for part a you can consider the different cases of parity and a bit of factorising
you can do the same for part b since the linear term in the modulus is quite easy to deal with, but there could also be something clever with factorising/ completing the square

off the top of my head if you consider parity for part b you can use difference of squares quite cleverly
