I think a pure, non-ranged melee fighter is reasonable... until you fight freaking dragons that harass you with their breath while they're midair.

But there is more to it than that. There is, to me, something grand and majestic about being an archer. lol. It's hard to explain, but some of the greatest armies in history had great archers. Think of the Mongols under Temujin (Genghis Khan). I think it is just as noble as the cavaliers.

Yeah, dragons are so annoying I tend to run padt them as they're everywhere to the point of two being within view once or twice.

For me, bows were kept around for a reason, since those who used them were less likely to die than a melee fighter at least in general and that's translated over to videogames.

I'm closing in on level 80 for my character's archery skill. I'm just excited to hit 80 so I can buy the 5/5 base perk which will officially double my damage.

I wanna get bullseye too, which is the top-of-the-tree perk. But that one is a long ways ahead.

I reccommend doing the Dark Souls thing of breaking the sliders by sliding opposing ones back and forth then pushing them in the other, desired direction to get the slider out further than the game intended. Very useful for making a Nord a skull for a face or giving your Argonian a spike on his snout.

At the moment, not many, at least those that have been uploaded. I was working on making customised stuff for my characters, such as a heavily damaged/cursed Akaviri Katana for one and a suit of enchanted Palace Guard armour hidden around the Imperial City by its previous owner for another but then my computer's motherboard was damaged back in January and I can't get it fixed because of how things are nowadays.

I was doing a lot more for Kenshi honestly but that game has so many engine limitations it's mind boggling.

This screenshot channel has gotten me thinking about the progression in graphics in Bethesda games. I went back and played some Oblivion, and then some Morrowind, and even with some texture enhancement mods for all three games, I'm amazed at 1) how good-looking I thought their graphics were at the time, and 2) how much better every new game has looked.

Switching back and forth between all three games, it's pretty clear that Oblivion visually was built on the same graphics engine as Morrowind (even if much of the back-end needed to be rebuilt for consoles). The character animations also looked very similar. But Skyrim was an enormous leap in quality beyond Oblivion.

Setting aside Fallout 4 for the moment, I can't help but wonder: is it even possible for the look of the next TES game (or even Starfield) to be as much of a leap beyond Skyrim as it was from Oblivion?

I've never had it glitch out, though some of them aren't easy to hit like that. I do like that for speed, though only when I'm in a mine that I've already cleared and plan to do nothing but mine ore for a bit. In the world, it's less appealing because of having to equip pickaxe, equip sword, pickaxe, sword, etc.

You can actually mine the ore in a mine all at once, it just requires enemies to be around, try to mine during combat at each ore vein, defeat the enemies than mine at a or vein and get all ore at once.

My newest character in over a year - Guillaume Bellamont!

I apologize if the editing in the picture looks like crap - I took this using my laptop's camera and edited it to my best to make it look better than the original

Nonetheless, I used no mods that alter face sculpting / character creation to make him - he is 100% original. The only mods I do use are the USSE patch and the subsequent unofficial Creation Club patch, the only mods I'm willing to use on my PS4 because I was, for the longest time, against using mods (literally almost 10 years, believe it or not lol)

In any case, I plan on turning Guillaume here into a two-handed Paladin tank, or a unofficial spell-knight using the steel spell-knight armor in conjunction with Akatosh's Talon from the Civil War Champions creation.

I like to call it "The Champion of the Empire" or the "Legion Champion", although I feel like I still need to work on names a bit

back story wise, I'm still kind of working on that. I had trouble for the longest time trying to figure out just a suitable last name to use until I ultimately decided to borrow Bellamont from Mathieu Bellamont from Oblivion. Whether or not his backstory will have a connection to Mathieu is uncertain, although I know that I will most likely destroy the DB as Guillaume

Guillaume isn't my first foray into this build either - he is preceded by my first attempt at this build, Marcus Carius.

Funny you mention the Cudgel, because my previous version of this character was, at least in regards to roleplaying, was actually a descendent of Falx Carius

Yeah, it made the fight between Falx and my character more interesting, especially since both of them were using two-handed weaponry.

Not to mention slightly tragic, like I was being a bit cringeworthy and hamming up the fight with some dialogue, like my character was bot happy to duel his ancestor like he did and whatnot.

Afterwards, I didn't even disenchant the cudgel - I took it back to his home in Riften and placed it on a mantle

Oh, I never disenchant that one - if I want the enchant I trawl around the blacksmiths and general merchants for a weapon with it.

Exactly what I did - I basically fast travelled around Solstheim and waited until one of the smiths carried a weapon with that enchantment

It's too nice a weapon to enchant, plus since I'm using LOTD it's got a display slot waiting for it. 😛

If only you could disenchant the Bloodskall Blade. Putting that enchant on an axe or a 1 hander would have been the best, no need for bows if your sword is a ranged weapon...

The effect doesn't work on a one handed weapon, I've tried it - the animations are missing the required events to fire the effect
To say nothing of the fact that the effect is not really an enchantment at all

I don't get how that works, the standing and sideways power attacks are in the same kinda orientations even with 1 handers. It might be possible to reverse engineer the scripts and concievably add those events to any bladed weapon. If that's the case, there's nothing wrong with only giving the effect to smithable variants of each sword out there instead of making it an enchant.

no, no, it's not the script
it's the animations
animations can send certain events, which scripts which are listening to them can then grab
however, there seems to be no one-handed equivalents to the events the Bloodskal-script needs.
All my tests to hook onto other events haven't produced satisfying results, either

I'm building a Forgotten Vale like area in ESO with a Falmer Library dedicated to Xarxes. Made a ton of progress today. There's going to be multiple paths around, and the main building is going to be on a rock outcropping that's currently only half a shell right now. Going to hide as many easter eggs in here as I can and try to fill those shelves as best I can with books, but I'm probably going to hit the furnishing limit before I can really fill the inside.

Definitely. Especially for the big properties. Smaller places, like Capt. Margaux, look a lot more lived in with 200 items.

With ESO Plus, I have 700 slots, but if I had 1000 I think I'd have enough breathing room to really make it how I want it. The notable houses should be increased to 500 base, 1000 Plus. Still keeps it in check for performance on consoles and less powerful PCs, but allows more freedom to make big projects like this
