OA is a radius
And there's a rule that says the angle between any radius and a tangent is 90°
So OAB is a right angle
that's a right angled triangle so you could use pythagoras to get OB
Just do pythagoras and you'll get that equation
Here you got a right angled triangle BCD
BC=CD=8
do pythagoras to get BD which is the diameter of the circle
now you can get the area of the circle
then get the area of the square and subtract it from the area of the circle
that gets you the area of the shaded parts
