I wish Authors would use their talents to craft original works to better the game, instead of porting in other IPs. Not many Authors working towards a united Starfield experience.

I wish there were more furnished mods for current and Creations player homes for thise who hate or are terrible at furnishing ships/homes. The Furnished Starborn Ship mod on Xbox for example hasn't updated since before the June update broke it. 😢

90% of haters bring up NG+ and its like, it was intended to be a second playthrough, not rush the game and go again. We were supposed to play the initial playthrough, then months later when we want another go without the hassle of leveling again, do NG+. But they rushed to NG+ 50 and burned out the fun.

Would it be doable to hide the HUD until you’re in combat, and then it can fade in? Or if you’re low on health just your health bar will be visible? Like Sea of Thieves?
The range is decent for starting but abysmal when you look at the hand scanner along side it. Should have added to Geology for the range and increased the "battery" usage as you ranked Geology or added weapon mods that required said perk ranks for that purpose.
Should be. Fallout 4 and Skyrim do it on console and those are on older systems/CK platforms.
Just a matter of if someone wants to mess with the HUD and do that. Probably need to make a framework for it though.

does anyone know how to extend the range when you can do a scanner spell (diplomacy, intimidate, instigate)?
If an npc completely fails to play any voicelines ,what could cause it? this is an error that appears randomly for me.
At first I had it placed in a worldspace that was NOT marked unique, then I checked unique and the voice lines would suddenly play. However now that error appeared again and I do not know why.
If I use the same procedure in a different esp it works.
Does anyone else experience the same issue?
Here is what I can exclude as errors:
wwise installation
wrong alias in quest
Because if I create audio logs with the same voicetype, they work.
And there is no alias errors in the quest

My custom npc will only talk if he is placed in an interior cell. If he is placed in an exterior cell hw wont talk and sometimes either disappears from view or is not there when placed. I tried it on my own worldspace and in cydonia

Any ship with the boarding ramp just behind the cockpit can cause the REV-8 to spawn in a bad location with large ships -- either clipped through scenery objects, or half-on-half off the pad and stuck in terrain making it unusable. I reported it as a bug; we'll see if it's addressed any time soon. It's potentially a problem with vanilla ships available in the game, not just player-modified and designed ships. Just spawning it halfway alongside the ship or at a designated spot out *ahead *of the entry to the pad might resolve the problem. Not sure if the spawn point is moddable or not.

Anyone have an idea of how to fix various UC security/marine/warhorse NPCs missing bodies. I've verified files. Have mods, but none that are replacers (RTM Deserter Suit and Faction Vendors Sell Gear)

Anyone know any ways to improve the performance in the creation kits ship builder? It runs at like 5-10fps and inputs don't register half the time making using it a pita. I9-9900KF, 32gb ram, RX 6700XT
How big? Once you reach a certain size /module count you drop massive frames

So if I'm understanding correctly even when he uses a vanilla piece the game is pulling and writing that data to that location? Or is it taking the memory of data from that location. (Eg I place 1 part in 1 spot and the cockpit above it.) It's writing that specific data into existence?
It's just the ship builder renderer window. Cell editor runs the same as the game does for me
The mod itself works fine if I sit through the bad performance and make the ship in the end. Just trying to figure out if anyone else knows why JUST that window would run poorly
This is basic CK setup. It won't run correctly without this process. You'll also need to create custom .ini

Well to be fair here jim a lot of these folks all had to deal with the same issue. Youre dealing with "it just works" the slogan here. While 1 thing may work for one game it's not guarenteed that's how another will work. And while I agree it should be a simple install and what needs to be extracted/unpacked should be done during/by the install that's not always the case

herm...ok figured it out. higher FPS UI mod had the ship editor as modified files. It was using those in the CK.
Removed em and it's now running at 60fps just fine

That is honestly the most common one when dealing with any replacer/addition mod. I tell folks just ignore that piece for now. Unless you're the creator have at with fixing it. Examples from xbox below

Man I gotta hand it to Gir this cheat terminal is the bees knees I was just yesterday wondering if they were going to add in the new stuff and not even 24 hours later it was added. And they even added stuff I didn't know I needed/wanted so I'm wondering if the cheat terminal will contain ship modification in size/module limit (silly ships helped with fps and load issues but the ship was too big by about 8 meters for even the biggest version)

The followers and stalkers mod shows off the extent of the AI for enemies pretty well, I just had a group chase me from the hills and into my landing area, into my ship and I had to board up the door to the cockpit and lift off and they were still in my ship fighting me as we were in orbit

I am pleased to announce that the update that my small crew and I have been working on over the past 3 months is now complete! I've now submitted the mod update to BGS and once the mod passes the quality assurance protocols by BGS the mod update will be live for PC and XBOX players. Restart the game.
It might be good idea to delete AppData\Local\Starfield\Pipeline.cache pipeline and shader cache AppData\LocalLow\NVIDIA\PerDriverVersion\DXCache as example for nvidia. This will retrigger the shader compilation but after that you still need to restart the game once.

