label point D as (0,6) bc that’s the y intercept
make y=0 to find x
0=-2x+6
2x=6
x=3
so point A is 3
we know gradient of DA is -2 and bc we wanna find the gradient of line PAB we have to do the reciprocal
use eq
y-y1=m(x-x1)
y-0=1/2 (x-3)
y=1/2(x-3)
y=1/2x-1.5
now we’ve found point P which is -1.5
length of PD= 6+1.5
PD=7.5
Woa thank you
How does -1.5 turn into a positive
look at the diagram it’s better if i visualise it, point D is (0,6) and point P is ( 0,-1.5)
how long is the length of PD , go from 6 to 0 and then 0 to -1.5 how far have u went u have went 7.5 units , lengths can’t be negative
