#speaking of skincare…

UK buyers, Boot's own brand skin care!
They do pretty much everything Ordinary Skincare do for half the price
I use hylaronic acid & vit c during the day (includes SPF) & then collagen and retinol at night, skins feels amazing
q honestly the only skincare product that doesn't ruin me is vaseline
i find the l’oréal range face creams, be it day or night cream, they cause pilling.
i've never been a fan of l'oreal for anything other than lipsticks
i love to apply vaseline on my face overnight, after i’ve put a night cream
it’s meant to help seal it i think
i tried their revitalift cream because it wasn’t that expensive
but yeah, i’ll try that boots range
i love a good sudacrem face mask if i'm spotty
i’m usually in super drug tho
i'm not sure if super drug do their own skin care, but i LOVE their own body sprays
they dupe the victoria secrets ones for like £2, it's great
i thought collagen only absorbs internally? i used to take vital proteins powder; need to get some more
maybe it does
i'll fall for anything if it says it'll keep me 10 year younger
- Cerave SPF 50 cream first thing in the morning
- Dove Shea butter soap bar, smells amazing
- Vaseline cocoa cream with the pumpy lid so I can smother it on me straight after a shower
- African net sponge, can be thrown into washing machine, makes you feel squeaky clean
- Collagen gummies help my skin feel clear and nails feel strong
- Nivea soft, this is also very good for my face for when I've run out of cerave
Also glycolic acid on my face, very small amount once a week. Also on my underarms
I come with the receipts lol
Fuck I can smell this through my phone, love it
the og…i’ve tried the others in the range and they aren’t as nice
they also do a lip balm? chapstick…whatever
it’s amazing in the lips
ON
FML
it smells so good
i use dove og stick deo
i use that palmers on my face too
ohhhh i do have something that i love
hang on
For some reason I use mens deodorant, have done for years. It always feels more effective to me
Maybe because I'm more aware of the smell or something
yes! i got between this and aveeno depending on the price
i'm a big fan of carmex, i have a tub in every room, and every bag, because i'm really good at losing them haha
What boots products do you use?
i’d use a men’s deo if it was stick, for sure…i don’t like sprays or roll-ons, but i find those are more popular in the uk
i like a white and creamy stick
i’ll tell ya what
america is great for women’s deo
secret is amazing
Do you use this hyaluronic acid @timid lynx
the smells omg…we got a plug…an air stewardess who brings us stuff sometimes
Good that you said that because I always just disregard their stuff @timid lynx but next time I'm in boots I might pick some of their skincare stuff up!!
If any bearded men wander their way into here and have suggestions for a product that actually stops beard flakeyness, recommendations welcome. Always have to ditch the beard because of it.
but this deo smells great because of the cinnamon addition
Yes I always just use dove men deodorant lol maybe I need to broaden my horizons
i don’t have a beard but i’d recommend vitamin e oil
or an apple cider vinegar rinse
rub it in, let it sit for 5 and then rinse
same thing if anyone has dandruff
oooo
Thank you ☺️
i need to check out boots more but the good one that is well stocked isn’t as close as superdrug wahhhh
Do you live in the UK?
So my AM is this!
yes…i always forget about buying online lmao
And my PM is this:
I also use a collagen eye cream and mix it with a retinol eye cream, but can't find those online right now for some reason
do you use that every day? i thought too much vitamin c can irritate
same with retinol
like, you aren’t supposed to use it every night
Not everyday/night! Usually when I'm going to wear make-up or I'm out and about
How do you girls remove your makeup?