I was wondering if anybody knows good examples of runtime character appearance editing. I was thinking of trying my hand on making enhance usable on companions and I know appearance editing is possible with console commands by copying and that is something that also Proper Companion Previews uses.
I am most concerned about polluting save files so I am little hesitant on how to go about it.

I think, not 100% certain, but you can use the getlinkedRefChain method (may not be the actual name). Take a look at how ambush robots work in the Mantis lair cell, and you should be able to do something similar for doors. I.e. first door has the terminal door keyword and you link that door to the next and so on.

Link the button to an xmarker then have all 3 door use that xmarker as an enable parent
You can also link the doors to the button using link ref and it requires a keyword Linkpress something

Hey everyone! I really need some help. I am currently working on an interior, I periodically go into the game and test as one would. Randomly one day many of my assets disappeared IN-GAME only. The same assets are just fine in the kit.
I also have a lot of warnings about duplicate form ids. I am assuming these are connected.
Another point that may or may not be relevant, right before this happened I finally uploaded the mod on beth-net. It is a private file, I uploaded it to start learning how the backend stuff works.

Hi everyone. For xbox series x starfield, how to get vehicles from mods(after you download the mod)?
You go to the ship technician and go to vehicles. But unfortunately on Xbox and with controllers you can't activate them. So I would recommend holding off on them for now until Bethesda fixes the bug. Also nice username 🙃

You can't enable them... / Use them.
I can use regular land vehicles.
To simply it:
Xbox players are out of luck on using any vehicles other than the rev-8 until Bethesda does a hot fix or a quick update to allow the mod vehicles to be activated.

I've been doing some pipework to add more details to a military outpost I'm building. Anyone got any tips on how should I go about it? Is it just tediously adding pipes all around or is there a easier way to do it?
Ok I tried the reload trick to get planets to load textures as suggested here but when it’s about to load it crashed every time..
I play with some mods and use mod organizer 2 to launch game if that helps.
Does not matter if mods are on or of as I tried a new game with all mods deleted and still happens.

Make packins of the pipes you like, then you just c+p the packins. Each new pipe config would need to be a new packin though, but at least you'd only need to do each once?

Bethesda should add Lower down platform style bays and maybe some landing gear that Drops down more then two levels, so your landing bay sort of works as a hold platform for your vehicle too
Also more capes, that way they can also add an animation of my coming dropping down on the platform with my cape flapping behind me
This happened to me once, I had to delete my saved data and restart hot quit on the dashboard for the game then it let me into creations and I had to redownload my mods

This past few days I had a couple mods I was trying to use on the red mile record where the orginal no go. And captains bounty REALLY made neon look Lil interesting in not a good way.
I would say the windows were MIA on Neons core roof and on doors going into buildings or warehouses
Thanks for letting me know. Ive talked to some people here and there that have been having this issue. It seems to be after that last update, and random. Sometimes lowering the amount of mods has fixed it, other times a load order thing. Sometimes one of my mods will be the cause, other times someone elses. It seems to be mostly xbox users effect by it ,and with how inconsistent it is, its hard to find the root cause.
The one similarity across the board is the Update itself, so Something happened on Bethesda End that Conflicted with Random mods. Or having no conflict at all.
But it is something to do with the visuals disappearing from NPC's
I had joked that Todd Wasn't happy that you guys made Companions and NPC's capable of being thick... He deemed thick to be illegal in starfeild and all must be flat lol.
But I think something in the update itself broke something in the game but it's not 100% triggered.
In my in odded version it was the texture color mostly on armor and The new Atlantis Security force had missing legs

YOu must uncheck to remove that mod. In the Load order. Then go and disable it. Exit Starfield to desktop. Log back in and test. Then make a note to never touch it again, or at least wait for an update to it.

Someone could not see foot prints. I told the person jump on top of you Spaceship and look down you will see the step foot prints. No You will not see your foot prints on the beach. Its not there yet. I think it took a year for foot prints to get seen in ESO.

