We don't typically pin resources in the modding channels here. But it is great to see all of the active communities that are already buzzing about Starfield mods 🙂
Who can we suggest a feature that does not disable achievements for mods that do not allow you to get achievements any faster. Like fixes and such. Like say someone revamps the menus like that one popular Skyrim mod we all used back in the day. That wouldn't help you get any achievement, it would just let you spend a little less time managing inventory. Things like that. I mean, I get straight up cheat mods disabling achievements, but it seems like some mods should be able to be certified to run alongside achievements. To the point that people make mods that re-enable the achievements. They shouldn't have to. Not in a single player game, anyway.
Or how about just allow achiements no matter what. If someone wants to cheat their way to get them all who really cares. It’s their game.

The Skyrim equivalent doesn’t work on console. So just remove the restriction and all good for all players.

while i understand from a human standpoint that some mods are clearly QOL or fixes... and thus dont fall against achievements, while other mods are clearly cheats and such .... its a matter of 'how does the program figure that out' when mods can literally do anything they want. so their only approach is either: kill achievements when any mods applied, or not kill achievements. I guess they went with the former choice, and thus there is a mod to reverse that choice 🙂

yeah, I see no issue with mods and achievements... its all single player. its like 'cheats for singleplayer games' ... why would anyone be against them if it makes the game that much more fun for someone who may not have bought the game otherwise?
i know theres many RTS games i would never have bought, had they not had cheats for them... because i just cant be bothered with the mechanics of some of those, but still enjoy them if i can cheat a little 😉

I have a 3080 10gb and ryzen 9 5900x. I occasionally get lag spikes in New Atlantis still.
I have vsync enabled @60hz though. Not sure what my avg fps is if I disable.
fire up afterburner and setup some graphs, helps if you are checking out your fps over time

i’m guessing sf mods are made in the same way as other bethesda games, so just search up how to make mods for bethesda games, most bethesda games have similar modding tools

Maybe a tiny bit, but generally no. You'll just get a better looking image compared to FSR.

I.E taking off, landing, getting seated, etc, stays in first person instead of playing a 3rd person animation/cinematic, i can tell this is possible because sometimes especially when landing the game will stay in first person for half the animation.

Oh, that's actually a Microsoft thing. See, and apologies to anyone who knew this, but achievements are just the gamer-facing side of a service that is offered to publishers and developers. Achievements show them what we focus on and how long it takes how many of us to reach certain milestones. It's useful metrics, and cheat mods corrupt that data, which they place a monetary value on. While Bethesda being part of Xbox might seem to change that formula, Bethesda still wants to know how long people spend in the game doing whatever, and cheat mods, again, corrupt that data. Hence why I didn't ask for them to just allow all mods with achievements.

If you want to make the game look amazing, get the “NeutralLUTs - No color filters” mod and pair it with the “Alpha Chad Reshade” mod. The game look unreal with these mods being used.
Both are on Nexus.

Reshade normally uses about 2fps. I would say it does but not that much. Expect your pc to be doing some work though

Onless theres a mods option for consoles on hone screen then not right away. Took a few years for them to implement them into skyrim

The DLSS mod I was thinking of is called Starfield Upscaler - Replacing FSR2 with DLSS or XESS.
Says it supports DLSS2 though, not 3 (sorry).
Alas, I had my memories crossed with another High-Res Texture Pack 4K that says it can use DLSS2 or 3. I don't think there is a DLSS3 mod yet.

There is at least a mod for reducing the cost for registering (which otherwise eats up almost the entire amount unregistered ships sell for)

Theoretically, you can. It's just jumping part, making the different jumps sort of infinite, putting in double jumpos then triple jumps with a certain item, and then, adding in the power to make something similar. I know that I atleast might be looking forward to making Gjallarhorn weapon projectile mod like I did for Fallout 4 in the past.

