yh
4 and 2 are the limits i just cant see how they've manipulated it
i only lost 1 mark anyway but still
ok we wanna solve for x so let y=0
multiply 0 by 4rootx
(x-2)(x-4)=0
x=4
x=2
Then they expanded evrything and divided by 4 sqrt(x)
im gonna do this question later actually
What can’t you manipulate
The root 2s are just there as a result of substituting 2 into the terms
its bc of my calcultor
Set it equal to 0
Times 0 by 4rootx
(x-2)(x-4)
X=2 x=4
omds thats nto what i mean. at the end after you integrate and find the integral, you need plug in 4 and 2
and get the answer in root2 s
i cant do it bc when i put the values in my cal it doesnt simply to a surd, it shows it as a decimal
its fine forget it
its one mark
sorry for missreading
well something to the power of 1/2 is root of that
and you can simplify using that
Ur either writing something wrong or just have the worst A level calculator if it can’t even represent things in surd form
their calculator is fine its because theyre doing the whole calculation at once and the calculator cant show 12root2 / 5 - 16 / 5
“Write your answer in exact form” writes 0.1941125497…
lol
What kind of calculator can’t
wait can it show that
Mine sure can if that’s what you mean
oh yeah but thats the CG50
wait actualy thats a simple surd
mine could probably do that too
they probably typed it in wrong then
better to do integration calculations where it asks for exact value in your head though
or part by part in the calculator
I just write out the entire equation with x and I can change variables of x in my calculator so it’s quick
i dont think my calculator can do that
im probably gonna get the one you have when i start further maths next year
i dont want it but i think we need it for certain parts of the course
i did NOT type it wrong
What calculator you got
see the picture abover
Lmaooo
Wait I have the same one it just doenst have the solar panel
I thought mine can do it
just try it and see
Alr one sec
Lol
Buy a cg50
I'm going to for next year
Worst calc ever made
does anyone acc know how to do it algebraically?
It can represent the form as well so idk what's wrong
Yeah just
Take something to the power of 1/2 as root
You can take the numerator as normal power
And simply using that
E.g. 2^(3/2)
Is root (2^3)
$$\frac{1}{10} * (\sqrt{2})^5$$
Which is root 8 which is 2 root 2
Pringle
Wow that's cool
i get that bit but you have to somehow get rid of the power to 5, how do u do that
$$\sqrt{2} * \sqrt{2} = 2, (\sqrt{2})^4 = 4 \therefore (\sqrt{2})^5 = 4\sqrt{5}$$
Pringle
$$(\sqrt{2})^5 = \sqrt{2} * \sqrt{2} * \sqrt{2} * \sqrt{2} * \sqrt{2}$$
Pringle
So the S<->D Button on your calculator doesn’t work for it?
na lol
its because u put ur powers as fracion put it in root format u will get it
damn it actually doesnt
