. The bad news, at least in terms of draw distance, it's PlayStation 4 Pro settings on both Xbox Series X|S and on Xbox One X, which is a downgrade.

Yes. All PlayStation versions of the game have always lacked that mid-draw distance for some reason. On PlayStation 5, while Quality Mode originally "worked," it was not ultra settings as advertised. It was PS4 Pro settings for draw distance and shadows.

Keep in mind, on the original Xbox One X version, the visuals were better than all other last gen versions, and the current gen versions of the game. I say "was" because it appears they downgraded it as well, from my testing, which is odd.

• 120fps+ monitors and SSDs are becoming super common among PC gamers
• Bethesda is multi-million dollar company
• Bethesda is now pushing this as a 'next gen' update
  ...Should we have to limit to 60fps to fix desyncing/overlapping NPC conversations, while also having to use a load accelerator mod to fix looooong loading times that are bound to FPS? @native anchor I apologize for the ping, but I'm curious what the proper process is for reporting these bugs as a new player who just bought Fallout 4? 🙏❤️

They did an analysis of PS4 Pro and Xbox One X back when those updates dropped.

For the original Next Gen Update, they looked at the PlayStation 5's Quality version and stated it was not Ultra Settings, but in-line with PlayStation 4 Pro settings.

In terms of the current patch, overall, it does look like Visuals at 60 FPS is the way to go.

I neglect strength early because I use codsworth/dogmeat as pack mule and I have backpack CC item (some people consider as exploit, I like backpacks). With this build you can do water purifier farms and settlements, stealth rifleman/commando with no vats and I focus in getting Splattercannon from Nuka World DLC

@still crescent Commando build after you do some purified water farming is very smooth imo, only problem with commando is ammo consumption which can be nullified (selling water). First 10 levels:
1: Science! (so you can make industrial water purifiers asap)/ 2: Scrapper (breaking weapons and armor = +++ screws, aluminum and copper to make more water purifiers) / 3 and 4: hacker or lockpick (+ loot and exp) / 5: cap collector / 6: commando (at level 6 it will probably appear one weapon which is automatic for you) / 7: gun nut / 8 and 9: sneak / 10: 2nd level of lockpick or hacker

The next levels is up to you, don't forget these essential perks:
Level 11: commando level 2
Level 13: gun nut level 2
Level 14: local leader level 2 (you can put stores and sell inside Sanctuary, increasing your ammo and caps)
Level 17: lockpick level 3 (you can unlock everything in the game = + loot and exp)
Level 20: cap collector level 2

I highly suggest you download the “holotape of quest fixing-Nuka world” mod. It’s the same mod I used to fix the grand opening quest.

It's the Creation Engine that's the root of the problem. Swapping out the engine is a difficult but not impossible task. An open source Godot based engine would be perfect since I could get a native Linux client, but using Unreal or Unity would be massively better.

Yeah, try running it in some version of Windows compatibility mode, Windows 10 or 7. It sounds like the drop from the pre-made video to the game engine kicking in was borked and is not like what Windows 11 is trying to run it as, DirectX/OpenGL/or whatever they're using in that version of Windows.

Fixed up that building in bunker hill behind the tall structure somewhat and put stairs going to the roof and build a 2 story house (mod: Snappy Builds) on the roof. Via console command I made Shaun a settler and moved him to bunker hill and now Piper, Shaun and myself are relaxing in our new home.

One thing I didn't realize until recently was just how evil the Institute was.. Shaun "Let me show you you got the wrong idea about us" or however he said it was a lie to get you to join them. They have done some very evil thing, but not everyone there was evil just the leaders mostly

you can also target door in console and do Lock but they kept glitching through for some reason.

Well, i attempted a bit of a melee survival start and quickly abandoned it lol. It's just so rough, it forces you to play super carefully and try to draw guys out. Even with power armor you get shredded rushing in.

so basically every pre-war checkpoint and some places will have patrols, Diamond city will get gen 2 synths patrolling and the institute flag will be there in the middle of the city. I don't remember about minutemen or BoS inside diamond city but they will protect checkpoints

Railroad after completing main quest is basically a pub to drink with friends, there's nothing to do anymore after blowing the institute and bos

If you control all settlements there's a chance for the BoS attack your settlement demanding food, if you attack they will consider you enemy and Preston will tell you to use artillery on the Prydwen

Any console mod will disable achievements. Think it's because you can get cheat mods to breeze through them and I don't think they have a system to see which parts of the game the mods change so they went for the easy rule of no cheivoes with mods.

If you're talking about the NPC called The Scribe, there's no definite way to find him as far as I know, he's a random encounter. I've only just ran across him for the first time last week since Fallout 4 came out LOL. Might have to find his possible routes then load up Quick Saves to keep trying.

Yeah, I saw that comment on youtube. I think it's just the way the engine is. When they designed the cells for some reason they decided to make the texture load/unload right at the top of the towers at the factory.

I wonder if you could open that area up in GECK and see where the cell boundaries are?
