I believe tension always acts opposite of the object
- Further maths in year 11 is crazy just wait lol
- The tension acts both ways if I'm not mistaken, towards the middle from both ends. Newton's 3rd talks about equal and opposite forces, and those are eachother's equal and opposites
Tension always acts towards the centre of the rope
Always toward the centre
And yes like hen said from both directions
Because imagine you pull on a rope - you exert a force away from the rope
The rope doesn’t snap
So there must be a force acting toward the centre
That’s normal maths not FM

idk whether there's a modulus of elasticity with inelastic ropes in A2, also the title says further so I'm assuming further
