Honestly I think alot of the issues stem directly from the game itself, IV been reading alot of comments about how one person would experience one specific bug while another a different in base game.
It's like the game itself wasn't really polished and now they are just trying to jam things In there with the foundation of the game still being heavily broken
I disagree, all the people who know what they're doing don't normally have this many problems
from what I've seen. I personally never run into bugs

Best Bethesda launch by far and better than a lot of other similar scope games. I think there’s some confirmation bias to go yep Bethesda game, rather than ignore it.

I actually hated this game but after playing it and modding it I grew to love it and see it's potential hilarious contrast to fallout 4 where I wanted it and wanted to mod it and hated the process so much I never touch the game and refuse to mod it.
I wasnt playing it at launch so I have no frame of reference.
Honestly I almost dropped this game if it wasn't for mods.
I just couldn't get into the asthetic and found the story to be very interesting and disconnected overall

I still feel the NASA punk theme is some Old person aesthetic, but I'm also into the whole sci Fi Futuristic aesthetic. It's not a bad game just not something I would say is an eye pleaser for me if it wasn't for mods

I like story based games that have me very intrigued with characters and their outcomes, starfield so far has me easily forgetting most character exist.

I’ll happily take something novel like nasa punk rather than alien, star treck or star wars that covers pretty much everything else.
The other thing that gets annoying is when there is an actual bug.... you will absolutely know about and never hear the end of it until the bug is fixed
It’s not just mods, some of it is player habits which mods might alter, but. It cause the bugs, the change in player habits do

A lot of people are in denial over what a machine can do, and get stuck in a “I want all the trees, and fully exploitable planets, and hoard every item I see, and make my outposts 3 times the size they’re supposed to be, along with my 80 100m ships
Like it’s cool to want that, but unless you’re running the game on an actual NASA super computer, you’re gonna brick your save

You can do a surprising amount of decor with the vanilla game
It’s just time consuming. Like if you’re willing to collect 100 food trays and float glitch them into stairs, you can make vanilla builds that rival a lot of modded builds
I just hope the DLC brings actual stairway Habs. I mean if several modders can pull it off I don't see why Bethesda can't easily make them.

Yea nope, I use mods to remove the unnecessary time consuming, plus there is things that @twin atlas and other mods give me that not even base game could give me.
It was a design choice to fit the level of tech humanity reached.

Not now the buggy is out, it’s a bad time to be an NPC in new Atlantis
even fallout 4's npcs had issues with stairs and going up to a second floor
Inside the ships they seem to navigate them well. But they still stand in spots that block me from some paths at times
Lets be honest, if the ladder was a 1x1 separate from the habs, the games ships would have been 💯

When I first started to play starfield I was sort of hoping for something in between No man Sky and That star citizen game.
More futuristic, but also a bit wacky and fun.
It didn't scratch that itch, but it's a good time filler until October I guess

From what I was told. It's grounded more in the realism from their work with NASA when doing research etc.
That said, there is the Nova Cabot bridge that has stairs built into it. 🤷♂️

If after the update 1.13.61.0 your SFSE is acting weird and planets well have no rendering from space. on Desktop with SFSE and MO2. MO2 made a special Starfield DLL just for this update. Which resolved most of my issues. Go to the Discord Mod Organizer 2 - Dev section. The DLL can be downloaded for the current MO2 2.5.2 version.
I have a question for modders:
Would it be hard to make a mod that allows you to build a greenhouse that you can use to make crops like lemons and watermelons, ya know, food crops.

Is there any consensus on which mods/kind of mod are causing the missing hair/legs/other body part issues of this last update? I've got someone on one of my mods claiming it's the mod's fault, but I've just exhaustively checked every suit and they're all fine for me, so it's clearly some new conflict they're having with another mod that's causing it.
It would be nice to at least make a suggestion about where they should look rather than just saying "not my mod's fault, sorry."
If they are saying it's your mod on the basis that if they remove it and play on with an existing save the fault goes away, then it's not your mod. It's user error. They are testing with a save that is already broken and the update has simply exposed that.
I don't think it's the mod breaking the game, I made a new unmolded character and it's still doing it.
Whoever made the nomad armor mod and the other clothing and suit mods such as the coretech, ecliptic mercenary replacer etc deserves the little community checkmark on their work because they really cooked
Ok reloaded non mod chats trr and issue is gone. Also I deleted the mod that lets me change NPC clothes and the fixed invisible people so far has to go to work so haven't tested it out

I know when I removed one mod that lets me use a knife to change an NPC clothes and the Skill tree that lets me craft Apparel it went away but I had to leave for work so I couldn't test further

Mine worked fine with JUST the Bethesda add ons, if you have any other mods I’d check to make sure they’re updated but everything has been working so far.

