I need to write some documentation for the editor. In case it's not obvious, it supports simple mod profiles as well under the File menu - the idea is to store the profiles somewhere under your Documents folder. Also some "clean up" functions for Plugins.txt to remove or add missing entries automatically in the Mods menu.

I would like to use the Royal Nubian from Starwars as a complete ship that was faithfully modelled on the model. With the best ratings and for Xbox as a 4K version (could you implement something like that? ) can you contact the modder to ask him to do that?

@eager ether idk if its different for a medium master, but maybe move it up. i heard this game is really weird on the load orders. im looking over everything at the moment as well.
@eager ether load order is "bottom wins" -- i would suggest visuals tend to do better toward the top/middle
gameplay tweaks/changes should be at bottom

So there's a mod that lets you add Individual lights is there a way to add in different color ones, I want to give my room a Blue Vibe and a red Vibe. Maybe a green vibe for my ship
Only way would be the the person making the mod to release them as multiple items for each different color as far as I know

I remember SOE for FO4 had some great light orbs that added area lighting there was an marker object you could see in build mode for positioning them, but once back in game mode all you could see was the light

But it does seem to be a growing trend I noticed that Bugs tend to just go unfixed even if they are as annoying as that one
I don't like those saw them and the whole aesthetic looked depressing. Honestly I almost gave this game the boot as well if it wasn't for the modding, but fallout just gave me the depressing vibes.

go to any cell in the ck and copy the two, you should see one green box and one red box copy those
paste those over your build on the inside
then hit V, this will allow you to edit the markers
is that how i was having issues resizing if i copied them
im having issues resizing after placing in general
yea you should just hit v and it should let you make it whatever size you'd like

also the closer the light is to the center of the volume box the more that light will project out
it should light the ceiling

now, this is from experience. when I attempt to put more than one volume box in a hab it completely destroys the lighting/shadows/and cast and if you look at in-game references they only use one volume box

nah they're easy also if you hit ctrl + c then delete them then hit ctrl + shift + v it'll past them in place and reset the lighting scale so you can see what it effects

CLASS C REQUIRES PILOTING RANK 4 AND STARSHIP DESIGN RANK 4
So if you do not meet the requirments they do not show in the weapons section. until you meet these requirements.

@vast crystal What happens if I use Bard's Outpost Recruitment Beacon on a ship? Could I theoretically use it to lure people in and then use my Recruit Anyone as Ship Crew to make them ship crew?
Also, question for anyone that knows: could we create an airlock for ships that allows you to step out onto the exterior of your ship in space? I imagine you could exclude it from sandbox/NPC interaction so your crew doesn't all wander out there.
Last one for now: Do ship habs have to have matching size and dimensions between their exterior and interior? For example, could we create a hab that looks like a 1x1, but on the interior is some gigantic building interior? I know it would have limitations regarding door/ladder generation and connection to other habs, but it could still be interesting if used carefully.
(for the last two, anyone should feel free to take the idea and make a mod with it - I don't plan to make ship habs or major parts aside from small utility items like my 200 Ship Crew Slots mod. I'm just curious what our options are).
So i got a question, i don’t use many mods as I haven’t really played since CK dropped, been busy modding. I follow a few modders on youtube and am a little confused on ship mods, are matilja and derretech competitors or working together? Cause the youtube vids are not making since. Der, doesn’t talk about other ship Modders in his vids, but M said “this is a comparison my earlier cockpit i made, the derretch” can someone explain?
I'm also curious. From what I gathered (possibly incorrectly), DerreTech gave permission for others to use his work as they saw fit, and Matilija's uses modified DerreTech parts in many cases, adjusted or improved based on the author's preferences.

Could someone make a mod to fix the mission boards for Rangers or other missions boards not working unless it is on a Faction HQ or city? Since I narrowd down the Rangers mission board issues to custom perks for player.

It's a mod of weapon and any custom perks. As bethesda would say use mods at your own risk.

