for the 2nd image (graph question) part (a) u need to realise that the x coord of the turning points of f(x) will always be the roots of f'(x), and then u should realise that the gradient is negative x<-3 and then between Q and R

part (b) it is because point Q is a local maximum, and the 2nd derivative will be negative at the local maximum
