It's bc f(x) is one of those 1/x curves

Which looks like

Where the curves never touch 0

So bc on that equation, its 2/x+1

So it moves left horizontaly by 1

Wait hang on a second. Where does it say that x < -1

U mean like not equal to -1

Either way it moves left by 1.
So not touching 0 means not touching -1 on the x axis