Kinda You have to sort of Manually guide it on there but it sticks to it. Someone added a new mod that makes the backpack holder into a hat holder and wanted to see if the skulls would mount to it.
i made a version that has a backpack holder on the helmet one too but i was still messing with it and then started this PoI stuff

Ok so I can't be the only one but I wished there were Rear and Side windows that we could attach to regular hand that covered the entire back of Side of the Ships Habs. I dislike how it leaves it sort of flat on the back

Avontech has a small panel that fits on the back of a hab I use. Its paintable too. Its either the two types of windows or the Avontech small flat panel.

It’s not the mod it’s some of other mods that alter appearance or npc that seem to conflict with it
Enhanced mirror was an. Issue now I have few second delay so might suggest looking at the mods you have on
I only really have the extra hair styles one, and the all in one companion mod that alters Andreja's walk.

The Skullys AIO is not downloaded when I stay up it's the previous one that in there,
So I have eto basically redownload it each time I start up the game.
Ok I deleted it time to see if it works
And the game crashed
Now I have to go back into creations re download the AIO Skully decor again. Check of those other mods were gone and how it loads

The npc gun is a lot easier to handle than most complicated mods

What do you mean by change 3D model? The CK has limited 3D-manipulation like scale/rotate and replace material.
Change the nif to put my weapon model instead of the tanto model like in the picture. for a rifle , i ve just to open the barrel mod, for example and change the nif, but it s not the same way for the melee. @thick plaza hi! where did you change your nif weapon in the ck for your melee weapon? 😄

Does the Load Order in Creations run top to bottom, or bottom to top?

Is that the Guyver suit
The one at the top of the list (as you see it on the screen) is loaded first, followed by the ones below it in order. The one at the bottom is loaded last. Usually.
Exceptions can occur if a creation is mastered to another one that is listed below it. The master has to load first, otherwise the game can't resolve references when it tries to load the dependent one.
If two creations try to change the same record, the one that loads later "wins".

@dapper galleon I just use LBGSHI's teleportation mod to jump directly to the Unity. Easy, peasy.
Hey, @sly ocean they are already set as Crew Members by the Beacon. So you can reassign them if you want and etc through the normal Crew Assignment screen. They are given perks when they are recruited by the beacon, but those are outpost related or combat related.
His also gave me skill points
And all I had to do was have eone skill level unlocked and his mod maxed out all the vanila skills that had a skill level unlocked

@twin atlas so Iv noticed a weird Download issue with the AIO and the one prior to it.
When I reload my game the old one is downloaded and the new AIO is not. I have to redownload it back in each time I start up my game.

Annihilapes question was about the system not downloading the AIO and replacing with the emporium 3.2. It seems to happen when the save game relies on the previous mod. Updates from creations should be fine. Theres just some issuses with the 2 mods being incompatible. I believe it has to do with the 2 versions having the same name, even though they are greatly different.

So my one big beef with this game is the character editor just not having sliders for Specific parts of the body, like I want to make my dude look like Baki but if I make him buff he gets a wide waist too.

So I found the answer I was looking for for xedit pretty much have to wait till you're done with your mod and then clean up the esm last

@chrone so our boy JMPZ11 made a tool to go back and forth on the esm/esp painlessly
took a minute to set up, but vortex was smart enought to handle it, and then i had to read a readme
but long and short is CK -> Xedit is just "save as full master" and then Xedit back to CK is drag/drop esm onto exe, having a "framework" esp file in your game directory, and then it cleans out the blueprints reference and puts it back into esp for you
then you can finish it up in CK and export to small master and send it on up to BethNet

the weapon is a little bit bugged in inventory, because its a rigged mesh, the game didnt like that 😄 but it works fine. There are no dual wielding weapons in game, so I had to improvise.

What's LOD?
I forget what it stands for (Load Over Distance?), but it's a way to display objects in low res from far away, and when you get close enough the game loads their "real" (higher-res) images.

