cuz the centre of the bell curve is roughly the mean / median
then +3 standard deviation away from the mean
is 99.8% of data
pretty much all data
so you take the end of the curve and take that away from the mean
to get 3 standart deviation
and divide by 3 to get 1 standard deviation
