#stats question interpolation

Why would the correct one be 11.49 and 12.49?
because they said to the nearest pound , if i had 12.50 then i would round that up to 13 pounds
so technically no one would have it
same logic for 11.49 instead of 12.50
Oh I know where your confusion is
Well the results in the table are given by rounding off but when we do interpolation we assume that its not rounded so lets say pound is represented by £
And if its rounded to 11 lets say then we know
10.50<=£<11.50
This statement says that pound is either equal to 10.50 or more which rounds to 11 as stated in the question. Similarly it has to be less than 11.50 so could be equal to 11.499999 so we assume less than 11.50
So therefore when 10.50<=£<11.50 we get 10.50 as lower bound and 11.50 as upper bound and then you do the interpolation as you would normally
Feel free to ask if any bit doesn't makes sense
yeah i thoughtso too
but then i remember money cant be 11.4999999999
like it can only be 2 decimal places max
