so take take root x
since a square means a power of 2
a square root is the reciprocal of 2
for example root x = x^1/2
3 x 3^1/2 = 3^n
3 = 3^1
now they're all bases so we can just form an equation
1 + 1/2 = n
n = 2/2 + 1/2
n = 3/2
how do i do 1 + 1/2
its a good topic to revise especially fractional since it usually comes up early on
Its confusing me😒
Hows it only a grade 6 topic
I get this thank you
bc once u get the concept every q is basically free
It's really as simple as denominator = root, numerator = power
How am I supposed to get the concept I literally watched the video on maths genie and then the questions at the end have nothing to do with the video😔
And remembering your exponent laws
what dont u get
no i meant what about the topic do u not get
Like when letters come into it
Its fine without it
show one
This is just exponent laws
rewrite as something similar
usingexponent laws
4 and 8 can both be expressed as base 2
is an exponent an indice
So they have to have the same base?
To find the answer
yh cus then the powers will be teh same
tell me what 4^n is in terms of base 2
2^what
2^2
yh (2^2)^n
Right
ohhh
let your teacher teach the topic first
then revise over it
to fill in gaps
They did😕
Before the summer holidays
Last lesson
if the powers are equal make an equation
it was probably rushed then
And they stopped it for 30 mins cus someone threw a pen
just dont stress over a topic like that
We only did like one simple question
there are many other topics that you will understand
yeah
that makes sense
you need a whole worksheet of questions to understand
Im just trying to revise this incase we dont go over it in year 10
Since we’ve already done it
my y10 maths class covered most topics
ull go over it trust
especially in y11 too
why do i have y11 role
i would say around 65% of the spec
yhh we finished content like halfway thru y11
rest was just going over stuff
my teacher was saying after we finish the content its nothing more than abusing past papers
mhm
So would the answer be 2^2n=2^3
thats not the answer but thats a step
compare the powers
2n=3?
yh
Then n=1.5
yh
finding a common base is smt ull do a lot with these typa questions
if there isnt one already
Do i find the reciprocal for this
yh id undo the reciprocal
||3^n=5 ||
|| 3^n=5 so (3^n)^2=(5)^2 =25 ||
So 3^-n=1/5 right
yh
So you have to make it a fraction instead of a decimal
sure
get 3^n now
u have 3^-n
I get it but since its 0.2 do you just have to make it a fraction
Like i mean cant you do 0.2/1
Or am I speaking nonsense
u dont need to
no it would be 1/0.2 which is 5
for the reciprocal of 0.2
Oh so it is correct
yh
Okayy thanks
not done with the q
Do you know any websites better than maths genie
Yeah ik you do 3^n squared after that
idk have u tried corbett
Which is 25
yh
hard as hell to navigate
ðŸ˜
idk i dont use maths websites
Do you do a level maths
So you use textbooks?
yh
Did you do gcse further maths
ohh
I thought i’d be at a disadvantage because my school didnt do further maths as an option
nooo
it gives u a headstart but it in no way puts u at disadvantage for not doing
ygm?
chem bio
nah ðŸ˜
Ohh
You know after sixth form can I take a gap year then apply to uni after that
yh
thats what a gap year is
I wanna get a job so i dont have to get a student loan
haram?
Yeah
fair
I saw on the government website though they might release interest free student loans
idk if it will happen but u got a long time till 6th form so maybe
It said in 2026
Which is when I finish year 11
oh u good then
yo if q is answered u shld prolly close
How do I close it
