i think its not so black and white, it's not like things would have been a utopia w/o the institute but it for sure sabotaged efforts to make the commonwealth more livable imo, and i enjoy playing in and developing that lore regarding technology held by an elite few giving scraps to the rest of the public (much like the brotherhood) keeps the commonwealth from making any meaningful progress on its identity or culture

as far as i know, there is a game breaking bug for the xbox where green glow freezes up whenever it hits synths/supermutants and i dont know why, the glowing green storms also do the same problem as the other 2 and i dont know how to fix it/find mods to fix it

you have to assign a settler to run the supply line from the build menu

when you assign the settler it will ask you what settlement you want them to walk to as your supplier--each settlement that's connected by a supplier will have access to other connected settlements build materials

ah, you also need the local leader perk to gain access to the mechanic

Don't expect to see the same items of junk in the workbench at a supplied settlement as in another that is linked when you access the workbench inventories. While crafting at a station (armour, weapons, chemistry or cooking) the recipe will automatically break down any item in a linked workbench for the components needed if they are available.

For example you may not have any springs or an item that breaks down for that component in the workbench at the settlement you are crafting at, but if there is an Alarm Clock in a linked workbench it wil break it down from there and make the recipe available where you are.

Hi! I'm looking for gauss rifle. I'm 39 lev. I checked in flight 1981 and diamond city vendor, but there are no gauss guns. I know in later quest there appear some gauss rifles. Castle vendor didn't activate and she doesn't sell anything.
Some advices?

oh well i just reached level 25 and im doing well off without the gauss rifle so if you really want it recommend going to glowing sea and hunting for legendary radscorpions

these mostly dropped some high level guns

but things like Legendary Raiders/Ghouls are most likely to drop Legendary armor pieces/low level weaponry with a nice effect

if the location has a cleared signed on it when on the Map, it means the enemy won't spawn there anymore, with exceptions being enemies near the place but that won't remove the cleared sign

I’m trying to make a standalone power armor with a custom mesh and textures. When I try to spawn it in-game, it shows up as X01 Power armor, which is the power armor I used as a base. I have the meshes for the Object Mods set up in addition to keywords. Any tips?

quick question: I have all 6 DLCs and I’m building some barracks right now but I can’t find bunk beds in the Workshop even though I’ve seen bunk beds in some places throughout the map. Does the workshop just not have bunk beds?

Hi, I received an automated warning from a bot and am aware of a terrible mistake I believe was the cause.
I'm a senior citizen and my eyesight is failing, I believe I used an inappropriate emote when adding a reaction to a few comments. I used the 'middle finger' one where instead I meant to use the 'point' one to signify "this" as in "this is the answer".

Do you have one of the RTX series of graphic cards?
If so, you can try turning off God Rays and Weapon Debris. A Google search should find you results on how to do this properly.

Survival Runs are pretty tough at first, i recommend doing some nearby trading/scrapping and make a living off of selling fruits/vegetables and get some serious equipment like some more Hunting Rifle ammo and all

You should probably disable all your mods, start over, and then after you exit the Vault save manually.... that way you have a clean out of the Vault save. And don't overwrite that one... however some mods do require you to have it on a fresh startup/new game....

People have different tastes and there's nothing wrong with that. Don't feel like you have to force yourself to get interested in Fallout 4. Gaming shouldn't feel like work. A game that appeals to one person is not necessarily going to appeal to another person. Speaking for myself, Fallout 4 is my favorite Fallout game in the series but I was never able to get into Fallout 3. That's just how things are sometimes. 🙂 .

I've got turrets all over with everything open. Sanctuary hasn't been hit yet. I'm currently working on unlocking my other perks so I can have a caged death claw for base defense 🤪

Yeah, so it's wildly different. Instead of getting skill points and a perk, you get a single perk point, which you can either use to unlock a perk, that may increase a skill or give you new abilities or passive perks or whatever, or you can use that perk point to increase a stat. So if you increase your strength, obviously you get to carry more, but you ALSO get an increase in unarmed and melee. It's kinda weird, kinda useful, kinda takes away from the RPG aspect though because there's also no level cap anymore

Yup, only problem is that as you get to higher and higher levels, it becomes A LOT harder to level up. It starts taking a lot more XP to get to the next level to the point where grinding is just not feasible. Also, its been awhile since I've played, but if I remember correctly, there aren't really skills anymore. It's just the perks at that point. I know for strength, increasing strength will increase your base melee damage, not sure by how much though, but there's a strength perk that you can put points into that'll specifically increase your melee damage and ONLY melee damage by like 5% or 10% per rank. It's kinda hard to explain in just a single message, it'd be easier to see for yourself or show you

There are certain things you can miss if you don't aim for them from the beginning, but learning about them will include some spoilers, so perhaps just go into your first playthrough completely blind and have fun and then next time you can look up all the min-maxy secrets and "optimal" ways of doing things

So quick question real quick... My baseball bat does 538 damage. I just got the Power fist off of the Swan. Why does it only do 66 melee damage? My bat is chain wrapped and aluminum but i still think something is off here.

Not that I'm aware of, sorry. That's seriously a shame because the over 500 damage bat sounded pretty nutty. Maybe it was just a glitch that even let itself get that high to begin with and changing weapons corrected it?