ZoNE79 is awesome, im using all of his stuff. His Nomad Spacesuit is what got me into Starfield in the first place
EIT curvey mod outfits, and Enhanced gun mod lets me adjust there body a bit you have to put them slightly into the heavy
Modded Rev is basically an atmospheric flying ship
I did some tests using the Rev 9 mod by COCayneT. The invisible player bug only happened in this test for me
Also had some lag spikes but at the time I recorded this I was installing another game

This just demonstrates someone can mod in flying vehicles like small spaceships or helicopters that can be used within a planet think the idea is amazing !
It would be a good combo with no planetary boundaries and a way to load new POIs when you enter a new cell

I built a security fence around my small landing pad. The buggy pushes my ship forward on the pad and now it clips through the fence. There's no provision to sell or hide the buggy while on the pad.

With the release of certain mods using SetINIFloat, which I assume "Ship Part Merging Enabled" is doing, it's just occurred to me that someone could make a mod to allow Xbox people to effectively set all their ini values themselves. At least the ones worth changing.

I'm not sure if all of the "kinds" of glitch snaps are still possible though. We had half-snaps etc that meant things weren't aligned on snap points. Those might not be possible any more.
I've had people tell me elsewhere that their builds aren't possible even with the increased tolerences, I presume that's why.

With unloaded i mean them losing the * in the plugins file and the mods don't seem to be active.

Regardless, I wouldn't mind seeing more usage of the Terrormorphs. Like more random encounters, maybe a few random missions or so. Maybe even newer variants to really get things going. One could easily take inspiration from the Aliens series and Starship Troopers for ideas.

Anything that'll actually induce terror. My advice for the devs/modders is to go nuts! Be as punishing as you want. Don't worry about giving the players PTSD, we'll just trauma bond later. 😆

Imagine an area of aftermath from a terrormorph catching some settlers off-guard, you engage with it, find a room and close the door and then a body in the room with you just gets up and opens the door

I think this Starfield update would be a good wakeup call for modders to make more Halo mods besides Star Wars mods for Starfield, mostly because the REV-8 reminds them of Halo and the Warthogs.

A lever action blaster bolt rifle would be cool.

The best place to start is probably watching some of the YouTube tutorials. Not saying this in a blowing you off way, but an “it really is the best place to start” way
For the getting started basics Bethesda have some beginner tutorials from Skyrim that are still applicable, and explain things like what menu does what, what you need to do to get started etc
JRamosWorks has some great easy to follow tutorials too
Well I was watching some tutorials on youtube and they made perfect sense. The issue is that I would follow it to a t but some of the things they were doing weren't working for me. For example, The video I was watching was saying the first thing you had to do was create an ini file to enable modding. I followed the instructions exactly except it would only read the file I created as a text document. I tried doing what was suggested when that happens and that didn't work either

Hello, does anyone know of a way to create a new character (say with SKK Fast Start) and then unlock a mission board, like Freestar Ranger, without having to complete the quests? I was wondering if addtofaction might work, but I doubt it would be that easy? I’d like to create, say, a level 60 character for mod testing, but not have to repeat all the quests to unlock mission boards. Thank you.

I gotta say, I'm pretty impressed at how fast and how well walls fit together now. I redid parts of my old base today and it took a fraction of the time to line eveything up. They blend so much better this time around too. Tonight, I built walls into my Toyo hab and they look like they were factory installed. Awesome work!

If you’re making it in the Creation Kit, pretty much all you have to do is save it as an esm and upload it to creations

Is there a way to either clear the cache or re load mods on Xbox? The weapon skin mods I use have stopped working since yesterday, a couple of days after the update.
I had some issues what I did was savey load order press the select button hit save load order. Then delete the entire thing .. load a save without the mods... Save... Load creations and select restore load order select button again but bottom option .. then reload that same save also make sure the skins are more towards the bottom that helps too

I had to delete mods, load save make new save back out restore mods and go back in. I also deleted a mod that lets me craft clothing, but it was mostly because it was redundant as the Darkstar manufacturing lets me do the same thing

Could someone explain how packins are supposed to be used in starfield? my impression was that it is a premade collection you can place and reuse (and ungroup to rearrange per instance)
I placed an airlock packin, then ungrouped it to rearrange the parts, and now every newly placed packin of that type has no ungroup action, only a group action. Did I break something?
I went back to vectera with my esp loaded to check if airlocks that look like the packin still work and they appear to work

FWIW, I am sure there will be some kind of patch Arthmoor can put into the unofficial patch or it's something the community patch can do (when and if that ever gets updated), if Bethesda doesn't get to it sooner. :)
Besides which, both vehicle mods need a little uh... "fixing up" anyways. One has an incorrect turret placement but otherwise looks decent, and the other one... well, the mod author said they wanna improve a few things like making it colorable and whatnot. So always best to wait it out anyways. heck, the vehicles update just dropped. so give it some time. :)
If I want to fix that, how would I do that? Is there some way to edit the esp file to remove that?