Honestly when I'm home I just wash my face and pop a bit of aveeno on
I wear make up like once a month these days and I never take it off lol I'm so bad
oh it 100% is, but it's nice to moisturise
i don’t wash my face daily, at best, i’ll use a face wipe…i think it strips your skin…disrupts the barrier
i suffer from severe depression and insomnia so when i say i do this skincare, i'm talking like once a week when i'm in the office
etc
I definitely feel like they sell the dream but I've definitely noticed a difference since just using the Nivea soft on my face every day
And I feel like it's a placebo
yeah, i have bpd so im lucky to shower twice a week
When I do skincare it's when I feel like I'm getting my shit together
but thankfully i’m not a smelly person
i think it's all to do with your skin, like some people just naturally have good skin
my pits don’t sweat heavily
word
i get spots every other period, but other than that, i have clear skin, i just like to hydrate it because i can get a bit dry this time of year
i did notice a diffo from the collagen powder and
So you'll know when I'm feeling optimistic...I'll have my supplements in the morning and do my skincare
my hair doesn't get greasy for like 5/6 days and it's also wavey/curly so i don't like over washing it
Then I'll ditch it for ages
oh same man, but thaats because i don’t like to condition every time i wash my hair either…for me, it makes my hair greasier faster
I have to condition so much, or I just get frizzy as fuck
does your hair get greasy fast or nah
no, I would have to go over a week for it to go greasy
Now we're being honest hahaha my skincare is just for days I'm wearing a full face of make-up. I don't use primers or any of that shit. Just do a good hydrating skincare routine and your foundation will GLOW and STAY all day. Otherwise I'm doing nothing for days and hoping for the best
noiiiice
Yeah I agree, sometimes just the Nivea is all I do. I have it sitting on top of my cabinet in my bedroom and some nights I'll just open the tub and throw some on my face and it makes me feel like I've made some effort
I use the collagen & retinol so when I eventually go for botox, I can be like WELL I USED THIS AND I STILL LOOK FUCKING OLD
i’d hate to be a young girl coming up now because all this stuff they’re being sold
i was not worried about a full skin care regime at 10
i’ll tell ya that
one of my cousins had severe acne, and she was constantly putting makeup on and trying all this shit to get rid of it and we were all just like, STOP WEARING ANYTHING ON YOUR FACE
i’m 41 and feel very confident with my facial skin just now
it took her growing up, getting a job and stopping wearing make-up (with some GP cream as it was very bad) and it went!
I don't really bother with makeup, other than a bit of eyeliner sometimes. I'd actually like it if I could just click my fingers and have perfect foundation which would cover dark circles or blotches, but when I actually try to do it, it just looks shit and clumpy so I inevitably wash it back off, and I guess ultimately I don't care enough to figure out how to do it properly... as it's probably better for my skin not to.
less is really more
I get a lot of korean make up now, there's a cream that changes to your skintone as like a CC/BB cream and it's REALLY good
i do concealer under my eyes, a flick of liquid eyeliner and lipstick
my under eyes are so dark otherwise
and hollow
yay aneamia
This stuff is rubbish for my hair/beard but makes my skin quite nice when I remember to buy it
Skincare wise I use cerave cleanser, klairs hydrating toner, oil of olay moisturiser and sometimes retinol or buffet from the oridinary when I remember. I don't do it all every day though, depending on how I feel.
does anaemia cause dark under eyes!?
it can, but it can also just be genetic
that makes a lot of sense for me
Yeah me and my sister both have dark eyes
I've never found an eye cream that has done anything for mine, so I have just accepted it as part of my charm
i've been thinking about getting blepharoplasty to see if that makes any difference
I think dark eyes look French and cool
Exactly
French = good
It's a feature, not a bug.
same…no cream…i just use peach color corrector and concealer
i don’t always have them concealed so oui oui 🥖
This is my secret weapon for my make up. So I don't wear foundation anymore, just that vita liberata which is like a... Tinted cream. Then the glow up spray makes you GLOW
So thats what I have on in this pic
glowinggg
i am GHOST white so i don't think that would work for me
Where back in the day I'd have covered my face up with Estée Lauder doublewear
lovely
this is what i looked like today…with like, some eyeliner and rubbed off concealer lmao
what i usually look like
I got the glow up spray in superdrug btw
i know my next treat myself purchase
@timid lynx they do have a "lighter light" shade. It's quite pricey but I swear by it
i'd have to try it in store if i ever see it, a lot of these run warm when they oxidise when turns me orange, and i'm much cooler/pink undertoned
gonna peep this on amazon
Oh yeah I get what you mean, I used to buy a lot of BB creams etc to try and stop using foundation and I found they'd be so hit and miss.
Boots sell the vita liberata stuff so it's worth keeping a wee eye out for it to test it. it's not a BB cream though, I don't actually know what it is lol
Oh it is lol
this is me with nothing but mascara on, i tint my eyebrows so i don’t ever have to bother with them, and i’ll use a powder under my eyes to try and brighten but not always, i dislike them but i am trying to just embrace them!
Awk both beautiful girls
you're all beautiful ❤️
you look gorgeous lau
Speaking of powder for under the eyes, this is so so so good for me, I'll sometimes add this under my eyes and it almost airbrushes my eye bags
Buy Revolution IRL Soft Focus 2 in 1 Powder Translucent and Collect Advantage Card Points when you spend £1.
