but like how do i plot the equations and solve it

For x² + y² = 9 you find the radius which is sqrt(9) = 3, then find the centre which in this case is (0,0) and just draw a circle of radius 3 from the point (0,0)

ohhhh i see

#

also for this question why did they cube the scale factor i thought it was just for volume not mass

stiff maple
#

The density doesn't change because it's all made of clay

#

So when they have a length sf, the volume is multiplied by sf³ meaning the mass has to be multiplied by sf³

true pebble
#

ohhh

stiff maple
#

So yeah it's normally for volume but you can do it for mass if they're made of the same thing

true pebble
#

okay thanks

#

also for the first question how did they get the solutions?

stiff maple
#

They read from the graph

#

Well the ones they drew

true pebble
#

idk how they got it

#

what are they looking at

stiff maple
#

They drew the graphs, they're looking at where the line and circle meet and finding those coordinates

true pebble
#

ohhh

#

i seee

#

thank you

#

idk why it took me so long to get

shouldnt be <0

does the differntiation ever get this long in the exam

true pebble
#

That was the question

#

I thought initially I could factorise but then I realised it was the quadratic formula

vagrant cypress
#

the quadratic formula doesnt work

true pebble
#

Yh i didn’t include that in the equation

vagrant cypress
#

oh

#

also

true pebble
#

That’s what I did

vagrant cypress
#

b = -3

#

so it should be 3 not -3 at the front

true pebble
#

Ohhhh

vagrant cypress
#

amnd

#

c = -4

#

not 4

true pebble
#

I thought it was always negative b

vagrant cypress
#

-(b)

#

-(-3)

true pebble
#

Ohhhhh

#

I seee

#

Thank you

vagrant cypress
#

and c = -4

#

so it should be

#

(-3)^2 -4(6)(-4)