It’s every game to the point that the “Skip Intro” is REQUIRED for me to do anything because after the character creation it loops back to miller asking if I know who I am
Last time I had to save, disable EVERY MOD, then load the save to progress THEN reenabled them
Is it the old version or the new version? If you switched from the old version to the new one, did you disable the old version without deleting habs built by the original mod? And if so is it the habs built by the original that are causing the crash?
Deleting mods that add build objects, without first deleting the objects built by the mod will cause this issue
I deleted the mod and re-added it but I’m now having to battle the skip into mod because it doesn’t want to work thanks to the beginning loop

Did you load the game when the original mod was disabled? If so there’s no getting around the crash issue except not touching the items that should have been deleted before disabling it. Even if you add the mod back after it won’t help

I found three items all you can do I a special reset: Resetting your Xbox x/s:
- Press and hold the [Xbox] button on the front of your console for 10 seconds.
- Once the machine has turned off, disconnect the power cord from the back of the Xbox and wait two minutes.
- Plug the power back in and wait for the power bricks light to go from White to Orange.
- Once the power brick has the Orange light, turn the console back on and try the game again
ALSO
Unplug any external hard drive and restart while it is unplugged.
This resets the Xbox device. It should free up any locked up caches or software app/Xbox sys App.
Its in Bethesda notes and Xbox resolution notes.
If this does not work. You would need to uninstall starfield and reinstall it.

Were you updating a mod, or upgrading to a new version of a mod? Not had that happen with straight updates, only when switching mods

I was updating to a newer version of the same mod.
Unfortunately, the update broke the building tool and it became a catch-22 situation. The older version of the mod was rereleased but it wouldn't solve the issue because the newer hab cannot be deleted first before downgrading. I tried deleting the outpost as well but the beacon cannot be deleted either.
I have a question about quest stages: Are they sequential, as in if a player sets a stage to 100, will every stage before 100 be also true? Or is it more like a checklist where only exact stages that are set are true?

It was an update to the same mod, it added support for color to the individual habs

Right, but that one is a new mod, in that the original one didn’t have the colors, then they released a second version that did because the form IDs got screwed up meaning it had to be a new distinct separate mod (at least that’s what it says on the two mod pages for it)

The one thing I’ve learned from having lost builds in various games is this…
Building something for the first time takes a looooong time to do because you have to trouble shoot and visualize it as you go. Find the right objects, finesse the placement etc
It always takes a tiny fraction of that initial time to rebuild, and nearly always comes out way better than the original, because all the creative heavy lifting is done
Building up the motivation to re-do, that’s the hard part, but I find if I force myself to start that usually gets me over the “wall of awful” and the rest is smooth sailing
FO76 taught me both the fear of loss is with you at every turn, and the serenity to accept that everything is temporary

No, setting a stage causes that stage's script fragment to run but previous stages are not triggered.

So my character is a Bounty hunter/trophy hunter... So It would be cool to see Mounted heads of characters from in game or just NPC's.
And For landing gear with the new Vehicles what if we got a platform Landing bay, but it drops down platform landed that comes down like three spaces. So this means we would need larger landing gears as well that drop down several spaces. But that platform area is also where your Vehicle is stored

I feel though that it more a problem with the way the mod system is currently implemented. My issue began when I did not delete an item before the mod was updated.
Now I cannot use the outpost builder to delete anything at my outpost. As soon as I open it, the game crashes.

id would guess verified creator mods tend to be separate from Bethesda's works
so yeah, most likey you need to reach out to the verified creators coz Bethesda isnt responsible for those mods that arent made by them

I'm wondering if there is a list of achievement friendly mods for Xbox x? I know that the Escape and tracker alliance vulture are, as well as the starborn Gravis suit and the miners outfit because it was listed as such. I'm trying to spice up my vanilla character without conflicting the achievements come Shattered Space.
Nothing outside of Bethesda's own stuff right now.

Mods, always come with risk, no matter how great and well done they may be, it’s the nature of the beast and kind of like “extreme” sports, you go into it with the outlook of this has a high chance of being fun as heck, but puts me at a much higher risk of breaking my arm (or in the case of mods bricking a save)
My personal approach is “keep a vanilla save, and never mod that you’re not willing to lose”

Put it higher in the load order. How many mods do you have?
Ah gotcha so put whatever one isn't working at the highest of that list. It's more than likely your mods conflicting with eachother. I use Darkstar and matilijas and wasn't having the issue you are. And dang that's a lot of mods 😅
No just put whatever one isn't working for you above the other ship mods
If that doesn't work then it might be because you have a lot of mods and hit the soft cap

Anyone know how to get recyclable workbench to work? I press "R", it reloads my gun, does nothing. I press "Space", I jump. does nothing. i am looking at the work bench (i tried all), i see the "E" popup to enter workbench, so i believe i am doing the right thing.... but it just doesnt work.