Awk look at the state of that link
i think makeup can be very aggressive looking and ageing sometimes
i got this in an advent calendar and it’s amazing
it definitely seems to plump or soften lines
it's funny because when i was trying to go drinking underage, i could never get in, all done up in my 2000's business casual attire
with a full face of make-up, but whenever i went to a pub after work, not wearing make-up and got a pint they'd never question it
it used to frustrate me so badly, but now i'm in my 30's and i see these wee 16/17 year olds trying to go out, with all their make-up on and dolled up, i can tell their age a MILE away
zzz gotta hit the hay…lovely chatting with you all…night!!! x
night!
Niiiight!! That was a nice wee chat xx
I use glycolic acid 7% exfoliating toner, Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%, Granactive Retinoid 5% (all The Ordinary brand) and Cetaphil moisturiser 6 nights a week. I mainly started it because I have melasma around my forehead (skin discolouration), i never really had any othrr skin issues, but I've noticed it's helped improve my skin condition in general
Yes glycolic acid is so good, it's good for lightening up any blemishes as well. And for your underarms (but maybe more for girls)
Oh and your feet
One my wife got me on to, beats every other moisturiser I’ve tried
^ yesss love cosrx, I can’t live without their Salicylic Acid Cleanser. The large majority of my skincare is Korean brands, so much cheaper and so much more effective than the Aussie high street offerings. My skin loves em!
For me I use:
- Wright's traditional soap (the coal tar one)
- Percy Nobleman beard oil every day
- Nivea for men cream (only one that isn't too oily/annoying for me)
- Highly highly recommended more than anything a safety razor for men, rather than any Gillette Mach whatever or anything that has multiple blades. The multiple blades will ruin your skin and give you a shite shave.
i’m loving reading these suggestions
i just had a great shower 🧼 inspired by this thread…broke out some goodies i forgot i owned
i use that soap as well, theyve started cutting the back out of the block so you get less
this body scrub is amazing
and this is great for your feet
after the shower
it’s almost like vaseline, so you don’t need a lot but sometimes i like to slather my feet with it and wear special socks AKA a pair i don’t mind getting stuff on and wear them with it overnight
i do like this stuff but never tried the socks thing. just tend to hobble around like ive got pins and needles to avoid it rubbing off
yeah just wear socks with it…i couldn’t handle the hobbling and if something stuck to my feet
i can’t go barefoot
i have house slippers
hate anything touching my feet from the floor
sensory issue
i can see that
lol
im the opposite, stand in everything
nooohhehrrheundjfaks
i’m anal about my feet
i take good care of them
i see people with black soles and long toenails and cracked heels
gives me the boak
yeah i agree its minging, will still walk around the house bare foot though
or on a red hot pavement in greece, thats heaven
does it not bother you to feel like a crumb or the cold floor?
not being rude, genuinely asking
must just be me being me
nah doesnt bother me at all but I can see why it would to someone
I always wear sunscreen even under the cloudy grey skies of Britannia
I've started doing that this year. Been using this -https://uk.bulldogskincare.com/products/anytime-daily-moisturiser-spf-30. It doesn't leave any noticeable white cast, but might go for a 50 next time
i LOVE this too for the smell and also how soothing it is for my skin
fr!
it’s an iconic lotion in america lol
IYKYK
yup. i like layering it with other perfumes
and scented oils
in fact, i have it on now and i smell fantabulous if i do say so myself
I don’t like this.
Check out these Simpsons masks I bought for my neighbours, truly horrific 🤯
I like this even less.
I had to really turn my brightness up and zoom in to see that it wasn't actually the Simpsons and that they were face masks
Oh! Yeah! I’ve had scalp problems for 15 years, tried specialist products, prescribed stuff from the doctor, its like my skin is allergic to the oil in my hair or something.
Randomly stumbled across this at a local market and gave it a go now I’ve converted loads of people to it, this product specifically but also my GF, my Mum, people in work, all trying their full range of stuff and everyone saying it’s amazing!