What is interesting about Starfield modding to me is that the CK may turn out to be actually somewhat irrelevant. 🤔
The systems you can change with the CK are fine for the most part. The most popular mod requests are things like expanded inventory and DLSS (already a thing) and vehicles (requires a SFSE plugin).
So if you only use the CK, you're basically bikeshedding.
This is different from Skyrim, where the biggest problem was that the game systems were bad and the only important non-CK mod was SkyUI. 🤔

It's not just learn c++ lol. It takes years and years of knowledge and practical experience to make good mods

From what I see they are different cell, that moon is only a skybox till you load the land in. New highy altitude cells would need to be created for each body

Like, in warframe for example, they'll have a loading screen that you can move the ship around still. Something like that could probably be added to starfield. Have some atmosphere around to make it seem like you're flying into the planet. @gentle ridge

what is a bit annoying though, is 'text' during loading screens, where the loading is to ofast to read through the text blurb haha 😂
You'd probably have to set a navigation route for starfield though, otherwise you'd probably land on a generated tile

What kind of performance boosts have you guys gotten from the DLSS mod?
I'm locked at 60fps, but I'm still seeing dips belowe 55fps while in new atlantis, even with the DLSS mod. I have a 3080 and 5900x for reference.
One thing I hope someone mods in is a framework that will let you import/export ship designs and also take those ship designs and actually put them ingame - meaning not just as a 'buy all the parts and assemble it yourself', but that you could buy the fully assembled ship listed among the regular ships, or even find it being used and steal it.
Also, on another note - abandoned ships we could rebuild? Like 'You found this wreck, of 'x' type and class, you can either pay [amount] to fully restore it, or find more wrecks of the same type to reduce that cost by a lot'.

I would assume the same as with Skyrim/Fallout 4 which is only part of the mods will work (usually texture/models swaps), for sure you can forget about anything that will be using some kind of script extender or achivement enabler

Well, it's not locked down hard nowadays.
I started playing the GamePass version to see if I would like it and then bought it on Steam - I had to find a third party tool to even export my saves because they (tried) to lock them down
Ah yes, the saves. But mod wise, not had any issues so far (except vortex is being stupid today but that has nothing to do with the game itself)

There's also xEdit which can be used for a lot, but that's community/player made
I like xEdit because it's more 'spreadsheet' like than 'find the hidden box under 5 menus to adjust the value you wanted to edit'
But you can't get a 'world view' of what you're making with it
So it's a lot harder if you're, say, making a house mod rather than just editing some values or making a copy of something

I dunno if some version requires you to put stuff in that data folder for mods to work.
At least I haven't needed to for the gamepass version.
I'm not sure if that's what you're asking but yes im on windows
cut and paste the data folder to wherever you want it on the drive
open a command line in the folder and use MKLINK to put a symlink in the original location
or you can look up a program called link shell extension which allows you to do this directly in explorer by adding a context menu when you right click a folder
why doesn't Bethesda move it to the starfield folder because it is the only place to put your Textures mod and have them work?
i am just say it because of mod managers.
Maybe they just want to keep the original game directory intact and let mods run from external or other directory.. to prevent data corruption, overwriting of original files etc.
but other mods work in the starfield folder
I just use Mod Organizer 2. It virtualizes the mod deployment process so nothing is stored on C: and its all kept under wherever you set the program to store it
So we have the Skyrim forever mod for skyrim that gives the game multiplayer.... I wonder how long we'll get that but for Starfield 🤔
you can transfer in/out of your ship cargo if you're outside and nearby -- just use the menu (tab -> ship -> cargo hold)
the mods that use root starfield folder are more connected to the exe and dll files i guess, like script loaders (extenders), reshade.. but anything related to the data folder (ba2 files, esm files) i think is external

Fixed the symlink error in vortex, I just had to change a thing in the extension js from false to true.
i dont know, could be by dev design or other reason.. cant really answer that
Transfer containers are not listed unless your in the actual terminal dont even show up if you access inventory from cockpit
I gust don't install Textures using vortex then.
also there is no option to specify where to transfer things to if multiple inventories are available IE open a cargo container you can tab between your char the ship and the open container but in this scenario it only transfers to player inventory you cant select to send to the ship. If anything the game needs a buy to ship in addition to sell from ship option for vendors