Changing graphic presets affects LOD. You can't set it directly from within game. What you can do is set the ultra or high preset and then move some sliders down if you need to get more fps. It sounds like you have some non-standard ini settings anyway that should be removed.

Also check in your documents folder for ini files. Vortex creates a blank Starfield.ini in there for some reason if you're not using folder junctions. It also alters your StarfieldCustom.ini to allow loose files regardless of whether you want that or not. There shouldn't be much of anything in StarfieldCustom.ini at all - Starfield will run just fine without it.

I’m finding with the Rev-8 issues it’s tied to whatever mod or mods can capture the A or B button inputs for some reason on Series X Console. I can get the buggy with only official BGS mods active every time. 🤔😳💣 Some food for thought there. Then somewhere in my paid mods something interferes with either the A input or B. So far I’ve seen QSO mentioned in the convo so I’m going to disable it and try once more. Anybody know what happened to the Vectera Secrets mod? That was one of favorite starts and it’s gone now.?
I tested on an old save that had no mods. Added the Ship vendor mod, a mod that uses ship vendors and a couple of other mods. Was able to buy the buggy, drive it around, enter and exit okay.
I've not got any issues myself with the buggy but I'm seeing a lot of people do making me think that mods aren't necessarily the problem and that maybe the Buggy being injected now is

One mod I had an issue with is show star power on hud. That one disabled my ability to interact with the ship builder terminal.

Well there was the Rev 9 that got removed on Xbox because it didn't work and there is also the Stag. But the other ones are on Nexus and if you play with a controller on PC the Activate button doesn't work for some reason so it's something to with the Xbox controller that Bethesda has to fix or something like that

If it's the replacer (lukes car) put where you have any texture replacers, and if it's any tweaks like the turner put it near your cheats and if it's new vehicles try putting them where you put new ship parts/new outpost parts

ah. afaik, there is a bug with controller, preventing players from activating a different vehicle with the "A" button. At least, that's what is happening on PC.

I only built this ship a few days ago so I still have to reinstall the front panels. I was very lucky that I chose to do it just before the update dropped as the whole ship is made from blended parts lol.
I'm hoping they removed it only because it has to be done to maybe update the ship builder in the DLC and it will come back as a feature.

I agree. I despise when developers take away something that many people used and enjoyed. The glitch didn't give anyone any gameplay advantage so why do it? At least if there was a behind the scenes reason (like affecting future gameplay or breaking something else), some sort of explanation would go a long way. The glitch has been around for almost a year now so I don't understand the logic of removing it at this point without any reason as to why.
Right they just went and removed it without zero reason or explanation for why they did. As far as I know it in itself did not negatively impact any aspect of the game.

Every update list has the exception, like "and other" so its more than the straight 1 - 10(10 xxx) listed items. Its the unlisted changes that get us in some of the updates.

You almost need to be able to read the mod programs, in a sense, and make sure items to not duplicate a specific thing. Such as Starshards mod has been out a while and another one popped recently and the author said its based on Starshards - with same install ESM file name, the light pillar is different. but you loose Starshards mod if you install his. similar for any overwrite meshes etc, between mods.

In the way you cast spells, you could have a sword and a shield. And spells would have their own dedicated button. Just Google Oblivion Fireball spell on YouTube and you'll start seeing the similarities with how Starfield powers are cast

There's really nothing out right now that insterests me as far as mods go and Bethesda is updating the game pretty frequently. The DLC is on the horizon and more will come after. I'd rather give time for modders to cook up stuff and bethesda to add cool things.
Though if a cool weapon pack comes out or a cool suit pack then I might take a look, but so far nothing has really come out like that.