These are my current go-tos
Cleanser/
Cosrx Salicylic Acid Daily Gentle Cleanser
Toner/
Cosrx AHA/BHA Clarifying Treatment Toner
Serum/
Cosrx Refresh AHA BHA Vitamin C Booster Serum 30ml
Moisturiser/
Cosrx Oil Free Ultra Moisturizing Lotion (With Birch Sap) 100ml
Bodywash/
Bouncia Body Soap - White Soap Scent
I also double cleanse with an oil cleanser and the Cosrx cleanser to get all the gunk off my face, but I just use whatever random oil cleanser is available instead of any specific brand
Amazing, thank you 👍🏻
i’ll match your energy lmao
hahahahaha took this ages ago
i’m seeing folk are into this cosrx. i’m definitely gonna get some 👍
Where's everyone buying cosrx then and is it cruelty free?
I've noticed I don't really get it anymore, not sure if it's to do with my new skincare routine, or maybe just using moisturiser keeps it all in place lol
I love a double cleanse too! It’s the only way my face feels clean once I’ve had my sunscreen on. I find the oil cleanser makes my skin so supple and soft too! I just use a cheap mineral oil baby oil home brand from one of our two big supermarkets here, it’s got two ingredients and is $3 a bottle. I love it! I’ve heard other people can have issues with mineral oil, but luckily my skin loves it- I figured if it’s gentle enough for babies skin, I’ll try it on my face
IIRC Cosrx is cruelty free, I get mine from a bunch of k-beauty websites and stockists here in Australia now, but before I could buy local I used to buy it from YesStyle who should ship the the uk too. I’d recommend trying the Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence, and the Salicylic Acid Daily Gentle Cleanser.
you’re the 2nd person to recommend that snail mucin 👍 that’s it! i’m convinced
Not tried any other products, but I use the cosrx patches on spots/pimples, and they work incredibly well, even on those large hormone induced chin spots.
i depend upon having a tube of Lucas Papaw ointment in my bag at all times for cuts, rashes, burns, dry lips and hands, cuticle care, etc
i also love coconut oil for dry skin
that's for winter where i like oils and soothing things. in summer, i like watery things like a good toner from Manyo and this gel like cream:
SK-II from Japan also make great stuff that I love but it's pricier
this is currently my favorite korean suncream - very light and moisturizing and more like a lotion than a sunscreen. i love it in all seasons. i use it in lieu of a lotion in the heat of summer and i layer it over other lotions in winter. it's great and soothing to dry and irritated skin too. no cast. nothing. love it.
if you want top of the line Korean stuff, you can try Amore Pacific. I love their gel eye cream. They have a popular enzyme cleanser too that i personally thought was ok not AMazing but it's just my personal opinion. other ppl love it
this is my favorite mositurizing toner that is great to layer as well:
if you want something creamier as a toner, this one was very popular in korea a while ago and I've got my friends in the usa hooked on it:
all these above (and below) are my tried and true go tos
this SK-II worked amazingly on my skin to clear it up years ago. i used it on a cotton pad mornign and night with their foam cleanser. used to be my holy grail:
their foam cleanser smells very faintly of roses. so nice. but their twist on/off cap is just awful. i want a flip lid.
but i just want to give a loving and reverential shout out to the one and only COCONUT OIL that SAVED my skin and eyes last night from BURNING PAIN. i tried all the toners i had, all the lotions, castor oil, neem oil. etc alll of it and was up in pain then i remembered my coconut oil and put it on and there was IMMEDIATE calming effect. aaah i love coconut oil.
also one of my favorite lip balms:
Dr Bronner's unscented lip balm
unguent and soothing and very good at helping chapped lips
Will definitely check this out, thanks for the rec 💖
I absolutely swear by those
hada labo oil face cleanser is very nice
i also like paula's choice BHA
i have a big jar of organic coconut oil that i use as an all rounder
shoutout indeed
Can anyone recommend some face moisturiser that doesn't leave everything feeling all greasy?
^ do you want it to completely absorb with no traces left? Or is locking in some moisture ok as long as it’s not greasy or too tacky feeling?
erm I dont know
i get that isnt very helpful but I'm just a northern boy who wants to have lovely skin.
I used this for a while, made my skin feel amazing, wasn't greasy at all but it's for oily skin types I think
Hmmm, if you don’t currently use any moisturisers as such, you could try more of a serum for during the day? I can’t live without my Hyaluronic Acid morning and night as my first bit of moisture on my face, I like the ordinary’s version, but my go to is the lacura Hyaluronic Acid from Aldi LACURA® Skin Science Revive Hyaluron Serum 30ml. I also love Cerave Ceramides PM Facial Moisturising Lotion, that ones a bit thicker but super nourishing & no fragrances, colours or other unnecessary bits.