If you've seen smooth versions of objects (or terrain, etc) far away, that was probably LOD.

Sharm - Skully's Emporium is a great-go to for more decorative items.
@mental timber makes sense... game probably has some generic algorithm for distant rendering, but additional textures make sure it looks exactly the way you expect in the distance
like my "white out" stuff on Mars -- it specified a LOD texture there, but it isn't loaded
(knew what it was, just not that's what it was called 😄 )
i think i have some statics i copied that associate to an LOD and gives an error when that cell isnt loaded MAYBE

I have a primary "MQ" script that hands stuff out in my mod.
I also have a few MGEF scripts that do stuff when I click on ingestibles -- specifically the Outpost Repair Button and Nuke It From Orbit button.
I've built perks to add them as menu items on the outpost beacon.
Menu items work, but I'm having hell getting the perk activation to call the mgef... can anyone point me how to use a fragment to call another script from within the same esm? So that it's not trying to call out to the file?

Yes, I created a copy of the MGEF, changed it to contact instead of self, and it was already F&F
got it created onto a spell object that the perk could see... save it.. great... go back into the perk and it's missing again

open up an elevated command prompt (open the start menu, type cmd and open as administrator)
inside command prompt, type this
sfc /scannow
the press enter, let the scan run, if it detects stuff, do another scan.
once that is done, type this
chkdsk c: /f /r
then restart your computer, let the scan run and try again

I'm on windows 10, and it's fine. Even running a 4770 and 1660. Not the best, but still OK for me

yes I have done that many times and the game will not run a new start what so ever

I used uninstaller and deleted all the registries for the game on E drive and then installed it on C drive since it is a SSD drive thought it would speed up things
have you deleted the starfield folder in appdata and my documents?
if you have a bugged StarfieldCustom.ini in my documents, your game might not work
Try the scans I mentioned before too.
If they don't work. Try on a new user profile as well

that was the problem right there there was nothing in the appdata when I searched for it on all my drives
im not sure it shows on search, its hidden by default. HOld the windows key and press R. This opens window called "run" and it has a textfield Open:[ ]. type %appdata% in that field and press ok
right, when you type in %appdata% you get into the "roaming" folder. you want the "local" folder for Starfield.
hold alt and press the up key on your keyboard while inside that folder. you should see 3 folders. Local, LocalLow and Roaming. Press local. the starfield folder is in there.

the starfield folder should be above the steam folder. if its not there, you dont have to delete anything :p
then you go to documents\mygames and delete the starfield folder there. if it doesn't work after that, you need to reinstall windows.
I do see the steam folder but not the starfield one which is odd also see all the other games folders too
the last possibility I can think of is if you are running some kind of software that is blocking Starfield. antivirus, overlay, etc

Creations are not part of the game. Creations are mods. If you want to figure out why your game wont open you need to remove all Creations/mods, and you need to launch the game via steam only. no nexus mod mananger or mo2.

Like I said I do not have any mods installed at all and yes creations is part the game by the way. Yes Like I stated I did a clean uninstall including the registry and all of the folders

Weird thing is the Apparel mask don't show up under clear visors but The Nomad one does. I had to wear this one which is part of the Star wars pack.

it was suprisingly easy, just transfered the base hair weight to a sphere, clean the weight paint of the sphere and transfered to the predator hair

Honestly these mods are what's keeping me mostly interested in the game.
I only start tomplay like at the end of June and wasn't drawn in by the story or many of the characters and wasn't a fan of the asthetics the game had, so the mods for me are that anchor holding me to it.

I played a lot when the game came out, 400 hours. Big break and I just started again when the ck came out to make better mods and see the others.

Nomad mask was built as part of the space suit with that option in mind. Not all like that option I found, so I left it out of this masks mods. If enough want it for the masks mod I can do it though.