So right now I'm in between the Nomad Armor and the Coretech armor or like I wish there was a Coretech version using the Nomad Armor but without all the hoses on the suit
And unlike the glow inside the Coretech helmet. It want a hard armored look like the nomad.
Overall I really can't get into a y of the spacesuits all that well because most of them look like just fabric or Have a bunch of hoses on them

Acurus the really bright star near Cheyenne. And yes there's now an elevator hab. I recommend stairs next to it still as npcs can't use it that I know of
I'm tired of ladders, I've climbed up so many in my life that if I see them in the game I just boost pack up
Matilija, derretech, and ship extension add stairs. Use place doors yourself and the Matilija patch for it, you'll never see another ladder unless you add it
I use the Matilija Mod to give me stairs inside my ship since apparently starfeild humans forgot the tech for interior stairs
To be fair zero G would make stairs funny as a concept

I tried the gravity toggle mod but it did a weird texture thing that horrified me so I hocked it but it is a very cool mod

@dapper galleon that wouldn't be hard honestly a smiple port would be replacing the terrormorph with a xeno skin or finding a way to set it so they could have either skin (Will be buggy) as for the ship add one to any derelict or have it be a random chance encounter
I was thinking earlier that I hope at some point Beth makes non-human unity related entities, like a terrormorph starborn that talks inside your head or a cosmic whale like species that resemble a horrific bake-kujira

Ok Creations keeps saying that there is an update for mods but I have updated them 4 times already today

Ok if you delete all your mods you have to also clear your reserved space on xbox. Just clearing the reserved space will delete the mods and force you to re-download them

Yeah it usually does, if you have further issues though save your load order and then clear your reserved space. Restore the load order and that will re download all those mods in the exact same order you had them in. It's helped a lot

So it seems everything I load back into the game a random price of gear or Clothing goes invisible. I know I keep hearing it's the mods, but so far it's not any specific mod I can find. And it might be due to the update.itself because I did have it also happen in my in modded character
@dapper galleon a best bet would be to remove any modded gear prior to deletion or reinstalling or even going through unity

That looks like you have one of the curvy mods installed and it's not working correctly. Anything that overhaul too many npcs atm has been causing issues I'd recommend avoiding them for a bit

You're certainly not the only one reporting this, I've seen it mentioned all over (although it's not happening to me) and nobody has yet identified what's causing it.
It's not a issue with the meshes, the geometries haven't changed with this update.
It doesn't seem to be the mod limit issue either.

My day of playing starfeild consist of like 60% of it just trouble shooting the game.

I'm about halfway through my "no melee weapons" mod playthrough and I have to say the game feels exactly the same except I'm not looting a million random, useless melee weapons as I go. Exactly what the mod is meant to be
the alternate would be to just remove all random melee weapon loot drops from chests and just leave them in as NPC drops
A lot of people have focused more on adding new companions in seems. That and the npc gun has allowed you to completely remake them however you want to, so a lot have been content with that

Time to go play the first descendr for a bit even though I don't know how to play that game, apparently I guess you have to have specific builds and what not but it takes forever just to get one characters build plus the loot system is so weird like you have to go grind one thing which is a low drop rate then that one though allows to to earn somethid from another boss which then has a low drop rate of getting the actual thing you need.
I've been working with a computer for (existential dread amount of time) and its worked fine but that was for skyrim but I imagine anything that can run would be fine depending on the complexity of what you're making, I never installed blender or anything so I wouldn't know where to begin if you plan on touching that

Nah blender would probably be a bit much I'm not an artist. But I'm looking at skin replacers, ship Habs and such as I'm a ship builder or at least that's where I like to be the most. It's a fun game for power fantasy, oddly enough crimson desert looks like their magnum opus seeing as black desert really doesn't have to be an mmo imo, great for a solo player and if you like murdering mobs of enemies without needing much reason or depth to story as to why it's fun

The plugins in Creations are the Load Order. That controls plugins now on everything (Xbox, Desktop, Steam Deck, all of them).

When you favourite a weapon on thr D pad it doesn't have an icon
But if you click on it in inventory you can see and use it ?
Yeah I can use it, see in inventory I can even select it from my favourite bar it just is a blank space instead of showing a pistol icon

That is because when it was converted for Creations - it may have dropped the information - or the author did not add that icon in the upload. Its not a serious thing. But if you know where to notify the author you could tell them.

If you have around 100 mods (plus or minus ~20, it depends on the mods) it's too many mods in total. There's a bug in the game at the moment that causes an unintentional cap, we're waiting on a fix from Bethesda.
I desinstall like 30 mods because I was thinking about this but is still broken so I will wait for a fix
Suprisingly yes. I have the unofficial above the community though. I installed the second one the other day and the amount of lag and glitch was noticeable for me (I overly break it till it's barely running) thing started running smooth as butter

Well it seems folks have taken to completely replacing the game. Which is to be expected we don't have many games like this but we have many worlds in which space is a mainstay. I absolutely prefer astromechs to whatever bots we got here. But in due time we should see mod overhauls that more than likely replace everything like that from music to random items plus we get a better bounty system in starfield