What does hyaluronic acid do again, does it just moisturise?
You could try doing a night time sleep mask overnight and then just bare face during the day. I adore the Water Sleeping Mask by Laneige, you only need a little bit of it, and despite being watery it really does stay on your skin and soak right in, you’ll need to wash it off in the morning. Bonus points for the lip sleeping mask by Laneige for those dry chapped winter lips
It moisturisers and plumps, and makes your skin firm and smooth. so it rehydrates and seems to fill in fine lines etc. I think over time it certainly helps lessen or at least stops my lines from getting deeper.
ok thanks, ill look in to these
im just using some l'oreal mens thing at the moment but dont like it at all
If you can see if you can nab sample sizes in things, that way you can try without breaking the bank if you hate things. Also, sunscreen if you’re not already wearing some daily/whenever you head out, if you do nothing else you can’t beat sunscreen to keep you looking young forever
I find men’s skincare goes way too hard with super intense fragrance (man smells!) is that one feeling greasy and ugh?
Either smells or charcoal, charcoal in everything
aye, think its this
too much
Aren't you supposed to avoid using hyaluronic acid in the morning with it making your skin more sensitive to sun exposure?
no hyaluronic acid is not reactive to sun. you might be thinking of retinol/tretinoin.
also, if an active makes you photosensitive, the important thing is not whether you put it on at night to avoid wearing it in the sun, but that you wear sunscreen to protect you skin from the sun. some say wear it even indoors as you get sunlight through windows etc.
the thing about not wearing tretinoin/retinol in the day time, aside from causing photo sensitivity (which is alleviated with sunscreen wear), the exposure of tretinoin/retinol to sunlight makes it inactive and therefore useless for what its intended purpose is.
hyaluronic acid is moisturizing, as it attracts water
I’ve inherited my mum’s Glaswegian skin and complete inability to tan, despite living in Sydney all my life so sunscreen and avoiding direct sunlight like a vampire is standard operating procedure for me. It’s also why I’ve not dipped a toe into retinol/tretinoin despite being so tempted by its anti aging magic. But I’m sure whatever turning back of the clock it does will be undone and then some by the harsh Aussie sun and my skin which is already sunburn prone 😭
@spring sequoia I learnt a lot there. Thanks!
liquid gold
who is Paula though?
Chief Exfoliant Chooser
Do you use it am and pm? and is it really abrasive/grainy?
I have dry skin, so can only recommend for that, but I love this too
I use it only in the morning, and don't find it abrasive at all. But it's always good to do a small test first
my aldi didnt have the adli one here, it just has rundown town levels of face moisturiser.
I have not found a good eyecream though, so will be scouting this thread for those
Bugger! 😿 my very close second choice for awesome Hyaluronic acid without breaking the bank is the ordinary
https://theordinary.com/en-gb/hyaluronic-acid-2-b5-serum-with-ceramides-100637.html
Get 23% off Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 this Slowvember. Formulated with 5 forms of hyaluronic acid and ceramides.
This is a serum not a cream, and a bit expensive, but it’s legit magic, you only need a wee bit at a time, it’s absolutely worth every penny. FRACTIONATED EYE-CONTOUR CONCENTRATE (FECC) by NIOD
https://niod.com/en-gb/categories/skincare/eye-serums
my daily fix eye cream I can’t live without is the CeraVe Eye Repair Cream
https://www.cerave.co.uk/skincare/moisturisers/eye-repair-cream
runner up eye cream is the Benton - Fermentation Eye Cream- I use it layered over the eye serum at night
https://unblemish.co.uk/buy/benton-fermentation-eye-cream-10ml/
More cursed mask moments? The last of my Lush Magnaminty
you missed a spot
i did notice plumper and more hydrated skin while taking any one of these: collagen (collagen or marine peptides), cod liver oil/fish oil, hyaluronic acid tablets.
That mask looking the way it does makes me think that it will have to be absolutely amazing for your skin, or equal or worse than doing nothing 😹
It's very cooling so I guess it reduces redness? but I feel like clay masks like this are more exfoliating than anything, dry up and take dead skin etc away
Y’ALL
i love spritzing my ‘mature’ skin with hydrating mist throughout the day
this is amazing…bought it yesterday, first time trying
prior i was using this
oh my friend gifted me that from Japan. It’s really nice for winter isn’t it? I used it today toooo
good taste!
it’s so nice
Not quite skincare but I guess hair is a sort of skin. So i'm going to the gym quite a lot at the moment which means im washing my hair a lot. Anyone got any good shampoo or conditioner or maybe some after care stuff thatll stop my hair turning into a straw hat?
aaaah i was having the same issue with straw hair and bad shampoo. I finally found a nice one but its only for purchase in my country so I’msorry but i feel ya. Also are u getting buff and all healthy? Jealous.