If the Institute could actually be reformed, they'd be the best bet for humanity. The BoS in FO4 is essentially fascist. Do your playthrough with them once, but move on. The railroad is unnecessary if the Institute is destroyed, possibly. The minutemen are just the people, warts and all. I suppose you can tell where my loyalties lie.

I always try to max out my specials first, so I can get the bobble heads and have 11 in each stat. Granted, without xp grinding that can be tough/tedious since you ignore all other perks while taking all those levels

@deft thistle definitely make use of the strong back perk, and the perk for better shop prices. If you have any luck points, invest in some the of scrap and ammo perks too. And a companion tip: Dogmeat is not considered a companion, so you can have dogmeat with you and can still use the Lone wanderer perk for damage resistance and more carry weight.

I would work those before any weapon perks. Yes the game will be slightly harder for combat, but it's better for the long run

BoS and Railroad are opposed. Because of the BoS inflexible and frankly fascist opinions on synths, they will destroy the railroad if you side with them. Before the end of the main story, there will be a point of no return where you are asked to destroy one or the other by the relevant party.

If you just want to bump a few levels, build a settlement up. Everything you craft, build, and scrap gives xp. Having the settlement up can give unlimited caps later. If you're not to 15 yet, like....literally run through Boston. Every location you discover will also give xp, and there's tons of enemies and side quests throughout

I'd say it's somewhere in between. Both games can be considered good and enjoyable, but one has more longevity. Plus is the headline about the first one or the second one? That could be important because it seems inevitable that the first one would have a dwindling player base because they moved to the second, whereas there isn't a Fallout 5 for people to move onto yet

If something's missing run around the settlement and check your settlers chances are they're probably wearing it

Never had any issue with that either. I'd recommend trying to build your own chest first and see if any settlers take stuff out of it. I'd highly advise against putting it in the workbench because a lot of weapons and clothing can still be broken down to raw materials and if you forget it's there and start building stuff, you're running the risk of turning your legendary explosive minigun into a metal wall..

Your absolute safest bet is just to buy the player home in diamond city, build a couple of chests just so you can keep your stuff organized, (armor/clothing, weapons, aid) and store your stuff there. If I remember correctly though, you should be able to store stuff in chests in the world as long as you remember where it is. In that case, I'd recommend building a chest at the Red Rocket right next to Sanctuary and just make sure there aren't any settlers assigned there

Always start with making sure your graphic drivers are up do date, and being sure windows has no updates pending too. Then try installing razer cortex (even if you don't own any razer products) and having it run optimization. When you play a game it will pause background services clearing up more ram for you, and resume them when you're done playing. This can sometimes give quite a performance boost. Also see if they have any recommended settings for you.

I use Razor Cortex (I do have razor products) and agree it is great for optimization. With fallout4 it free's up 1.3 gb of ram on my system.
Used in conjunction with Nvidea profile inspector and fixing the fps to 60 (incl ini tweaks, setting iPresentInterval to a value of 0 in 4 files) I get exactly that, 60 fps anywhere in game and no less than 57 in settlements I build and push to the limits with mods.

Idiot savant requires you to go a low int build and that may end up biting you in the ass if you want certain perks

Idiot savant lvl 1 has no benefit to having low int at all
the boon it gives is not powerful enough to offset the flat increase that int gives
at lvl 2 it gets weirder
Lvl 2 idiot savant when combined with a lvl 2 int is 148% xp gain
in order to match that with just raw int that would require a massive 16 int
BUT looking into the math more even at lvl 10 int it could be worthwhile (lvl 10 int is 130% gain and idiot savant lvl 2 gives you an additional 10% gain on top of that for 140% total)
but that is just if you want more xp keep in mind it does nothing else for you

Increasing the odds of getting raided? I've noticed that since I used sanctuary as a main hub, with the most materials and settlers, that it's the one that gets raided most. Places like Hangman's Alley or Red Rocket go untouched for me since I don't keep anyone or anything there. Then I also had Sanctuary fully surrounded with a wall with only 3 entry points that was covered but guards with miniguns and turrets.

I don't go inside the Museum of Freedom in most of my games. Other times I do accompany the survivors to Sanctuary but then leave them there, never speaking to them again. The great thing about Bethesda's games is that they almost always allow us to do what we want, to tell our own stories.

You probably don't have a manual save before correct? That would be the best thing was to revert to a save before... the absolute best thing to do with Fallout 4, turn off all Auto Saves, and save manually every hour or so, depending on what you're doing or where you're heading.... Auto Saves constantly rewrite everything cuz there's only three of them. Meaning turn off auto save for everything, except for sleep or wait. But that does make you have to do manual saves before you enter somewhere new but it will save your ass if your data gets screwed up.

Well try reloading that and see if you can't get by it. But Auto saves work every time you go through a load door, fast travel and some other stuff ....and if something happens you can get totally screwed by it, before you've noticed you auto save three times and you can't revert back.

If you leave your settlement with the elevator on any other level besides the first, the elevator buttons will shift up to the level the car was left on (that level is now the "first floor" with regard to the buttons) when you return.
The only way to fix it is to store the elevator and place it again.
The only way to avoid it is to make sure the elevator is always on the first level when you leave the settlement.

I always had a problem with the Nuka World DLC. I really like the idea of it, getting to work with raiders and stuff, up until it starts affecting the Commonwealth and invades the base game. I wish it would just stay separate like Far Harbor and let me do bad things without angering good characters
