Trying a question from my textbook, although i seem to get a value of cos with an input greater than 1 which is confusing me, can anyone see where I went wrong?

Input or output?

humble vector
#

on the bottom line

#

i can’t work out the inverse cosine

wild meadow
#

Yh it can be greater than one

math error

wild meadow

Ohhh

#

Sry one sec

#

U got the formula wrong

humble vector
#

okay oops it looks like i copied down the wrong numbers

wild meadow
#

It’s b^2 + c^2 - a^2 for the numerator

humble vector
#

which is why i’m getting an impossible triangle

Yh

One sec lemme write it out and send a picture of it

a^2 = b^2 + c^2 - 2bc*cosA, no?

wild meadow
#

Yh

#

So rearrange that

#

For A

#

What’s the first step u do?

humble vector
#

if you take away b^2+c^2 from both sides you get a^2-b^2-c^2=2bc*cosA

#

no?

wild meadow
#

No

#

It’s negative 2bccosA

humble vector
#

oh right

humble vector

#

No

wild meadow
#

Remember it’s negative 2bccosA

humble vector
#

OH right yeah