I think so, we shall see if i can keep it up once work kicks back in
make sure it states “NO SULPHATES” as that’s what dries the hair out
don’t double shampoo if you’re washing it frequently and try to keep to just scrubbing the scalp rather than the hair itself
opposite for conditioner, get it in the hair not on the scalp
then just getting a nice hair oil to pop in while it’s drying makes a huge difference
Do you recommend a good hair oil? I'm so scared to start doing things like that because I feel like it won't feel freshly washed if that makes sense
leave in conditioners and heat protection also works really well but that’s for much longer hair (i’m assuming yours is short, correct me if i’m wrong)
ignore the gentlemen, he currently has nowhere to go
that’s really cheap and really good imo, 2 pumps into wet hair if i’ve recently been quite dry, 1 pump otherwise
and i usually pop a pump of it through my ends whenever i’ve used straighteners or a curling iron just to clean any frizz/dryness the heat caused
I'm sat here with wet hair right now wishing I had that fs
i bought an air curler today, so going to see what that does with my hair later
in a pinch, bodylotion works nicely for parched hair. esp for me nivea creme was nice
love air curlers
Hair is a sort of skin.
Ok thanks, i have like a silicone scalp thing that i use for shampoo. Will try some of this oil stuff
first time using it, can’t say it’s the worst, definitely can’t say it’s the best
but it’ll do and my hair feels 10x healthier than using curlers or straighteners
Looks great!!!
literally obsessed with poo poo
Hahahaha I'm really not
But I seem to have the reputation now
But that is a quote TBF
Although I did happen to choose the poo one ffs
you know what’s up! you know i use my palmers cocoa butter lotion to smooth my hair
That would do double duty of making your hair smell great
if you’re washing it a lot, you could be stripping it of natural oils
maybe just rinse it with water and scrub your scalp
yeah but like i cant not wash it after the gym and sauna
hmmm then get a good moisturising shampoo
and leave your conditioner on for 5min or so and only apply it to your hair
yeah i think thats the plan just dont really know any
not scalp
where do you reside?
yeah ive dont that for years
in the England
ok brb
maybe try aveda rosemary and mint shampoo
will have a look
this stuff is great
you can find it at b&m reasonably priced
I’m considering going back to dr hauschka rose day cream again
I swear by these. Not sure if the Tarte poreless primer is in the UK as I got it in the USA, but I'm sure you can order it. And the KVD mascara is absolutely amazing though I'm out of it and can't fimd it in shops
i have aquired, time to test it out
Anyone got any daily sunscreen recommendations?
stay inside
Lolz
haha
my moisturiser has it in, i dont do more than that. Seems a tab pointless at the moment but im not a skintologist
Do you mean for face or all over? I'm using Simple SPF 15 on my face atm, the Cerave SPF 30 was ok too
Seperate note, my gf bought me a sample box thing from The Ordinary so I've been using hyaluronic acid at night, was using rose hip seed oil before and I think I prefer that to the acid. Is it just because the ordinary hyaluronic is just not very good?
Yeah sorry I man for the face. I've been using this for a couple of months. I like it so might just get it again, but wondered what other people used. Was thinking a 50 might be better
I think stick with it yeah, unless it starts bothering your skin I think the consistency is probably better, idk if it's just me but it takes a while for my skin to adjust to using different products
And I think 30 is fine, you can always just put on an SPF 50 after moisturising if you needed/when UV is higher
i use a korean one that might be hard to get overseas. I did revommend it as my favorite bove in here weeks ago. Its Goodal Heartleaf sunscreen. I like it bc its very mild and soothing and light. I can use it like a moisturizer. I can reapply it. No grease. Its chemical tho. Dunno if you prefer chemical or physical sunscreen. Ppl seem to like La Roche Posay Anthelios spf sunscreen a lot. Its got an orange label. Its not available in korea so i havent tried it but its supposed to be very good. I van revommend some korean or japanese ones if u really want. Let me know if you read rhis wall of text and want them. Otherwise, prolly ebst to use what u know works as Bunney said. I am also using one from nivea that is nice. For me the sunscreen has to be light and not greasy and have no white cast. And no smell.