Vortex is unstable and in my opinion too smart for its own good in that it thinks it knows best and does too much un needed "validation" as a result keeps breaking things MO2 is more stable and allows for manually installed mods to coexist with managed mods
I have a mod request, two actually:
- bigger trees that increases the size of trees on all planets.
- HD water similar to Water for ENB for Skyrim that has way more detail and better underwater visibility

im still learning alot of things myself, im not a coder.. but i finally know my way around a bit in the in-game console of starfield.. i change the font color to cyan.. and change settings ingame with setini "setting:section" .. when you change opacity of console, you can see realtime changes of graphics better
now i hope they will release some esm editor soon for this game like xEdit.. are useful things in there also
But yeah a Buy to Ship option would be good too but for ballance reasons this would only work when landed at a location with ship services so will not apply to small outposts without landing pads
Anything I can do to improve this usage? This is just at an abandoned mining outpost (exterior). No graphical mods, just ultra optimisations mod (but lowered some things to high). this is on an i7-10700K and 3070, 16gb ram
its a heavy game, things that helped for me is FSR2, Dynamic Resolution, put Scaling Resolution at 77%, lowering shadow quality.. i play in 4k myself on a 4080.
GPUs being at 100% is perfectly normal, it should do that for pretty much any game that's graphically demanding. it's time to worry when you're not getting decent performance and it's lower than 100%

I tried one of those DLSS mods, it doesnt really make that much difference, and sharpening wont work as it replaces FSR2 basically.. recently there was a new mod that includes DLSS3 and FG i believe, but people had crashes with fast travel and such

if you hover over m3 and click 3 times you should automatically draw from the m2 and m1 into m3. m2, from m1, and m1 as the base. It's super finicky to reduce on one M then put the same up on the other one.

You can get it for just the space combat reticle and it won't mess with anything but that. If nothing else, treat yourself to a smooth aiming reticle

It impacts some of the UI animations. Not like previous games where physics and character animations were tied to FPS.

Skyrim did no loading screens for cities, I'm sure eventually starfield might make it that far
The only reason there are loading screens for cities in Starfield is you're loading the entire area, including the city, when you land

Dont use Vortex, some mods uses game root folder, and some others need the folder in C:\Users\username\Documents\My Games\Starfield

Aye. I tried to use it for skyrim SE after bethesda decided to beat a dead horse with updates that didn't benefit the game, but their wallet. So stopped modding/playing skyrim all together as who knows if it would get another mod breaking update that doesn't fix the game itself 
It was originally designed for beth games and probably has the most utility there. The other main advantage is the VFS which allows it to expose mods to the game without actually writing files to the game directory. But that also makes it unusable for the Windows Store games which are compiled in a way that prevents the VFS mechanism from working.
You have the same issue with the various script extenders.
Yeah its the reason why i got the Steam version myself, other UWP games are always either encrypted, VFS stuff etc.. very protected and virtually sandboxed in a way

Yes, that's why we added the Explorer++ to allow you to see the virtualized view of the directory. (Though the data tab essentially gives you this as well.)

Ngl I'm major coping right now and I thought I'd start light by downloading just two mods (Script Extender & Baka Achievements Disabler). I did everything it asked in the description, when that didn't work I followed other solutions in the posts tab, I watched a few begginners modding guides like Gopher's and still I couldn't even launch the game

I've been doing all of mine manually. As long as you remember to install them similar to a load order they work fine. Just a small pain to update but given how lightweight most of the mods are right now it's not that bad.

Is it possible to do a mod for animations for Aid items?
I was thinking of adding a Use prompt/button for all AID items.
For all AID items when you see them out in the environment a prompt comes up to press a button to Take or to Use.
Take = what it does now add to inventory.
And the Use button triggers an animation to use the item without putting it in your inventory.
I just think it would be cool to have animations eating and drinking.
I think it would only take a few animations.
One for drinking
One for eating
One for bandages
One for injection
One for inhaling
Also before people start losing their minds over it being next year, keep in mind that the new year is only 3 months away, they could release mod support for Xbox in January or even a couple months after.