There is a soft limit on how many mods you can add. its 90.
or 80. one of the two. try disabling until you get to 89 first, if still not working try disabling till you get to 79

Im trying to setup my standalone weapons to setup custom levels for quality tiers (Calibrated / Refined / Advanced) and then on top, have legendary persk spawn on these tiers
The pics is what i have setup, however when in game and i use console to spawn a weapon, the weapon will not spawn with any quality tier and legendary perk
is there something im missing?
My character is level 35 and from what i understand, it should spawn the quality 2 tier weapon and the legendary perk with it?

Ive noticed apparel/armor with "lighting" of sorts tend to be buggy sometimes or it'll mess with the mesh
so i'm working on rebalancing ship weapons and i'm trying to figure out a few parameters in the Creation Kit -- does anyone know what "Attack Oxygen Cost" does for ship weapons? at first i assumed it was ignored because it was set to 50 for all of the weapons i edited, but now i'm running into weapons where it's set to 75 and i'm wondering if it has some effect on ship combat. (sorry if wrong channel, i'm new here.)
I haven’t touched anything to do with weapons, but I wonder if it’s tied to things like cool downs, in regular combat it’s the basically the character having a certain amount of stamina, and therefore essentially having to recharge, maybe it’s the same mechanic in weapons, like how you only have so much power, and can only blast certain weapons a certain amount of times till they need to recharge

it was a nice theory, but testing did not bear it out. weapon cooldowns/recharging are governed by a combination of the "Power" tab in the weapon properties, which controls how long it takes for that subsystem to recharge and what the delay is before recharging starts (single-shot weapons recharge continuously and quickly, auto-fire weapons recharge slowly and after a delay) and the "Firing" tab that controls the firing type of the weapon (single/burst/auto) and the ROF. i tried a few weapons with the "Attack Oxygen Cost" set from 1 all the way to 100, and it made no appreciable difference in the firing properties. maybe they planned on implementing it like you described but changed their mind. in any event, i think it's safe to ignore for now.

This explains from a technical standpoint about the overhead that putting mods in the game creates and that everytime bethesda adds a DLC it will reduce the amount of overhead available
and that the overhead space is already ridiculously low

there's a tab under the weapon properties called "Ship Weapon", and the bottom of that tab has Targeting Mode and "Attack ActionPoint Cost". so i think that's already being handled. but i'll test it later today and see if it makes any impact

Ah... I'm just starting to add a few things under outpost decorations. I just used the Bethesda plushies creation as a guide, so I have menu priority 0 and tier 0 set. Is that not the preferred way to do it then?

Honestly I'd be ok with the first and second armors without the lights or minimal lights maybe a parameters light around the helmet and basic LED lighting around the suit like the Coretech one

Nah. Respectfully, those suits are bad, even if they weren’t ai slop. They are overly noisy, unoriginal, lack function and are the complete opposite of the lore and art direction. The Starborn suits are juuuust short of that style, but that is because they have to contrast with the tech of the settled systems, and even then the designs are way better.
But it would be a good challenge to make them yourself.

So do I need a unique tab? I'm not sure how many items I'll be adding yet, but maybe 50 or so. Can I just put those into a few lists in decorations, like Bethesda did with the plushies, or is that going to cause issues for people?
@slim sun the more you add, the more cluttered the regular lists will feel. The harder to find.
OK, if it's just a matter of clutter and it's not going to cause bigger problems, I can live with it. I'll probably be putting everything into 3 or 4 lists max (maybe less) so it's not like I'm dumping a ton of items directly in the main decoration tab.

The games default Starfield.ini looks for a file called Starfield - ShadersBeta.ba2 But this file does not exist in the data folder, even after verifying the files. Is this a problem?

I think they got rid of that in 1.9.67.0. If it's not there, the game won't load it.

Please name them so everyone knows which are yours (like XF- or something..or create a category icon like the new StarGardens mod did. Just so people k ow 'what's yours' it's hard to know/remember when you've got 10 different decoration mods running.