Australian sunscreens are supposed to be very good too as Australia has very stringent wuality cintroll and requirements for spf rating as the sun there is intense
I’m also using an Australian one by a brand called The Cancer Council. I got it bc it is tinted which means it has iron oxides and thats supposed to offer even more protection. It doesnt leave a tint on the skin tho as far as i can tell.
Its clear bit looks coloured out the tube
dont mind me I’m just typijg away wheeeee
elta MD sunscreen is loved by many too
just fyi if u wanna get a korean sunscreen dont buy in amazon as there might be lots of fakes
Yeah I bet aussie ones are good, the only problem with the sun we have here is how little its out
haha yeah
in that case Cerave day lotion/cream i heard thats nice. I think it has spf 30
Yeah I used that last summer, wasn't too thick/greasy or anything
I’ve tried like 3 separate The Ordinary products and hated every single one and threw rhem all out
I use the cold pressed rosehip seed oil at night and moisturise over the top and my skin feels so nice in the morning
man i love a good face oil
what brand is it
I’ve only ever used the NOW brand of rosehip oil
haha ok I’ll keep this one in mind then for fitire potential purchase
Thanks for the star wars post @spring sequoia I'll probably stick with what I've got. It absorbs quite nicely with no white cast or anything. It's cheapish too
I did read it BTW 🙏
I've been using Ordinary products for while, they seem to be working well. I'm thinking of doing one of those monthly subscriptions next where the mix up a concution of treatments in to a single product that you apply once a day, my other half does it and it's working well for her. It comes with tretinoin, which isn't available over the counter in the UK
I feel like this is doing very good things to my skin. It’s cheap and so I didn’t really expect much but I think it’s better than tretinoin for my skin at least. I was using it on my hands to use it up and using it sporadically but a few days ago I tried it on my face and it’s really really good at smoothing my face skin. I am going to replace my tret with this. I just ordered two more.
Dr dray waxes poetic about it which is why I bought it in the first place but I don’t know if she ever tried it on her face. I didn’t care for it at first but it’s proving to be quite nice. Just as she said.
I feel like tret didn’t do much of anything for my skin excrpt to dry it out and make it peel. I think I looked worse with tret tbh. But this moisturizes and gives me the smooth glowy look other ppl get on tret.
I’ve been on tret for 1.5 years now.
in any case I’m going to use this everyday until the weather warms up and see how it goes.
And yes I did the sandwich method for tretinoin.
I have liked it enough this past week that I ordered two more:
it's got urea and shea butter. if you like uriage, you might like this bc it's got urea. but if you start this, you gotta start wearing spf during the day.
i put this lotion on only at night
Interesting. I've almost run out of my retinoid. Not sure whether to give tretonoin a go next or just another type of retinoid or retinol
What does urea smell like? I read that some people are put off by it
This lotoon has no smell! @jongo
@tough canopy
well it does. Have a veeeryyyy light mild pleasant perfumey scent but very light. I recommend.
check out the reviews on amazon for this lotion
almost consider this to be no fragrance
Let me go home abd smell it agaib to confirm
just smelled it. basically no scent
it's very godo for skin tho is urea
what retinoid do u use now?
All I'm really after is something to clear up my issues with pigmentation, so probably gonna do a bit more research first. I've found the one you sahred on ebay, doesn't seem to be easily available in the UK though
I'm on the ordinary granactive 5% in squalane, been on that for about 6 months now. Doesn't seem to ahve helped tbh, but I know these things can take a while
O rly
i've even been putting on hydroquinone 4% and that kinda works for super light ones but not really
which ones? the gold bond one i shared today? try amazon maybe
Well I found a bottle of the one you shared on ebay for just over £30 for a big one, might give it a go... can always use it in my body if no good I guess
Yea that one
Couldn't see that specific one on amazon
yeah. it could be delusion but i feel ike it made my hand look plumper and smoother
if anything, this gold bond one makes my wee pigmentations (not the big one) go away a bit
in any case, this one did the most for me.
also try vitamin C serum in the mornings before lotion
that is supposed to brighten skin
i've been doign it too
Bit odd how it doesn't say exactly how much retinol is in it, makes me question how effective it'll be
that's why i didnt give it much thought
and I'll look in to that cheers
❤️
maybe i need to up my tretinoin percentage to 0.1. i've been on 0.5 and before that 0.25
i dont understand why it did NOTHING for me but instead made me look dull and skin quality was shite
shitier than when i started
Think I've done alright with this, 22% off too
wow great prices!!! glad you found a cheaper one for the gold bond.
is this amazon?
iherb
oh great. i checked iherb for you but didnt see it. glad it's on yours
It's international shipping so gotta wait a bit longer, but it's a lot cheaper than anywhere else... and better availability
oh wait, it IS on my iherb too. i just did a diff searchword.