I noticed something weird about having loaded my mod into a non creation save, interacting with parts of the mod, loading a non creation save again
Things were missing, restarted the game loaded mod into non creation save normal again

Basically I think people need to be careful about loading back into a non creations save after having already interacted with the mod before restarting the whole game

Saw a post where all of their creations menu just has Squares where the name should be. Didn't that happen in FO4 with the use of out of date mod? Dialogue something?

Just a PSA, if you have a mod stolen, report it on nexus and message the Nexus Support with the proof. (include images of the mod and Author). Apparently naming the thief publicly makes you the problem. I guess someone whose not a modder claimed "stolen" and shut down all talk of it in all forums everywhere. I messaged Nexus with the Proof and my Thief's mod was removed. Small victories, am i right?

right? i reached out to Ne_woke_ram on reddit when i saw everyone wanted his preset of Boba Fett, i asked for permission to simply use the sliders he made public as a courtesy, then made them in CC. they werent exact as, sliders never really are. i then sent a rough draft to Ne, and said need a few tweaks. Took hours with the Actors photos and make the final, got confirmation that Ne liked the work and posted in june, july an Jango Fett popped up that was my mod with hair and a beard. Opened the .Json and my name was literally in the .Json file : player_Skully all serials for sliders matched down to the 17 spot aftter the decimal.
Idk mine started crashing outta no where and it was running smooth, I only have around 94 mods on my Xbox, however I’m hearing the vulture mod is bugged as the rifle is broken
Xbox seems to really struggle with Starfield, my guess if Bethesda Didn't anticipate the progression on mods this quickly. So many new Authors and new modders trying them out.
Tbh I’ve ran mods perfectly fine until that big update in mid June that completely borked my game, I’ve spent over a month trying to get it to work without some sort of crash happening yet I’ve seen plenty of Xbox players have WAY more mods and run absolutely fine 😭😭
How is the rifle broken? I've heard multiple people say this but mine has been working fine... as far as I can tell.
Also I just spent a total of about 10 hours building an M class ship. Is there a mod or Is anyone working on or know if it's possible to make a mod allowing you to bring your created ship with you through the unity and into your next NG+?
I heard if it is your homeship it goes through with but I am not at that stage since I can't play the game anymore on the PC
So it’s either the rifle (which won’t reload sometimes) or one of the paths you can choose on the vulture quest. It’s mainly the vulture quest that’s been the problem
Basically after you complete the quest after you close the game and restart it’ll start crashing every time you enter a load screen
Strange. I'll keep an eye out but I haven't run into anything like that yet.

So I have two storage boxes one says Unlinked and the other says Linked. What's the difference though I can't tell when I store stuff in there
linked storage means no matter where your at if there is linked a storage box you can get anything stored in it. like if you build an outpost on two different planets and store an item in a linked container, you can go to your second outpost on the other planet and take that item out of any linked containers in that outpost.
at least thats how it worked in fallout

People are placing their spaceships into their shipbuilder at like New Atlantis; as a mod, several on Creations now. So its only a matter of time before someone figures out a way.

We got it working i just had to do with @tulip rapids said and it started working only crap thing is the way you aim the AK is still like normal lol so it looks weird now the weapon has a stock
@harsh mountain right now the only way to keep your ship, is to build it into a mod, and award it to yourself like Sadyr does with the Spyder (or similar)
Is anyone currently working on bringing the Imperial Death Trooper armor set to game? If not, would any legitimate modder be interested for a commission fee? Should be simple enough (beyond my skills) the model could be ported from Battlefront2.
Can anyone make a mod qhere you keep you're ships and inventory when you go through the unity
I haven't spent a lot of time looking into how NG+ works, but it seems to just save some global variables into an actor value array on the player, then completely flush everything but player attributes.
Someone seems to have made a mod that allows you to keep inventory on PC by manual save file manipulation, but if we want to make a mod that would work on XBox (and not require file manipulation on PC), I think we'd have to do something pretty complex with player attributes that we would then read out to build a new copy of an existing ship part by part, slot by slot. If the nations of the world needed to make this mod to save the planet, I bet it could be done, but I don't know if any mod authors are going to take it on soon 😁
Then again, there could be other things the game retains or could be coerced into retaining, that aren't obvious to us currently but could be uncovered via debugging when function Game.CreateStarbornGame() is called. I probably won't get around to this in the near future, but if no one else does for long enough, maybe I will.

