find the gradient of the tangent at that point
and normal tangent perpendiciular so u can do negative reciprocal thing
then u use the y - y1 = m(x-x1) to find the equation of the normal
Oh
Alright I’ll try
|| dy/dx = 4x -1
4(1) - 1 = 3
so normal grad is -1/3
y - 4 = -1/3(x-1)
y-4 = -1/3 x + 1/3
y = (-1/3)x + 13/3
to find intersections set both equations to eachother as they both = y
(-1/3)x + 13/3 = 2x^2 - x + 3
collect terms
2x^2 -2/3x -9/3 = 0
solve for x ||
Which equation are you doing equal to the normal equation
The 2x^2 - x + 3
Like where did it come from
@surreal temple
thats the equation of the curve bro
Oh yeah my bad
Lol
I was looking at another question so I got confused
Zack what other subjects do you do
Yeah it be like that
Mb
It’s fine
Are u about to say I’m gonna fail them because I’m this dumb
😂
Oh alright
I find the other two super easy
I mean I’m getting A*s in all 3 atm
Rahhhh
Nice
But in maths I just have to work a bit harder
Oh really
Yeah i find chem harder
psychology is easy
in difficulty its like this for me
hardest to easiest
chem, fm, psych, maths
Yeah
How much harder are you finding it than normal maths
I mean we only just moved from gcse to a level in regular maths so regular is a lot easier
But fm isnt taht bad atm
Its just
Very long.
Ah
That’s weird how you’ve only just moved to a level content in maths
We started doing it like 3 weeks after we started
We were doing straight line graphs and quadratics for ages
Strange
I love coordinate geometry
Real
Youll get it eventually 🙏
Anyway I’m gonna finish off this question
Have fun with that