First time I've heard of the website, had to check it wasn't some dodgy scam site, something about the "i" before "herb" I think
I used to use iHerb when I was in Bahrain because I couldn't find good affordable curly hair products
i LOVE iherb.
I'll keep it as my go to I think
Now I just stock up boots points because I live so close to the city
if you write reviews, you get money off next purchase
Ah nice
also in case u dont know, don't use vitamin c at night with retinol. use only in mornings
cuz they cancel each other out or sumthing
also it is too much for skin to handle
i did it at first a few years ago and my skin was BURNING
i did vit c, retinol, and bha ALL AT ONCE silly sily me
Oh shit haha. I read that it's good to do it in the morning because it boosts the effectiveness of your sunscreen
oh cool didnt know that
@tough canopy
Similar to what I'm using now then
altho...
so i have no clue. but dont worry. it'll work somewhat and it will work in a good way so you cannot lose using it anyhow
Yeah it's fine, I was aware before i bought it. No harm in just giving it a go anyway
very nice
oooh
and its AMAZING
what does it do?
is it a moisturizing eye cream?
yeah i think i answered my own ques by reading the title of the product lol
and my undereyes are usually black black and sunken in…seems to have made the extreme hollows not as sunken in
i’m wearing just a little concealer here on top of the primer, no mascara, no filter
yes i have a flick at the end of my eyes of eyeliner
but dude
hey that mist worth bc it likes great. No dark circle. Just nice
must work well
i am impressed
i didnt use setting powder at the end but i might to play around with it…see what works best
i have this powder that has hylarounic acid
nice spelling
hyaluronic
sheesh
Hi Lauren Ick
yeah i was doing that too
and then i figured out the spelling and was liek whoa
HI Laran Ik
i always feel SO accomplished when i finish a product.
i don't think i've ever finished a bottle of foundation. I hae never had the experience of using to the last drop. it expires before i get even halfway done.
never tried bare minerals but i do love my MAC mineral somerhing somethjng foundation powder
i’d imagine they’re similar
Ooh!
do you think of 5 quid the same way you think of $5?
like not the current conversion rate but the feeling
i don’t think
and yeah i do tho
it’s just 5
so if an apple or a bottle of water is $1 in florida, and the same thing is up for sale in the uk for 1 quid, do you feel the same way about the price of it?
i feel like i can never express my question clearly but i just find this question very important for some odd reason
i think because i can’t even remember what was what back home
like, i’ve been away too long and don’t think to even compare or whatever
i don’t have an opinion or thought about
thhanks for answering! xoxo
@tough canopy oh shit jongo. I just opened up a new bottle of that Gold Bond retinol one with urea. The previous bottle was fine but this one...I have been using it for a few days and TODAY just NOW i SMELLED the gross pee smell for the first time. Now i get why ppl say urea smells. I've never had this before with this product. hows yours?
is it my imagination? it's veeeery mild thank god
but not that mild
nah i think i was imagining it
nah i think it's still there

my other bottle smelled slightly scented with a nice flowery thing. waaaa
Ye it's been fine for me no bad smell. Not sure how well it's working compared to what I used to use but my skin feels nice 👍 I did make the mistake of leaving it on my hands for a the first few days and it fucked them up a bit, guessing that's the rhetinol
I shall let you know if it starts smelling like piss
I bought this sun screen too, I like the smell of it
oh i heard this one is nice. i've been wanting to try it.
i slather on the gold bond retinol on my hands and it's real nice. did it make your hands dry or something? it makes my hands so soft and smooth i love it for that. sorry to hear you had a bad reaction to it. maybe it's that I've been builiding up tolerance to it over the year and a half bc i've been putting on tret on my hands all this time. dunno but i've never had a bad reaction to tret on my hands.
i obvs only put it on at night and wash it off in the mornings and apply sunsccreen on hands etc. hope your hands are ok now
it's real fun talkng about skincare with you!