I’m sure Bethesda wants to work on any bugs and other minor/major stuff before releasing it so it’s better optimized to handle the mods that come with the release.

From a business perspective also, Bethesda know that the modding community will go out of their way to port previous game tools to Starfield.
Its much easier & cheaper to wait for this to happen rather than take resources (devs, time/money) away from the official game and its support.
I don’t care for adding vehicles, but if they don’t bring back Mechs, that will be a huge missed opportunity.

Was just trying to get Eyes of Beauty to work but there was no change on the replacer version. Also tried an outfit recolor and it had no change either
For me I just had to have a custom in my user folder and put the mods in the data folder, on cp. Also, texture mods are finicky
Either turn off motd and delete the textures folder in documents or put texture mods there instead of the game folder

Yeah it was hidden between the photos haha, but I watched it and it was more or less the same steps as the other mods were saying but no one said to touch that line in the Starfield.ini
Guys i tried using Vertox but couldn’t make it work haha I should’ve ask for help here but it didn’t seem to work, tried the BetterHUD and DLSS but none showed ingame so tomorrow I’ll try again asking here for assistance to do it manually and no screw it over haha
I recommended it because I have got 2 mods that didnt cooperate until I got rid of that line
Im not technical enough to explain why, but thats what got mine working.
There were also instances were if you copy paste stuff from sites into ini files, it creates a hidden string that is only visible with a hex-editor. reverse byte string or something.. and the only way to get rid of that is to convert the ini to UTF8 format and remove the DOM.. or replace the ini file entirely from scratch.
would ctrl+shift+v sort that out?
no idea, but i know with notepad++ or any advanced text editor, you can easily convert it to UTF8 format and remove that DOM and those hidden byte strings
For people having trouble with mods. Make sure to check if the folder your placing mods into is branching off of onedrive.
If it is, they might not work.

it's kind of annoying to have to open the scanner just to see what items you can pick up, on top of not being able to open doors and some containers.
I think that would have side-effects since the scanner also changes your gun to the Arc one, or the mining one
idk it would just be nice to be able to select certain resources and have it highlighted throughout the systems so you don't have to have the scanner up every time you need to spot items/resources.

I used manual installation, I found it weird that some mods goes into the main game folder data folder but some mods goes into the documents/mygames/starfield/data
Like I had to install the StarUI in the documents one, not in the main game folder

Anything not needing SFSE (Starfield Script Extender) is pretty simple to add for gamepass unless the mod says otherwise

I do the same same but using MO2 one has way better management options, especially when it comes to just disable a mod instead of removing the files manually for debugging purpose, to keep track on mod updates and on selecting what actual executable is used to launch the game 🙂 It really makes great difference if one has tons of mods later on (also playing Fallout 4 with it this really makes a difference and for me it's just more handy than Vortex)

The problem is the way MS handles Gamepass files. From what I remember of Script Extender for other BGS titles, it needs to usurp control of the .exe to inject the extender...and MS won't relinquish control of it.
While it *might *be different for Starfield, I doubt it.
I'd love for it to be available for the GP version.
Hell, my Logitech software can't even access the .exe to change mouse profiles when the game is running from GP. LOL

Probably what I will be doing as well. There are a couple mods I want to make, but I'm not the hardcore coder type, so I'll be waiting for the tools to be released...and I will probably need the Steam version then because I don't know if the GP version will allow the tool kit to access the files.

I believe that the Creation Kit for Starfield will be in the first quarter next year to be honest also third party tools always pop up faster.
There are a few hundred mods right now, so I know it can be done without the Creation Kit. I'm just too old and too busy to figure out how to do it without the kit.