Take a look at Sadyr's "Spyder" Ship -- that's the only known way right now to take a ship through unity.
For your stuff, there's a LIMITED set of stuff available to take through with the mod "Take Items Through Unity"

That's about what I expected:
Checks each piece of equipped gear and stores the formid of the base object and each attached object mod in an actor value. Once the new game has started, it then uses the stored formid to recreate the same gear and place it in inventory. There are no native functions that will just extract the attached omods tho, so this has to be done using keywords, which is less ideal. Omods for armor slots 1-4 do not have unique keyword identifiers which is why they are edited. If SFSE eventually provides capability to just pull the omod directly this will be easier and improve compatibility. In theory this can be done with any form, not just equipped gear. MQ305 has to be edited because if we check for equipped gear before entering Unity things break in various ways, and once we do the game does not seem to wait for scripts to finish before starting the new game.```
Spyder and Darkstar Astrodynamics both have ships that persist (they are awarded new) each time -- Spyder is a "ticket" -- but essentially, that's the only way right now
I haven't seen Wartortle doing any conversions of his Mods to CK yet... he also does SmartDoc.. there may or may not be technical reasons stopping him from doing TakeItemsThrough Unity... I've seen him on one of my other discords, so I can ask...
Take Items and Smartdoc would be nice to get, but it's unlikely you'll ever get full inventory.
with a ship, it's not a single monolithic thing... unless it's a base vanilla ship from in-game
It probably wouldn't be that difficult to add an actorvalue for each base game item and another for its quantity and restore that after NG+. Not sure if anyone wants to go through the trouble, though. Personally, I wouldn't use it as I like starting fresh anyway.
I was asking about the same thing earlier. I built my first M class ship based off the Ecliptic Camulus and I swear in total it was over 10 hours start to finish. If I had the ability to mod I would put it as it's own mod for download. Because I think currently that's the only way to keep a ship you build after unity.
And yeah, for ships you would need to find a way to create and store actorvalues for each ship part, its three colors, and its connection to the other ship parts present...and even if you figured that out, you'd still need to have a way to "build" the ship based on that and allow the player to claim it somehow (custom ship tech vendor that only has your ship for sale with buy price multiplier 0.00 would work, I suppose).
yeah, if you're gonna do all that.. you might as well just learn to shipbuilder in CK and make your ship there 🙂
Well, it would help all the people that will never get around to learning the CK (and buying the game on PC if they only own it on XBox). But, it's all academic until someone actually figures something out, and I'm not holding my breath right now.

I think it would be kinda cool to have your home ship tied to a quest when you go through the unity your ship gets spit out randomly somewhere in the galaxy. When you start your ng+ run like normal you get some clue as to which planet it got sent too. Then you go to said planet to find it half buried in rocks. There's a cave near by where that leads to the bay door... maybe need some item is needed to get it up and running. What do you think?
I think for sure it's a cool premise, definitely not "lore friendly", but whatever mechanism you want to do to transfer the ship, just doesn't exist today.

@sly ocean and I both just telling peeps that the underlying tech just doesn't exist right now to make this happen... yeah.. I agree it's a cool way to present it, doesn't change the fact that importing and exporting ships just isn't there yet.
Same token, you could theoretically make a "Starborn Container" that you could carry the contents through Unity.... stuff you have in there gets added to a list much like Wartortle does in his, but the list of references to keep track of gets disgustingly long very quickly.