So I've all of a sudden now can't start a new game with my loaScreen on Xbox. I get an infinite loading screen. If I go to creations I crash to dashboard. I load a save and it works until I get into a new cell then it crashes to the dashboard. Any help would be appreciated please.

Weird because after the Rev 8 update it was fine. It says it needs an update but when I update them and exit creations it hard crashes starfeild. Now I got a message that said it couldn't connect to bethesda.net servers
Honestly IV been on reddits and some of what people are saying is starting to make sense. That Bethesda uses heavily outdated stuff and their games are a bit behind compared to other devs. So they tend to have a lot of issues.

I went ahead deleted all mods...loaded my save with no mods then saved it with. I mods then re downloaded all mods from my saved Load order...doubles checked the Matilija Mod and it now doesn't say update and now loaded up into the game so hopefully it's good now

It the Matilija stuff is basically Habs are now busted
Those habs are literally a critical aspect of all my ship builds too
@dapper galleon matilija 3.01 broke his own stuff. He posted on his YT that he was working on it, like 15 hr yesterday, but prob today before a 4.0 update. Untiil then he said not to update, or load a save based on the 3.01v. I've been luckier than most I guess, I just get habs that are 'transparent through the door openings' so it looks like the habs are empty shells (but the emptyness is visible from outside). I've put off any building til his update today/tomorrow as he suggested
Well I got the Hab unwanted to work to work but Yea I think I'll just wait till he fixes it.

@dapper galleon we just finished working with TrilB on Starizon stuff. He updated so it is now compatable with other modders, like Miss O, Ram, and Skully's upcoming drop.

'But' he kept the "community categories ' dependency for his own stuff. It now has to be updated, then load First, not Last, then it plays nice.
When using LBGSHI recruit anyone to out post mod , if I recruit a generic npc eill they eventually disappear 🤔
@obtuse blaze I have not had that yet. However they 'may' try to go back k to their "primary location". So recruiting Nyssa from viewport and putting her on New Atlantis outpost...maybe. same goes fir the "summon npc" rings by LBGSHI. They do a better job in that description than I just did.

If you want a stationary npc, try Chunks Franchise mod. Buildable employee who moves but stays in 1 spot. You can change clothing armor weapon with LBGSHI 'modify npc gear'. But do not change the visual appearance or all copies will get the same change at next load..minus hair...

@obtuse blaze yeah the procgen (unnamed) npcs are 'tissue' though. Really nothing there so hard to add more actions to them . You can build all the crew you want (unnamed crew) via matilija Aerospace, I think. Also chef, bartender, security chief, security thug, plus the regular bar flies. Some work some don't, so build on a disposable base you don't play to use except for that, so you can abandon the ones that dont (LBGHSI 'erase npc' stopped working for me after last big patch update).
eurgh the loading bays are hella weird. I can try, but I'm not sure it will be doable tbh
@obtuse blaze personally I prefer 'summon npc' & "no cost creelw". Get like 3 sets of triplets into the Frontier. Akila rock girl, jemison merch girl. And your pick for #3. Lol.
@timid temple there's a few mods that do weird stuff to bays, like add different features/types, or just a 'ladder to climb into the ship. Also a few 'invisible' ones like inside the Falcon 1977 & Nubian 1999. Those might be alternatives if the actual texturing doesn't work, if someone wants to rp. Essentially just "get rid" of the bay. Lol.
i hate ladder 😿 but if it's too weird or too much headach, don't stress out, i can live with a vanilla bay, I'll just go and sharpen my claws on the developers' chairs, that'll teach them to do stuff. 😹
What would you say are the best mods that actually cost credits? For example does Starfield Compendium make sense, or does it have a free alternative? I'm on Xbox so alternatives are creations only unfortunately
That's a free/website version by the same person who made the mod I like using it. It helps me a lot in certain situations

I think if you're trying to save time and maximise results, use the existing russian rifle and make that badboi attachment. It's relatively simple in it's design. I reckon you've got that!

I have one unmodded for test purposes but I can't play without the mods.ike seriously the game for me would be so stale without them. The lack of decor and customizations .. dear God like do you know how much your walls mod has Done for me in terms of Design and creativity.
Going back to vanilla after seeing your mod and some others feels like a total downgrade at this point
There’s just no backtracking any quests etc, or branching points to jump off from with future playthroughs

I’m gonna be updating my mods as things update, but will be playing vanilla for the DLC, at least till I get the achievements. I’m gonna miss the walls till I get to that point though