Hey, so I'll try to provide clarity as much as possible.
Just a query.
I had an issue with a Main Quest mission in which I finished one and the other never started. A small 3 hour annoyance of trying different methods to no avail. Essentially a quest bug.
This is on the Xbox App. I was using PC at the time.
I then, not wanting to start my 3 days play through all over again I decided to use console commands to prompt the next mission. Using Setstage (Mission ID) 0.
This worked!
It hasn't effected my Xbox Play anywhere ability between my PC and Xbox and it is still recognising my saves and syncing fine. I thought it would be no issue, and it wasn't.
However now, as warned, I can't get Xbox achievements. A somewhat harsh punishment for someone who just wanted to continue playing Constelation missions.

Could I potentially Download the achievement Enabler mod and put it within xbox files, I heard from sources it works with xbox. This edits the save files to no longer disable achievements I think. Or just the game itself. If I added these would achievements now work with play anywhere? on both devices? is it going to cause some catastrophic incident where the world implodes. Will I lose syncing between both devices.
It's a unique problem and I'll be surprised if anyone else has attempted the same, maybe not vocally.

I think it'll be possible for all planets to make a pretty procedurally generated map.
Makes the enemy AI act like a cohesive unit. They actually move cover to cover as a team to put pressure on you and try to draw you out of cover. They seem to be using tactics. It's fun.

Nah. Only reasonable reason it the Xbox bonus system. Turns into real money you can use to buy games and such.

Because people are enabling achievements with mods just fine on pc (even the gamepass version)

My guess is the npc is 'disabled' - find his reference ID (generally if you open the console and click on a thing, person, etc, you'll get a reference ID of some kind like 00xxxxxx) - then you'd type 'prid <referencce ID>' then hit enter, then 'enable' and hit enter

you know how you can change most all the graphic settings, and they take effect immediately (no restart required)... i wonder how difficult it would be to do a mod where you can set two graphic settings based on indoors/outdoors environ .... where it swaps during a loading screen

Did you try putting it in the starfield.ini in the main folder?
Mod organizer also uses it's own .ini for games, if you use mods through that.

When I first installed days ago
I guess I fixed it now
The reason OneDrive failed is because now the APP is outdated
They switched it to a web based OneDrive
So everything was messed up
So what I did was went to my OneDrive and deleted over 4 GB’s of documents there
And somehow it worked

To anyone in Bethesda:
- As you may know, the xEdit read-only version has been released, allowing us to browse records and poke around. All record types have been idenitified, even tho all field data is not yet parsed.
- There no longer seem to be Sound Descriptors in any form.
- There are, however, "wwise event" records.
- Wwise is a proprietary and closed sound format used by many smaller devs that requires the original manifest to recompile its library, even to swap existing sounds. In other words, no wwise game has ever been moddable for sound in any way.
- That means no custom sounds of any kind. No voices for custom NPCs. No custom sounds for mod weapons. Not even sound enhancers, reverb tweaks.... nothing. Sounds in the wwise system, in every other game i've spent years trying to work with it in along with other sound modders, have never been accessible.
-- Therefore: has Bethesda done something different with the wwise system so this supposed "most mod friendly game ever" will allow us to access the sound system? Or are we really cut off from any audio effects, voices, sounds, etc. from Starfield?

It seems to be at least possible to replace sounds right now though? I'd definitely hope though there'll be a creation-kit way to do it like they do with cyberpunk or else you are indeed forced to use wwise which is quite annoying, but not impossible as you can use it for free. But the biggest unknown right now if every type of sound can be replaced with the same type of encoding. Some seem to accept uncompressed/pcm, some only compressed to a similar file size as the original. The only mapping I can see on the outside is the 800k json file, which is quite the navigation dive to find your particular to-be-replaced sound 😓

First I was doing all here... but in one post showed a different path so...
I followed and just copypaste the Interface folder that was created and the StarfieldCustom.ini and now those 3 work (BetterHud, StarUI, FOV)
My biggest question.... For the Achievment Unlocker and Upscaler i have it on the first one, following the instructions and everything, and at least i see that the Upscaler is showing the menu with the Hotkey, for the Achievment I cant confirm since i havent got to a point where I can get one.... So.... (sorry for my bible) Do I need to do any change on those 2 mods? (Achievment Unlocker and Upscaler)
